One night last week, mom was craving pasta. Not just any pasta but a New Orleans Pasta from a local restaurant. Look at this picture. Wouldn’t you crave it too? Mom doesn’t usually crave pasta but when she does, she always goes for this one. It has penne pasta, shrimp, chicken, smoked sausage, peppers, onions and a spicy homemade Cajun alfredo sauce. Doesn’t it look yummy?
The only thing mom hates about this pasta are the shrimp. Why do they keep tails on the shrimp when they serve it in a pasta like this? Mom has to stop and take the time to remove all of the tails so she can jump right in and eat. What do you think about this pasta?

I know! Mom says that they are most annoying. She doesn’t want to play with her food – she wants to eat it. So she makes daddy go through her pasta and take all of the tails off for her. True love huh? XOXO – Bacon

I don’t know why they leave the tails on either. It’s annoying and messy if you want to get all the shrimp out of the tail part. Otherwise you cut off the tail and lose some of it. Looks good though.

Exactly! I think a lot of people feel the same. I know in some situations it’s a presentation thing but come on – it’s a pain in the ass when trying to eat. LOL – XOXO – Bacon’s MOM

Uh. That’s not Cajun Alfredo sauce. That’s just red gravy. Alfredo sauce is white. 🙂 A lot of commercial kitchens leave the tails on the shrimp because — as you know — it’s time consuming for them to peel the tails. I can’t think of one restaurant here in New Orleans that serves tailless shrimp.

But what a pain for the eater, right? I know all of the restaurants do that here too. I imagine it can be overwhelming for them to do all at once. But it would be nice to have a dish tailless… until then I keep asking the husband nicely to take the tails off for me – LOL. XOXO – Bacon’s MOM
PS I agree with you about the sauce. Someone is not paying attention at the restaurant in naming that dish!

We just take the shrimp out with a spoon and eat it like a crawfish. Messy, but fast. Funny, it’s probably good Cajun Red Gravy. Nice, with a little heat…

I so agree about the shrimp tails. I think they’re just too lazy in the kitchen, to remove them. Next time I order shrimp pasta, I shall insist that it is tail-less. 😀
