Journal to Healthier Living – Week 15

Welcome my friends.  I’m tweaking my weekly journey with my healthier living.  It’s a step in the right direction for sure.  I hope you come along for the ride.  Instead of day-to-day comments, I’m going to post something from my personal journal to share.  Hope you enjoy.  Remember all of us go down this path and we are all in it together ❤

Week of 04/15-04/21/2018 – Week 15

“Dear Journal – Sometimes you need to sit, simmer, breathe and just be for a bit.  I’ve been trying to go out on the back deck at night right at dusk just to do this.  A little meditation all to myself just to be in the moment and let things go.  I’ve been stressed lately.  I can admit that.  Nothing in particular but everything all rolled up into one festering just waiting to explode.  Nothing specific you can put your finger on of what is pushing you over the edge.  Then something little happens and everything explodes with you ending up crying like a big baby… over what?  Who knows?  It’s been that way for the past couple of months.  But last week something happened.  Something positive.  And with that positive happening, life settled back down again into the right puzzle pieces and all felt right in the world.  What have I been stressed over?  Who knows and at this point who cares.  Life is good now.  Funny how that happens in life, right?  So what does this teach us?  Live the moment, good and bad, remember to breathe and that this soon will pass ❤

This week walked: 6.90

TOTAL 2018 Miles:  111.97

TOTAL 2017 Miles:  541.06

small goals turn into big accomplishments ❤

National Stress Awareness Day

Journalist Rocky the Squirrel here –

Keeping his paws on the nuts of the world –

Today April 16th is a day that Bacon’s mom can definitely wrap her arms around – National Stress Awareness Day.  This day was created in 1992 sponsored by  the Health Resource Network (HRN). They started this holiday to increase public awareness of the causes and cures of stress.  And we all know that stress can come from a variety of different reasons:  paying bills, work, children, schedules, car problems, friends – you name it and stress can come from it.  And here in the United States with taxes being due yesterday, what better day to have this holiday then today?

Today is the day to acknowledge that you are stressed out and then do something about it.  Go for a walk.  Try some meditation.  Try some exercise.  Do some yoga.  Just lay down and relax.  Just for a bit, don’t concentrate on the wrongs in your life but concentrate on the things that you have to be grateful for.  Shrug off this stress even if it is just for today.  I know this afternoon me and Bacon are going to try yoga.  Wish us luck – his downward pig pose is not something I’m looking forward to – chitter chatter!

Dear Bacon

20130220-081219.jpg

Dear Bacon – I’m a clown in the circus.  I love working in the circus except for one thing – I don’t like when people squeeze my red nose.  Other than that, it’s a blast.  Signed Pancho the Donkey Clown

Dear Pancho the Donkey Clown – That’s *all* you worry about?  People squeezing your red nose?  Not your clothes, the hat or the make-up.

Just the people squeezing your nose?  Dude, go with it!  Have fun at a job you love and earn your money while you can.

Maybe one day you can move to that donkey retirement community you’ve been looking into.

20130220-081227.jpgDear Bacon – I’m a happy pooch now.  I had some problems with my teeth and my master took me to the dentist.

I am so happy with the results!  AND he put in a little bling for me.  What do you think?  Signed Smiling Pooch

Dear Smiling Pooch – Well, your smile brought a smile to my face – it must be working.  You do look really happy in that picture.

And, I kind of like the bling.  Your master must really love you my friend!

20130220-081232.jpg

Dear Bacon – Sometimes in life, we just have to stop and smell the roses.  You know, take each day one day at a time and focus in on the moment.  I’m a lot more relaxed these days doing that.  Signed Goat of Leisure.

Dear Goat of Leisure – Yes my friend.  You do look really relaxed in that floatie.  I think I may have to take some time today to enjoy the moment.  Thanks for sharing your deep thoughts.

20130220-081245.jpgDear Bacon – We have a game in the house where us purr things get into the boxes that are attached by the string.  The string is attached to the barky thing that pulls us around the house.  It’s really kind of fun.

Maybe you can use this traveling method for your purr things?  Signed Sliding Kitties

Dear Sliding Kitties – Yes I think that would be perfect for the purr things here.  *I* can get in a box and *they* can pull me around the house.

Perhaps they can bow down to me as well – snort.  It does look like a fun way to travel through the house!

