Come Here Spring!

Dearest Mother Nature – Really?  This weather you are throwing at us is outrageous.  One day it’s in the 70’s and the next day it’s in the 30’s.  Daddy says you are going through – what did he call it? – menopause.  He says that’s the only way to explain the vast difference in temperatures.  I can’t tell you what mommy called it – it was a bad word.

Yesterday here it was beautiful.  It was the first day it hasn’t rained.  Which by the way it has rained so much that I think I’m sprouting feathers and quacking now instead of oinking.  Today when mom went to work, it was so dark I thought it was night.  Nope, it was the same time that she usually leaves.  It was dark because it looked like the sky was fixing to fall out with thunderstorms.  Lovely.

You know there are medicines that you can take for these mood swings.  If they don’t help, maybe you need to see a professional instead of taking this out on everyone in the world.  I’m just sayin’.

Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad

20130910-075632.jpg

Once upon a time, there was a cute little boy and a cute little girl.  They grew up relatively in the same area not too far away from each other.

20130910-075622.jpg

You know what they say about three degrees of separation?  It was the same in this situation.  They knew some of the same people.  He went to a private Christian school that she attended church at during the week.  They ate at some of the same restaurants. For all they knew, they might have passed each other during their childhood.  It was possible.

They grew up,  went through school and college.  Until one day, the girl applied for a job at a business that changed the course of her life.  She was interviewed by the mother of the boy who took an immediate liking to the girl.  In fact the liking was so much that the mother hired the girl for the job having a secret agenda.  The secret agenda was to have her son meet this girl and fall in love.

The mother introduced them and they went to lunch together for the first time on September 14,  1988.  It was an immediate chemistry and love was in the air.  The young boy courted the young girl throughout the years doing everything together.  There would be times that one wanted to get married but the other didn’t at the time and vice versa.  Not that they didn’t love each other but because they had things they wanted to get done first.  You know the things in life like finishing college and getting a solid paying job.  But throughout this time, families merged and got to know each other.

The young couple courted for 16 years.  Yes my friends, that is not a typo.  Life was good.  What was the rush?  They grew up and got set in their ways.  She bought a home and was taking care of herself and he was taking care of his parents and helping them.

Then on Valentine’s day February 14, 2004, the young man got down on one knee and asked THE question, “Will you marry me?”  The young girl was shocked and amazed.  Her response, “What’s the rush?”  A sense of humor that has maintained throughout their relationship – that’s a good thing.

The young girl accepted.  A date was discussed.  Sadly, the mother of the young man had passed away over the years.  In honor of her, they made a date for September 15, 2004.

20130910-075717.jpg

Now, this is the fun part.  Two lives merged as one into ONE household.  They said their I do‘s and moved in together for the first time.  What a wake up call!  PLOL (pig laughing out loud).

Today marks their 13th wedding anniversary or 29 years of being together.  Was it easy – nope.  Has their been good times and bad times – of course.  Every marriage has bumps in the road.  It’s how you travel over the bumps to the other side that makes a long lasting relationship.  It also helps that both of them have a really wicked sense of humor.  I mean look at me.  Who do you know would adopt a pig in their lives?  Enough said on that.

So today, we at the Hotel Thompson would like to wish mom and dad a Happy Anniversary.  Here’s to another 29 years of being together!

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

Santa Paws Came!!

SANTA PAWS CAME!

20121219-065235.jpg

He’s real!  Santa Paws came to the Hotel Thompson to see me! Oh my – thud – I almost couldn’t stand it. I’m in hog heaven here at the Hotel Thompson!

This is a list of what I have at the house now and trust me I am so happy – I haven’t had this many goodies in a long time!

  • 8 pounds of red apples – that’s right.  It’s not a typo – 8 POUNDS of red apples.  I love me some apples… any kind, any color.
  • 5 pounds of carrots – yep that’s another one – 5 POUNDS of carrots.  You would think that with all of the carrots that I eat that I would have excellent vision but I don’t.  But what I don’t have in vision, I make up in smelling.
  • Bulk celery – mmm – I love celery… even the little wisps of it that hang off at the top of celery.  Love that part!
  • Cabbage – that is one HUGE head of cabbage.  Mom will probably eat some of this cabbage too.  But do you know what the battle is going to be?  The core of the cabbage.  Me and mom both like to naw on the core of the cabbage.  Have you ever done that?  It’s got a little spice to it and so delicious!
  • My personal sized watermelon.  This is definitely a treat since it’s winter time here in Georgia.  Mom will cut it all up and put it in buckets in the refrigerator to get it cold.  She even cuts up the rind – I love the rind.
  • Bananas – You don’t see them in this picture because mom forgot to grab them.  She got me a whole bunch of 10 – 10 bananas all to myself.  Pig heaven – literally!  Can you believe that one time mom was holding a banana and I tried to crawl up her legs to get it?  Yeah, we had a little prayer meeting about that afterwards.  They are so delicious!

