I’ve Created a New Season – Happy Sprinter

This picture is from Wikipedia.  It shows the typical seasons – Spring, Summer, Fall and then Winter.  That’s the way it’s suppose to fall.  But this year, dear old Mother Nature is not playing fairly.  Mommy says she needs hormone shots and daddy says she needs more dates with Father Time.  I’m not sure which one is right.  I just know that maybe she needs a kick in the butt.  Yep, I said.  I kick right smack in the middle of her captains quarters.

You see, this weekend is what I’m talking about.  Saturday here at the Hotel Thompson we get up and it is beautiful.  There’s no other way to put it.  The birds are chirping (and that’s a story for another time – snorts), the sun is out, the wind is just right and the temperatures are in the 60’s.  You couldn’t ask for a more gorgeous day.

20140112-143627.jpg

Our neighbor Big Daddy had cut our yard and the back yard was spectacular.  Thanks Big Daddy!  We went out there and ran for a while.  Mommy says it was for me to get some sun and I said I understood.  Secretly I knew she wanted me to run some excess Winter weight off so I would sleep more deeply tonight.  I’m good with that.  I just wonder why she didn’t make daddy do the same.  Double snorts.

It was a wonderful day.  Lots of running, loving and snuggles.

Then BAM!  What a change Sunday.  Sunday brought us rain, cool weather and strong winds.  We could actually sit inside and hear the winds!  We all got up and had breakfast together.  It was so damp and yuck outside that after breakfast, we all went back to bed.  Now, I’m not hating days like this because usually, like this day, when we go back to bed we all get on the Select Comfort for a siesta.  It was great.

Picture this.  A king sized Select Comfort bed with two humans, one purr things, one pooch and a piggy.  Snorts, Me and Houdini are a 65 with mommy on the Select Comfort.  Daddy and Hemi are a 100.  That’s just too hard for this little oinker.  When we got up from our nap, it was still yuck outside.

Now, I’m telling you all of this for a reason.  It’s suppose to be Spring but it still acts like Winter.  I’m suggesting a new season called – Sprinter.  You get it?  Spring with Winter.  So sometime today, tell someone Happy Sprinter.  Then smile and remember my little story here.  🙂

Happy Sprinter my pals!

Itsy Bitsy Spider

The itsy bitsy spider climbed up the water spout

Down came the rain and washed the spider out

Out came the sun and dried up all the rain

And the itsy bitsy spider climbed up the spout again

Kind of a catchy tune isn’t it?  Mom went outside to get the mail.  When she came back in, she was mumbling something, grabbed her cell phone and went back outside.  This piqued my interest.  What the heck was mom up to?

When she came back in, I could smell nature on her.  And, I could smell the heat.  Shivers, I don’t like the heat.  I’ll take my air conditioned room any day.  🙂

Well, she said she went outside to take a picture of something.  Of course, I had to jump on the couch with her to look at the picture.  Oh THUD!  I will never hear the itsy bitsy song again without this vision popping into my little head.  If *that* is an itsy bitsy spider, we are ALL in trouble my friends.  This thing looked like it had its own zipcode!  Have you ever soon anything this huge??!!

I recognize that sound of you hitting the floor.  I’m sorry.  But you have to admit that it is very colorful.  Mom says it’s a good spider and won’t harm you.  I’m not sure about that.  It looks like it can carry me off.

One Lovely Blog Award

Squeals with piggy excitement!!  OMP – I got nominated for the One Lovely Blog Award by my sweet friends over at Ladybuggz.  What a fantastic way to end the month.  Thank you my sweet friends for thinking of this little oinker and his group of misfit friends

Be sure to check out Ladybuggz when you get a chance and tell them that Bacon sent you.

❤   ❤   ❤   ❤

The rules are as follows:

  1. Post to accept the nomination
  2. Thank the person who nominated you and link to their blog.
  3. List 7 things about yourself.
  4. Link to the blogs you nominate.
  5. Notify the recipients of their award.
  6. Post the rules!

