Moral of the Story

A pastor entered his donkey in a race and it won. He was so pleased with his donkey that he entered it a 2nd time and it won again. The local paper read: “PASTOR’S ASS OUT FRONT.” The Bishop was so upset with this kind of publicity that he ordered the Pastor not to enter the donkey in another race.

The next day, the local paper headline read: “BISHOP SCRATCHES PASTORS ASS.” This was too much for the Bishop, so he ordered the pastor to get rid of the donkey.

The pastor decided to give it to a nun in a nearby convent. The local paper, upon hearing of the news, posted the following headline the next day: “NUN HAS BEST ASS IN TOWN.” The Bishop fainted. He informed the nun that she would have to get rid of the donkey, so she sold it to a farmer for $10.

The next day the paper read: “NUN SELLS ASS FOR $10.” This was too much for the bishop so he ordered the nun to buy back her donkey and lead it to the plains where it could run wild. The next day the headlines read:”NUN ANNOUNCES HER ASS IS WILD AND FREE.”

The bishop was buried the next day.

The moral of the story is – being concerned about public opinion can bring you grief and misery and even shorten your life. So be yourself and enjoy life..  You’ll be a lot happier and live longer.

Journal to Healthier Living – Week 24

Welcome my friends.  I’m tweaking my weekly journey with my healthier living.  It’s a step in the right direction for sure.  I hope you come along for the ride.  Instead of day-to-day comments, I’m going to post something from my personal journal to share.  Hope you enjoy.  Remember all of us go down this path and we are all in it together ❤

Week of  06/17-06/23/2018 – Week 24

“Dear Journal – “When did life become a hurry?  Everyone seems to be in such a rush.  People flying down the road – they have to be first.  The same person that was behind you has to go around you to be in front.  People are rushing through the stores cutting in front of you and grabbing things.  People constantly talking on their cell phones.  Life needs to slow down.  People need to slow down.  What happened to sitting on the deck just breathing and relaxing?  People are constantly multi-tasking.  I think this week I will slow a bit.  Relax.  Sit and enjoy dinner with the family.  Talk.  Enjoy just being together and not rushing.”

Journal to Healthier Living – Week 15

Welcome my friends.  I’m tweaking my weekly journey with my healthier living.  It’s a step in the right direction for sure.  I hope you come along for the ride.  Instead of day-to-day comments, I’m going to post something from my personal journal to share.  Hope you enjoy.  Remember all of us go down this path and we are all in it together ❤

Week of 04/15-04/21/2018 – Week 15

“Dear Journal – Sometimes you need to sit, simmer, breathe and just be for a bit.  I’ve been trying to go out on the back deck at night right at dusk just to do this.  A little meditation all to myself just to be in the moment and let things go.  I’ve been stressed lately.  I can admit that.  Nothing in particular but everything all rolled up into one festering just waiting to explode.  Nothing specific you can put your finger on of what is pushing you over the edge.  Then something little happens and everything explodes with you ending up crying like a big baby… over what?  Who knows?  It’s been that way for the past couple of months.  But last week something happened.  Something positive.  And with that positive happening, life settled back down again into the right puzzle pieces and all felt right in the world.  What have I been stressed over?  Who knows and at this point who cares.  Life is good now.  Funny how that happens in life, right?  So what does this teach us?  Live the moment, good and bad, remember to breathe and that this soon will pass ❤

Week of 03/11-03/17/2018 – Week 10

“Dear Journal – Do you ever feel like time is slipping away.  You look in the mirror one day and you love your curly hair and your long legs.  You look again and your hair is thinning and those once long giraffe legs now resemble a short buffalo?  LOL – okay nothing that drastic but you get the meaning.  Life is short.  We talked about celebrities aging today… and then realized that we were also aging.  We still act like kids young at heart while our bodies get older every day.  What once we thought would never happen to us when our grandparents couldn’t get up as fast or walk as far has now hit us… no full force yet but knocking on the door for short visits.  We say it all of the time – life is short.  So what do we do?  Live it up every.single.day as if it is the last.  Because you never know – tomorrow is not a given 🙂 ”

This week the hub unit was craving homemade fried shrimp and his beloved tater tots.  I use to limit these meals because of the deep frying and I still do.  But, I wanted to see what the air fryer could do for my hub’s favorite meal.  I bought fresh shrimp, deveined them and slightly pounded them giving them a ‘flat’ appearance.  I then battered the shrimp with a light coating of egg mixture and seasoned flour.  I placed them in the air fryer for 20 minutes at 400 degrees.  Have way, I turned them and added the tater tots.  They came out beautifully!  Lightly tanned on the outside, crunchy and so juicy on the inside.

