Spotlight Thursday – Meet River

Spotlight Thursday

Welcome my friends to SPOTLIGHT THURSDAY.  This is the time that I will introduce you to one of my fellow anipals so you can get to know them better.  Some of them, you may already know.  We hope that you enjoy this series!

Name:  River

Age:  1  years

Location:  Colorado

Web/Blog Page:  https://peacewithmylife.com/

What were your first thoughts when you met your new parents?  I didn’t pay much attention to them. I thought that they would pick one of the new puppies. No one else had wanted me, and I didn’t think these people would be any different. When they put me in the car, I was scared. When I threw up in their car, I thought they would take me back. Then I got to their house, and the homemade supper smelled so good, and they showed me the where I could sleep in the big bed with Mom and Dad, and I thought this was a lot better than the farm where I was born!

What was the defining moment when you knew you were in your forever home?  The second night I was there, I decided I really liked the big bed and this was a LOT better than the farm; I knew that I wanted to stay in this new place. A few weeks later, I finally realized that word they kept saying was my name – I was five months old and had never had a name at the farm. When I got my name, I knew I was part of the family.

What has been your biggest “Oh no, now I’ve done it” moment so far in your home? I’ve only been here nine months. Other than the car sickness that had me spewing all over the inside of the car, I’ve been pretty good. Mom said that she’d raised four kids and had seen much worse; she took it in stride. I don’t get car sick any more, and I’m still here, so I guess we’re all good.

Who do you have wrapped around your paws more – mom or dad – and why? I’m a Daddy’s girl. I love them both, of course, but he takes me running with him sometimes. And when we go for family walks, he usually holds the leash. We both have long legs (Mom is a bit of a runt) and we belong together. I love to snuggle my Daddy the most.

What’s the biggest misconception that humans think about you?  They think I’m just another pretty face, but I am crazy smart. They underestimate me, which makes it just a little easier to get into mischief!

Hope you enjoyed meeting my friend – check back next week for another Spotlight edition!

Spotlight Thursday – Meet Tribble

Spotlight Thursday

Welcome my friends to SPOTLIGHT THURSDAY.  This is the time that I will introduce you to one of my fellow anipals so you can get to know them better.  Some of them, you may already know.  We hope that you enjoy this series!

Name:  Tribble

Age:  7  years

Location:  Colorado

Web/Blog Page:  https://peacewithmylife.com/

What were your first thoughts when you met your new parents?  I’ve never known a time without my parents – they’ve were there when I was born and have been there ever since. When I first met them, I knew they were warm and now I also know they are sweet!

What was the defining moment when you knew you were in your forever home?  I was supposed to be given to one of Daddy’s friends, and I was preparing myself to leave. Then Mom intervened and insisted they give his friend my sister. She wanted to keep me, even though she had promised Daddy that they weren’t going to keep any of Garnet’s puppies. Pretty soon, I realized that all my siblings had gone, and I was still there. Mom was so happy! When she told me I was staying I was really happy; I just adore my dog-mom, Garnet. I didn’t want to go live with strangers. I was so excited to stay home with her!

What has been your biggest “Oh no, now I’ve done it” moment so far in your home? I almost died one day, playing with Garnet in the back yard. Her tooth got caught in my collar and when she tried to get away, it pulled even tighter. I passed out. When I woke up, Mom was holding me to her chest, trying to get me to breath. It all worked out, and they took away our collars, but I was pretty scared I’d get in trouble. We were all okay, though, and I’ve been pretty good. Oh, except when I ate that dead bird and almost died from sepsis. They saved me with the help of some great veterinarians and lots of dough. I thought they’d be mad at me then, too, but they were so happy when I got home from the hospital that all was forgiven.

Who do you have wrapped around your paws more – mom or dad – and why? Mom, of course (giggle). She’s such a softy. It’s a good thing that she loves me. Dad has finally gotten over the fact that they kept one of Garnet’s puppies, thank goodness.

What’s the biggest misconception that humans think about you?  They still treat me like a kid! I’m a grown up, well, technically. But Garnet and I are always together, and since she’s in charge, that means I’m not. So, I understand that they still treat me like a little girl; I can take advantage of that, you know.

