Friendship Day

Journalist Rocky the Squirrel here –

Keeping my paws on the nuts of the world!

Who could ask for a better day?  The first Sunday of August is always Friendship Day.  Isn’t that a wonderful day to celebrate?  What is better than friends – whether they come in the human form or the animal form.  Friends are always there with us in good times and in bad times, to share special moments in our lives.  Sometimes all it takes is just a smile, holding a hand, a hug or just an ear or shoulder to cry on.

Friendship Day should be celebrated by phone, in person or by reaching out in an email or blog.  You don’t have to live next door to show someone how much you care.  Express your friendship in some way today and show the ones that you love what they mean to you.

NOTE FROM PIGLOVE –

We here at Piglove would like to tell all of our friends here how much we love and appreciate them.  You put up with our silliness, our sometimes seriousness (although it doesn’t happen often) and our whack-o ways.  We started Piglove as an outlet to share memories of Bacon… a cute little miniature pot bellied pig.  You have helped me to personally grow and do something that I love, to write and make people laugh.  I would like to take this time on Friendship Day and tell each and everyone of you – Thank You for being our friends.  We cherish our times, our talks, our emails and phone calls.  We cherish your ‘go with this’ attitude when we come up with something whacky and new.  You can never imagine how much your friendship means to us.  Here’s to another year of great posting, inter-action with our friends and much laughter –  Bacon’s humans

International Day of Friendship

Journalist Rocky the Squirrel here – Keeping my paws on the nuts of the world!

Of all of the important holidays I can tell you about, today seems to be the most important in my book.  It is International Day of Friendship.  The world is filled with too much hate, too many wars, too much prejudice and way too many disagreements.  Today, we should put all of that aside and reach out to each other and say, “Hello friend happy friendship day!”

This is just not a backyard problem or a school playground problem.  This is a worldwide problem.  A problem that needs to come to an end.  Everyone has differences – we wouldn’t be individuals if we didn’t.  But when you look down to it, we all want to be happy and what better way than to get along.

Today let’s make friends with different people, different cultures and different countries.  Extend your hand – or an olive branch – and say hello friend.  Say hello to your neighbor, to the stranger at the market and say hello to a person that you see everyday but you don’t even know their name.  Today is the day to make a friend near and far.

To all of our friends, we at the Hotel Thompson would like to say thank you for being our friend – happy friendship day.  And to those that don’t know us yet, Happy Friendship Day.  May we get to know you better today and in the future!

Who will YOU say hello friend to today?

National Parent’s Day

Journalist Rocky the Squirrel here – Keeping my paws on the nuts of the world!

July 22 is National Parents Day.  Everyone has a parent – 🙂  Today is a special day to honor your mother and father – biological or adopted.  I know Bacon appreciates the time he spent with his biological mother and father.  If it wasn’t for them, he wouldn’t have the great parents he has today.  Bacon’s biological parents wished nothing but the best for him and I think he has it here at the Hotel Thompson with his human mom/dad.

All of us are all very lucky to have mom/dad here at the Hotel Thompson.  There’s so much love!

Today, National Parents Day, brings the real meaning of Mother’s Day and Father’s Day.  Spend some time with your parents doing something fun and most important showing them how much they are loved and appreciated.

Bashful is Wanted?!

Information has been received over the wire reports this morning that the juvenile rolling stone has been caught in another act of random mischief. This time, the act took place in a local Target department store in the south. The juvenile rolling stone was caught on store security riding a tan in color skateboard down the sporting goods aisle. In one part of the video, you can actually see where the skateboard goes around a human wearing orange clogs and then runs into a display shaking his little pebble head from the impact.

One witness who wishes to remain anonymous, we’ll call him Mr. Smith, stated the juvenile rolling stone was acting like “he didn’t have a care in the world“. Mr. Smith stated he told him at one time to put the skateboard away so that he would not get hurt. The juvenile rolling stone stuck his tongue out and told the employee, “Make me”, before he took down another aisle riding the board. Mr. Smith followed him and inquired where his parents were. The juvenile rolling stone replied, “Papa was a rolling stone” before laughing hilariously.

This goes to show that the juvenile rolling stone is becoming more mischievous.

Last month, authorities reported that the juvenile rolling stone created havoc by riding a blue skateboard carelessly throughout the Walmart department store. He was observed skateboarding down aisles of the store in the toy department in between humans feet. He was even overheard shouting at the Walmart workers, “Whee, whee, whee!” and “Catch me if you can”.

Authorities have released a video from the security camera at Target of the juvenile rolling stone perpetrator showing his disturbance. Authorities are asking you not to approach the juvenile rolling stone in case he casts the first pebble. If you recognize this juvenile, please comment in the postings. All postings will be confidential.

National Best Friend Day

Journalist Rocky the Squirrel here – Keeping his paws on the nuts of the world –

.June 8th. is Best Friend Day .  This is a great day to express to your friends how much you really appreciate them and cherish their friendship.  Of course, we need to do this year round but today is a special day to share your appreciation and honor your friends.

