Dear Bacon

Dear Bacon – What’s happening pig?  So like here is the problem dude.  I think like I’m a happening cat.  I got the moves like Jagger.  I wear my hoodie.  My parents still want to treat me like a kitty – what’s up with that? Signed Rap Cat

Dear Rap Cat – Slow your roll purr thing.  You are still a babe.  You’re not a member of the group Stray Cats.

I’m not sure if you been told this but you are pussy cat, not a rap cat.  I hate to be the bearer of the bad news.

Quit trying to go all jive in front of your parents.  Save the rap when they go to bed at night.  I bet they would love to hear that in the middle of the night.

Dear Bacon – I have a small problem.  As  you can see, my parents think I’m their personal marshmallow holder.  I can’t help that my fur is thorny.  What am I to do? – Signed Thorny

Dear Thorny – Give me a minute to pick myself up from off the floor.  I’m sorry dude.  That’s the funniest picture I’ve seen in some time.  You’re parents are really original.  I know it may seem like a pain in your side – HA – but go with it.  They can rent you out to parties and such – you can make money and save for your retirement.  I say go with it and make the best out of it little guy.

Dear Bacon – Finally I have proof with this picture!  When I get in trouble, my parents put me in a corner and point their fingers at me.  What’s a kitty to do? Signed – Hands Up in the Air

Dear Hands Up in the Air – Take your hands down from the air.  Use those paws that you have and swat those fingers.  They won’t be putting baby in the corner anymore.

Dear Bacon – I’ve read your blogs.  You talk about bed head.  Come on pig – look at this picture.  I think I have you down on bed head.  Signed – Bed Head Extraordinaire

Dear Bed Head – You got me.  Now please go shower and fix yourself up.  You’re scaring the viewers.

Dear Bacon

Dear Bacon – I’m a Himalayan Marmot.  I like to hang out at high elevations.  It helps me to destress and meditate.  I find a happy spot on some rocks, look over my kingdom and focus on being a better marmot.  What makes you feel good little man?  Signed Deep Thoughts

Dear Deep Thoughts – You already have me in deep thoughts with that picture my friend.  I myself don’t like the higher elevations or looking over anything with that height.  I think I would panic.  I do however try to meditate in my room after my dinner.  I focus on happy things over my kingdom at the Hotel Thompson.

Dear Bacon – There is nothing like laying around after a good meal.  I like to put on my little sweater to keep me warm.  Do you wear clothes?  Signed Petite Sweets

Dear Petite Sweets – That is a real look there my friend.  You do look like your ‘full’.  And, I do like the sweater.  I’m not much of a sweater person myself.  I do wear t-shirts though.  Mom has a couple of pictures.  I’ll have to find them and post them later.

Dear Bacon – You know that happy feeling you get when the human loves on you, you’re tired from playing and things are right in life?  I have here.  Can you tell?  Signed Happy Pooch

Dear Happy Pooch – I would have never guessed you were happy in that picture my friend – snort.  I think it’s the grin that gives it away.  It looks like you ate the mailman or something and got away with it.  Stay happy my fellow four legged friend.

Dear Bacon – Be honest with me my friend.  Are my ears big?  I kind of have a complex with them.  They worry me.  The humans don’t say anything but they look at me with that pitiful look in their eyes like something is wrong.  What do you think, be honest.  Signed Tiny

Dear Tiny – I’m a firm believer in loving what God gave you.  God gave me a pot belly.  It’s there.  I can’t help it.  The only thing I can do is love what I got.  When you are happy with yourself – you will be happy pooch.  It shouldn’t matter what others think.  Make the best of what God gave you and go with it.  I know I am!  Hogs and kisses my little buddy.

Spotlight Thursday – Meet River

Spotlight Thursday

Welcome my friends to SPOTLIGHT THURSDAY.  This is the time that I will introduce you to one of my fellow anipals so you can get to know them better.  Some of them, you may already know.  We hope that you enjoy this series!

Name:  River

Age:  1  years

Location:  Colorado

Web/Blog Page:  https://peacewithmylife.com/

What were your first thoughts when you met your new parents?  I didn’t pay much attention to them. I thought that they would pick one of the new puppies. No one else had wanted me, and I didn’t think these people would be any different. When they put me in the car, I was scared. When I threw up in their car, I thought they would take me back. Then I got to their house, and the homemade supper smelled so good, and they showed me the where I could sleep in the big bed with Mom and Dad, and I thought this was a lot better than the farm where I was born!