Hope you enjoyed meeting my friend – check back next week for another Spotlight edition!

Spotlight Thursday – Meet Garnet

Spotlight Thursday

Welcome my friends to SPOTLIGHT THURSDAY.  This is the time that I will introduce you to one of my fellow anipals so you can get to know them better.  Some of them, you may already know.  We hope that you enjoy this series!

Name:  Garnet

Age:  Unknown – Rescue

Location:  Colorado

Web/Blog Page:  https://peacewithmylife.com/

What were your first thoughts when you met your new parents?  I was on survival mode and didn’t pay much attention to Mom until she put me in the car. The car really scared me, and I wasn’t sure I could trust someone who had put me in a car! I hadn’t been out of the puppy mill for long, and I was too scared and depressed to get impressed over Mom or Dad.

What was the defining moment when you knew you were in your forever home?  I liked it when she got me a cool haircut; I’d never gotten to be pretty before! But after a few weeks, my secret was out. When my Mom figured out that I was pregnant when she got me, I thought that she wouldn’t want me. Or maybe she’d be like the puppy mill and only want me for breeding babies. But it wasn’t like that. She seemed to handle my pregnancy and when my puppies were born, she found them homes with friends of friends. That made me feel good, but I didn’t know I belonged until they got me “fixed.” I was more to them than a puppy-making machine! That’s when I knew that they cared.

What has been your biggest “Oh no, now I’ve done it” moment so far in your home? It was probably the fact that I was already in the “family way” when Mom picked me out. (*hangs head, embarrassed*) It all turned out okay, but I wasn’t sure it would. I do my best to stay out of the way and be a good girl.

Who do you have wrapped around your paws more – mom or dad – and why? I can’t choose who loves me more! Both my parents love me and I like them both. I give them both lots of attention; I’m a lucky girl. They even made me “alpha female.” My only job is to be on the greeting and security details. I may be small, but I’m well camouflaged. If I came after you, you wouldn’t know what hit you!

What’s the biggest misconception that humans think about you?  I don’t like the leash or the car, and when it’s trip time, I tend to run and hide. So they sometimes think that I don’t want to go with them – but I do want to go! Once I get to the place where the smells are new and interesting, I’m happy to be there. Mom lets me choose if I want a walk, and I appreciate that. She seems to know I’m scared, but she doesn’t always know how much I really want to go.

Hope you enjoyed meeting my friend – check back next week for another Spotlight edition!

Spotlight Thursday – Meet Tsunami

Spotlight Thursday

Welcome my friends to SPOTLIGHT THURSDAY.  This is the time that I will introduce you to one of my fellow anipals so you can get to know them better.  Some of them, you may already know.  We hope that you enjoy this series!

Name:  Tsunami (nickname, “Nami”)

Age:  13  years

Location:  Colorado

Web/Blog Page:  https://peacewithmylife.com/

What were your first thoughts when you met your new parents?  I’m not sure I understood their relevance. I’m an independent girl and was just pleased to see the food keep coming.

What was the defining moment when you knew you were in your forever home?  When my parents understood that I didn’t want to be picked up, I knew that I could make this home work. When I want to be adored, I’ll come to them and request petting. Otherwise, keep your hands off; I just have to be in control

What has been your biggest “Oh no, now I’ve done it” moment so far in your home? (*tail whips, rapidly*) I’m the perfect guest. I never hurk something up in the humans’ bed or shoes. I always use the litter box. I’ve done nothing inappropriate. Well, there was the one time I went camping with the humans, and I got out of the camper and took a walk in the woods. They chased after me, but I was always able to stay a few steps ahead. Mom was not amused, muttering things like “bear bait” and “going feral.” I finally let her catch me, but (*mad ears*) they don’t let me go camping with them anymore.

Who do you have wrapped around your paws more – mom or dad – and why? I go to mom for pets more often than I go to dad. But I’m not sure either of them is sufficiently wrapped around my paw the way that I would like.

What’s the biggest misconception that humans think about you?  They think that I’m an ordinary cat. As if! I’m involved with special, under-cover work while they think I’m sleeping, but of course, I’ll never tell what THAT’s about.

Hope you enjoyed meeting my friend – check back next week for another Spotlight edition!

