Happy Mothers Day Moms!!

Today is a wonderful and glorious day – Mother’s Day.  I appreciate my birth mother, Bertha, and I love her very much.  If it wasn’t for her and my dad Champ, I wouldn’t be here, right?  Snorts.  So I’m very thankful for my mother – Happy Mother’s Day mommy Bertha.

I’m also very thankful for my adopted mother.  Mommy Bertha gave me life but my adopted mom gave me a home full of love.

I’m also very thankful for my nana.  If it wasn’t for her, I wouldn’t have my adopted mommy.  See how these things work?

I am so excited to share this date with you my friends and wish you all a wonderful Mother’s Day filled with love and snuggable hugs.

Trivia Knowledge – did you know that the first Mother’s Day was May 10, 1908 in Philadelphia.  That’s good trivia knowledge that I learned from Journalist Rocky the Squirrel.

So from all of us here at the Hotel Thompson –

HAPPY MOTHER’S DAY – WE LOVE YOU!!

Daddy is What?!

Shaking my head.  Oh my friends – will I be having a new brother or sister??  Should I be excited?  I saw this video and have been squealing every since.  What do you think?  Too soon for me to make plans?  Daddy says he’s having a baby elephant because he can already see the trunk.  Cool beans – I’m going to have a baby elephant as a brother!!

May I Introduce Nana’s New Pet…. Alligator

You see a couple of weeks ago when mom/dad were running loose on Tybee Island, they came across an egg.  A little egg.  Mom said no one was looking so she and dad picked up the egg and took it to Nana.  What could possibly go wrong, right?

So mom gave the strange egg to Nana.  Nana was excited… until she got up one day to find the egg cracked and a mysterious creature was then running wild in her home.  She searched under the couch, in the bedrooms, in the closets, all over you might as well say.  Nana didn’t know what to expect when she found this creature.

Then Nana went into the kitchen to wash her dishes and what did she find?!  An ALLIGATOR sitting in one of her bowls.  OMP!  Nana has a pet alligator?  She was so excited and was on the verge of making birth announcements when mom just happen to show up at her house with Ace Ventura on speed dial.  The gator was so cute – Nana didn’t want to give him up.  So she named him Ralphie and made him a permanent home in her house.  Let’s just hope that she doesn’t get bored with him and flush him down the toilet.

Bacon’s Show and Tell

YAY – Welcome to February’s Bacon’s Show and Tell.  This month my brother Easy suggested to share the story about the day you (or your humans) were born.  This time around, I’m going to talk about the day I was born.  Alright my friends, bundle up around the keyboard for an adventure.

“It was September 15, 2011.  My mom, Bertha, was in the barn in Bruxton, Georgia.  I remember the world being dark and then all of a sudden there was light. I felt hay underneath me and I could feel my mom.  Her tongue started lapping at me and when she did, I let out my first squeal.  I was the last born in what they call our liter.  That was my first thoughts of being in the real world.

As a couple of days passed, I realized that my mom had her hooves full with my brothers and sisters.  And those brothers and sisters, they looked so much bigger than me.  They bullied me around and I learned real quick last one that saddles up to breakfast is the loser.  And unfortunately my little piggy body didn’t have the strength as the others.

I remember the farmers coming in the barn and watching a lot for the first couple of days.  They would whisper and point at me so I knew they were discussing what would happen.  The lady farmer finally said she had enough and took me into what she called the big house.

The big house was awesome.  The lady farmer was so nice and would feed me with a bottle some mushy stuff.  I assure you – this kind of service was a lot better than fighting with my siblings for the breakfast buffet with mom.  As the days passed, they said I got stronger and stronger.  I even adapted to living indoors and being held.  At that time, I even thought I had it made.

But everyday the farmers would come in and say that my siblings were being adopted out to families.  All except for me.  They kept calling me a runt.  I wasn’t sure what that was but sometimes it didn’t feel like it was a good thing.  The lady farmer kept saying there would be a day that my forever family would come for me too.  We just couldn’t give up hope.

Then one day, the lady farmer got a phone call.  It was some woman inquiring about piggies.  The lady farmer told the woman they only had one left that was a runt – but the piggy was so cute and loving – but looking for their forever home.  The woman asked the lady farmer to send her a picture and she did.  A short time later, the woman called back and I could hear her voice and how she oohheed and awweed over the picture.  After they hung up, the lady farmer told me that my forever family was coming for me the next day.  Who would have thought?!  I was the last to be born and the last to be adopted but I was going to have a family too.  But then I stopped with the excitement.  What if they didn’t like me?  What if I didn’t like them?

I hardly slept at all that night – part in anticipation and part regretting having to leave my first home.  Then, the moment came.  The woman on the phone showed up and I recognized her voice.  OMP!  As soon as I saw her, I was in love.  The lady farmer showed her how to hold me.  Once I was in her hands – it was like heaven and coming home.  I crawled up to her neck, breathed in a deep smell of her and gently went to sleep.  The lady farmer told my new mommy that meant I loved her.  And, we have never looked back again.

31 Days of Spook – Story Submission

Oh my friends.  I do hope you have been enjoying my 31 Days of Spook with me this year.  I have had so much fun sharing with you so many spooky things – things that go bump in the night – things that create shadows in the dark – things that maybe make you do a double take.  Today, I have another story submission.  This one is from my great friend Fozzie in Australia.  Do you know Fozzie?  If not, you need to go visit her now and check her out.  She’s got some great stories and photographs from Australia that will absolutely blow you away.  Check her out and tell her this little oinker sent you 🙂  And thanks Fozzie for a great story my friend ❤

“When I came home from hospital with Rhiannon..(some 29 years ago), we lived in a small two bedroom flat. Bradley, our eldest, was in his own room and Rhiannon slept in a cot in our room.  She must have been about a month old when this happened.

We had in our room an old white wicker chair, you know the type that belongs on a porch under the shade of a wisteria. This chair was my grandmas (she was still alive at the time of this incident). Now the story went my grandma and her sister had some to and fro’s over who got to have this chair..and as it happened my grandma got it.. her sister is now deceased. I always loved it and my grandma was happy to give it to me.  And so it sat in the corner of our bedroom..

One night I was woken with the fright of my life.  As I lay on my side asleep, I felt a hand grab my shoulder! I sat bolt upright frozen. Phil was fast asleep. Rhiannon fast asleep. Me wide awake and terrified!

I woke Phil and made him get up to check the flat all over…nothing. I went back to bed..but not to sleep. This happened again for the next three nights. I was terrified so badly that I went to my doctor.

I told him I was sure I was losing my mind, such a violent grab and yet nothing!  My doctor, such a cool young guy he was, simply said to me, ““There’s a lot more to life than what we think. You aren’t nuts, just experiencing something you are not tuned to.”

Eventually, I relaxed a bit more and the grabbing stopped…after I politely asked it to stop as I was needing sleep…since then I have lots of special things happen. Life indeed is a weird and mysterious journey.”
