This picture is from Wikipedia. It shows the typical seasons – Spring, Summer, Fall and then Winter. That’s the way it’s suppose to fall. But this year, dear old Mother Nature is not playing fairly. Mommy says she needs hormone shots and daddy says she needs more dates with Father Time. I’m not sure which one is right. I just know that maybe she needs a kick in the butt. Yep, I said. I kick right smack in the middle of her captains quarters.
You see, this weekend is what I’m talking about. Saturday here at the Hotel Thompson we get up and it is beautiful. There’s no other way to put it. The birds are chirping (and that’s a story for another time – snorts), the sun is out, the wind is just right and the temperatures are in the 60’s. You couldn’t ask for a more gorgeous day.

Our neighbor Big Daddy had cut our yard and the back yard was spectacular. Thanks Big Daddy! We went out there and ran for a while. Mommy says it was for me to get some sun and I said I understood. Secretly I knew she wanted me to run some excess Winter weight off so I would sleep more deeply tonight. I’m good with that. I just wonder why she didn’t make daddy do the same. Double snorts.
It was a wonderful day. Lots of running, loving and snuggles.
Then BAM! What a change Sunday. Sunday brought us rain, cool weather and strong winds. We could actually sit inside and hear the winds! We all got up and had breakfast together. It was so damp and yuck outside that after breakfast, we all went back to bed. Now, I’m not hating days like this because usually, like this day, when we go back to bed we all get on the Select Comfort for a siesta. It was great.
Picture this. A king sized Select Comfort bed with two humans, one purr things, one pooch and a piggy. Snorts, Me and Houdini are a 65 with mommy on the Select Comfort. Daddy and Hemi are a 100. That’s just too hard for this little oinker. When we got up from our nap, it was still yuck outside.
Now, I’m telling you all of this for a reason. It’s suppose to be Spring but it still acts like Winter. I’m suggesting a new season called – Sprinter. You get it? Spring with Winter. So sometime today, tell someone Happy Sprinter. Then smile and remember my little story here. 🙂
Happy Sprinter my pals!

WHO do I need to talk to my friends? This weather is horrible. It has been raining so much that I’m not sure which of us is more done with, me, mom, dad or Bacon. And to top it off, it’s cold. Not freezing cold but chilly willy for this little camper. I’ll tell you a secret of how cold it is – come closer – some days I don’t even get out of my onesie – that’s how cold it is. Can you imagine?!
And one night this week, mom came home from the worky place and was cold and tired. After she put on her onsie, she cuddled up on her chaise to relax. I drug my lobster bed all the way from my bedroom to the fireplace. Then I jumped on the chaise with mom to watch the fire. She laughed cause she was like all of that work and I’m going to sit with mom now? Nah, I’m a smart doggie. I was letting the fire from the fireplace take the chill off my bed and make it all nice and toasty for me. See, who’s the smart one now huh? After a few minutes, I went and got in that toasty bed. I was so snug and warm!
Hopefully, it’s suppose to be a pretty weekend here – cold but no rain – so maybe I can go out with mom/dad for a ride. I feel a field trip to the local pet store coming on for me. I haven’t destroyed any pillows in a while – barks!
Well that’s all for me my friends – yawns – I hope you had a wonderful week as well. Happy weekend!

You know this is something I really never gave a second thought to really until I got an email from my good friend Lori with What the Ducks. She sent me an email asking me to be part of the fight for SOS: Save the Soils. I went to her page and actually watched the video by PBS. You can see the video here. Let me tell you something friends, if you get a chance in your day please check this video out. It’s 30 minutes of education showing how important it is to take care of this land so it will be here and work for us in a way it needs to.
I’m not an “outside” piggy so I didn’t know a lot about outside living. But you know what is interesting? Mommy told me some stories about grandpa (mom’s daddy). He was from the south and mom said that the entire time when she was growing up, they had a garden. And do you know what? He was using compost way back then giving to the earth year after year. He told mom that compost was the better way for a garden because it gives to the food that you plant. He probably didn’t know it then but he was making this world a better place for all of us. You put in what you get out.

And you know what else mommy said? If grandpa was still alive today, he wouldn’t want me just in any ordinary mud hole full of chemicals and yuck. I shiver just thinking about that. If grandpa was alive and I was an outside piggy, he would give me the cleanest, purest mud that even mommy could use. Now wouldn’t that be something special?
So my friends, today please take time and join with me on this very important SOS: Save the Soils. Not just for today – but every day. Let’s make this a better place to live and breathe.

Help! This is our outlook this week from the local weather peeps. It’s not looking too good for us, really. Yesterday, it was beautiful. The temperature was in the 50’s and me and mom even went outside for a while. Today starts a quick downward swirl into Snowmageddon Part II. Shivers.
Help. I can’t go through this again. I’ve met snow. Snow was not nice. Snow was torturous for us here in Atlanta. Perhaps everyone learned their lesson last time and we are all more prepared this time. I really hope so.
We have to get over this 70% chance of snow/ice/sleet thingy quickly before Friday, Valentine’s Day. Remember we have hot dates scheduled for the most romantic day of the year.
So friends, please start doing the go-away-Snowmageddon-repeat storm. We don’t want you here.

Mom is in quarantine. She is icky sick. She has been banned to her room with the door short. This is me all lonely on the couch all by myself.
Daddy is taking care of me and mommy. I know she’s in her room and I want to see her but daddy says not until she’s feeling a little bit better. He says she has a achy feeling, throat hurts, hard to talk running a temp kind of thing. It sounds yucky to me.
I hope she gets better soon!!

I finally came across a food that I didn’t care too much for. I ate it because well you know I’m a pig but can we say spit spit yuck snort.
Mom said it was a cumquat. It was a vile little thing. It was a little big bigger than a grape tomato, orange in color and had a great citrus smell. That’s where the enjoyment stopped.
Mom quartered two of them and took the seeds out for me. You eat the entire thing and I say that nicely. 🙂 The rind is sweet which is nice but then you get to the fruit inside. The fruit fills you. It’s sour like you wouldn’t believe! It shocked my little piggy body.
I don’t think I like them at all. Shakes head and walks away.
