Today’s Shopping Around the World is being hosted by our cousins Teddy and Angel Sammy from TWOspoiledcats. This month Teddy and Angel Sammy are hosting main meals that do not have meat. Now this is a tough one. Anyone that knows my daddy, knows that he is definitely a meateater. So mom got creative. She told daddy he had to come up with a meatless dinner. HA! It’s not so funny or easy when the job falls on the daddy. Good one mom! So without further ado, this is what daddy came up with for Shopping Around the World.
Dad here. I told the mom I had this one. I can do a meatless dinner. Sure I can. I have that much talent. Okay, maybe it’s not how the mommy does things on Shopping Around the World but I’m a man… give me a break this time okay. So over the weekend since we had a difficult time, I told the wifey I had dinner. That’s when we went to a restaurant called Mellow Mushroom. See, I know you are suppose to cook and post recipes but I do have a visual impairment so I get a learning curve, right? Thanks friends.

We started out by ordering a lil salad to share. It had romaine and iceberg lettuce, shredded carrots, red cabbage, onions, cucumbers, green peppers, mushrooms, Kalamata olives, Roma tomatoes and mozzarella. See that’s a great start. And I added candied pecans for crunch. Yummo! The salad cost $4.49 and there was plenty for me and the missus to share. Sorry for the picture. I forgot to snap it before I dug in.
Now came the hard part. Getting a meal without meat. This was the most difficult choice in my life in some time. I mean heck, first up my wife usually makes my food choices and she knows I like my meat. This body was made for meat! Second up, I don’t do much cooking so I kind of had to cheat and go out since I was challenged with this Shopping Around the World. I thought hard about what to order as a meatless entree. I think I nailed it.
May I introduce you to a large wheat dough Mellow Mushroom pie with an olive oil and garlic base (extra garlic please), fresh mozzarella cheese and black olives – no meats. Doesn’t that look awesome. I also sprinkled it with red pepper flakes. The pizza cost $16.96. And here’s the kicker. Me and the wife like to call this kind of meal, a meal that keeps on giving. There is enough pizza to last a couple of more nights – Deal of the Day, right?
So for a total of $25.00 (including a tip), we have a meatless dinner that lasts three nights for two peeps. So that’s what, $4.17 a person? Not bad for a dude huh? So I hope I pulled off Shopping Around the World this month.
Thanks again to cousins Teddy and Angel Sammy for hosting this month. Sending you much love from the Hotel Thompson ❤

Have you been enjoying our Travels in the South my friends? Today we continue our travels with Fozziemom and Fozziedad who visited with us all the way from Australia. Now, the month previous was Fozziedad’s birthday so everyone agreed to celebrate his birthday when he came to the States.
On this date, they all ventured downtown Atlanta to hang out for a bit and then to go to lunch. Since Fozziedad plays the guitar, mom researched and found a great shop close to the restaurant they would be going to for lunch. They all went into the store where they got to hear Fozziedad play and were totally amazed and I do believe mom was star struck ❤ Fozziedad is amazing and trust us, he knows his way around a guitar. Mom/dad said if they lived in Australia they would for sure have to go and hang out when he plays.
After the guitar store visit, they went to eat at one of my mom/dad’s favorite restaurants called Fogo de Chão.
This is an all you can eat type Brazilian Steakhouse. Now don’t worry. This place has everything – from the meat eaters to the vegetarians you will be happy here. You first start off with a huge salad bar that has everything that you can imagine. You can work on that salad first or have it with your meat selections. As you eat, they bring skewers of different varieties of meat to your table where they then carve it onto your plate. You choose what you want and how much. Now I have to tell you a secret. My mom/dad love this restaurant, especially these little rolls they bring to your tables in baskets. Mom says they mysterious and magically reappear in the basket every time you ask. Isn’t that amazing?
Everyone was instructed not to eat breakfast and have to empty bellies for this adventure at the restaurant. And I must admit, everyone got their fill – even dessert for the birthday boy. It was an awesome time. Sometimes when daddy puts me to bed, I ask him to tell me this story about the restaurant. I can just imagine myself laying up under the table, hooves up in the air like I just don’t care and being hand fed the remarkable steak at this place. Give me a moment….. okay let’s continue.
Afterwards, the group
wanted to go on a further adventure. You see a couple of years ago, downtown Atlanta installed SkyView Atlanta. Skyview Atlanta is a Ferris Wheel that is over 20 stories above Centennial Park. They have individual gondolas that are climate controlled. Did you hear that? Climate controlled as in the day everyone visited, it was an air conditioned gondola that they rode in. Can you believe that? Ferris Wheels have come a long ways baby. When you are up in the gondola, mom said you could see all kinds of views of downtown. It was totally awesome! And of course no trip is complete without a picture of your memories.
Oh, are you asking where daddy was? He was guarding the Jeep – snorts with piggy laughter. Due to dad’s vision, he can’t go up that far so he sat this one out and partied in the Jeep until we got done. Don’t fear – he had a great time rocking out to Queen.

My friend Fozzie and I have scheduled a group posting today of Shopping Around the World. We thought it would be interesting to see the differences between different countries all over. This month we are focusing on items for the vegetarians – fruits and vegetables. Special thanks to Corkscot for the suggestion this month.
.
Items priced this month – Prices in Georgia USA:
- Apples – Mommy goes to Sam’s Warehouse to get a huge bag of Granny Smith (my favorites) for $4.99 a bag. There’s about 15 HUGE apples in this bag. Which is good because I get a 1/2 of sliced apple before bedtime every night 🙂 It’s my bedtime snack.
- Strawberries – If we are lucky, our store puts 16 ounces packages of huge strawberries on sale for $2.50 a package. During the peak season, we go the strawberry patch. We can get a HUGE basket that we pick… and of course I sample… for $8.00
- Carrots – Mommy buys me the 16 ounce bag that are cut/peeled baby carrots. I live off of these! She gets them for $0.99 a bag – sometimes on sale she can get them two bags for $1.00 🙂
- Green Beans – Fresh are so yummy! We get them here in season for $0.99 a pound.
- Lettuce – We have been buying lettuce for a while now for $0.99 a head. Sometimes they are HUGE and well worth it and other times they are small and only makes a couple of meals for us. That’s right I said ‘us’. I get a salad for dinner every night with mom.
- Random Fruit of your choice. Seedless grapes. Smacking my piggy lips now. I ❤ it when mom pops them in the freezer and then gives them to me as a treat. Piggy heaven!
- Random Vegetable of your choice. Corn on the Cob – can you say delicious!? On sale, we can get three ears for $1.00. This is a great deal. She shucks them, wraps them in aluminum foil, sprays them with butter and throws them on the grill, in the oven or in the crock pot. My mouth is watering just thinking about how juicy they are!