What was the defining moment when you knew you were in your forever home?  The second night I was there, I decided I really liked the big bed and this was a LOT better than the farm; I knew that I wanted to stay in this new place. A few weeks later, I finally realized that word they kept saying was my name – I was five months old and had never had a name at the farm. When I got my name, I knew I was part of the family.

What has been your biggest “Oh no, now I’ve done it” moment so far in your home? I’ve only been here nine months. Other than the car sickness that had me spewing all over the inside of the car, I’ve been pretty good. Mom said that she’d raised four kids and had seen much worse; she took it in stride. I don’t get car sick any more, and I’m still here, so I guess we’re all good.

Who do you have wrapped around your paws more – mom or dad – and why? I’m a Daddy’s girl. I love them both, of course, but he takes me running with him sometimes. And when we go for family walks, he usually holds the leash. We both have long legs (Mom is a bit of a runt) and we belong together. I love to snuggle my Daddy the most.

What’s the biggest misconception that humans think about you?  They think I’m just another pretty face, but I am crazy smart. They underestimate me, which makes it just a little easier to get into mischief!

Hope you enjoyed meeting my friend – check back next week for another Spotlight edition!

Spotlight Thursday – Meet Tribble

Spotlight Thursday

Welcome my friends to SPOTLIGHT THURSDAY.  This is the time that I will introduce you to one of my fellow anipals so you can get to know them better.  Some of them, you may already know.  We hope that you enjoy this series!

Name:  Tribble

Age:  7  years

Location:  Colorado

Web/Blog Page:  https://peacewithmylife.com/

What were your first thoughts when you met your new parents?  I’ve never known a time without my parents – they’ve were there when I was born and have been there ever since. When I first met them, I knew they were warm and now I also know they are sweet!

What was the defining moment when you knew you were in your forever home?  I was supposed to be given to one of Daddy’s friends, and I was preparing myself to leave. Then Mom intervened and insisted they give his friend my sister. She wanted to keep me, even though she had promised Daddy that they weren’t going to keep any of Garnet’s puppies. Pretty soon, I realized that all my siblings had gone, and I was still there. Mom was so happy! When she told me I was staying I was really happy; I just adore my dog-mom, Garnet. I didn’t want to go live with strangers. I was so excited to stay home with her!

What has been your biggest “Oh no, now I’ve done it” moment so far in your home? I almost died one day, playing with Garnet in the back yard. Her tooth got caught in my collar and when she tried to get away, it pulled even tighter. I passed out. When I woke up, Mom was holding me to her chest, trying to get me to breath. It all worked out, and they took away our collars, but I was pretty scared I’d get in trouble. We were all okay, though, and I’ve been pretty good. Oh, except when I ate that dead bird and almost died from sepsis. They saved me with the help of some great veterinarians and lots of dough. I thought they’d be mad at me then, too, but they were so happy when I got home from the hospital that all was forgiven.

Who do you have wrapped around your paws more – mom or dad – and why? Mom, of course (giggle). She’s such a softy. It’s a good thing that she loves me. Dad has finally gotten over the fact that they kept one of Garnet’s puppies, thank goodness.

What’s the biggest misconception that humans think about you?  They still treat me like a kid! I’m a grown up, well, technically. But Garnet and I are always together, and since she’s in charge, that means I’m not. So, I understand that they still treat me like a little girl; I can take advantage of that, you know.

Hope you enjoyed meeting my friend – check back next week for another Spotlight edition!

Spotlight Thursday – Meet Garnet

Spotlight Thursday

Welcome my friends to SPOTLIGHT THURSDAY.  This is the time that I will introduce you to one of my fellow anipals so you can get to know them better.  Some of them, you may already know.  We hope that you enjoy this series!

Name:  Garnet

Age:  Unknown – Rescue

Location:  Colorado

Web/Blog Page:  https://peacewithmylife.com/

What were your first thoughts when you met your new parents?  I was on survival mode and didn’t pay much attention to Mom until she put me in the car. The car really scared me, and I wasn’t sure I could trust someone who had put me in a car! I hadn’t been out of the puppy mill for long, and I was too scared and depressed to get impressed over Mom or Dad.

What was the defining moment when you knew you were in your forever home?  I liked it when she got me a cool haircut; I’d never gotten to be pretty before! But after a few weeks, my secret was out. When my Mom figured out that I was pregnant when she got me, I thought that she wouldn’t want me. Or maybe she’d be like the puppy mill and only want me for breeding babies. But it wasn’t like that. She seemed to handle my pregnancy and when my puppies were born, she found them homes with friends of friends. That made me feel good, but I didn’t know I belonged until they got me “fixed.” I was more to them than a puppy-making machine! That’s when I knew that they cared.