And we can’t forget about Houdini – OMP!  Houdini scored with some new clothes, a new bed and all kinds of doggy toys.

And the purr things Mouse Girl and Hemi – they are in love!  They got some nip, toys and a huge bag of treats.

And we all got our own electric blanket.  Can you believe that?!  Mom hooked it up over one end of our sofa so that her and daddy can click it on and off.  That way we can all lay on it and get cuddly warm – we all love that.

But you know what we got that was priceless?  Love.  Not just from mom/dad but from all of you our friends.  We can not thank you enough for that.  We all ❤ you!!  And we thank you all for the emails and Christmas cards that you sent to us here at the Hotel Thompson!

And special thanks to Easy ❤ who sent us these awesome presents:

And special thanks to Fozzie ❤ who sent us these awesome presents:

.

And special thanks to our dear sweet friends Kali and Shoko – ❤ OMP – their parents sent mom/dad something close to their heart – FOOD – snorts with piggy laughter.  Okay it was a gift card for FOOD – my daddy still passes out looking at the card.  He can’t wait to use them.  Thank you so very much my friends!  Can’t wait to see you soon.

And squeals!!  This just in.  We received this in the mail yesterday from Auntie Sharon.  A beautiful handmade scarf.  But this scarf has a story behind it.  The actual “yarn” was shorn from Fozzie’s sheep.  Then Auntie Sharon spun it on her spindle and made “yarn” for our scarves.  How special is that?!  I can’t say thank you enough.  I was so touched and absolutely LOVE it my sweet friends – smooches and thank you!!

Dear Bacon

Dear Bacon –  Get three of us they said.  We would all get along they said.  Brothers have a great bond together they said.  Yeah right.  Let me assure you though, the middle kid always gets picked on to the end of the days.  The first born is special and the last born is always the baby.  The middle kid – well they get it from both ends.  I should know.  That’s me in the tank.  Any suggestions?  Signed Stuck in the Middle

Dear Stuck in the Middle – WOW – that is a predicament to be in my friend.  Sometimes being stuck in the middle can be hard.  But you know what?  You gotta stand up for yourself, be strong and take charge.  Your brothers want to be stuffing you in the pot – well you might just need to stuff something in their beds – winks.  Or you can always leave a little puddle in the kitchen and accidentally blame them of course.  I’m just saying.  Stay safe okay.

Dear Bacon – My humans are the bomb.  They brought this box home for me and I was so excited.  That is until they started laughing and then took this picture of me.  I don’t get it.  Signed Grumps

Dear Grumps – Gulps.  Okay – trying to keep a straight face here.  It’s kind of hard to figure out why your humans would be laughing.  Really.  You are so beautiful and happy in your new found kingdom.  Shakes head – I just can’t imagine.  You just have fun in that little box and let your humans have their moment.

Dear Bacon –  My dad said walk and of course I was already at the door ready to go.  That’s when he did something to my back captains quarters.  I didn’t get it but I tell you something.  We met some of the happiest humans on our walk today.  Everyone was so nice and kept coming over to talk to us and pet me.  It was almost like I was a movie star or something.  So great.  Signed Happy

Dear Happy – I think it had to be your outgoing personality, how handsome you are and how you smile at everything that passes you by.  Yep, that has to be it.  Keep passing the happy along my friend!

Dear Bacon –  Oh dear doggy heavens my friend.  My human mom was in the bathroom doing her ‘nightly’ rituals.  I’m usually asleep when she does this but tonight I had stayed up.  OMD!  When she came out of the bathroom, I didn’t even recognize the alien that she had become.  She had green stuff all over her face, her hair was in some kind of sling and she was talking like a mummy.  Has your mom done anything like this before?  It was kind of scary.  I think I might have passed out.  Signed Passed Out

Dear Passed Out – Oh friend, the humans they call this beautifying.  I don’t get it either.  I mean, you wouldn’t see us putting that stuff on our faces.  Although one time, mom did talk dad into trying what she called a mud pack.  Shaking my piggy head – that did kind of look fun.  She told me it was similar to me playing in the mud in my backyard.  I was hoping dad would roll in the mud with me later but he didn’t.  Weird huh?

