Boo! Dismemberment

Oh my friends – didn’t you get a chill just reading that title – dismemberment?  It does bring me shutters thinking about it.  You see this is a story that read about and heard on television.  I couldn’t believe my piggy eyes and ears!  I was shocked and ran to tell mom/dad.  They were in awe as well.

There was a man that lived in Tennessee.  Back in November of last year, he and his wife had a huge fight.  Things didn’t end well.  The fight escalated and the guy ended up killing his wife, dismembering her and putting her in their freezer in the garage of their house.  There she was for two days.

During those two days, the man kept thinking his wife was coming to him in his dreams about what happened.  He finally went and checked the freezer and she was alive!  They had a long conversation and she was telling him how much she loved him.  He was crying when he called 911 to come out and help her.

The police arrived to the house.  When they went into the garage, there was no way the woman could have been talking to the guy – she was dead and had been for several days.  Did she come back to seek her revenge?

Bacon’s Tales of Terror

Oh friends – welcome back to my Bacon’s Tales of Terrors for this month.  This month I’m taking another true story one that you might have heard out of the headlines.  We here at the Hotel Thompson were in awe hearing and seeing it on the news last month and then we found out more information that was just simply astonishing.  So, are you ready for it my friends?

.

During the mid-part of March last month, Lynn Groesbeck was traveling in her vehicle with her 18 month old baby, Lily.  For some reason, the car went off the road into the freezing river in Spanish Fork, Utah.  The two were trapped in the car for over 14 hours.

A fisherman happen to see the vehicle and called authorities.  When four rescue workers came to the car, they all said they heard a woman yelling for help – a mature older voice.  This voice was so pleading that the workers got into the frigid waters and were able to work harder and flip the car over.  The vehicle had been partially submerged in the freezing water and workers were shocked to see the mother had passed away and had been deceased for hours but the baby was still alive and in her car seat.

Was it adrenaline that helped the workers push the vehicle over?  Was it the pleading voice of Help that gave the four workers the adrenaline they needed to get the car upright? Was it the deceased mother that was still looking over her precious baby?  Where did the voice come from that all four heard?  And let me add that the water was so cold that some of the workers had to be treated for hypothermia.  How did the baby survive the cold for 14 hours?

Baby Lily is recovering in the hospital and family say that she is going to be just fine.  What do you think of this true story?  Did it give you goosebumps like it did us here at the Hotel Thompson?

31 Days of Spook – Story Submission

Hello my spooky friends.  Thank you so very much for staying with me during my 31 Days of Spook. Have you been enjoying the stories, the thrills, the things that go bump in the night?   Today, we have another guest story submission.  This one is from my friend Bree.  Do you know her?  She’s Reilly and Denny’s mom.  If you don’t know them, you have so got to visit their blog.  They are great.  And personally, I don’t think those pooches take a bad picture – I’m just saying.  Please make it a point to visit my friend Bree – tell her that Bacon sent you.  This is her tale – enjoy my friends!

“When I was very little – only 4 years, we lived in London in a very old house. One morning I woke up and was very sick and feeling very scared but then this little old lady came into room and sat on the bed talking to me. She told me some wonderful stories in her soft Scottish accent and she would sing to me too – and lull me to sleep. Every morning she would come and visit. She was very small only about 4′ 5”, had grey/white hair pulled back tightly and wore a little cap like the the one Andy Capp wears. She also had a little white pipe – like the one Popeye had. She wore a long black skirt with big pockets on the front of it, big brown lace up boots and had layers of sweaters on. She smelled of lavender and even to this day I still think of her when I smell it.

My Mom came in one morning and asked me who I was talking too. I didn’t know her name so I pointed to her and said, “Grandah”. Mom looked around and couldn’t see anyone and yet there she was sitting on the end on the bed.  Whenever any of my brothers or sister was sick she would appear and we always knew she was about the house because we suddenly would smell the lavender. Our Mom too smelled the lavender but never saw or knew who Grandah was until one day she showed us a very old photo of our great grandma and it was her!  She had been dead for over thirty years and yet there she would come visit us when ever we were sick and we knew she would make us feel better.”

Bacon’s Tales of Terror

Oh my friends – we have an excellent Tale of Terror today on this 13th. It’s so scary, that I scared myself while typing it out for you to read. Are you ready? Do you think you can handle this today? It’s definitely a nail biter. You might want to turn on the lights. Don’t say I didn’t warn you my friends – enjoy.

Becky finally met her one and only – the man of her dreams. Not only was he good on the eyes but he was charming, had a great job and a great home. His house, that he referred to as his ‘bachelor pad’, was just a miniature mansion that had been in the family for years. They had only been dating for nine months but the day Josh proposed to Becky was one of the happiest days of her life…almost. They were in the drawing room and upon her saying yes to his question, a dove flew into the window breaking his neck. Should that have been a sign? A warning of such?

Becky moved into Josh’s home and started making it hers. Little by little, she put a feminine touch on it – adding pictures, flowers and dreaming of the day she would be married to Josh. Once she moved in though, that’s when the little things started. A slam of a door. A framed picture of her and Josh falling off the wall and across the floor shattering. Cabinet doors opening. Noises. All of this happening when she was alone. It was strange. Even one day when Josh was leaving, he had forgotten his phone. She ran out the front door to give it to him. She could have sworn she saw a woman in the back seat of his car. Was it just her imagination?

Then one night, they were in bed together and something woke her. When she opened her eyes, she could have sworn she saw a woman in a wedding dress walking out of their bedroom. She must have been dreaming… well that’s what she thought anyway.

The next day when Josh came home, he dropped his bag in the living room where she was sitting and a picture almost fell out. She reached down to pick up the picture and it was a woman. Why would her fiancee have a picture of another woman in his bag? She questioned him. That’s when he told her it was his wife. Wife?! His deceased wife. His deceased wife who fell down the stairs and broke her neck in that very house.

Of course that bit of news put a little ice on the situation. The next day after Josh went to work, a neighbor came over to talk to Becky. She told Becky that things weren’t as they appeared. The deceased wife was a good friend of hers and that was actually her house. Becky didn’t want to believe such things and asked her to leave. Upon her leaving, she gave her a cut out news article telling about the woman’s death and how the husband was actually a suspect. What?! What had she gotten herself into? He couldn’t have been. Instead of leaving, she stayed to discuss this with him. There’s always two sides to every story and she was in love with him.

When he came home, the questions began. He said it was his deceased wife’s house but he inherited it and thus it was a family home. And he was upstairs taking a shower when his wife fell down the stairs. He had nothing to do with it. Would you have believed him?

They went to bed that night and Becky couldn’t sleep. She just stared at him thinking and replaying everything in her mind about the information she had learned. Finally she got up to go downstairs to watch television to get her mind off of the situation. Upon her going down the staircase, she saw what appeared to be a woman laying at the foot of the stairs. The ghost like woman got up and floated up the stairs towards her. She was frozen in fright. The woman stopped in front of her and she could have sworn she heard, “Look in his nightstand”. Then the woman disappeared.

Now, she was not only seeing things she was hearing things? She went back into the bedroom and went to Josh’s nightstand. Taped underneath the top of the shelf of the night stand was an envelope. She quietly removed it and went downstairs to open it in the kitchen. When she did, she took off her engagement ring and left it on the kitchen counter with the paperwork. She left that night with the clothes on her back and never looked back.

What exactly was in the paperwork? It was a life insurance policy on her, Becky, for $250,000.00 – something she didn’t even know Josh had taken out on her.