What has been your biggest “Oh no, now I’ve done it” moment so far in your home? It was probably the fact that I was already in the “family way” when Mom picked me out. (*hangs head, embarrassed*) It all turned out okay, but I wasn’t sure it would. I do my best to stay out of the way and be a good girl.

Who do you have wrapped around your paws more – mom or dad – and why? I can’t choose who loves me more! Both my parents love me and I like them both. I give them both lots of attention; I’m a lucky girl. They even made me “alpha female.” My only job is to be on the greeting and security details. I may be small, but I’m well camouflaged. If I came after you, you wouldn’t know what hit you!

What’s the biggest misconception that humans think about you?  I don’t like the leash or the car, and when it’s trip time, I tend to run and hide. So they sometimes think that I don’t want to go with them – but I do want to go! Once I get to the place where the smells are new and interesting, I’m happy to be there. Mom lets me choose if I want a walk, and I appreciate that. She seems to know I’m scared, but she doesn’t always know how much I really want to go.

Hope you enjoyed meeting my friend – check back next week for another Spotlight edition!

Spotlight Thursday – Meet Tsunami

Spotlight Thursday

Welcome my friends to SPOTLIGHT THURSDAY.  This is the time that I will introduce you to one of my fellow anipals so you can get to know them better.  Some of them, you may already know.  We hope that you enjoy this series!

Name:  Tsunami (nickname, “Nami”)

Age:  13  years

Location:  Colorado

Web/Blog Page:  https://peacewithmylife.com/

What were your first thoughts when you met your new parents?  I’m not sure I understood their relevance. I’m an independent girl and was just pleased to see the food keep coming.

What was the defining moment when you knew you were in your forever home?  When my parents understood that I didn’t want to be picked up, I knew that I could make this home work. When I want to be adored, I’ll come to them and request petting. Otherwise, keep your hands off; I just have to be in control

What has been your biggest “Oh no, now I’ve done it” moment so far in your home? (*tail whips, rapidly*) I’m the perfect guest. I never hurk something up in the humans’ bed or shoes. I always use the litter box. I’ve done nothing inappropriate. Well, there was the one time I went camping with the humans, and I got out of the camper and took a walk in the woods. They chased after me, but I was always able to stay a few steps ahead. Mom was not amused, muttering things like “bear bait” and “going feral.” I finally let her catch me, but (*mad ears*) they don’t let me go camping with them anymore.

Who do you have wrapped around your paws more – mom or dad – and why? I go to mom for pets more often than I go to dad. But I’m not sure either of them is sufficiently wrapped around my paw the way that I would like.

What’s the biggest misconception that humans think about you?  They think that I’m an ordinary cat. As if! I’m involved with special, under-cover work while they think I’m sleeping, but of course, I’ll never tell what THAT’s about.

Hope you enjoyed meeting my friend – check back next week for another Spotlight edition!

Spotlight Thursday – Meet Murli

Spotlight Thursday

Welcome my friends to SPOTLIGHT THURSDAY.  This is the time that I will introduce you to one of my fellow anipals so you can get to know them better.  Some of them, you may already know.  We hope that you enjoy this series!

Name:  Murli (I only come and react when called Murli, but Mum has other names for me like: Mi, Miez, Peeps, Feepsy, Schatz (=Treasure), Maus (=Mouse), Mau, Moo, Mauz, Flausch (=Fluff). )

Age:  11 (B-day iz August 17, 2005) 😸

Location:  Graz, Austria (We livez in da center of our city)

Web/Blog Page:  https://freecatlady.wordpress.com/   Mum Natascha and me have this blog as a way to connect with our furends, and share a bit from our life and about ourself with them and everyone interested.  We made so many really wonderful human and furry furends through da blog and we loves to make new lovely furends!

What were your first thoughts when you met your new parents? Me was a tiny small kitty, da last one of my siblings who still was in da foster pawrents home. Mum Natascha founds me through a work colleague of hers, who tolds her about a lil black kitty needing a furever home. As da day to meet came… Me was in a little box within a carrier, and completely focused on playing around in there with some toys. But then suddenly,  Mum was there, sitting down in front of da open carrier, but with enough space between me and her, because she didn’t want to frighten me.  Me stopped playing instantly and looked at her fur a moment before coming out, right to da hand her was stretching out to me. Me said “Meeep!” and instantly thought that she smells nice. Me thought “Who iz dis? Me likes her!” Then me climbed into her arms, not feeling afraid at all. Me just liked her right away fur some reason. I didn’t even know what was going on anyway, but me wasn’t afraid at all and me felt safe with her.

