Dear Bacon

Dear Bacon – We are all trying to do everything we can this time of the year to make more money for Christmas.  I’m working on chaperoning humans around that kind of party too much.  Hey, it’s just one of those things of giving and caring you know.  And don’t worry.  Those that I pick up don’t remember me driving them anywhere let alone the money I take out of their wallet – barks!  Signed Duber

Dear Duber – Dude that is an awesome service.  And you are right, no one will remember the great service that you are rendering.  Stay safe my pal and drive between the lines!

Dear Bacon – It’s going to get cold soon in these parts.  I gotta make sure we have enough wood for the fireplace to keep the house nice and toasty.  When the humans go to work, so do I!  But don’t worry, safety first with this ax.  Signed Lineman of the County

Dear Lineman of the County – AWESOME!  Bravo – bravo – bravo my friend.  That is some thinking of ahead to make sure you stay warm.  And if the humans stay warm – that means you get more play time and treats.  That is a most excellent idea.

P.S.  You know where I can get some of those boots in a pig size 3?

Dear Bacon –  Talk about a hart day.  I’m telling you beautiful life is so hard some days keeping up with all of the activities this time of the year.  There’s the hairballs to fuss up.  There’s the dogs to keep in line.  There’s the hiding from the yearly Christmas card that goes out.  There’s the singing at midnight to be scheduled.  There’s the pouncing on the keyboards when the humans want computer time.  Sigh – see – it’s a hard life being this good.  I just want to kick back in my recliner at the end of the day with a glass of wine.  How do you keep your sanity?  Signed Kitty Pinot Noir

Dear Kitty Pinot Noir – WOW – You make happiness look so good my little purr friend.  When you put everything down the way you did, your life is active.  I myself try to take many, MANY naps during the day.  This keeps me sprite and ready for mom when she returns home at the end of the day from her worky place.  Cause we all know that when the homes get home, it’s game time!

Dear Bacon – It’s that time of the year!  Finally all of the great movies come on television that scream HOLIDAYS.  This is me from over the weekend.  I looked at the television guide that morning and saw that my movie of the season was coming on that night.  Got in my jammies, took out my contacts and had the popcorn ready for my netflix and chill – HOME ALONE.  Dude, can that Kevin scream or what?  I absolutely love that movie.  It just shouts Merry Christmas!!  Signed Dog Alone

Dear Dog Alone – OMP!  That’s one of my mom’s favorites too.  She says it’s not Christmas time until she watches that movie on television.  What a coincidence you two have.  I say go for it my friend and make the holidays happen for you.  I myself love to watch Rudolph every year.  That is my Christmas show to start the season.  Enjoy and be safe!

REMEMBER my friends – Dear Bacon can’t happen without YOU.  Please continue to send me your letters and pictures to my email.  Thanks!

Paw Time with Houdini

WHO do I need to talk to my friends?  This weather is horrible.  It has been raining so much that I’m not sure which of us is more done with, me, mom, dad or Bacon.  And to top it off, it’s cold.  Not freezing cold but chilly willy for this little camper.  I’ll tell you a secret of how cold it is – come closer – some days I don’t even get out of my onesie – that’s how cold it is.  Can you imagine?!

And one night this week, mom came home from the worky place and was cold and tired.  After she put on her onsie, she cuddled up on her chaise to relax.  I drug my lobster bed all the way from my bedroom to the fireplace.  Then I jumped on the chaise with mom to watch the fire.  She laughed cause she was like all of that work and I’m going to sit with mom now?  Nah, I’m a smart doggie.  I was letting the fire from the fireplace take the chill off my bed and make it all nice and toasty for me.  See, who’s the smart one now huh?  After a few minutes, I went and got in that toasty bed.  I was so snug and warm!

Hopefully, it’s suppose to be a pretty weekend here – cold but no rain – so maybe I can go out with mom/dad for a ride.  I feel a field trip to the local pet store coming on for me.  I haven’t destroyed any pillows in a while – barks!

Well that’s all for me my friends – yawns – I hope you had a wonderful week as well.  Happy weekend!

