Journal to Healthier Living – Week 19

Welcome my friends.  I’m tweaking my weekly journey with my healthier living.  It’s a step in the right direction for sure.  I hope you come along for the ride.  Instead of day-to-day comments, I’m going to post something from my personal journal to share.  Hope you enjoy.  Remember all of us go down this path and we are all in it together ❤

Week of 05/13-05/19/2018 – Week 19

“Dear Journal – I think one of the biggest things about losing weight/eating healthier is getting your mindset in the right direction.  If your mind is not there, it’s not going to happen regardless of how many times you attempt.  Another for me is setting goals.  If I have the mindset and a mini goal to get to, it’s a done thing.  It’s the way I’m made just like others I’m sure.  In saying that, I’m re-adjusting my life, getting things in line and hitting my plan effective June 1.  Why am I putting it off until June 1?  Why not start today?  Well, we have vacation plans this week/next.  I’m going to enjoy myself and then hit it hard with monthly goals.  That is the plan.  So my walking pace will be back in June – come hell or high water.”

Week of 05/06-05/12/2018 – Week 18

“Dear Journal – Life is better with a plan.  I think I finally found a plan that I can work with and do every day.  I’m a planner like that.  So what is the plan you ask?  I’m glad you asked Journal.  So for part of my lunch during the week, I’m doing 15 minutes of light stretches/yoga.  This has been giving me a solid rock during the week.  I don’t feel as pressured or stressed when I get home.  Another 15 minutes I do a solid walk.  And then I’m watching what I’m eating.  And the big one – no soda’s.  I did it once for almost six months.  I can do this again – no soda’s.  And more water… water is your friend.  Be one with your friend.”

Journal to Healthier Living – Week 8

Welcome my friends.  I’m tweaking my weekly journey with my healthier living.  It’s a step in the right direction for sure.  I hope you come along for the ride.  Instead of day-to-day comments, I’m going to post something from my personal journal to share.  Hope you enjoy.  Remember all of us go down this path and we are all in it together ❤

Week of 02/25-03/03/2018 – Week 8

Dear Journal – We’ve had stumbling blocks lately.  I admit that I got a little frustrated… okay maybe a lot frustrated.  Before my surgery, I was in a great mind spot in working out and exercising.  Being down for three months without being able to do much, I lost my mojo.  Then work has been so loving in sharing multiple colds/viruses the past month.  I get over one thing and then BOOM I get the next cold.  My immune system is so challenged that someone with a cold can just look at me with a stink eye and I get sick. It sucks but the challenge is real.  So Monday, I start again for the gazillionth time.  It’s not how many times you start… it’s that one time that you finish.  So back to baby steps and one day and one meal at a time”

Week of 02/18-02/24/2018 – Week 7

“Dear Journal – It seems like food choices are beginning to become easier in decision making.  That’s a great and awesome thing.  If you would have told me this time last year I would be choosing water over a soda, I would have laughed at you.  I was so addicted to fully leaded soda!  It’s such a relief to break myself of that addiction.  I don’t have to worry about diet soda… I would much rather drink water anytime.  And I think water is so much better for my skin as well.  This was definitely a good week of eating.  I need to pick up the exercise a bit more.  I’ve been doing a combination of walking and exercise.  There are seven exercises that I’m trying to incorporate into my routine everyday.  It’s working for me and that is what matters.  I think I’m going to rope the hub unit in doing those seven exercises with me every evening.  It may make things go faster and it would certainly help to boost both of us for sure.”

Journal of Healthier Living – Weeks 3 and 4

Welcome my friends.  I’m tweaking my weekly journey with my healthier living.  It’s a step in the right direction for sure.  I hope you come along for the ride.  Instead of day-to-day comments, I’m going to post something from my personal journal to share.  Hope you enjoy.  Remember all of us go down this path and we are all in it together ❤

Week of 01/21-01/27/2018 – Week 3 (MILES MOVED: 5.96)

“Dear Journal – Slow and easy wins the race.  Recuperation from my surgery is going well; however, my rheumatoid arthritis is deciding to flare up.  I went back on a different RA medicine.  It so hates me and is not agreeing with my body.  I will give it another week to settle.  If it doesn’t, then we will go to plan B… whatever that might be.  I want to get back into my exercising.  It’s true what they say.  Trying to get back into a plan is the hardest thing in the world.  I was really burning some miles and then I had to stop because of surgery.  It’s hard finding my way back.  But I will!  I am determined if not anything else.  At least my food choices have been on key – that’s definitely a plus.  Wouldn’t it be great if we could all eat anything we wanted with no consequences?  I’m not as young as I was once – LOL.”

