This picture is from Wikipedia. It shows the typical seasons – Spring, Summer, Fall and then Winter. That’s the way it’s suppose to fall. But this year, dear old Mother Nature is not playing fairly. Mommy says she needs hormone shots and daddy says she needs more dates with Father Time. I’m not sure which one is right. I just know that maybe she needs a kick in the butt. Yep, I said. I kick right smack in the middle of her captains quarters.
You see, this weekend is what I’m talking about. Saturday here at the Hotel Thompson we get up and it is beautiful. There’s no other way to put it. The birds are chirping (and that’s a story for another time – snorts), the sun is out, the wind is just right and the temperatures are in the 60’s. You couldn’t ask for a more gorgeous day.

Our neighbor Big Daddy had cut our yard and the back yard was spectacular. Thanks Big Daddy! We went out there and ran for a while. Mommy says it was for me to get some sun and I said I understood. Secretly I knew she wanted me to run some excess Winter weight off so I would sleep more deeply tonight. I’m good with that. I just wonder why she didn’t make daddy do the same. Double snorts.
It was a wonderful day. Lots of running, loving and snuggles.
Then BAM! What a change Sunday. Sunday brought us rain, cool weather and strong winds. We could actually sit inside and hear the winds! We all got up and had breakfast together. It was so damp and yuck outside that after breakfast, we all went back to bed. Now, I’m not hating days like this because usually, like this day, when we go back to bed we all get on the Select Comfort for a siesta. It was great.
Picture this. A king sized Select Comfort bed with two humans, one purr things, one pooch and a piggy. Snorts, Me and Houdini are a 65 with mommy on the Select Comfort. Daddy and Hemi are a 100. That’s just too hard for this little oinker. When we got up from our nap, it was still yuck outside.
Now, I’m telling you all of this for a reason. It’s suppose to be Spring but it still acts like Winter. I’m suggesting a new season called – Sprinter. You get it? Spring with Winter. So sometime today, tell someone Happy Sprinter. Then smile and remember my little story here. 🙂
Happy Sprinter my pals!

Happy Saturday my dear sweet friends.
Today is the last day of September and the spooky month of October starts tomorrow. I wanted to give you a heads up about October. October is going to be a busy month for this little piggy.
I skyped a witch and she even saw me in her crystal ball. Even she knew I was up to something before mom and dad did. You see, I’m going to have 31 days of Spook on my blog. I’m personally going to highlight scary movies, television shows, legends, monsters and other things that go bump in the night. I might even quiz you on some of them so be prepared. Start brushing up on your trivia. I hope it will be fun for everyone.
So, happy last day of September my friends. Welcome to Spooky October! Evil snort

Hello sweet friends – I hope you had a wonderful LONG weekend with Labor Day. Labor Day the unofficial last day of Summer. I only wish it was true in the weather department as well. Because why? Because it’s still hotter than you know what here in the South. Don’t get me wrong. This past weekend was absolutely beautiful – cooler weather, lower humidity and slight winds. It was *almost* like a wonderful fall day. In fact, mom even slipped some Pumpkin Spice coffee in there in places. That just screams fall, right?
Then there was yesterday with daddy. When we have leftover bread – you know when the bread becomes a rock and you can almost kill someone with it – (snorts with piggy laughter) dad will throw it out in the front yard for birds and other night creature anipals to eat. You know they have to eat too. Well yesterday he and mom were fixing to go off so he throws the bread out. That’s when mom says things got out of control. It was like the movie Jurassic Park where all of those little pesky velociraptors came running across the fields at people.

That’s right – Chicken Run was back in the hood. They came running from next door (of course) and tackled the leftover bread like there was no tomorrow. At one point, mom said she counted EIGHT of them. Shakes piggy head. I lost count at two… that is two for a chicken snack on the run – HA! Nah, I couldn’t hurt the chicks. I’ve kind of gotten attached to them. And of course the neighbor stills insists, “I don’t have chickens”. Okay then. I guess they just ‘hang out’ in your backyard every day/night. I guess this brings new meaning to free range chickens. Snorts with piggy laughter – I kill myself!
Now I want to share a story with you. A story from the heart. I know I talk about my humans going off unattended all of the time and them getting into trouble. But sometimes their adventures don’t end up in trouble. You see over the long weekend, daddy had a craving for these things called Krystals. The are little petite hamburgers that are square and wonderful. Kind of similar (I’m told) to White Castles but mom says they’re better. I wouldn’t know because I’ve not tried the comparison.
So mom takes daddy to the restaurant and they decide to eat there which they normally don’t. But mom just had a ‘feeling’ they needed to eat there and she had a coupon for a gazillion Krystals. Okay maybe not a gazillion but quite a few. She told dad that it was an excellent buy and she was going to get that many because he could eat them during the week. Now we all know that women get these feelings called women’s intuition. You should always go with that feeling – and your first instincts. So mom/dad are eating their meal and they are done. They have leftovers, of course. That’s when a man came into the restaurant that got mom’s attention.
You could tell this man had been through some tough times by his attire. He went to the counter and they turned him away. That’s when the light bulbs went off in mom’s head and she starting shaking her head. She knew now why she needed to eat at the restaurant and order so much food. The man looked defeated from being turned away at the counter. Mom got up, walked up front and got another french fry order and large drink. During this time, the staff at the restaurant had told the man that he had to leave. Mom said, “No, he’s a paying patron and he’s eating.” She then invited the man over to dine with her and dad.
You learn so much about people just with a single act of kindness. This meal made this man’s day. Mom/dad sat with him and talked with him and laughed with him. At the end of the meal, he asked how much he owed. Mom said, “Nothing. It’s paid in full just by you joining us and making our day with your company.”

