What a great day to celebrate – National Dog Day! Today’s celebration has two goals: * To honor our glorious friends the dogs AND * To rescue dogs from homeless shelters and abuse
Dogs are loyal and great companions to so many people. They give us unquestionable love and are always there to cheer you up. They offer free kisses (like Houdini here at the Hotel Thompson). Humans and other anipals count on them in so many different ways. There are dogs that are pets. There are dogs that are working dogs – like those that help lead the blind and help in search and rescue. Regardless of what type of dog you are, most humans count you as family.
Today, let’s celebrate the dog in your family. If you don’t have a dog in your family, visit a friend that has one. Or for that matter, why don’t you visit a shelter and visit with a dog there… maybe even take one home with you 🙂

Brigham Young University has a very strict dress code. Of course, you might see a single ear piercing in each ear on a woman but more than likely no more than that. And of course, none in men. You won’t see tattoo’s either and no tank tops bearing midriffs. And you won’t see any of the colorful hair designs or spiked hair that you might see at some other colleges. But here’s something you might not know.
Male students enrolled at Brigham Young University need a doctor’s note to grow a beard. Yep, you heard that right. It’s in the Brigham Young University honor code. No beards. Men can have a trimmed mustache – but no beard. The only exception is for medical reasons and then there is a step by step process to get approved to grow a beard.
Thoughts?

Memorial Day is a federal holiday in the United States. On this day, which occurs every year on the last Monday of May, we remember the men and women who have died while serving our country.
Many people on this day will visit cemeteries and memorials placing an American flag at graves to honor our fallen heros.
Let’s remember that appreciation is not only one day out of the year – it’s year round.
Thank you to all of those who have died while serving our great country! I think this picture says it all.

Welcome my friends to Wags and Waves for Forrest Day! This day was put together by our Auntie Sharon of Gentle Stitches. It’s a day created to help our friends Fozzie and her family at All Fur One and One Fur All in the loss of their anipal Forrest (06/06/2003 – 04/27/2016) who is now an angel watching over all of us here.
Today, we are wagging and waving our tails as a tribute to a great guy in support of his family who is going through a rough time – as you can imagine.
Please my friends – I hope that you support the cause and do a posting on your blog today for this cause. And if you get a chance, go visit Fozzie at All Fur One and One Fur All and let them know you are thinking of them. You can also use this awesome badge that Sammy from One Spoiled Cat created.
And here we are my friends – our participation to Wags and Waves for Forest Day. We know pal that you are watching over our Mouse Girl. ❤

Attention fellow anipals and humans. Me and my Cousin Sammy have collaborated together to initiate Anipal Appreciation Day scheduled for February 15, 2016. What better time to get together and share the love than the month of February.
Whether you are a cat, a dog, a horse, a bird, a bun bun, a pig or a human – let’s get together for a day surrounded by love. Why wait for the could have, should have or would have after one of us crosses the Rainbow Bridge. Let’s celebrate life now and let each other know what they mean to us.
For example, my Cousin Sammy. I’ve known him for years now. He is a great guy – a bestest friend and always willing to lend a helping paw. He goes out of his way to make you feel loved and welcomed even though at times I know he doesn’t feel well. And you know what? He gets that from his humans. And technically, he and I *may* be related somewhere down the road with his parents and my parents being second, third or fourth cousins or something. So there’s a shout out to my buddy.
This is what we are asking you to do. Join me and Cousin Sammy on February 15, 2016. The rules are as follows:
Rules for Anipal Appreciation Day:
- Post your Anipal Appreciation Day blog on FEBRUARY 15, 2016.
- Title your blog Anipal Appreciation Day.
- Put the badge below on your blog post for the day.
- Give shout outs not only in the posting of your blog but throughout the day with the comments you may get. There is no set number of shout out’s you are required to do – let your heart lead you. We are *not* leaving anyone out. If you don’t make the post on a blog, be sure to check messages and comments throughout the day that people and anipals might leave.
- If you can, link back your shout outs in your blogs for them to find.
- HAVE FUN! This is the most important rule – have FUN and share the LOVE!

Don’t forget to thank a veteran! We live due to veterans fighting for our freedom. They are much appreciated, not just today, but everyday!
My country,’ tis of thee,
sweet land of liberty, of thee I sing;
land where my fathers died,
land of the pilgrims’ pride,
from every mountainside let freedom ring!
My native country, thee,
land of the noble free, thy name I love;
I love thy rocks and rills,
thy woods and templed hills;
my heart with rapture thrills, like that above.
Let music swell the breeze,
and ring from all the trees sweet freedom’s song;
let mortal tongues awake;
let all that breathe partake;
let rocks their silence break, the sound prolong.
Our fathers’ God, to thee,
author of liberty, to thee we sing;
long may our land be bright
with freedom’s holy light;
protect us by thy might, great God, our King.