What was the defining moment when you knew you were in your forever home?  Right from da first day I was home with her, I didn’t want to leave her side. It was da way me felt instantly loved and cared about. When I spent da first hours in ma new furever home on Mums lap, or in her arms, me just felt safe and loved, like you feel with your Mummy. I knew from then on, me had found home, my furever home.

What has been your biggest “Oh no, now I’ve done it” moment so far in your home?   hehe, me never got in trouble with Mum, her just can’t be mad at me Da biggest mess I ever made was causing a full container with flour to fall on da kitchen floor. It was epic! Because after I caused it to fall from  da counter, me had to explore da mess of course. I found it hilarious. Me laid down in da mess, so there was flour everywhere! Little paw prints in da flour and on other places. Me was suddenly more like a tuxedo kitty, than a black kitty. Mum being too worried for me to even take pics of that mess, just started cleaning me up first thing. Her was worried me could breath in da flour and have trouble with it. She was also worried it would irritate my eyes. But me was fine, though it took a while to turn me back into a black kitty

Who do you have wrapped around your paws more – mom or dad – and why? Mum iz my only pawrent, but me haz a grandpaw (Mums Dad). I haz both of them wrapped around my paws completely They just really love me. But I have Mum wrapped around my paws even more maybe, because she will drop everything instantly if me wants or needs anything.

What’s the biggest misconception that humans think about you?  Me thinks that humans who dont know me underrestimate how smart I am. But that goes for all animals. Some humans, mostly from other more superstitious parts of Europe and da world think that I’m bad luck because I’m a black kitty. But Mum always says me brings only luck, love, happiness and a bond for eternity. Just like all other animals too

As you can see, me was kind of a black tabby as kitten. But when me got ma grown up fur, it was replaced with mostly black fur. But in da sun you can still see some stripes when you look closely. And da fur on some parts of me looks almost red brown in da sun.  I like to sleep above Mums pillow.  I love hanging out at the windows and watch the birds and da humans in da street below. Mum and Grandpaw made all da windows safe fur me and he build those frames for da screen himself. Iz a wire grid, but it has some kinda coating to make it smooth. And then da netting to keep out insects, especially because of bees, hornets and wasps, so me cant be stung. This is ma fav grey mousie. Iz da oldest and me does not give it up. I loves all ma toys, but me still loves da old grey mousie da most MOL!

Dear Bacon

20140330-183817.jpg

Dear Bacon – Listen the water is fine my four legged pot bellied piggy.  Why don’t you come for a swim with me.  I’ll even teach you how to swim under the water.  I’m sure you will catch on fast.  What do you think?  Signed Mr. Friendly

Dear Mr. Friendly – Not that I don’t appreciate your well… friendness but I think I’ll pass.  For some reason, I think it’s better for this little oinker to stay on dry land, far away from the water and far, far away from your swimming lessons. Call it a premonition if you will.  But, carry on my friend and thank you… really.

20140330-183833.jpgDear Bacon – I see you – purr snicker.  I have my eyes on your activities good or bad.  I’m reporting back to that Evil Elf of yours Don Juan.  You just wait.  You’re going to get it when he comes out in November.  Signed The Watcher

Dear The Watcher – Really?!  It’s not bad enough that I have rogue elf that watches my every move, you’re going to as well?  Rolls piggy eyes and walks away.  This is so not fair in this oinker’s life.  Can’t we all just get along?  Snorts

20140330-183825.jpgDear Bacon – The nerve of our family vet.  Can you believe that (A) they had the nerve to come near my captains quarters with that proby thing and (B) they told my humans that *I* needed to go on a DIET?!  What in the world was he thinking?  Don’t my humans pay for his sound advice?  What kind of crap advice is this?  I think the look on my face tells you everything I think.  Signed Tiny

Dear Tiny – Oh dear.  That proby thing is awful.  It must be a torture device from centuries long ago.  Yep, that’s what I think.  And that look on your face.  Oh my.  You are certainly not happy.  And well… looks down at my pot belly.  I am one NOT to give any advice to you on that four lettered dirty word – D.I.E.T.  Shakes head – nope.  Not the one to do that at all my friend.

20140330-183858.jpg

Dear Bacon – I double kitty dare you to try this maneuver.  Heck, I triple meow dare you.  I dare you to put your back legs up over your head.  In fact if you can do this position, I will personally come over every day and give you a piggy massage – heck I’ll even clean up your room for you.  Signed Fear Factor Feline

Dear Fear Factor Feline – Really?!  That’s okay my furry friend.  That’s what I have my mommy for – massages and cleaning – snorts.  Let’s hope that cannon of yours doesn’t go off while you are bent legs over head.