While Bacon is a camp this week, I want to focus on a few things that as adults we have forgotten about when we were children. LOL – this only makes sense since my little guy is away at Camp. He grunted like he didn’t want to go but I think he secretly loved getting away and traveling like his pet rock.
It seems like when we were younger, that was the more simpler times in our lives. As children we didn’t have bills or a lot of toys but it seemed like we had the world at our feet. We went outside and played. I mean ran around and played ball, climbed trees and searched for bugs and watched the moonlight. We played hopscotch and hide and go seek. We socialized with other kids, screamed outside and had a blast. As long as we were in ears reach of our parents when they called, we were rich with our nature. Do you remember staying out late and catching lightening bugs? Or do you remember chasing frogs?
And oh should we discuss riding in the family car with our parents on long trips. We didn’t use seat belts and look – we all survived which was amazing. I remember going on vacation and we would leave at night and drive to our destination. Us kids would be sacked out in the back of the car. One of us would lay across the floorboards, one of us would get the seat to stretch out and one of us would sleep in the back window The horror of not wearing seat belts! Now *those* were the days. And what about going to the lake. You would throw a bunch of blankets in the back of the pick up truck so that you had a place to lay down after swimming all day so you could watch the stars in the sky.
We played so hard as children that when we went to bed we would have ‘growing pains’ in our legs from running all day. Do you remember those? But hey it was all worth it because the next day we would be out doing it all again.
And we watched the *good* cartoons like Scooby Doo, the Jetson’s, Tom and Jerry and the Flintstones. Cartoons that actually made sense and are still fun to watch this day. And after dinner, we watched television with the parents until bed time. Awesome shows like Happy Days, Fantasy Island, Mork and Mindy, Chips, Wonder Woman, the Facts of Life and Alice. Who could forget Alice? “Kiss my grits!”
What do you remember from childhood. What did you do that you don’t see children doing these days?

Poor mom. She got up this morning and left for work in Albert – her little Smart car – just like she does every morning. No biggie. That’s when it happened – always when you are least expecting it. She saw it out of the corner of her eye. It was kind of like a… as she said quote “Aww crappers” moment.
She saw him standing in the neighbors yard at first. She’s seen him in the neighborhood and has been wary of him. He is bad news. He’s one of those tough edgy kind of guys who leads gangs. Shivers – that’s all I could do when I was listening to mom talk about him. She actually told daddy he was a “little thug”. I don’t know what that means but it can’t be good. Daddy got hot about that.
She was just minding her own business and that’s when he came at her from the passenger side. She quickly locked the doors to Albert and floored it. It’s not a bad neighborhood but this little thug was actually chasing her down the street. God only knows what he would do if he caught mommy. Squeal – can you believe that – in broad daylight this idiot was trying to carjack my mom? Was he serious?!
All she could think of was going fast – gotta go fast – gotta outrun this thug. I want you to know, she barely made it out of the neighborhood. I mean heck, if he would have caught her what would he have done? Flipped her off – literally? She did snag a picture of the little punk – here it is:

I hope you can see the little thug now my friends. Sometimes I seem to be all hooves when I’m blogging something. Mom got away just fine. This guy here must be the leader – he was the biggest one of the clan – snorts. Thanks for your concerns – I hope I didn’t alarm anyone. Much love – hogs and snout kisses – Bacon

Bless little daddy’s heart. He was out working in the yard with our next door neighbor, Big Daddy. Big Daddy was so nice to cut down a tree and a bush in our front yard of the Hotel Thompson. Mommy has always hated these two trees. They kind of cover the front door area and you know for safety reasons, she wanted them gone like yesterday. So, Big Daddy cut them down and my daddy was helping to drag/carry them to the back of Big Daddy’s house where he would later burn them. In this picture to the left, Big Daddy’s house is on the right and our Hotel Thompson is on the left.
There’s a storm drainage that runs to the left side of the picture where you see all of those trees/bushes. . Now remember, daddy has limited vision. But, of course he could take the limbs and such to the back of the white shed in this picture, right?

Well, apparently not. Daddy was taking limbs down and miscalculated where he was. Before Big Daddy could scream or say anything, daddy went boom and walked right off in the storm drainage. It’s probably about 4-5 feet down. I’m not sure who was more scared – daddy or Big Daddy.
Daddy took a bad tumble. He didn’t get hurt bad. He got a lot of scrapes and bruises. It could have been a lot worse. But my daddy, he’s a toughie. He told Big Daddy that he had been hit worse during his football days. But still, that was a good tumble. I know that Big Daddy got scared.
And you know what, neither of them called mommy at the worky place right off… which was probably a good thing. Daddy went inside of the Hotel Thompson, took off all of his wet clothes and took a hot shower. Let’s just say he had more leaves on him than in a cup of hot tea.
He finally broke down and called mommy before she got off work just to give her a heads up. He acted like it wasn’t a big deal and everything was fine. But on the way home, Big Daddy called mommy and told her what happened as well. And it’s funny how men try to hide things. Daddy has let it out a little here and there about how when he fell, there were some sharp rocks that fell right between his legs but didn’t hit him. I think someone was watching out for my daddy this day.
Do ya’lls humans ever do anything like this that has scared the bejeesus out of you? I was so concerned this day with daddy that I kept going up to him and bunting him with my snout checking on him. I even whined a couple of times to let him know I was there for him.