Best friends are great people.  You can spend countless hours with them doing all kinds of things and sometimes just doing nothing at all.  Whether you are talking up a storm on the telephone lines or just sitting in a room together watching a movie without talking, friends are great companions. You share everything with your best friend – from your secrets, your goals in life, your desire to endless achievements and your disappointments in life.

So today – go celebrate Best Friend Day.  Call up your bestie and spend some time, give them a small gift or hug, call an old friend you haven’t heard from in a while and if you don’t have a best friend – go find one today!

This squirrel is very fortunate to have so many friends here on this blog as well as at the Hotel Thompson.  Huge thanks to all of my friends here – Ya’ll are the best of friends!

Bashful Hide and Seek

Bashful – he’s a good pebble.  He tries to stay out of trouble.  Sometimes it works – sometimes not so much.  Last night, we were playing hide and seek in the house.  I can’t tell you how many times I walked by the table and saw this napkin.  It never dawned on me one single time that the little fella would be underneath it sleeping.

20130601-004234.jpg

The only thing that *finally* gave him away was that he had to go to the potty.  If it wasn’t for that, he would still be under the napkin on the table hiding.  And mom/dad, they weren’t much help.  I think dad was actually the one that suggested that great hiding place.  Where’s dad when *I* want to hide, huh?  Perhaps I should hide dad’s remote control and see how he likes to hunt for things for hours at a time – snorts.

Just another fun night at the Hotel Thompson.  How was your night?

Happy Mothers Day Moms!!

Today is a wonderful and glorious day – Mother’s Day.  I appreciate my birth mother, Bertha, and I love her very much.  If it wasn’t for her and my dad Champ, I wouldn’t be here, right?  Snorts.  So I’m very thankful for my mother – Happy Mother’s Day mommy Bertha.

I’m also very thankful for my adopted mother.  Mommy Bertha gave me life but my adopted mom gave me a home full of love.

I’m also very thankful for my nana.  If it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t have my adopted mommy.  See how these things work?

I am so excited to share this date with you my friends and wish you all a wonderful Mother’s Day filled with love and snuggable hugs.

Trivia Knowledge – did you know that the first Mother’s Day was May 10, 1908 in Philadelphia.  That’s good trivia knowledge that I learned from Journalist Rocky the Squirrel.

So from all of us here at the Hotel Thompson –

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY – WE LOVE YOU!!

Dear Bacon

20130321-223616.jpg

Dear Bacon – I love water – I mean I L.O.V.E. water. I love it!

I get in it every chance I get.

Can you tell? LOVE WATER!! This is my happy face!! Signed Waterdog

Dear Waterdog – Nah, I can’t tell. Let me get this straight – you love water? Snort –

20130321-223628.jpg

Dear Bacon – I love playing hide and go seek out in nature. It’s so much fun! My best place to hide is on a tree that blends in with my fur tones.

Don’t you love playing too?! Signed – Come and Find Me

Dear Come and Find Me – You are good at that game. You know who else is good at hide and go seek? Bashful my pet rock. He hid in the fish tank with the other rocks one afternoon and it took me over an hour to find that little fellow!

I’m glad I did though – he was getting tired of holding his breath. He said he almost drowned! Keep playing my friend!

20130321-223639.jpg

Dear Bacon – The humans – they think they are so funny. They took me for my spring cut. Just a little off the back they said. This is what I came home with. I’m so embarrassed. What am I to do? Signed Wacky Cut

Dear Wacky Cut – Let’s step back and look at this with a fresh set of new eyes. You can’t change what’s been done and undo it. So, I say wear it with a statement. Make a trend in that neighborhood of yours. Next thing you know, the other dogs might be going to the groomer wanting the ‘Wacky Cut’ look and you’ve started a trend. It is hair and it will grow back.

In the mean time, strut it!

20130321-223703.jpg

Dear Bacon  – The humans have this table cloth in the kitchen that I just can’t keep off of it. I like to play the game Twister on it. I think it’s a hoot except for left front paw on yellow and left back paw on orange. That kind of gets me all twisted and I go boom.

Have you ever played this game? Signed Kitwister

Dear Kitwister – It looks fun but I’m not sure if I could play or not. You know my pot belly – it gets in the way and I have really short legs. They don’t stretch that far. Especially these days when mom says I’m getting a little fat roll on them. Fat roll – snort – that’s not fat.

That’s just loose skin from hibernating all winter. Play on my kitty friend – twist away!

20130321-223717.jpgDear Bacon – Are you a couch pig? I read where you sit on the sofa with mom at night. That’s one of my favorite past times. It doesn’t have to be night though – I like doing it all through the day. Signed Couch Kitty

Dear Couch Kitty – You know I don’t say this much but you might want to get off of the couch every once in a while. I also ‘run’ through the halls here at the Hotel Thompson before landing on the couch with mom at night. I do a lot of playing around with the purr things here. You might want to try it a couple of times – just sayin’!