Week of 02/18-02/24/2018 – Week 7

“Dear Journal – It seems like food choices are beginning to become easier in decision making.  That’s a great and awesome thing.  If you would have told me this time last year I would be choosing water over a soda, I would have laughed at you.  I was so addicted to fully leaded soda!  It’s such a relief to break myself of that addiction.  I don’t have to worry about diet soda… I would much rather drink water anytime.  And I think water is so much better for my skin as well.  This was definitely a good week of eating.  I need to pick up the exercise a bit more.  I’ve been doing a combination of walking and exercise.  There are seven exercises that I’m trying to incorporate into my routine everyday.  It’s working for me and that is what matters.  I think I’m going to rope the hub unit in doing those seven exercises with me every evening.  It may make things go faster and it would certainly help to boost both of us for sure.”

Journal to Healthier Living – Week 5

Welcome my friends.  I’m tweaking my weekly journey with my healthier living.  It’s a step in the right direction for sure.  I hope you come along for the ride.  Instead of day-to-day comments, I’m going to post something from my personal journal to share.  Hope you enjoy.  Remember all of us go down this path and we are all in it together ❤

Week of 02/04-02/10/2018 – Week 5

“Dear Journal – I had intentions of having a perfect week this week with all of my circles completed.  It didn’t happen.  Six days out of seven I’m taking and doing a high five to myself.  Even God rested one day. I have to work out something I couldn’t do the rest of my life – not a quick fix.  If I take one or two days off, good for me.  I love my Apple i-Watch.  It gets me up/going and reminds me to do such.  However, it also brings out the OCD in me and being perfect.  I have to find an equal balance.”

Dear Journal – I broke down and found a pair of jeans that actually fit and didn’t seem like a family had moved out of them.  So from a size 26 to now a size 22.  And I actually bought my first ever button up shirt.  I have *never* worn button up shirts for obvious reasons.  With my breast size they way the were, button up shirts did not stay buttoned up.  My shirts were a 3XL and now I’m down to 1XL.  Small changes but it’s working this plan of mine.  I keep on walking.  Who knows what this summer will bring.”

Update on my Air Fryer.  Let me introduce you to Elite – my air fryer.  Fits nicely on the counter and has little suction cups to keep it stable.  One of the meals we prepared this week was steak and waffle fries – both done in the air fryer.  The steaks came out awesome.  We cooked two this size at one time around 5 minutes.  Next time, I will take the time down a bit for more our liking.  The waffle fries cooked 4 minutes and came out perfect!  They were crunchy and awesome!!

Paw Time with Houdini

Welcome my friends to another week of Paw Time with Houdini.  Let’s talk a little about life.

Sometimes you have to stop in life.  Just stop and breathe for a bit.  Relax a little.  Enjoy your being… your environment.  Know that you are safe.  Know that you are loved.  Know that you are cared for.  Let yourself go and know nothing will happen to you.  You are safe.  You are held and loved.  Your humans would never let anyone or anything harm you in any way.  Sometimes that is the best sleep.  Laying on your mom’s chest.  Hearing her heartbeat matching it to your own.  Thump.thump.thump… slowly and solid hearing her breathe and feeling it on you.  Sighs…a happy life.

Please Keep Our Friends in Your Thoughts

Our friends from All Fur One and One Fur All really need our prayers.  Forrest and his humans are having a tough time.  Please visit him here and leave him a message ❤

Dear Forrest – we’ve never met in person but it seems like I’ve known you all my life.  You are a brave dog – very loved with so much to give.  I didn’t know what to say in your situation.  I searched the internet and came across a poem that really touched my heart.  I read it and cried through it with mom.  We love you dude!

Please Join us for Anipal Appreciation Day

Attention fellow anipals and humans.  Me and my Cousin Sammy have collaborated together to initiate Anipal Appreciation Day scheduled for February 15, 2016.  What better time to get together and share the love than the month of February.

Whether you are a cat, a dog, a horse, a bird, a bun bun, a pig or a human – let’s get together for a day surrounded by love.  Why wait for the could have, should have or would have after one of us crosses the Rainbow Bridge.  Let’s celebrate life now and let each other know what they mean to us.

For example, my Cousin Sammy.  I’ve known him for years now.  He is a great guy – a bestest friend and always willing to lend a helping paw.  He goes out of his way to make you feel loved and welcomed even though at times I know he doesn’t feel well.  And you know what?  He gets that from his humans.  And technically, he and I *may* be related somewhere down the road with his parents and my parents being second, third or fourth cousins or something.  So there’s a shout out to my buddy.

This is what we are asking you to do.  Join me and Cousin Sammy on February 15, 2016. The rules are as follows:

Rules for Anipal Appreciation Day:

  1. Post your Anipal Appreciation Day blog on FEBRUARY 15, 2016.
  2. Title your blog Anipal Appreciation Day.
  3. Put the badge below on your blog post for the day.
  4. Give shout outs not only in the posting of your blog but throughout the day with the comments you may get.  There is no set number of shout out’s you are required to do – let your heart lead you.  We are *not* leaving anyone out.  If you don’t make the post on a blog, be sure to check messages and comments throughout the day that people and anipals might leave.
  5. If you can, link back your shout outs in your blogs for them to find.
  6. HAVE FUN!  This is the most important rule – have FUN and share the LOVE!