Week of 01/28-02/03/2018 – Week 4 (MILES MOVED: 5.62)

“Dear Journal – This week started slow.  I had some type of virus going around the office.  I’m so thankful that we share everything – not!  I was home Monday/Tuesday which also led me to the point of coming off of my RA medicine.  It so was not agreeing with my body.  I’ve been speaking with my doctor back/forth about it and we both decided to stop it.  For the past three months, I worked on a pain management plan.  I think I’m going to stay on that for a while.  I need my body to catch up and even out.  It’s been hard these past three months going through so many physical changes.  I’m happy with the surgery.  I just need things to chill out now with everything else.  Can you believe it’s been almost three months since surgery?  Sometimes it just seems like yesterday.  I so should have done this years ago!  I feel like a new person in that aspect.”

Oh and by the way, I bought an air fryer for the house.  I’m going to be using it in the future and hopefully sharing with you some awesome recipes.  Do you have one?  If so, share some recipes.  An air fryer circulates heat  at a high speed around the items that you are cooking.  This produces a crispy top layer to what you are cooking.  It doesn’t use oil like you would if you fried foods.  And being in the south, we know our fried foods.  Using an air fryer will hopefully help our waistlines in cooking healthier and eating more at home.  I will keep you updated on what foods we cook.

These two weeks walked: 11.58

Together we can do this!

Sunday, January 14, 2017 –  Today is meant for rest and that is exactly what we did today.  Layed around watching football games and resting.  Miles Moved: 0.28

Monday, January 15, 2018 –  I was off today for the holiday from work.  Cleaned up some dresser drawers today and have a couple of bags for donations.  I think I’ll be having a lot of cleaning out in the next couple of months of old clothes that just don’t fit anymore.  I’m not sure at this point if it’s a good thing or a bad thing – LOL.  Miles Moved: 0.25

Tuesday, January 16, 2018 –  Back to work and actually got a good little walk in today.  It felt good to move a bit more.  Miles Moved: 1.15

Wednesday, January 17, 2018 –  Today was snow day.  Can you believe snow in the south?  It happens every once in a blue moon.  I’m trying to find my way back to walking.  It’s hard.  My doctor has put me on a new med for my Rheumatoid Arthritis.  Let’s just say it’s kicking my butt right now.  But I’m letting my system adjust to it.  Miles Moved: 0.25

Thursday, January 18, 2018 – Split between headache and nauseousness.  Which is worse?  I’m not sure but I’m determined to get through this!  Miles Moved: 0.83

Friday, January 19, 2018 –  I’m determined to start walking more next week.  This medicine is just going to have to catch up to me then.  Miles Moved: 1.09

Saturday, January 20, 2018 –  Errands on top of errands.  I think I need a keeper for sure these days.  Highlight of my day – talking to Phenny’s parents across the pond.  What an awesome way to start the day!  Thanks Katty and Mark! ❤  Miles Moved: 0.50

Thoughts for the week:   Life is life.  There is no race.  I’m taking one day at a time with everything.  My body will adjust and things will fall into place.  I’m sure of it.  Thanks my friends for supporting me along “our” adventures together ❤

Journey with Friends – Week 02

Welcome my friends to our weekly issue of Journey with Friends.  This is a time that we come together for support, for encouragement, for fellowship – all with one single goal in mind – to live better.  Welcome to our journey to share our goals and our accomplishments and our disappointments and frustrations.

Together we can do this!

Sunday, January 7, 2017 (Day 5) –  There really needs to be a way that your Apple i-Watch tracks when you do housework.  We ended up doing three loads of laundry, folding, making the beds, cleaning the house, etc.  But does any of this track?  No really.  So Apple i-Watch if you listening, work on it.  LOL  Miles Moved:  1.10

Monday, January 8, 2018 (Day 6) –  This weeks goal – finish closing out 2017 at work.  I’ve got to get this finished and done.  After that, I will feel less stress… not no stress but less stress – LOL.  So today might just be a lot of paperwork at the desk.  Miles Moved: 0.80

Tuesday, January 9, 2018 (Day 7) –  Next goal this week – send out certain packages – looks innocent.  I’m so sorry my friends.  I am *SO* behind.  Packages are now mailed out.  More stress gone – LOL Miles Moved: 1.05

Wednesday, January 10, 2018 (Day 8) –  Close to being done with 2017.  Shaking my head.  There are so many numbers to configure.  Someone kill me now – LOL.  I’m determined though.  This year end will be done this week! Miles Moved: 0.93

Thursday, January 11, 2018 (Day 9) –  YAY!  Goal completed.  Goodbye 2017 and hello 2018.  Finally eleven days into 2018 and I can now start thinking about 2018.  Too funny!  So glad that it’s finished now.   Miles Moved: 1.26