Dear Bacon

Dear Bacon – Hey there.  Our names are Chill and Squeal.  We are pleased to meet you piggy.  We would love to meet you one day and have some fun. It sounds like we have a lot in common – play, eating, hiding, eating, rolling around, eating, hibernating until Spring, eating.  See, don’t you think?  And don’t worry about Chill’s sharp teeth in his picture.  He doesn’t use them much.  Signed Chill and Squeal

Dear Chill and Squeal – Well don’t ya’ll look like hospitality charm.  I say if you are in the area, check me out.  I’m all for new adventures – especially when eating is involved.  Perhaps we can give the purr things here a run for their money.  Just sayin’.  And what cute little sweaters – adorable!

20140111-200658.jpg

Dear Bacon -ssshh – don’t say a word.  We are playing hide and go seek from the purr things.  I think we found *the* spot.  We have been under here for almost two hours and the purr things haven’t even been in the room.  Awesome huh?  Signed Hide and Seek

Dear Hide and Seek –  Playing with the purr things, huh?  First let me commend you on your hiding spot.  It is most excellent indeed.  Secondly let me tell you something about pesky purr things.  They put you up to hide – are you ready for this? – to get ricd of you.  And to think, they succeeded for two hours in not having you around.  My friends, this calls for payback.  Go hide their kitty boxes.  I dare say *that* would be the ultimate pay back in hide and seek.  And maybe that would teach them not to mess with the dogs!.

Dear Bacon –  There is nothing to do in the winter weather except crawl up in front of the fireplace, don some glasses and read the great American novel.  Here I am reading about Rin-Tin-Tin.  It’s a great read full of adventures that we just can’t do in these cold months ourselves.  What’s your favorite thing to do in the cold months?  Signed Sir Chomps

Dear Sir Chomps –  Awesome my friend.  Reading is a great way to pass the time and live in another place for a while.  These cold months can be so awful and cold.  My favorite thing in the winter is being wrapped in my king sized Egyptian cotton sheet and dreaming of days of warmth and fun in the Spring.  It’s a great way to stay warm..

20140111-200725.jpg

Dear Bacon – You talk about your piggy bed all of the time.  I just wanted to show you mine.  Here I am chilling in the morning after the staff have went to work.  It’s my favorite part of the day.  A great nap followed by a snack following by another nap before the people get home.  You like?  Signed Dog in a Bed

Dear Dog in a Bed –  Hey, you are *MY* kind of friend.  I love me some sleep somewhere comfy and warm.  I say go for it!  And your routine ROCKS!  One can never have too many naps or snacks.

20140111-200805.jpg

Dear Bacon – I just had *that* surgery where the aliens came down and kidnapped my best friends if you know what I mean.  The only great thing is they sent me home all drugged… which I highly recommend.  Thank goodness I read about this procedure from when your Houdini had his so I knew what to expect from the alien invasion.  Dude, those little green guys can be vicious can’t they?  Signed I’m a Happy Dog

Dear I’m a Happy Dog –  Happy huh?  I know that’s the medicine talking pal.  Just think in a couple of days, the aliens will have erased all of this pain and discomfort from your mind.  Until then, enjoy the drugs 🙂

You Know What They Say…

Do you know what they say about the grass is always greener on the other side?  Or here’s another one – be careful what you wish for?  Yeah, I think I stepped four hooves right into this problem.  I wanted Spring.  Spring is here.  The weather is warmer than Winter… there’s a nice breeze outside… the birds are chirping… the grass is green.  What could be wrong you ask?

One word.

Yep, that six lettered dirty word – POLLEN.  In the south, it’s bad.  I mean really bad.  Today’s forecast:

Total Pollen Count for 4/11/2014: 4054

That’s really high.  That means everything is yellow… or like mom calls it pollinated.   The itchy, watery eyes.  The sneezing.  The can’t breathe because your throat is full of pollen.  And, you can taste it.  Really, you can.  Who wants to go outside and roll around in the grass with all of this out there?  Perhaps I should have been more specific with Mother Nature about Spring?  Daddy has to wear a mask outside when he ventures out.  Between us – he kind of looks like a human wearing a snout – snorts.  And snouts – I’m not going out in my magical backyard until this pollen goes away.  I don’t care how much the unicorn and bigfoot plead for to come play.

