Bacon’s Show and Tell

Welcome my Friends to August – Bacon’s Show and Tell

This month we are talking about that ONE thing that you had growing up that impressed your life all of these years that you still think about it?  Something that maybe perhaps you still have somewhere put away in your home?  Something that when you look back at and think of the times you had with this ONE thing that it makes you smile so wide and your heart just glows?

Today I want to talk about one of mom’s things that has touched her all of her life.  Something that she has kept  and would never do without.  See this little dresser – three deep drawers with foxes/bears on the front.  This little dresser has been in mom’s life close to 46 years.  You see, shortly after mom was born her daddy built this little dresser for her.  And mom has kept it all these years.

It has lots of dings and scratches and some of the stickers on the front are even starting to come off.  But still mom has it and wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world.  It sits in my and Houdini’s room and we treasure it too.

In fact, currently it is being used to store all of Houdini’s clothes.  So you can kind of say that it’s second generation now doing it’s thing. ❤

Mom Has Lost It… You Think?

Mom is well mom – you know mother material.  She *had* blonde hair, wore lipstick and glasses and was one of those moms that had everything together – carpooling, grocery shopping, lists of everything and a firm hand.

But a couple of weeks ago, something happened out of the blue. Mom and dad got up to go get their haircuts and what came home wasn’t mom anymore.  I mean she was mom – still has my mom qualities, still does the carpooling, still does the shopping, etc.  But oh.my.piggy.heavens. mom was different.  She told us that she had been a blonde/brown for over 20 years and she was tired of it.  You know this can’t end well, right my friends?

Well my friends, let me introduce you to mom two point hello hubba hubba.  Snorts with piggy laughter.

Gone are the glasses.  Gone is the blonde/brown hair.  Hello contacts and what is that – purple hair?  Some peeps recognize the purple right off while others look at it without light on it and says it’s more auburn.  Me, Houdini, Hemi and Daddy say get back and HELLO MOM.

Maybe she doesn’t look like the ‘typical’ mom anymore but who is to say what the ‘typical’ mom looks like these days?  In this time and day, the June Cleavers and Carol Brady’s of the world is something in the past.

So what do you think my friends?

Bacon’s Show and Tell

Welcome my friends to Bacon’s Show and Tell for January.  This month we are talking about something embarrassing that has happened in our life.  It could be something from child hood, adult hood – last week for that matter.

My mom/dad are known for their troublesome ways.  In fact, I do believe that trouble finds them each and every time they leave the Hotel Thompson.  It’s just going to happen.  I’ve accepted that in my piggy life.  So today, I want to share two stories with you on my parents on something embarrassing.

First up – Dad

Now if you have been reading my blog for any length of time you know that dad is a character.  One night dad and mom decided to go out to dinner down the street at a local cafe.  Dad put on some sweats and an old t-shirt, nothing elaborate.  They drove down to the dinner, got out and started to walk to the front door.  The restaurant had windows all along the front of it and you could see inside as well as the people see outside.  Dad went to step up on the walkway and right about that time his pants got tired and fell down to his ankles.  Nothing like dinner and a show huh?  Snorts with piggy laughter.

Second up – Mom

Sweet mom.  Dad’s always picking on her and getting away with it in public places.  You know for two old people, they can be cute this way.  Dad will sometimes sneak a kiss or pat mom on the butt and nobody ever catches him doing it.  One time, mom/dad were at the mall at a store named Macy’s.  They were walking around and mom thought she was going to pat dad on the butt like he does her.  She went and did it.  Well about that time, this elderly lady turns the corner and catches mom right in the action.  Oh dear piggy heavens.  You would have thought with the way the elderly lady acted that she had caught mom grabbing dad’s front side and not his back side.  It was priceless.  Of course, dad walked off leaving mom standing there all embarrassed while said lady gave mom a tongue lashing like you wouldn’t believe.  When mom tried to walk away, the elderly lady followed her telling her that her actions were unladylike and very unbecoming a southern lady.

Bacon’s Show and Tell

This month we are sharing something that was hilarious that you got as a gift whether it was a present, a card or a note and what made it funny.

Well my friends – you know my humans – snorts – enough said huh?  I asked mom about this and she thought for a few minutes and then started laughing.  That’s a good sign, right?  Now she had a lot to work with being with daddy for almost 27 years now.  I asked her to tell me about what was so funny.  This is what she says:

“Years ago… I mean years ago… your father got me a Valentine’s Day card.  It was so sweet with a box of candy and flowers.  All of that was perfect and made me oohh and aaww.  But what was written “IN” the card by your daddy is what was the best and made me realize how much he loved me.  He wrote in the card:  You look as good to me as a bare ankle to a rattlesnake.  Now if that doesn’t scream love, what does?”
