My Afternoon Snack

02 Nov

Here in the south we have traditions. You know like sweet tea, sweet potato pie, anything fried and football. While watching television, you need supplies. Drinks and snacks are always handy. One of our favorites here are something that I love so very much. If I’m lucky, mom and dad will help me out. Sometimes these hooves are not made for things like shelling boiled nuts. Have you ever had these? Mom and dad found a guy who runs a stand and boils these delectable little morsels. They sell them to you in a bag that keeps them hot. So very tasty. I thought I would share this picture. You’re welcome.

Not for me. Give me regular roasted peanuts. Boiled ones don’t come close.

Salted water my sweet love. It brings out the flavor. And it’s an old southern thing here that we shell them and put them on our ice cream. It’s so delicious! The first time mommy fixed me some I was like no way. Then I tried it and have been stuck every since. So yummy! XOXO – Bacon

I love boiled peanuts but there is only a couple of produce stands in the area that sells them and I rarely get a chance to go there.

I know! It’s the same here. But when mom/dad see the stands, they have to stop and get some. Daddy never really had much of them until he met mom. Now they get them all of the time. And hey – this little piggy LOVES them. XOXO – Bacon

When I first moved to the south and heard about this I thought people here are really strange. Then (cue dramatic music) I tasted a Spicy Boiled Green Peanut !! As you say “OH MY PIG! Heaven in a shell. 🙂 We have a Mom and Pop store that sells greenies in season so I make them at home.Takes time but so well worth it and the smell in the house, well you know. P.S. I am enjoying your Moms food blog alot.Tell her “more-please” Y’all have a great day.Your Alabama fan…

aaww thanks my sweet Alabama friend. I really appreciate that for my mom. She is trying. Eating is her mission in life – snorts. Now you know where I get my eating from – PLOL (Piggy laughing out loud). She actually has another post coming out tomorrow. I think she is trying to come up with a schedule – for now perhaps Tuesdays/Thursdays. I gotta go get me some more nuts now. ❤ XOXO – Bacon
