Journey with Friends

14 Dec

Oh my friends – the overwhelming support that you have all shown me this past week has been so totally awesome!  I have been blown away by the suggestions, the wonderful comments and the encouragement.  I just know I can do this now.  And did you notice my blog heading, Journey with Friends?  It has been suggested that not only can this be a place for “ME”, it can be a place for others as well that are going down this path of better health.  Some place where we can all meet up once a week for encouragement and strength.  Please feel free to share any of your wisdom – great recipes, motto’s, encouragement, ideas, suggestions and/or your weight loss stories and goals.  Together we can do this!

Well my friends, it wasn’t a good week.  At weigh In on Saturday, I was up 3 pounds. This was something I kind of thought might happen this week. And I’m okay with it. I know exactly what was  my downfall.  Butterscotch drops.  Sigh. You see these are little candies that my mom makes special for me every year at Christmas. They kind of start Christmas for me. They are yummy and crispy. They are delicious. They are addictive as we can see from a 3 pound weight gain.

But it we are living right?  Day by day we go down this path and it’s not a race, right?  I hope you did much better than me. Hugs.

Oh I’m still having problems with my pulse.  I barely squeezed by this past Saturday at 99 bpm (has to be 100 or less). I have no problems with Thursday nights. There is no line then.  But Saturday’s are horrid. I stood in line for over 2 hours before getting my vitals.

Soon the holidays will be behind us, then we can get down to business. In the meantime, if we can at least maintain so there’s not even more to get rid of, we’ll be doing well.

Granny says you don’t have to be so hard on yourself…at least not during the holidays 😉 When you can let go the thinking, your weight goes down too. Granny experienced it after 20 years of eating disorder. She healed when she let go of the scales and the thinking. It was just something that came up, when we read your post. Pawkisses for Good Health to you all 🙂 ❤

Christmas will be hard. Watching what I eat now, but I love to bake, bread, cookies and candy. I know I’ll not make a goal, but starting the week after New Year’s Day, I’ll get better. I’ve denied myself several Christmas’s. I want to entertain this year! I’m a bad influence today. WY winter!

Good for you!! I don’t blame you at all my friend. Christmas is meant for celebrating, having fun and being surrounded by family and friends. I won’t let this little bump hinder me. And like you said, New Years Day – watch out for all of us! ❤ June

We’ll be an Army of Strong People, Energized from our Merry Christmas or Happy Holidays. The Bright, Shiny New Year will be filled with Great Opportunities. Going with a new signature, like it?

You really deserve a bit of a reprieve from the regimen for the holidays – none of us can resist homemade goodies or all the delicious food that is a part of celebrating this time of year. After the holidays are gone, you’ll get back to being able to resist temptations (!) and move ONWARD! No doubt in my mind because you already know you CAN do this.

    Hugs, Pam

Amen to that my friend! And you are right. Right now with the holidays, we shall have fun – not too much fun grant you – but after the holidays at the new year – watch out. We are ALL going to kick some butt. ❤ June

Bacon, you keep thinking it will be hard, but it’s really easy. You just savor the good stuff more, like fruit! That becomes candy. The more junk you avoid, you love yourself a little more. The more you love yourself, the less you need to love the junk.

That’s perfect my friend! I love that. I think I’m going to print this comment for my fridge. It says it all. I just need to learn to flex in the right directions. Thank you – hugs. ❤ June

Sounds perfectly normal. You had several great weeks, then a very slight setback but you’ll be back on track. As you lose more weight you will often plateau which can be very disheartening. Don’t worry, we’re here to cheer you on!

Keep up the good work and just try to walk a little more during the howlidays-it makes all the difference in the world. 🙂

Any of the holiday are hard – I think it is okay to give yourself permission to indulge just a little over this time so long as you can in mind to get back on the plan after the event

This is so very true my friend. That is the plan. I’m not being hard on myself from this gain. It took a lifetime to get the weight *on*. It’s not going away overnight although I wish it could 🙂 ❤ June

Knowing the source of the gain is a big step. I like your idea of having one treat day a week, so maybe save the butterscotch drops for that day. Holidays are tough. I just finished making a batch of fudge. ‘Nuff said.

Licking my lips – fudge! I have an awesome recipe with fudge in cupcakes – oh my I said Cupcake – LOL. And you are right. I’m not whipping myself today but I will be more careful – thanks my friend. ❤ June

This time of year is nuts. Not even ordinary nuts but choc covered ones. There are sugary treats waiting to jump on us before we even leave the house. Personally I have had an “episode” that involved much more than my fair share of “stollen!” Enough said. Sorry you have to wait so long to give something so valuable. I hope they have chairs. ❤ ❤ ❤

Thanks my sweet friend ((HUGS)). I’m hanging in there and kind of ‘going with the flow’ this week and next. Now after the holidays, I will definitely throw caution to the wind and settle in for a good fight.
At the clinic, they have chairs in the waiting room and at the vital check point. Other than that, you are standing until your reach your destination. I’m still waiting for my VIP card that I earned. It will allow me to go to the front of all three lines without waiting. Hopefully with that, my pulse will be down on Saturdays. Thursday nights there are no waits and I have no problems – I cut it close by I make it 🙂 ❤ June