And P.S. my friends –
We would like to send out a speedy recovery to our pal Easy’s dad. We are so glad to hear that you are back at home and recuperating – now we can finally breathe! It seemed like we were all holding our breath waiting to hear something about your condition. Mom wanted to jump a plane to come be by your mom’s side so bad. Please take it easy and take care of YOU – and hey – NO MORE ROOF TOP ADVENTURES okay. XOXO

Okay my friends – I have to ask. Do you think I should buy this for the little guy here at the Hotel Thompson – Houdini? Don’t you think that he would just look absolutely cute as heck wearing this? Snorts – too much? Not enough?
He’s an alright kind of guy – don’t tell him I said that. You know we share a bedroom. Do you know that he snores? For a little six pound pup, he can shake the rafters. Really, pig’s honor. I’m not lying.
I just thought if I bought him a shirt – since he likes to dress up – it might show him that I do kind of like him… for a puppy.
So what do you think – yes or no for the shirt? Snorts – happy Saturday!

I just got the Liebster Award from Marisa at http://mokyandmarisa.wordpress.com/
Thanks my friends ((HUGS)). I’m so excited that I could hardly oink for a few minutes. I just walked around with a glaze look in my eyes. Mom and dad were concerned. All I could do was point at my laptop with my hoove. Then they got excited, was speechless and had a glazed look in their eyes. We are *so* very much honored.

11 Random Facts About Little Ole Me – Bacon –
.
- I had really long hair for a pig but I’ve recently lost all of my baby fur. It’s finally growing back – thank goodness! It’s at that itchy stage right now so mom puts baby lotion all over me – I love that! 🙂
- I have a flat screen television in my room connected to cable, Netflix and DVD. I watch television all of the time. I watch a lot of cartoon classics like The Flintstones, The Jetsons, Scooby Doo. I also like to watch the ‘Who Done It” shows.
- My favorite snack in the entire world is a tie between apples and bananas. I once climbed up mom’s leg to get to a banana.
- Every night after dinner, I sit on the couch and snuggle with mom watching television with her.
- When mom tucks me into my bed at night, she *always* reads me a bedtime story.
- I asked mom and dad for a pet of my own. We have discussed the possibilities and one has been chosen. It will be posted soon. I absolutely can not wait!
- I understand human…. especially when it comes from my mommy. She can tell me to do things and I do. For instance I know: go get ready for bed; go to the bathroom; come with me; go to the kitchen and don’t eat the purr things – that one is really frowned on at the Hotel Thompson – snort LOL
- Dad takes care of me during the day at the Hotel Thompson. He provides room service, clean linens and turn down service.
- I have the best nana in the entire world! She buys me apples, bananas, animal crackers and carrots. She is wonderful to her grandpig!
- I have a cousin named Sherlock Bones who is a bassett hound that lives in Louisiana.
- I am mom’s alarm clock. I wake her up during the week every morning at 6:30AM sharp to get ready for the worky place. On weekends, we all sleep in and then get up together.

Answer the questions the tagger has set for you –
.
.
- What is the weirdest dream you’ve had? Well, there’s been a lot of weird dreams in my little piggy life. One time, mom let me stay up and watch my first scary movie. It was called Jaws. Shivers – it still upsets me! I dreamed that night I was surfing and Jaws came up and ate me. It was horrible!
- What keeps you motivated? This one is easy – food – doesn’t matter what kind. I just about love every thing!
- How do you feel about other blogs that talk about blogs they dislike? I think it’s unfair. Everyone has a right to blog about what they want. If you don’t like it, don’t read it.
- How many bathrooms does your dream house have? Well, let’s see. Mom and dad have to have their own bathroom. The purr things have their own space. I have my own space. Three would be awesome.
- What are your favorite pizza toppings? Definitely cheese – I love cheese. I also like black olives, green peppers and chicken – 🙂
- What would you change your name to if you could? I already have the coolest name – Bacon Porkchop Thompson!
- Would you change your blog name if you could? My blog name kind of tells you everything – piglove
- Which website do you visit most during the day? Google and mine of course!
- How many pets do you have? I personally don’t have any pets…yet 🙂 In our house, we have 1 pig (moi), two purr things, a mommy and a daddy.
- If you could buy an island, which one would it be? Tybee Island
- If you could name a star, what would you name it? Of course – Bacon! 🙂

On September 11, 2001, horrible terrorist actions took place in the United States. Hijackers took over American Airlines Flight 11 and United Airlines Flight 175 crashing the planes into the North and SouthTowers of the WorldTradeCenter in New York City.
Other hijackers took over American Airlines Flight 77 crashing into the Pentagon in Arlington, Virginia.
Other hijackers attempted to pilot a fourth hijacked jet, United Airlines Flight 93, to crash into the United StatesCapitolBuilding in WashingtonD.C. However, passengers attempted to take control of the flight and crashed in a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
Nearly 3,000 people died in these attacks. Each year in the United States, we now refer to September 11 as Patriot Day, or 9/11. This is to honor those who lost their lives in the senseless terrorist act. We will never forget and we will always remember.
