Today is the last day of September and the spooky month of October starts tomorrow. I wanted to give you a heads up about October. October is going to be a busy month for this little piggy.
I Skyped a witch and she even saw me in her crystal ball. Even she knew I was up to something before mom and dad did. You see, I’m going to have 31 days of Spook on my blog. I’m personally going to highlight scary movies, television shows, legends, monsters and other things that go bump in the night. I might even quiz you on some of them so be prepared. Start brushing up on your trivia. I hope it will be fun for everyone.

Do you want to see what love likes my friends? Look closely at this picture of me with Nana. That tells and shows you everything about love. I love my Nana and she loves me. And what happens at Nana’s, stays at Nana’s. There is no wrong or getting into trouble at Nana’s. Shakes my head – nope no way. Nana is my heart. This was as close as I could get to her to ‘hug’ her and show her my love. This picture was taken earlier in the week when I got to go spend some time with Nana.
I even got to spend the night with Nana which is so much fun. Can you tell I love her?

Welcome my friends to Shopping Around the World. This month we are highlighting one pot wonders.
Mom is going to highlight her one pot wonder that she makes in the crockpot.
I’m licking my lips now – Take it away mom!
With working and trying to rush home to fix dinner, sometimes it can be overwhelming. So I take help where I can, just like with this one pot wonder in the crockpot. In the morning before coming to work, I will put some baking potatoes in the crockpot. So easy huh? All you have to do is wash and clean a baking potato. Take a fork and stick the potato several times. Place it on some aluminum foil and salt/pepper to your desire. Then wrap the baking potato up securely and place it in your crockpot just like the picture shows. We always fix extra potatoes because they come out so good for the next night’s meal. We bought a bag of baking potatoes at the market for $5.00 a bag. There were 12 large potatoes in the bag making each potato $0.42 each. After you get all of your potatoes washed, seasoned, wrapped and placed in your crockpot, turn the crockpot on low and forget it.
Now, before I leave the house, I checked the refrigerator for leftovers from the night before. I found broccoli and cheese and beef sausage. All I did was place these items in aluminum foil packets and put them back in the fridge. Around 2pm, I called my hub unit and told him to also place these packets in the crockpot to heat them up. The broccoli and cheese was a head of broccoli cut up from the night before with some shredded cheese melted over it. Total price was around $2.00 but this is the second meal so you can add $1.00 to tonight’s meal. The beef sausage was $2.50 and again this is the second meal so add $1.25 to tonight’s meal. So right now, we are looking at around $3.00 for tonight’s meal – so far.
When I finally get home from work, the fun begins. You take out a baked potato and put it on a plate removing the aluminum foil. Go ahead and mash some of the potatoes out and add butter, sour cream, salt and pepper – whatever you want. After it is fixed the way you normally eat a potato, add your leftovers. Tonight it was broccoli and cheese with beef sausage. Now look at that potato. And remember you washed and seasoned the peel, so eat everything.
It’s whats for dinner and a meal all in itself for around $3.00 for TWO people. You can’t beat that and it’s great on a cold night… if we ever get cold here.
Snorts with piggy laughter. Have I got a great story for you today my dear friends. Mom/dad here are what I would call potato chip connoisseurs. Yep, that’s right. They like their potatoes. And who doesn’t because even I love me some good potatoes of any kind. Of course, they try to stay away from the snacking but every once in a while, they get pulled in.
Well, for some time Lay’s potato chips have had different flavors they have created and are sharing ‘with the world’. One flavor intrigued mom. It was Brazilian Picanha. But mom took her time in getting a bag.
I mean heck, Lay’s potato chips are like almost $4.00 a bag – can you believe that highway robbery?
Now Picanha is one of mom’s favorite cuts of steak. In fact, when mom/dad go downtown Atlanta they often eat at a restaurant called Fogo de Chão which is a Brazilian Steakhouse. There house specialty is mom’s favorite cuts, picanha. This is a picture of dad getting some of that cut at Fogo de Chão this year. It is so yummy it melts in your mouth. Well, that’s what mom/dad say. I wouldn’t know because no one has ever brought me home a piggy bag. I’m just sayin’.
But back to my story. When Lay’s came out with this flavor mom was excited to try it. She invested in the bag mumbling something about Lay’s is not cheap and what if she didn’t like it? She gets home with her cherished Lay’s and tells daddy all about it. They then open up the bag to try it. That’s when things went south. Mom hated it. Hated it. Nothing like her cherished steak she loves. Absolutely HATE does not even describe the flavor of these chips. Now me and dad on the other hoof said they were eatable. Did we want to rush out and get another bag – no way!

