Southern Home Security System

Life can be hard – really hard.  With as much crime that is going around, I fear for mom/dad in their safety.  I’ve done a LOT of research on this and found the perfect southern home security system.  I saw an advertisement on the internet that was perfect.  And it has to work, right?  I mean everything on the internet is true – snorts.

So, friends fear no more.  This is the perfect plan that was posted.

  1. Go to Goodwill and buy a pair of size 14-16 men’s work boots.
  2. Place said pair of work boots on your front porch along with a copy of the Guns & Ammo magazine.
  3. Put four giant dog dishes next to the boots and magazine.
  4. Leave a note on your door that reads:

Bubba,

Me and Marcel, Donnie Ray and Jimmy Earl went for more ammo and beer. Be back in an hour.  Don’t mess with the pit bulls.  They got the mailman this morning and messed him up bad.  I don’t think Killer took part but it was hard to tell from all of the blood.  Anyway, I locked all four of ’em in the house.  Better wait outside.  Be right back.

Boo! Dismemberment

Oh my friends – didn’t you get a chill just reading that title – dismemberment?  It does bring me shutters thinking about it.  You see this is a story that read about and heard on television.  I couldn’t believe my piggy eyes and ears!  I was shocked and ran to tell mom/dad.  They were in awe as well.

There was a man that lived in Tennessee.  Back in November of last year, he and his wife had a huge fight.  Things didn’t end well.  The fight escalated and the guy ended up killing his wife, dismembering her and putting her in their freezer in the garage of their house.  There she was for two days.

During those two days, the man kept thinking his wife was coming to him in his dreams about what happened.  He finally went and checked the freezer and she was alive!  They had a long conversation and she was telling him how much she loved him.  He was crying when he called 911 to come out and help her.

The police arrived to the house.  When they went into the garage, there was no way the woman could have been talking to the guy – she was dead and had been for several days.  Did she come back to seek her revenge?

31 Days of Spook – H.H. Holmes

I know you are asking yourself who in the world is H.H. Holmes and why is he being featured on my 31 Days of Spook?  The name sounds so plain and innocent.  But I assure, it is not.  You see H.H. Holmes is the common name of Dr. Henry Howard Holmes (who was actually born Herman Webster Mudgett – try to figure that out huh?)  H.H. Holmes is considered America’s First Serial Killer.  Does the name sound innocent now?

Most people that want to become a doctor go into the field hoping to prevent death. H.H. Holmes went to school to become a doctor to help him out more in causing death and destruction.  Let’s start from here and let me explain to you what H.H. Holmes actually did.

It starts out in 1886 in Chicago.  H.H. Holmes built a hotel right in town near all of the fair activities.  In the time that he was building it, he often brought in different construction crews to add things and then fired that crew afterwards.  Again the next day hiring a different construction crew to work on something else at the hotel.  That way, not one construction crew or person knew of the intricacies of the hotel.  What intricacies?  Well like 100’s of windowless rooms, doorways that opened into brick walls, stairways leading to nowhere, doors that opened from the outside and don’t forget the fun rooms.  The rooms that had soundproof walls and gas lines in them to asphyxiate the guests.  Or rooms that had walls covered with iron plates and blowtorches to incinerate guests.  Or the secret hanging chamber… or the basement where he would dissect, strip the flesh off guests and then sale their bodies to medical schools.  What a host huh?

The hotel was nicknamed the Castle by the people of the area and it was three stories and a block long.  The name of the actual hotel was called the World’s Fair Hotel.  Yep, you guessed it.  The hotel was right there in the same area of the World Fair in 1893.  Just think of all of the innocent people coming to  Chicago for the World’s Fair.  They see this nice, new hotel and check in thinking they are safe… and then they are never heard from again.  Thus in the end, the hotel was then called the Murder Castle.