Here are seven things about me:

  1. I’m a miniature pot belly oinker.  But I’m not just any oinker.  I’m talented, write a blog, have my own bedroom with my own television and have my mom wrapped around my  hooves right where I need her.
  2. For years, I wouldn’t go outside to potty because I didn’t like the feel of grass on my hooves.  Nowadays, I’ve gotten used to it although I still hate going outside in the heat.
  3. My favorite snack is Animal Crackers.  I will do anything you want for a few cookies.  Darn this pot belly of mine!
  4. I have a pet rock named Bashful who travels the world and brings home friends each time he returns.  They also live in my bedroom and can be quite loud at times.  Don’t let them fool you.  They are party animals and love to play hide and go seek.
  5. I love to watch television.  I especially like the old school cartoons.  You know the ones like the original Scooby Doo, The Flintstones, The Jetsons – you know the good toons before they went crazy.  Mom can turn my television on and I will watch for horrors.
  6. There is only food at this time that I absolutely can not stand.  What is it?  It is kumquats.  Yucky.  Pooey.  Gross.  Mom gave me one and one of my ears went south and the other went north at the same time.  I spit it out and will not eat them.  In fact, I told mom to try one.  Do you know her ears did the same thing?  Snorts with piggy laughter.
  7. Have you ever heard of cow tipping?  Well mom says that she likes to pig tip me.  Rolls my piggy eyes.  There’s one spot on my side that mom can rub and boom – there I go.  I tip over, kick my hind legs and let mom rub my belly.  What can I say?  I’m easy like that.

Seven Nominations:

Of course, I would like to nominate anyone that doesn’t have this award yet.  If you don’t have it, please feel free to accept this award from my piggy heart.  Other than that, here are my choices:

My awesome friends Kali and Shoko from Canadian Cats

My brother Easy

My buddies Hailey and Zaphod at the Hailey/Zaphod Chronicles

The Gang at Jan’s Funny Farm

My cousin Sammy at OneSpoiledCat

My nefkitty Purrince Siddhartha Henry

The dear friends Sam and Elsa at Tailsaroundtheranch

Letter From Summer Camp

Dear Family,

Bacon here from Summer Camp.  There are a bunch of vultures here at camp.  No I’m not talking about Alfred Hitchcock and birds of nature.  I’m talking about thieves.  Someone in the cabin ate all of my Animal Crackers yesterday.  They are not admitting to who did it.  Don’t mess with the pig.  This means war. Good thing I packed my Ninja outfit when you weren’t looking.

Today we had to go running.  Snorts – as if this pig runs.  Unless there is food in the distance that is calling me, why would this oinker run?  So there I was softly walking to our destination.  My counselor Wolf creeped up behind me and howled.  What an as*$*!)  I took off running like it was really the Big Bad Wolf after me.  After a while of running, I heard clapping.  It took me a few minutes to realize it was just my thighs cheering me on.  That Wolf is a true as$*!&

Tonight, we get to sleep outside “under the stars in the fresh air”.  Really?  Do these people not watch television?  I’d rather be behind a locked door.  But then again, my Ninja outfit could come in handy tonight to find the culprit that ate my beloved Animal Crackers.  Evil snorts.

Simpler Times

While Bacon is a camp this week, I want to focus on a few things that as adults we have forgotten about when we were children. LOL – this only makes sense since my little guy is away at Camp.  He grunted like he didn’t want to go but I think he secretly loved getting away and traveling like his pet rock.

It seems like when we were younger, that was the more simpler times in our lives.  As children we didn’t have bills or a lot of toys but it seemed like we had the world at our feet.  We went outside and played.  I mean ran around and played ball, climbed trees and searched for bugs and watched the moonlight. We played hopscotch and hide and go seek.  We socialized with other kids, screamed outside and had a blast.  As long as we were in ears reach of our parents when they called, we were rich with our nature.  Do you remember staying out late and catching lightening bugs? Or do you remember chasing frogs?

