Journey with Friends

Welcome my friends to our weekly issue of Journey with Friends.  This is a time that we come together for support, for encouragement, for fellowship – all with one single goal in mind – to live better.  Welcome to our journey to share our goals and our accomplishments and our disappointments and frustrations.

Together we can do this!

I exercised this weekend!  I walked the block twice – what a trooper huh?  LOL.  No, I couldn’t resist my friends.  I did do some walking last week and I’m trying to get back into the swing of things without donuts and chocolate.  I tell you, it’s been a tough couple of weeks but I’m working on it.

I’ve come to realize that life is life.  You are going to have stumbles.  The most important thing is to get back on the horse and carry on.  You can just stoop and simmer and what if.  You keep charging on to the new you.  It’s not a race.  We are going to trip and fall.  That’s when you lean on support from your friends like I do with all of you.  I can’t thank you enough for being there with me during this time.

So my friends, how was your week?

Hello friends – how did you do last week?  I walked 17,906 steps which is equivalent to 8.48 miles.  Not bad. I am up from last week.  I’m still trying to shoot for 5,000 steps a day which is still not happening…yet 🙂 I have faith that I will get there soon.  It’s such a balance of walking for health but yet not walking to hurt with my rheumatoid arthritis.  But it’s getting there.  I didn’t lose any more weight last week but I’m okay with that since I lost so much right off.  So – the goal for the next week is to walk more and eat better.  I can do that – you can do that!

I also had some blood work done last week and got my results back.  My cholesterol is right on key – no problems.  My A1C went from a 10 to an 8 so I’m on key with that going down.  I get blood work done again in 3 months.  I’m hoping to have that A1C down to at least a 7 or below by then.  I’m keeping my fingers crossed.

So how did  you do my sweet friends?  How was your journey to a better life?

Hello my sweet friends!  How was your week last week?  I’m thinking in the past couple of weeks, I need a pat on the back.  Why do you ask?  Let me tell you some facts 🙂  The first week I started, I walked 10.41 miles total.  I was encouraged.  Last week, I only walked 7.95 miles due to my pain levels being really high from my rheumatoid arthritis and my hip woohoo-jumping-smiley-emoticonbursitis. But although I was in pain, I ate clean.  So eating clean and moving more, drum roll please, I weighed Saturday.  And guess what?  Are you sitting down?  I’m down 16 pounds since we got back from vacation.  Now that to me is amazing.  That weight loss is from 3 weeks and it’s a high number but I usually start off that way and then narrow down every week.  I’m *beyond* excited.  Tomorrow I go for my yearly insurance biometrics so that will also give me some panel blood numbers to go by when I get my blood work done again in three months.

So I’m excited.  How did you do my friends?

How are you my friends?  How was your week?  Here there’s good and bad news.  Good news – I walked more.  In fact for the entire week, I walked the equivalent of 10.41 according to my Fitbit.  Now is that the greatest in the world?  Of course not.  But, it is an improvement of last week and I got up more and moved.  Which isn’t that what we all want to do at the end of the day?  Now did I lose anything – nope not at all.  Did I cut back everything I should have – nope not at all.

I’ve decided that I keep playing games with myself which is not taking care of what I’m trying to accomplish.  So what am I going to do about it?  I keep thinking long term and now I’m moving short term.  I’m hitting it hard for 2 weeks today.  See what I can do in two weeks.  I think by cutting it down in baby steps I might be able to inspire myself more.  Thoughts?

And have you ever had a week that you just felt like you were trying to catch up to everything?  That’s how my life has been lately.  Playing catch up.  So my friends – don’t worry I will be visiting blogs soon.  Just playing ‘catch up’.

So how did you do my friends?

The visitors are gone and safely tucked back at home now.  The vacation is over and the Journey begins.  June 1st I started hitting it hard and wearing my Fitbit full time.  So any results?  Well, I think the first week is always the adjustment week.  What weight I gained on vacation is now safely off – woo-hoo!  And I averaged the total combined steps I did into miles which equally 4.85 miles.  Okay – that’s a start.  I’ve had a lot of deadlines to meet at the end of last week and the beginning of this week.  That’s kept me desk bound but with the Fitbit I’ve been reminded to get up and move.  And this week when I get home from work every day, I’m going for a walk.  So next week I’m hoping to report better results.

So – how was your week my friends?

Journey with Friends and Who Are the Secret Guests?

Welcome my friends to our weekly issue of Journey with Friends.  This is a time that we come together for support, for encouragement, for fellowship – all with one single goal in mind – to live better.  Welcome to our journey to share our goals and our accomplishments and our disappointments and frustrations.

Hello sweet friends – How did you do last week?  I wore my imitation Fitbit 🙂 like a pro and recorded my steps everyday.  One day, I got up to almost 4,700 – awesome huh?  My goal right now is just 5,000 steps a day.  I’m building up to 10,000 and will probably increase it next month.

I’ve eaten really, REALLY light last week because you know we have our mysterious guests this week – happy dance.  So I wanted to make room to eat – anyone else do this?  Eat light one week when you know you are going to be having a blast in the upcoming week?

So I have to admit I’m going to be watching everything I eat this week…. as it goes in my mouth – snorts.  The DIEt is off for these days while our visitors are here but on the other hand we will be doing a lot of walking so that’s good, right?  And next week when everyone is gone 😦 , then we will be kicking it up a notch.