Friday, January 12, 2018 (Day 10) – Must open up 2018 and start January statistics.  Notice how when you do the same thing every month that your months just run together and you have no sense of time?  That’s me these days for sure.  This year though, I’m going to try to be on top of these things.  Honest – quit laughing at me – LOL  Miles Moved: 0.83

Saturday, January 13, 2018 (Day 11) –  Football, anipal store run and chili is what today brings.  I’m planning on sleep and relaxation this weekend.  I think I need it after this week – LOL.  Miles Moved: 0.92

Thoughts for the week:   You must repeat after me.  This is not a fast fix.  This is a LIFETIME change.  Baby steps my friends – baby steps

Journey with Friends – Week 01

Welcome my friends to our weekly issue of Journey with Friends.  This is a time that we come together for support, for encouragement, for fellowship – all with one single goal in mind – to live better.  Welcome to our journey to share our goals and our accomplishments and our disappointments and frustrations.

Together we can do this!

Sunday, December 31, 2017 –  The last day of the month.  Goodbye 2017 and hello 2018!  Lots of rest today, laying around and watching football.  Miles Moved: 0.15

Monday, January 1, 2018 – Did you see any football games?  WOW – what a day to watch the Georgia game.  Awesome game too – lots of back and forth with the scores. Resting today as well.  My 100 days starts tomorrow – Joybells 🙂  Jim wanted to compromise and delay the start by one day to have today for football.  Life is all about compromises.  Miles Moved: 0.11

Tuesday, January 2, 2018 (Day 1) –  I have a lot of energy today for some reason.  Pent up time from not being able to exercise these past couple of months?  Don’t worry.  I’m taking it slow this week.  My goal is to do 30 minutes of non-stop exercise a day.  This week, I’m breaking it up into two installment of two 15 minute exercises.  Gotta build up my duration again. Miles Moved: 1.98

Wednesday, January 3, 2018 (Day 2) –  Its funny sometimes how one pain can outweigh another pain.  I’ve been in so much pain from breast recovery that my arthritis doesn’t touch it. Now that I’m feeling better and I start exercising, what happens.  Rheumatoid wants to flare it’s ugly head.  I kept going today but I know I will pay for it dearly tonight.  Miles Moved: 1.95

Thursday, January 4, 2018 (Day 3) – And I was right.  Hello flare. I really don’t have time for you right now.  I need you to go away. Please and thank you.  Miles Moved: 0.99

Friday, January 5, 2018 (Day 4) –   I have a lot going on at work with end of the year but I’m still getting my walk on. At work, I was walking outside around our buildings. I don’t have to do that anymore. We have now a full gym at work equipped with a treadmill. Can you say thank you sweet Jesus. No more freezing my butt off outside!  Miles Moved: 1.26

Saturday, January 6, 2018 – I admit it. Today was a scheduled cheat day. LOL. So soon huh?  Well today is my hubs birthday so we have to celebrate that, right?   But look I did get some walking in today. That’s a plus. Miles Moved: 1.25

Thoughts for the week:   Here we go with a new year and a new day.  Starting January 2, 2018 – I will start a 100 day challenge to eating clean and daily exercising.  The challenge will end on my 100th day – April 12, 2018.  I’ll take a week off and then do it again for another 100 days.  Little challenges inspire me and give me a goal to work towards.  I’m hoping this gets me back into my routine.  100 days of consistency will also – hopefully – make a habit and break some habits I’ve picked up in the past couple of months during recovery.  Which brings me to my surgery.  I’m still recovering from it.  The doctors says it takes between six months to a year for a full recovery.  In some ways, I feel totally whole.  In other ways, I know I’m not anywhere near it.  I take things day to day.

This week walked: 7.69

Together we can do this!

Sunday, December 24, 2017 – Last minute shopping anyone?  We are taking the next couple of days and doing absolutely nothing but laying around.  Must get rest – 2018 will be here before we know it.  We went out today with mom.  Weird thing happened.  The Jeep stopped running right in the middle of traffic – totally conked out.  What a scary situation.  It did crank right back up though.  Weird?   Miles Moved: 0.10

Monday, December 25, 2017 –  Merry Christmas my friends!  We hope that everyone had such a wonderful holiday.  We enjoyed it with family and friends.  Did some errands throughout the day. The Jeep was fine but the check engine light came on.  Miles Moved: 0.10

