Happy Days – Spring

20130319-083505.jpg

Do you smell that?  It’s been an entire year since I’ve last smelled nature like that.  It’s finally SPRING!!

It’s time for the flowers to bloom.  It’s time for the anipals to start coming back out in the backyard and playing – I can’t wait to see my rabbits again.  It’s time for me to come out of hibernation and start being more active.  And you know what that means – driving mom and dad crazy with my antics at the Hotel Thompson – snort.

Spring is a wonderful time of the year.  The weather is better and not so cold.  It’s time to start getting out and going fishing.  Okay – I know.  I gotta get outside into nature before I can start enjoying the outdoor life.  It’s a big backyard and it’s fenced in here at the Hotel Thompson.  I could actually go out there and play with the bunnies.  But first, maybe I need to get some boots.  I don’t want to step into nature or anything.

Mom says with Spring comes Spring cleaning – that part I don’t like so much.  Especially when she said I had to help.  But hey, I’m more active now so I’ll give it a shot.

Happy Spring my friends!!

Spring is Around the Corner

20130319-083317.jpgI think this says “EVERYTHING” about what I’m feeling – spring is near and around the corner.

I SO CAN’T WAIT!!  It’s time for this little piggy to come out of some hibernation and start moving again.  I miss the days of running throughout the Hotel Thompson and chasing playing with the purr thing and the barky thing.  I just know they’ve missed me too.

And with Spring – you know what else comes – all the wonderful fruits of the season.  Oh, it makes my little mouth water so much.

Is everybody with me on this Spring thing??

Come Here Spring!

Dearest Mother Nature – Really?  This weather you are throwing at us is outrageous.  One day it’s in the 70’s and the next day it’s in the 30’s.  Daddy says you are going through – what did he call it? – menopause.  He says that’s the only way to explain the vast difference in temperatures.  I can’t tell you what mommy called it – it was a bad word.

Yesterday here it was beautiful.  It was the first day it hasn’t rained.  Which by the way it has rained so much that I think I’m sprouting feathers and quacking now instead of oinking.  Today when mom went to work, it was so dark I thought it was night.  Nope, it was the same time that she usually leaves.  It was dark because it looked like the sky was fixing to fall out with thunderstorms.  Lovely.

You know there are medicines that you can take for these mood swings.  If they don’t help, maybe you need to see a professional instead of taking this out on everyone in the world.  I’m just sayin’.

Paw Time with Houdini

It’s been a long week here at the Hotel Thompson.  We’ve been having weird weather.  You know the kind that brings out all of your doggy senses.  So you get up/down all through the night to check things out because you know you gotta protect the humans.  Bacon and Hemi don’t seem to mind the weather changes.  It drives me crazy and makes my inner Yorkie come out.  So here I am all tuckered out on my ottoman in the living room in front of the fireplace.  I was bushed from getting up/down the night before.  Speaking of which, I have to share a little funny with you.  I can jump.  Don’t let anyone tell you anything different.  Mom/dad’s bed in their bedroom is now obstacle for me.  I can run and jump on that thing anytime I want.  But I found something so much better these days.  In fact, daddy didn’t believe mom when she told him until he heard it himself.  Here it goes…. mom/dad sleeping so hard in a deep sleep, I jump down to check the perimeter.  When I come back, I waddle over to mom’s side of the bed.  I will perch up on the side where she lays facing the wall and growl at her.  I call her my elevator.  With enough growling she wakes up and lifts me in the bed with her.  Of course she fusses but I know she doesn’t mind.  I call her my personal elevator.  Dad is just lucky I don’t do it him.  In fact, I think he’s jealous.  Barks with puppy laughter!  Do you do anything like this to your humans to keep them in line of who really is the boss of your crib?  Now I leave you with Jokes with Daddy – enjoy and try not to cringe.

Hell Froze Over

Yep, you heard me right.  Hell froze over.  Why do you ask?  Well, we got snow in the south.  Shocker huh?!  We never get snow and twice this year we’ve had it.  The first time back in December 2017.  It wasn’t much.  Hardly anything to write about.  It was more of an inconvenience than anything else.  Then early this week they said we would be getting snow.  Of course, here in the south we laughed.  I mean really think about living in the south.  If we see a single snowflake, we shut down.  Honestly we do.  We are not equipped for snow and we don’t know how to drive in that kind of weather.

So Tuesday night, mom got a text stating work would be delayed Wednesday for two hours – report in at 10AM.  No problems.  Mom woke up Wednesday morning and squealed for joy.  I heard her.  It scared me.  Do you remember when you were in school and you thought you might be having a snow day and you were so excited?  Mom was exactly that for some reason.  She had not even left the bed and she said it snowed.  How did she know?  Is she psychic?  Mom said she could tell because everything was so bright inside of the Hotel Thompson.  I don’t know what she was talking about.  We all stumbled to the front door.  She opened the door and we were in awe.  Look at all of that snow!  We were all mystified.

Mom then got a text saying work was called out for non-essential personnel.  Mom actually jumped for joy.  It’s strange seeing her do that.  Really it is.  Mom then went to the back door and opened it up for all of us.  She told us we could go out and play in the snow.  Shaking my head.  Mom do you not know us at all?  Houdini yawned and left to go back to bed first following by me.  Trust me.  I do not want snow or cold stuff rubbing against my pot belly.  I’ll pass.  What was mom thinking?

Then this morning she was again delayed two hours.  But when she left for work, there was icicles going across the front of the Hotel Thompson.  Do you see them?  And mom called us when she got to work.  What usually takes less than 15 minutes took mom 45 minutes this morning.  The roads were still icy and full of snow.  Mom said there was also some – what did she call them? – IDIOTS driving on the roads going fast like there was no tomorrow.  Weirdos.

Happy First Day of Autumn!

Yeah – the cooler weather is finally getting here.  I just love Autumn – or Fall – whichever you prefer.  I love the cooler weather.  I love that it means that it’s almost the holidays.  And this year, mom says it means I can run and jump in the leaves in the back yard.  I totally can’t wait.

Happy Autumn my friends!  XOXO – Bacon

Paw Time with Houdini

This picture tells you absolutely everything you need to know about how hot it is here in the south of Georgia.  The heat index this week has been torturous.  Just moving it seems to make sweat and heat.  Even mom/dad says it is like living in a walk in sauna.  There are *those* peeps that say don’t complain because winter will be here soon.  Then there are *those* peeps like my mom/dad who absolutely love the winter.  Not the ice, snow close down school/businesses cold but the 60’s or 50’s temps outside.  Now that is weather my mom/dad LOVE.  As they peeps say, you can always put on clothes to stay warm but you can’t keep taking off clothes to get cool.  Well you could but dad said you might get arrested outdoors.  Hilarious huh?  Speaking of dad, now I leave you with Jokes with Daddy.  Hope you have a great weekend sweet friends ❤

Happy Groundhog Day!!

Journalist Rocky the Squirrel here –

“Keeping my paws on the nuts of the world!”

.

.

Today, February 2nd is Groundhog Day.    According to folklore, there are two options that could happen today:

If it’s cloudy when the groundhog emerges and he doesn’t see his shadow, then spring will be right around the corner; but

If it’s sunny when the groundhog emerges, he does *see* his shadow and retreats back into his burrow, then winter will continue for six more weeks.

The largest groundhog day celebration takes place every year in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania.

Personally, I hope that spring is right around the corner.  I could go for some warmer weather here at the Hotel Thompson.  And I know that oinker Bacon would enjoy it.

Good luck on whatever you want.   I’ll be back soon!