Hope your week goes well.  HUGS!

And can I get a drum roll?

They come from the land down under…

Fozziemom and Fozziedad!!!

Hey friends – Happy Monday.  How are you doing today?  How was your week?

I’m learning to be nice to myself.  To take care of me first and then let others fall closely behind.  It’s a hard thing to do but I’m trying and it’s a step by step process.  Speaking of step by steps – LOL – I want to talk about something I got last week.  It’s a knock off of the Fitbit.  You know the little band you wear on your arm day and night that monitors your steps.  I can’t say enough nice things about this.  It’s awesome.  I charged it up Tuesday morning when I got it.  The only bad thing I can say is when you charge it, it pops into the charger and getting it out of the charger takes a little flexing.  After 45 minutes, it was ready to go.

I put it in the band, downloaded the app to my iPhone, made some updates on the app and there you go – time to forget about it and get on with your day.  Now the only time you take the band off is if you are showering (you don’t want to get it wet) or charging it.  It connects on your cell phone over Bluetooth.  Usually the face is black but I turned it on by a gentle touch to show you how it looks with the time.  It shows you the time, the date, steps you have taken and converts the steps into miles for the day.  At night, you turn it on sleep mode and it monitors your sleep patterns – how cool is that huh?  AND, it has an alarm that vibrates on your wrist every 2-3 hours to remind you to get up and move around if you are to sedentary.

Now, I’m a true lover of this watch and in no way got paid for saying any of these things.  I think this ‘knock off’ is ideal – especially when normal Fitbits go for around $130.00 and up.  Since I’m a bargain buyer you know that’s just too much for me.  I got this sweet band on sale from amazon for – are you ready for this – less than $20.00!  It is totally awesome and I’m hoping that it reminds me to move it – move it.  In fact the second day I wore it, I was up to over 3,000 steps which is great to me.  My goal is to eventually get to 10,000 steps a day.

So my friends, what have you done lately to help yourself out?  Have an awesome week – remember WE CAN DO THIS TOGETHER!

Hello friends!!  How did your week go?  Last week, I made some decisions.  Some of them were harder to decide but I’m standing firm with them for now.

First Decision – the plasma clinic.  Lately I can’t get my pulse under 100.  I have an accelerated heart beat to begin with and every time I go to the clinic it’s a stressful situation to get that number down.  And with the other excitement happening here at the Hotel Thompson at the end of the month, I just know that the number is not going down anytime soon.  Therefore, I am halting my donations for now.  I’m proud in the fact that I have made 38 plasma donations and I’m hoping that has touched people in need.  Later once I can get my pulse rate down, I may revisit the plasma clinic.  But for now, I feel relieved for taking a break.

Second Decision – I *have* to do better with this way of eating.  I’ve been playing with it for months now and I keep making excuses.  It’s always going to be this or that with mountains and valleys to overcome.  I need to start learning how to let go of stress and handle it better.  So, deep breaths, today is a new day.  I’m going to really, really try to do better – especially in the next couple of weeks.  Then our guests arrive and I will probably take that week off and then start afresh again.

Sometimes we have to step back and reevaluate ourselves and this has been one of those times.  I’ve noticed that I’ve had to much on my plate for a while and I kept thinking I could handle it all.  Guess what.  I’m not Super Woman… I wish I had her body though – LOL.  But as women in general, I think we all think we can handle everything.  But after a while, everything catches up with you.  So I am making a commitment to be better to myself.  I need to take time for me and listen to my body before it starts shutting down.

So what about you my friends.  Ever felt this way?  I would love to hear about it ((HUGS)) ♥

Hey my friends – how was your week?  Have you ever felt like time flies by – literally?  I mean I have great intentions on my to do list but sometimes there just isn’t enough time in the day.  Remember when we were kids and seemed like it took forever to be the end of the day – or for it to be summer – or for Christmas?  Now, you sneeze on January 1st and BOOM – it’s Christmas shopping time.  Shaking my head.  I’m telling you – it’s just not enough time in the day.

I gained a couple of pounds last week on my journey but I’m okay with that.  I”m not going to beat myself up because there is so much going on here.  We still have plans at the end of the month with entertaining and going to the beach and lots of planning is being done.  The kids are being wild – I think all of them know it’s almost summer and they want to play in the wild outdoors – AKA Magical Backyard.  And they will as soon as we somewhat snake proof it.  Shivers to those crawly things.

So my friends – how was your week?

Hello my friends!  Another week behind us and another week before us.  Last week, I have to admit that I really didn’t watch very carefully what I was eating.  These weather changes here (storms, rain, clouds and then hot the next day) has my arthritis really acting up.  Some days, my hips were inflamed and on fire hurting so badly.  Other days it was my back.  Hopefully the weather changes will settle and my body will get accustomed to the weather.

I’ve also been working on the surprise we have coming at the end of May.  Nope – my lips are sealed and I will not reveal what it is.  But, there has been planning to do and things to purchase to get ready for it.  And I will tell you hopefully beach time will be involved so therefore swimsuits have been looked at on-line.  Have you looked for swimsuits lately?  WOW!  What a difference they have turned in the different sizes.  But, I think I found one that I like that is similar to the 60’s pin-up style – very cute I think.  We shall see if it maintains that cuteness once we get it here at the Hotel Thompson – LOL.

So how was YOUR week my friends? Anything exciting going on in your part of the world?