Do you have pollen?  Are you a sufferer?  They say it will last for a couple of weeks until everything ‘blooms’.  Until then, welcome to Sprinollen… yep that’s what I’m going to call it.

There Are Some Days…

20121107-065814.jpgThere are some days that you just don’t want to get up.  You do for the food.  You do for the potty.  But after that, you just want to crawl back to bed, get comfy and go to dream world.

This morning was one of those days.  I got mom up for breakfast.  That was my civic duty during the week.  I always get her up for the worky place.  Sometimes the earlier I get her up the more time I have for snuggle time with her before she leaves – wink.

This morning I ate and went to potty.  Then I crawled up on mom and snuggled down.  She is *so* warm.  I put my snout on her legs to warm it up and use the other part of her leg as my pillow.  She usually wraps a blankie around us as well but she wanted to take this picture.  When it was time for her to go to the worky place, she tried to wake me up.  Every time she tried, I would push my head down harder because I didn’t want to move.  She just laughed 🙂  and she would give me a few more minutes to sleep while rubbing my back.  This piglet knows when he has it made!

Finally, she said she had to go get ready for the worky place.  I reluctantly got down, stretched and wobbled to my room.  I waited for mom to make my bed and get it all comfy looking.  Afterwards, I crawled in and she pulled the blankies up to my head tucking me in.  She kissed me good night and I went back to sleep.  Life is so hard being a pig!  🙂

Thanks Mom

20121022-070035.jpgThis is me.  All curled up on the sofa with my mommy on Sunday afternoon.  We had blankie up there with us and we were both cuddled around it.  In fact, this is pretty much where we spent the entire weekend.  I was a little snuggle buddy.  I just wanted to be close to mommy.  Of course, dad tested those boundaries again and tried to come over to our side.  He petted me.  I allowed that for a bit and then I had to tell him to go away.  This is me and mommy time.  She goes to that worky place during the week and I have to get all I can on the weekends.  She had the house smelling good too this past weekend.  It smelled like pumpkin and cookies.  I love that combination!

So you’re thinking what a cute little booger on that couch with mommy, right?  Mom took a photo of the bigger picture.  She had too – it was hilarious.  It’s all about the Bacon and his comfort.  I did give mommy a couple of inches so she wouldn’t fall off the couch though.  Snort – HEE HEE

Yep, those are mom’s legs and toes you see peaking out down there.  I had plenty of room though – no problems there.  Plus, she kept me warm, especially my belly and nose.  Gotta have those things nice and toasty.

See mom does all kinds of nice things for me.  Happy Monday my friends –

XOXO Bacon

The Best Sleep

20120601-070405.jpg

The best sleep for me has to be early in the morning.  After I do my civic duty in waking up mom for the worky place, she feeds me my wonderful breakfast of pig pellets and cheerios – the breakfast of champions everywhere 🙂

After I eat, I like to snuggle with mom.  Sometimes we go back to her bed and other times we go back to my bed.  She sits or lays down to watch the morning news and I crawl as close 20120601-070440.jpgas possible to her right leg.  Has to be the right leg because it’s my favorite – snort.  I have to get my snout warm from drinking my water so I put it right under her knee.  Sometimes I tunnel it under to get just the exact heat.  Doesn’t everyone do this when their snout is cold?

Momma considers this our morning bonding time so she cuddles with me for about 30 minutes.  She pets my back, rubs my belly and massages my hooves during this time.  I especially love the belly rubbing part.  It’s a lot to carry and I need a lot of comfort there – HA!

When we get done cuddling and watching the news, she tells me it’s time for her to get ready for the worky place and for me to take my morning nap which I’m very good at might I add.  So this begins my day every morning.

Life is so hard, isn’t it?  When is your favorite time for sleep?