Dear Bacon – Sometimes when one has to wear the cone of shame, you just need a happy friend to help make the days go by faster.  I was feeling kind of down.  You can only imagine – you know people in the hood making fun of me, not being able to drink my water with this contraption on and just not being able to lick myself while wearing this cone.  That’s when my buddy Clampet came and napped with me.  Just for a few moments, life was normal again.  Signed Jedd

Dear Jedd – Hopefully your cone will only be temporary my friend.  And hey, don’t you care what others say about your cone of shame.  All of us have to wear it at least once in our lifetime.  You and your friend just continue bonding together and happy mending.

REMEMBER friends – Dear Bacon can’t happen without YOU.  Please continue to send me your pictures and letters via my email.

Dear Bacon

Dear Bacon – Sometimes I smell things.  And then I see things.  No, i’m not a ghost.  You see it seems like the yard next to me has it going on with Stacy’s mom.  She’s always grilling and hanging out near the pool.  I just want to go over and play.  The other day, the laughter and the smells were so wonderful.  I stuck my head under the gate to see what was taking place.  I wasn’t really stuck but I acted like it to get everyone’s attention.  They came to the gate and invited me over.  What a party!  Signed Pup of the Party

Dear Pup of the Party – Hey dude, it sounds like you had the plan for the party.  You got an invite – I knew you would with that cute little grin.  Now go and play like a good fellow – tell Stacy’s mom I said hey.

Dear Bacon – My master likes to play in the yard and work the ground for a garden.  Rolls my doggy eyes.  I’ll help to a certain point – especially when he is planting the watermelon.  Who doesn’t love watermelon, right?  This is me helping my master out by holding his tools.  And I always say safety first – wear a hat to keep the sun out of your face.  Signed Garden Patch

Dear Garden Patch – Hey my friend I like the way you think.  Maybe your master should give my mom some lessons on growing watermelons.  I love those big balls of wonder.  They are so tasty – I even like eating the rind.  Licks piggy lips.  Now look what you have done.  My miniature pot-belly is rumbling for the hungry of a watermelon.  Maybe its not too late in the stores for mom to pick me up one?  I love you being a helping paw.  I think the humans could use more of them.  Take care my friend – happy gardening.

Dear Bacon – You *always* have that one sibling that can’t keep their tongue out of your ear.  Purrs in aggravation.  Dory has been ‘grooming’ my ear now for twenty minutes.  Can you please make her go away?  If I screech at her, she’ll run to mommy that I’m not playing nice.  Girls – eeww.  Signed Marlin

Dear Marlin – Girls.  That’s all you had to say my friend.  You can’t live with them and you definitely can’t live without them.  You have nerves of steel to let your sister Dory bother you for that long.  Hopefully, it will be over soon.  If not, perhaps you can stretch and tell her you need a bathroom break.  Just a thought!

Dear Bacon – I am not amused.  Really, I’m not.  The human insisted that I needed a bath.  I could have done my own thank you very much.  But no – the human wanted to give me one.  Help me.  That’s all I gotta say and I’m thinking my look says it all.  Signed Cat in a Shower Cap

Dear Cat in a Shower Cap – Well, wait a minute I need to get a straight face for this, you look all nice and clean.  How ironical that your mom picked out a Tweety Bird towel for you.  It’s kind of fitting.  And that shower cap – OMP – perfect.  No sense in getting water in those cute little perky ears.  Go with it my friend.

.

Dear Bacon –  Some people use dowsing rods to find paranormal activity.  I don’t need those.  Some people even use a sixth sense to find paranormal activity.  I don’t need those either.  Heck, I don’t need to find anything paranormal.  I just need to find food.  And let me tell you, with these ears of mine I can find all of the food I want.  They lead me and I follow.  There’s much to appreciate in letting your ears lead you.  Signed Food on the Run

Dear Food on the Run – I say let it be my friend – let it be!  Lead on to the food and pig out!

REMEMBER friends.  Dear Bacon can’t happen without YOU.  Please continue to send me your pictures and questions via email.