In the end, justice was given to H.H. Holmes.  He was eventually caught and although he claimed to have killed 27 people, it is actually thought the count could be well over 200 people!  What’s even more interesting is that H.H. Holmes is even linked to the likes of Jack the Ripper.  Some people even think that they may be one and the same.  H.H. Holmes was actually in London during the killings of Jack the Ripper.  And of course, Jack the Ripper was actually a very clean cut killer – some believe that he had a medical background.  With all of the killing that H.H. Holmes did, I would think he would fit that bill.  Do you?

Can You Believe It’s Been an Entire Year

IMG_0320.JPGOne year ago, my little brother Houdini came to live with us here at the Hotel Thompson.  At that time, he was a 12 week old Yorkshire Terrier.  Snorts – we learned real quick that Terrier really means TERROR.

In this picture, he didn’t even weigh 1 pound yet.  For the first six months that we had him, I didn’t even think he had legs because he got carried everywhere by mom or dad.  Must have been the life, huh?

And he would fall asleep everywhere and anywhere.  Mom said that because he was growing like the little weed he is.

He plays hard.  He sleeps hard.  We’ve come a long way in his first year.  Clothes, birthday parties, groomers, play dates.  And I have to admit that the little guy has grown on me.  He is no longer just 1 pound.  I’m happy to report that he goes between 5.5 to 6 pounds – depends on what he eats that day – snorts.  For a poochie, he’s not bad.  I can’t imagine life here at the Hotel Thompson without him.

Do you remember how he got his name Houdini?

Mom and dad put him in his crate in their bedroom and went to the pet store to pick up some supplies for him.  When they came home, he had escaped out of his crate and was wondering around their bedroom.  Mom said he was a cute little escape artist therefore Houdini stuck.  Personally I don’t think mom shut his crate all the way.”

I leave you with his very first video that mommy made the day he came here.  Enjoy my friends and let’s take the time to tell Houdini WELCOME and Happy Anniversary.

Netflix Series

Have you watched this television series? I think it showed originally on Showtime.  (This picture was taken off of Google for the 8th Season).  The entire show is about Dexter Morgan who is a blood splatter expert working in Miami, Florida for the Miami Metro Police Department.  What people don’t know is that secretly Dexter is a serial killer.  Now saying serial killer brings to mind a bad person – an insane person, right?  I guess in a way it still rings true but Dexter is a little different.  He only kills people that deserve it.  Sounds weird huh?  We are talking about people that kill that get off in the court system or people that kill that others don’t know about.

While it was on Showtime, we didn’t watch it… you know for obvious reasons – we didn’t have Showtime 🙂 Snorts!  But when it went to Netflix, I put that show in my queue so fast and started watching it… all eight seasons!

Now we couldn’t watch while the purr things or Houdini was still awake.  Me and mom had to wait until they went to bed and were asleep and then we would watch 1-2 shows every night.

Now I want you to think about this.  There was eight seasons and about 12-13 shows per season.  So mom and this little oinker invested probably around 100 hours of watching around 104 shows.  No, we didn’t do this overnight.  Yes, we did it during downtime.  What?  Can’t a pig have a favorite show?

If you haven’t watched the shows, I’m not going to give anything away.  But I will tell you that we went through a LOT of drama, a lot of killings, a lot of twists and a lot of plots that made your mouth hang wide.  I started to know the characters like family.  I grew fond of some of them.  And after watching the shows, me and mom would discuss what happened.

The first three seasons we watched within a matter of weeks.  They kept me on my piggy hooves while covering one eye and jumping at surprises.  Yes, they were that good.

Season 4 through 7 were okay.  Something happened along the way.  You see Dexter was trying to be ‘normal’.  He even got married and had a baby.  All of this was great.

Then there was season 8, the final season.  To us, this is where things seemed rushed.  Have you ever read a book that was so good all the way through it and then in the last chapter you learn that everything was a dream?  Well, it was kind of like this to us.  It was so good but the last show of season 8 left us wanting.  There was so much more that could have happened.  I mean, yes there are only so many killings that a serial killer can do but it just felt empty here.  Too many things happened in the last show that your brain doesn’t have time to process it.  Then when it does, your brain is like WTF just happened… pardon the bad language.

Have you seen this series?  What did you think?  Discuss.