20130220-081254.jpgDear Bacon – It’s cold outside in this weather.  Betsy and I have been knitting and this is what we came up with.  It’s quite the hit on the farm.  It did take us a while to knit it though – it’s hard knitting with your beaks.  What do you think?  Signed Two Cold Chicks

Dear Two Cold Chicks – That is very creative.  I’m kind of digging it.  Do you think you ladies can create something for me?  I would cherish it and wear it forever!

Journal to Healthier Living – Week 9

Welcome my friends.  I’m tweaking my weekly journey with my healthier living.  It’s a step in the right direction for sure.  I hope you come along for the ride.  Instead of day-to-day comments, I’m going to post something from my personal journal to share.  Hope you enjoy.  Remember all of us go down this path and we are all in it together ❤

Week of 03/04-03/10/2018 – Week 9

“Dear Journal – Stress should be one of those dirty words that we don’t mention.  Stress is ugly and mean.  Stress is butting into my life lately.  The I can’t sleep, I’m running 90 miles per minute in every direction and feel the world is catching up with me kind of stress.  I need to take six classes for work for updating my accounting skills.  Something added in to a 24 hour day that now needs 36 hours just to get everything done.  As of today, five classes down – one more to fit in this week.  The month is getting away from me as well.  I just rolled February at work and now we are halfway through March and I haven’t started March.  I need two of me I think for work.  Mom is going to the pulmonary specialist today to see how bad her COPD is… shaking my head.  Just add to the stress – parents need to live forever.  I’m not ready for anything of that nature.  Enough of my downs – let’s talk ups.  I have maintained my surgery weight – that’s awesome and a positive note.  I am trying to walk when I can in between flare-ups.  Flare-ups is also another bad word but right now I’ve got them beat.  I’m staying on top of them.  And I’m eating better.  Hey – the good with the bad huh?”

This week walked:  6.48

TOTAL 2018 Miles:  75.14

TOTAL 2017 Miles:  541.06

small goals turn into big accomplishments ❤

Look my friends – one day last week I used the air fryer to make boneless buffalo chicken nuggets.  They came out amazing!  The hub unit could not get enough of them.  They were seasoned and breaded just right.  See how crispy they look.  And trust me, they tasted just as crispy – had the perfect crunch.  I didn’t take a picture of them but I also fixed tater tots.  They probably could have went a few minutes more but they were awesome!!

Happy Birthday Bacon!

Hey Bacon’s friends.  This is Bacon’s mom and dad here.  We are hi-jacking the little guy’s blog this afternoon for an important announcement.  Today is also our pig-son’s birthday.  Our baby Bacon turns the big 6 today!  Can you believe he was born on our anniversary?  Just one more little sign that his adoption was meant to be with us.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BACON!

Bacon has brought so much joy here at the Hotel Thompson.  When I tell you there is *never* a dull moment, that is certainly the truth.  Bacon is like the little child we never had.  He’s very smart – as you all know from him writing his blog here – cough cough.  It doesn’t matter what kind of day you’ve had, how much stress you encounter in the world – he is always here waiting for you with a snort and oink.  I’m not sure what me or Jim would do without Bacon and our other ‘children’: Houdini, Hemi and Mouse Girl in our lives. They bless us beyond our imagination.

So today, we raise our glass with you our friends to send out a huge HAPPY BIRTHDAY to the best pig-son we could ever have.  And here’s to years and years of more happiness and adventures!  Help us out our friends in wishing Bacon the best of all birthdays!

Bacon – may all your dreams come true.  May you have more delights today than ever before.  We love you our boy!

And thanks to my bro across the pond – Phenny – for these awesome presents.  That card was almost as big as me!  I loved it.  Thanks bro ❤

Bacon’s Show and Tell

This month, we are focusing on gifts.  Since Christmas was just last month, let’s focus on that one thing that you received that was absolutely wonderful.  Maybe it wasn’t from Christmas – perhaps it was on your birthday last year.  What is it – why can’t you live without it?

Okay this month it’s easy.  What’s the ONE gift that mom can’t live without?  Of course, it would have to be her Apple i-Watch that her sister gave her.  It does everything.  It’s like an extension of her cell phone that she wears on her wrist.  It’s a watch.  It’s a phone.  It’s a trainer.  It’s a therapist with her breathing and stress levels.  It keeps up with her steps/her miles.  It challenges her to be more.  It does everything!  So yes, that would be the one gift that mom can’t live without.  Much, MUCH thank you to her sister – Tina!