And oh should we discuss riding in the family car with our parents on long trips.  We didn’t use seat belts and look – we all survived which was amazing.  I remember going on vacation and we would leave at night and drive to our destination.  Us kids would be sacked out in the back of the car.  One of us would lay across the floorboards, one of us would get the seat to stretch out and one of us would sleep in the back window  The horror of not wearing seat belts!  Now *those* were the days.  And what about going to the lake.  You would throw a bunch of blankets in the back of the pick up truck so that you had a place to lay down after swimming all day so you could watch the stars in the sky.

We played so hard as children that when we went to bed we would have ‘growing pains’ in our legs from running all day.  Do you remember those?  But hey it was all worth it because the next day we would be out doing it all again.

And we watched the *good* cartoons like Scooby Doo, the Jetson’s, Tom and Jerry and the Flintstones.  Cartoons that actually made sense and are still fun to watch this day. And after dinner, we watched television with the parents until bed time.  Awesome shows like Happy Days, Fantasy Island, Mork and Mindy, Chips, Wonder Woman, the Facts of Life and Alice.  Who could forget Alice?  “Kiss my grits!”

What do you remember from childhood.  What did you do that you don’t see children doing these days?

Me Doing What I Do

20130820-053738.jpg I really thought I was going to have to put a call out for someone to build a boat yesterday.  It rained like there was no tomorrow.  All of us was getting cabin fever of being inside and on top of each other.  Today though, it’s beautiful.  The back yard was freshly cut and mom decided we needed to spend some quality time together outside so we did.

I had to walk around and investigate my kingdom – smelling the grass and sneezing.  And I can tell you it’s the truth.  The camera does put weight on you.  There’s no way my pot belly is that big.  No way at all. But don’t worry.  I did get some exercise in the yard… and so did mom.  I made her chase me around because I wasn’t ready to come in when she was.  Of course, I thought twice when she said – and I say quote, “Fine then, let Mr. Bigfoot get you.”.  I ran past her and inside of the house so fast after that, she almost fell – snorts.

Piggy Ramblings

I’ve got a lot on my piggy mind lately.  Nothing particular just aimless ramblings from my point of view.  I do a lot of listening around the Hotel Thompson.  Sometimes it’s better to listen than oink.  So today I’m going to share some of those things that I’ve heard.

Mom has an ear ache.  She told daddy she could hear it slushing.  I’m not sure what that means but it doesn’t sound good.

Houdini got groomed this week.  Now he’s walking around like he owns the place.  Go figure huh?

Coming up this week is a long weekend.  I’m glad.  I need some extra snuggles from mom.  I think she could use it too.

I’ve gotten more used to the feel of grass on my hooves.  I still don’t like it but I don’t hide from it anymore.  I still think of myself as more of an air conditioned piggy than a hot piggy.

There’s something big that has happened in my life.  I’m hoping to share more about it next month.  It’s huge.  It’s been a little over a month and I’ve been adjusting to it.  It’s big.  Heck, we’ve all been adjusting to it here at the Hotel Thompson.  Just wait until you find out about it.  You’ll be thrilled too.

Mom has started that DIEt thing again.  Lord help us all.  She says that she needs to do it so dad can get aboard the DIEt thing.  Shakes piggy head.  Help me.  I’m saying that now because I can tell it’s going to be rough the next couple of months.

Hemi should join that show called Fear Factor.  Mom says so because he has no fear.  He has been jumping around the house from shelves to couch to mom’s chaise.  Of course mom gets on to him but he still does it.  I heard mom tell dad that Hemi was pushing her over the edge and it was a short trip.  I don’t get that because I haven’t seen any edges like that in the house.

Mouse Girl has gained weight.  Maybe she needs to be put on the DIEt thing.  I’m not sure.  She is what did dad say, butt heavy.  And of course, Houdini has the biggest crush on her.  I mean huge.  Houdini keeps chasing after her and you want to hear something funny.  Of course, I don’t get it but mom and dad laugh hysterically when daddy says it.  Every time Houdini chases Mouse Girl, dad tells Houdini, “Leave her alone Houdini.  She’s too much pussy for you.”  What?  I don’t get it.