Here are seven things about me:
I’m a miniature pot belly oinker. But I’m not just any oinker. I’m talented, write a blog, have my own bedroom with my own television and have my mom wrapped around my hooves right where I need her.
For years, I wouldn’t go outside to potty because I didn’t like the feel of grass on my hooves. Nowadays, I’ve gotten used to it although I still hate going outside in the heat.
My favorite snack is Animal Crackers. I will do anything you want for a few cookies. Darn this pot belly of mine!
I have a pet rock named Bashful who travels the world and brings home friends each time he returns. They also live in my bedroom and can be quite loud at times. Don’t let them fool you. They are party animals and love to play hide and go seek.
I love to watch television. I especially like the old school cartoons. You know the ones like the original Scooby Doo, The Flintstones, The Jetsons – you know the good toons before they went crazy. Mom can turn my television on and I will watch for horrors.
There is only food at this time that I absolutely can not stand. What is it? It is kumquats. Yucky. Pooey. Gross. Mom gave me one and one of my ears went south and the other went north at the same time. I spit it out and will not eat them. In fact, I told mom to try one. Do you know her ears did the same thing? Snorts with piggy laughter.
Have you ever heard of cow tipping? Well mom says that she likes to pig tip me. Rolls my piggy eyes. There’s one spot on my side that mom can rub and boom – there I go. I tip over, kick my hind legs and let mom rub my belly. What can I say? I’m easy like that.

What were your first thoughts when you met your new parents? I so excited to be the center of attention! I had 4 bothers and FIVE sisters so it was nice getting extra cuddles! I really loved my new brother Bronson the best!
What was the defining moment when you knew you were in your forever home? When I went outside and saw my backyard! Every dogs dream! AND I have 2 goat brothers which is pretty cool!
What has been your biggest “Oh no, now I’ve done it” moment so far in your home? When I nipped at my new big brother Baron.. He wasn’t too happy! We are good now though!
Who do you have wrapped around your paws more – mom or dad – and why? I think my dad…He even took me to work with him! I got to meet all the office people. They we all pretty nice!
What’s the biggest misconception that humans think about you? They think I’m too small to be tough…. But I can hold my own!

Today, September 28th, is an awesome day. It’s Ask a Stupid Question Day. Finally a day that we can ask all of those silly questions and not have anyone look at us a strange way. Speak up my followers – ask all of those questions you were afraid to ask today that you have been wondering about all year long.
I interviewed the occupants here at the Hotel Thompson. They came up with some great questions that I’m going to share. They’ll start so you can feel better about your questions. Remember no one is going to laugh at your question – maybe the answer but not the question – chitter chatter