20140330-183847.jpgDear Bacon – I hate it when I get into trouble here at my casa.  Can you believe that my humans make me face the couch and sit here in time out?  It’s so humiliating.  Signed Unhappy Pooch

Dear Unhappy Pooch – WOW my friend.  That is some look you have there facing your tomb of doom.  It’s just not right.  And to put you in this time out right in the middle of the living room where you can hear and see all of the fun activities going on around you.  Shakes piggy head and clicks tongue.  Nope, just not right.  I’m sorry pal.  Maybe when you come out of serving your time, you just ignore those humans.  Show them who is getting timeout there.  Don’t give them any affection.  None whatsoever… can you last like what five seconds?  Hang in there my bud!

Spotlight Thursday – Meet Twilight

Spotlight Thursday

Welcome my friends to SPOTLIGHT THURSDAY.  This is the time that I will introduce you to one of my fellow anipals so you can get to know them better.  Some of them, you may already know.  We hope that you enjoy this series!

Name:  Twilight (or “Little One”) – But Shrimp calls me “Toast!”

Age:  About 7 months

Location:  Oregon, USA

Web/Blog Page:  http://cattitudechronicles.wordpress.com/  (When Shrimp’s sleeping)- but as soon as I’m old enough I’ll start my VERY OWN blog!

What were your first thoughts when you met your new parents? These people ADORE ME! They’ll feed me FOREVER! (And I told myself to be EXTRA CUTE)!

What was the defining moment when you knew you were in your forever home?  When I showed up in a thunderstorm in their backyard, wet and muddy and starving and infested with fleas and the human almost cried and took me inside immediately and gave me a warm bath and cuddled me and fed me and said “Welcome to your new home, baby!” (And Shrimp growled and the human ignored it)!

What has been your biggest “Oh no, now I’ve done it” moment so far in your home?   When I tried to cuddle up by the human in bed and Shrimp had A HISSY FIT!

Who do you have wrapped around your paws more – mom or dad – and why?  BOTH of the humans! But especially Mom because she loves how I race her to the Keurig every morning and wait for her to brew her coffee and swipe at her while she does her workouts – and when she does push-ups and Pilates, I swipe at her hair (to keep the tangles out)!  She also loves that I don’t let Shrimp’s angry glares keep me from snuggling with her!

What’s the biggest misconception that humans think about you?  That I’m just a cute little kitty – I’m actually a tiger (I work for the government undercover so they removed most of my stripes)!
😺

Spotlight Thursday – Meet Sundae Keen

Spotlight Thursday

Welcome my friends to SPOTLIGHT THURSDAY.  This is the time that I will introduce you to one of my fellow anipals so you can get to know them better.  Some of them, you may already know.  We hope that you enjoy this series!

Name:  Sundae Keen

Age:  7 years

Location:  Southeast Virginia

Web/Blog Page:  http://www.thesedaysofmine.com/

What were your first thoughts when you met your new parents? My  mom came to the Humane Society alone. I heard her tell the ladies working there that she didn’t really care what color kitty adopted her, that she just wanted a lap kitty.  The volunteers took me out of my cage and handed me to my mom, and I immediately lay down in her lap.  She was hooked!

What was the defining moment when you knew you were in your forever home?  When I got to my new home, I had all the necessities: food, water, a litter box. But I could tell that my mom was concerned about me. I cried a lot the first few nights. And I heard my dad remind her that everything here was new to me. He said that I’d been used to living in a cage, and now I had free run of a big house, and that I would adjust in time. So I knew they both cared about me.

What has been your biggest “Oh no, now I’ve done it” moment so far in your home?   Sometimes I decide to run down our (long) hallway in the middle of the night and “sing the song of my people” as loudly as I can.  I don’t think my parents take too kindly to my running and singing, especially that time of night.

Who do you have wrapped around your paws more – mom or dad – and why? Definitely my mom.  I’ve heard them say that the kitty they had before me (Beezy) was very docile, whereas I’m more of a little spitfire. I really think my dad would like me to be more gentle and loving.

What’s the biggest misconception that humans think about you?   Hmmm… that’s a tough question. I’m pretty good when we have company. But, I do have a bad habit of nipping people sometime when they’re playing with me. So, I guess the misconception would be that that I’m not going to bite. (I know: I need to work on that bad habit.)

Hope you enjoyed meeting my friend – check back next week for another Spotlight edition!