Hemi and Daddy Bonding – Snorts

20130624-231939.jpg

To say that us animals control and walk all over the humans here at the Hotel Thompson is kind of an understatement.  Over the weekend, we all snuggled into the king size Select Comfort bed.  Hemi slept ‘with’ daddy.  Their setting is 100 – ha!  Me, Houdini and mom kind of like it a little softer.  Our setting is a 50.  You gotta love the Select Comfort!

20130624-231950.jpg

Notice Hemi’s position on TOP of daddy.  This is how he beds down.  Personally I think Hemi believes that daddy is his mattress.  He sleeps like this all of the time.  He often will reach his paw out and touch daddy on the face.  Sometimes, he will drift over for some mommy loving but we all know that Hemi is daddy’s little boy just like I’m mommy’s boy.  Humans are not the only ones that pick favorites – us animals do as well.  But to us, it’s a little different.  We know who we can wrap around our hooves and paws – 🙂 Would we do that?

20130626-075424.jpg

And you didn’t think that Hemi sleeps like this?  Just check out this bottom picture. The proof is in the picture.  He’s actually comfortable.  Touching dad’s face, his eyes closed and dreaming of chasing Journalist Rocky the Squirrel in the backyard.

But I have to ask you this – look at that paw?!  Do you understand what I mean now when I tell you it hurts when he slaps this little oinker on the fanny?  Piggy snorting with laughter!

Wags and Waves for Forrest Day

Welcome my friends to Wags and Waves for Forrest Day!  This day was put together by our Auntie Sharon of Gentle Stitches.  It’s a day created to help our friends Fozzie and her family at All Fur One and One Fur All  in the loss of their anipal Forrest (06/06/2003 – 04/27/2016) who is now an angel watching over all of us here.

Today, we are wagging and waving our tails as a tribute to a great guy in support of his family who is going through a rough time – as you can imagine.

Please my friends – I hope that you support the cause and do a posting on your blog today for this cause.  And if you get a chance, go visit Fozzie at  All Fur One and One Fur All  and let them know you are thinking of them.  You can also use this awesome badge that Sammy from One Spoiled Cat created.

And here we are my friends – our participation to Wags and Waves for Forest Day.  We know pal that you are watching over our Mouse Girl. ❤

Paw Time with Houdini

HA – BARKS!  Mommy said that this was the cutest tail that she has even seen – barks with puppy laughter.  Sorry Bacon and daddy – I gotta cute butt – what can I say?!  Okay I have to admit that in this picture, daddy had my upmost attention.  You can tell by the way I’m standing – the position of my cute tail and my one ear standing up.  Daddy was actually giving me a treat.  Just ignore dad’s holey shirt – barks!  Mommy says that his around the house shirt only.  And you know, this pooch will take as many and any kind of treats he can get.

And Bacon take notice of my t-shirt.  HA!  I know – I know.  I probably should not have gotten it but it was so darn cute.  And I gotta pick on my bro – if I don’t, who will, right?  Okay maybe Hemi will by slapping him on his hiney with his huge paw – now *that* is something I never get tired of watching.  Talk about amusement here around the Hotel Thompson.

And today is an awesome day my friends.  Do you know what today is?  I mean more than just being the obvious Friday?  Today is the last day at work for my mom.  She starts her holiday when she leaves work today.  YES – DO A LITTLE DANCE – HAPPY DANCE.  Nine entire days with having mommy at the Hotel Thompson.  I’m so excited I may wee myself!

Well that’s all for me my friends – yawns – I hope you had a wonderful week as well.  Happy weekend!

Dear Bacon

20130725-001451.jpg

Dear Bacon – Practice this look my friend.  This is the look that will get you everything and anything from your humans.  One wink and they melt.  Use this advice with caution though.  If you wink, your humans may get all goo-goo, pick you up and kiss you all over.  Signed Winks

Dear Winks – What an awesome gift buddy.  I’ll have to practice this in my bedroom in the mirror to get it down pact.  I can’t wait to try it out on my mom and Nana.  Happy winking!