Tuesday, December 26, 2017 – Took the Jeep to get an oil change/air filter and cabin filter.  Thought maybe it needed some TLC.  Poor baby.  Afterwards the check engine light was off.  YAY… right?  Nope.  Got on the expressway where the Jeep conked out on me again in the middle of traffic!  Thankfully I was in the right lane and eventually I was able to get to the side.  I’ve never been more scared in my entire life!  Jim was with me and I was literally shaking.  I was less than five minutes away from the dealership at the next ramp.  By sitting for a few minutes and then cranking the Jeep, I was able to inch by inch get to the exit with my emergency lights blinking.  It took us over ONE hour to get less than what five minutes away from the dealership.  I could see the dealership from where we were on the expressway!  Got to the dealership and they go by appointments only.  What?!  I need to be a psychic now to know when my car is going to break down?  I think they felt sorry for me.  They told me to leave it and they would fit it in – okay.  What else could I do, right?  I had my neighbor come pick us up.  What a nice guy he is!  It’s so bad how we get used to these items like having a car at your fingertips.  We didn’t have a car tonight and it was somewhat scary.   Miles Moved: 0.48

Wednesday, December 27, 2017 –  Let me tell you a story about my childhood.  We didn’t have a lot of money, there were seven of us kids and our car was *always* breaking down.  Everywhere!  I don’t care if it was to the store, to school or even on vacation.  ALWAYS breaking down.  Now back in the day, the cars didn’t have all of these electronics and computers like they do today.  My dad taught me early on how to tinkle with a car and change it’s oil – even to change my tires and give my own alignment.  That’s why today I have to have a new car that RUNS.  Yesterday totally brought back all of these old feelings. I was totally in the dumps of what to do/not to do.  Here I am recovering from surgery still and I was in a predicament I couldn’t control.  I don’t like that.  The dealership called and told me that it was a crankshaft sensor that needed to be replaced AND that there was a recall on my Jeep with the airbags.  Lovely.  I told them to fix it all, make sure that baby runs.  I think they felt sorry for me.  I had the sweetest person working with me at the dealership.  They had everything fixed in a couple of hours.  Yeah, it cost me.  It wasn’t earth shattering and if it makes the Jeep WORK and run another couple of years, I’m good with that. And the Jeep was cleaned.  Did I say that?  When I picked it up, they had detailed it spotlessly. ❤ What awesome people they were. And yes I thought about getting rid of it but…I kept going back to no not yet.  But I did change it’s name… doesn’t everyone name their cars?  The Jeeps name is now Diablo – LOL Miles Moved: 1.43

Thursday, December 28, 2017 –  The Jeep is running beautifully – YAY!  Like a brand new car.  I had a long talk with it this morning.  If it behaves and takes care of me, I’ll take care of it.  Miles Moved: 1.72

Friday, December 29, 2017 –  Another long weekend.  Good.  I have some last minute shopping and mailing out to do.  Always late to the game I am.  Miles Moved: 0.63

Saturday, December 30, 2017 –   Last weekend of the year.  Today calls for watching television and boxing things up to be mailed.  My last weekend of rest.  January 2 starts the new me in 2018!  We got this my friends!  Miles Moved: 1.47

This week walked: 5.93

Sunday, December 17, 2017 –   Day of rest.  What a great trip to Chicago we had.  So much fun hanging out with my sister and just chilling, doing absolutely nothing.  And all of that wonderful food – Oh my goodness!  Yep, like the majority of people in the world come January – it’s back on the healthy lifestyle and walking!  Miles Moved: -0-

Monday, December 18, 2017 –  Trying to get caught up at work from being off last week.  WOW – I love to take time off but it sure is a windstorm to come back too.  Who would have thought that many papers could land on someone’s desk – LOL.   Miles Moved: 1.11

Tuesday, December 19, 2017 –  When did Christmas get here?? Shaking my head.  It’s so crazy here.  Recovery from the surgery, surprising Jim and taking care of my mom during her illness all caught up with me and slapped me in the butt.  Thank you to everyone that has sent us Christmas cards here at the Hotel Thompson.  We *really* appreciate that.  Unfortunately we did not send out any this year – the first time in YEARS.  Don’t give up on us.  We will be more on que next year.  And our packages are going out late this year.  Who would have thought that huh?  Bare with us sweet friends. ❤  Miles Moved: 0.94

Wednesday, December 20, 2017 –  Rush to get home tonight to get presents wrapped and ready for my work peeps tomorrow.  Someone please hit the pause button for me.  I’m so not ready for Christmas!   Miles Moved: 1.10

Thursday, December 21, 2017 –   Work presents delivered.  It looks like they were a success and everyone enjoyed what they got.  Now this weekend to box up presents we have to send out.  We so apologize for the late delivery.  Please forgive us our friends.  Miles Moved: 0.97

Friday, December 22, 2017 –  Last work day before the holiday.  Lowers head in shame.  I hate trying to play catch up.  Save me Calgon.  Miles Moved: 1.94

Saturday, December 23, 2017 –  Little steps is all I can say.  Sigh.  I feel bloated and fat today for some reason.  Weird.  I’m so ready for January and getting back on plan!  Miles Moved: 0.50

Thoughts for the week:  Who is with me come January and getting back on plan?  It’s going down next year.  Who is all going to be with me?