Hello sweet friends and welcome to another great edition of Travels in the South. This past weekend, my mom/dad had to go to Alabama for a quick trip. While they were gone, they stopped at a restaurant called Top O’ The River in Gadsden, Alabama. Now this restaurant has special meaning to mom/dad. You see it was over 20 years ago that dad and his family ate here. They then told mom about it and mom and her family ate here. But mom/dad together have never been here. So going to this restaurant was kind of like a coming home if you will.
When mom/dad arrived at the restaurant, there was not a single available parking space in the entire lot. It was barely 5:00pm and there were 100’s of cars. Mom says this is a sure sign of good food to come. Finally mom spotted a parking space, they parked and entered the restaurant. That’s when they saw lots of people waiting in line. Mom/dad knew they were going to be in for a long wait so they put their name in and started looking at the menu. You can see the menu here. Amazingly, mom/dad might have waited less than 15 minutes and their number was called. Mom/dad were ecstatic to say the least. There were lots of big parties here that night so thank goodness it was just mom/dad.
Mom/dad got a fantastic seat at a booth next to the windows which was what – overlooking the top o’ the river. Cute huh? And what a view they had that you can see from this picture. Beautiful and serene, lots of green trees and there were some ducks swimming around in the water. Can you imagine what these trees are going to look like when Fall finally decides to get here?
The sweet little waitress came to the table and mom asked her what was good to get. She said that there platters were awesome and way more food than one can eat… although the platters say for one. So mom/dad said why not and went with the platter to share. Boy, were they surprised when the waitress came back with some starters in the form of cole slaw and cornbread.
If you have never had southern cornbread, you are in for a treat. Cornbread is one of mom’s specialties and dad says she makes the best. In fact here in the south, a good cornbread will get you a good man… so says mom/dad – snorts. But mom said this cornbread was fantastic! Cornbread is made with cornmeal, milk, eggs, some people add a little sugar although mom doesn’t, and this cornbread had corn and jalapeno peppers. This cornbread was served with a delicious creamy cole slaw and sliced onions on the side. Mom/dad said they could just eat these starters and be just fine. That’s country folks my friends – simple food for a fantastic experience.
But mom/dad ate all they could and before they knew it, it was time for the main course. Remember the platter was suppose to be for ONE person? Well here is that platter in it’s glory. There is boneless catfish fillets, popcorn shrimp, fried shrimp, chicken fingers, hush puppies and french fries. Doesn’t that platter look simply amazing! And the size of it compared to dad’s hand. Remember, the platter was for one person. There is no way! Mom/dad were so glad they decided to share the meal.
They ate to their hearts desire both of them afterwards being so full and happy. That’s what this experience was all about. Enjoying each other, sharing a wonderful experience and just enjoying the time and scenery. For a while, time stopped and mom/dad sat for a while and just relaxed for a bit away from everything. And of course, you all know my daddy. He’s never met anyone that he can’t talk to. Today was no exception.
On the way out of the restaurant, he met the restaurant mascot, Mr. Catfish at the exit door. They had a moment to discuss politics, the secret recipe for those wonderful catfish fillets and dad got directions home… that is after they visited the back deck of the restaurant for one last final view.
And that final view is what I leave you with today my friends. A reflection of a great meal with some wonderful memories made. And I have to ask you. When was the last time that you had a dinner with family that you just sat in comfort with each other, laughed and just let everything stop for a moment. Enjoy my friends.
Welcome my friends to my Bacon’s Show and Tell. Today we are discussing embarrassing moments from childhood. Trust me. I have a good one to share today. I thought long and hard and have to tell you about my daddy. Snorts – yep poor dad. Are you ready for this? Here we go.
When dad was a small boy – I’m going to say around 6-7 years young, his mom took him shopping with her at a local store. This store had big tall windows all across the front of the store. Daddy and his mom was in the store shopping for a long time and finally got to the front registers overlooking the windows. Daddy told his mom that he needed to go to the bathroom and he was jumping all around – you know like some little boys do. So his mom told him to go out front and wait for her there. You know back in the day when you could actually do that with no worries that someone might take your child.
So there daddy was in front of the store and his mom was waiting patiently in line to buy her items. That’s when it happened. What do you ask. Well there were snickers, then rolls of laughter and then came the pointing outside the front window. You see, there was the cute little boy that was standing outside peeing. Not just peeing straight into a puddle. Oh no, that wouldn’t be my daddy. My daddy was outside peeing on the front windows and making designs with his pee. Shaking my piggy head. Yep, his mother was so proud.
His mom quickly paid for her purchases, stomped outside and without missing a beat picked daddy up under her arms and continued to the car. All the time…. daddy was continuing to pee freely in the air. Well, he did tell her that he needed to go to the bathroom, right?