20130725-001503.jpg

Dear Bacon – The proof is in the picture.  This is me helping out Santa last year.  You see Santa has all of the humans to deliver presents too and he needs help.  Me and about 500 of my friends help Santa out with the Christmas deliveries to anipals.  They believe too. Of course some of them get on the naughty list more so than humans – ha!  So keep on believing my oinker friend.  Signed Santa’s Helpers

Dear Santa Helpers – I do BELIEVE my friends.  I’ve heard Santa on my roof.  I’ve heard his boot steps in the living room.  AND I’ve seen Santa kissing my mommy last year at our Christmas Mickey Mouse pole lamp.  He is real!  And us anipals here at the Hotel Thompson really, REALLY try to stay on the good list.  Nobody wants coal in their stockings on Christmas morning.  Nope.  Not here.  Carry on with your awesome job my friends!

20130725-001540.jpgDear Bacon – Stop everything.  I gotta know.  What does a squirrel have to do to get a gig like that Journalist Rocky the Squirrel that lives in your backyard.  Dude, he has it made from what I can read.  He lives rent free at your Hotel.  Ya’ll give him nuts throughout the year.  He’s off limits for the dogs in the hood.  AND he gets to write on your blog.  What do I have to do for that position?  Signed Job in Need

Dear Job in Need – Journalist Rocky the Squirrel is a very special squirrel with talents.  He has an awesome resume and has worked all over the south.  Rocky also knows  several different languages from chitter-chatter to English to pig Latin and he also speaks Squatch.  Squatch comes in handy when our local Bigfoot comes out to play.  Send us your resume and we will pass it along to Rocky.  Perhaps he can forward somewhere for you. 🙂

20130725-001553.jpg

Dear Bacon – This is a new campaign I’m putting out there. “Paws out to Animal Abuse”.  We all have to make a stand.  Animals are meant for loving not harming.  Can you help me pass the word my friend?  Signed Just Say NO to Abuse

Dear Just Say NO to Abuse – I’m all in with four hooves my friend.  I’ll even throw in my part and say, “Hooves out to Animal Abuse”.  Animals have feelings and should never be harmed.  It makes my mohawk stand up straight on edge when I hear stories of my fellow anipals in harm.  We have nothing but love to give to humans and in turn that’s all we want from them.  Great cause my friend – stand strong!

REMEMBER my friends – Dear Bacon can’t happen without YOU.  Please remember to send me your pictures and letters – thanks!

Hemi Here

Hemi here peeps in blogville from the Hotel Thompson. Just wanted to chat with everyone for a minute.  There’s lots of stuff going on here at the Hotel – I mean LOTS.  And let me add that I know this is Bacon’s blog.  But Houdini gets his shots on Fridays and I heard that Oh Mouse Girl even got to post something last week.  Well, you know what they say about saving the best for last – meow!  So here I am.

First off.  Don’t believe everything the pig says about me.  Look at my picture.  Do I really look like the purr thing that would start something, finish it and leave a print on his butt?  Poo – of course I wouldn’t.  I’m as gentle as… well a pussy cat.  I wouldn’t hurt a fly… maybe take his wings off and play with him a bit.  That’s all.  Nothing major.

Second off.  I wouldn’t believe everything you read from Oh Mouse Girl about her relationship with the little guy Houdini. The that protests too much is usually guilty.  I’m just saying.  You haven’t seen some of the things that she does with the excuse of, “Something was in my eye.”  That excuse only goes so far in certain situations.  Really it does.

Third off.  Houdini.  Shakes head.  That tyke has more energy than the Duracell bunny at times.  He is non-stop go-go-go.  He is like a roller coaster that continually rides all day long.  He keeps us all young here with his antics.  And what you might have read about me taunting him – of course not.  Would I do that?  Nah!

And for those that have asked, does this look like the ginormous paw you have read about from everyone.  It’s not that huge at all.  No way!  I’ve seen bigger.  Does it look like the paw that would slap the pig’s butt?  Push Oh Mouse Girl around the Hotel Thompson?  Hold Houdini’s head so he can’t get me.  Of course not.

It’s a paw of love.  A mitten if you will of loyalty.  A gentle shake or touch of the face.  Nothing more.  It could never be used in combat.

So there you go peeps.  A little word for Master Hemi here at the Hotel Thompson.  I hope I’ve been able to set some things straight about what you have heard.
