Boo! Dismemberment

Oh my friends – didn’t you get a chill just reading that title – dismemberment?  It does bring me shutters thinking about it.  You see this is a story that read about and heard on television.  I couldn’t believe my piggy eyes and ears!  I was shocked and ran to tell mom/dad.  They were in awe as well.

There was a man that lived in Tennessee.  Back in November of last year, he and his wife had a huge fight.  Things didn’t end well.  The fight escalated and the guy ended up killing his wife, dismembering her and putting her in their freezer in the garage of their house.  There she was for two days.

During those two days, the man kept thinking his wife was coming to him in his dreams about what happened.  He finally went and checked the freezer and she was alive!  They had a long conversation and she was telling him how much she loved him.  He was crying when he called 911 to come out and help her.

The police arrived to the house.  When they went into the garage, there was no way the woman could have been talking to the guy – she was dead and had been for several days.  Did she come back to seek her revenge?

Boo! Givens Castle

Today we are focusing on a spook in Chicago ion an area where my Aunt Tina lives.  Buckle in for some bumps and scares.  Enjoy – don’t be scared now – BOO!

Givens Castle / Beverly Unitarian Church

The Givens Castle was originally built in 1886 as a residence by Robert Givens. Givens was real estate developer and wanted the house to be a replica of a castle in his native Ireland.  Some say that Givens built the home for his fiancee who died before the house could be finished.  Maybe that accounts for why Givens only lived in the castle for 8 years.

Around 1894, the castle turned into the Chicago Female College. It is reputed to have had a student die in the 1930’s from flu.

During the 1960’s, the castle was turned into the Beverly Unitarian Church.  A janitor once reported that he had a conversation with a woman who disappeared from sight. Their conversation was about the house and how much it had changed over the years.  The janitor saw no footprints outside in the snow and all of the doors were locked.  Where did she go?  Was it the student that passed away from the flu?

The pastor of the church at the time was a woman who claimed she saw a pair of hands touch her husband’s waist.  Even more, the pastor thought the hands were those of a woman.  The husband never felt a thing.  During this time as well, there were reports of a candle being seen through windows when nobody was present in the building.

Unexplained noises have also been attributed to the ghost and a former pastor said that he often tried to track down the source of the noises but was never able to.

Welcome Mat?

I tried to explain to daddy that this mat would *not* get him any brownie points with mom.  Of course he doesn’t believe me.  He says I’m a pig and what do I know.  Snorts with piggy laughter.  He doesn’t have a clue does he?  What do you think?  Should I let him go ahead and buy this to teach him a lesson?

Domestic Violence – A Word from Mom

Sometimes you hear about something on the news that totally blows your mind away.  Some of you may know, we watch a lot of paranormal shows here at the Hotel Thompson.  That’s something that intrigues us.  In watching these shows, you get to know some of the people that you see.  And with social media the way it is these days, you even get to chat with these people from time to time.  You may not have met in real life but like people here on the blog or on Facebook, you become friends.

Mom spoke to one of these friends a couple of weeks ago when she posted that she and her husband were separating.  Of course, we never know the circumstances from any marriage, behind any closed door or what takes place between a couple.  You don’t throw judgement, you support the decision and try to help.

Yesterday morning, the estranged husband kidnapped his wife and held her hostage in Nevada.  There was a police stand off and SWAT was called to the scene.  The husband not only ended up killing his wife and himself, there was also a third person whose name has not been released yet.

This situation has just touched my heart so hard and I had difficulty sleeping last night from thinking about it all.  After doing some research on line, I saw that there was some difficulties in the relationship since earlier this year and one or the other was charged with domestic violence on two different situations.  It still doesn’t make sense why it needed to come to this.  What did it solve?  You have the family and the public/fans of the couple just questioning why?  It makes sense if you are having difficulty in a relationship to move on and give each other some breathing room.  Why did it have to escalate not to 1 but 3 deaths is just unimaginable.

Friends and visitors to my blog, if you are in a relationship with domestic violence, please get help.  Don’t stay.  Don’t be a statistic.  Call the National Domestic Violence Hotline.  I know that’s easier said than done.  And I know that none of us know the exact circumstances to this case and that there are always two sides to every story.  But please get and be safe.  Life is too short and precious.
