Happy First Day of Autumn!

Yeah – the cooler weather is finally getting here.  I just love Autumn – or Fall – whichever you prefer.  I love the cooler weather.  I love that it means that it’s almost the holidays.  And this year, mom says it means I can run and jump in the leaves in the back yard.  I totally can’t wait.

Happy Autumn my friends!  XOXO – Bacon

The BIG Surprise Revealed

Okay go ahead. Can you guess what the BIG surprise is that was acheduled for September?   Let me show you one picture and see if that helps.

Mom and dad are in Melbourne, AUSTRALIA 🇦🇺 visiting Fozziemom and her hubby. Squeals with piggy excitement. Can you believe that!?  A great trip planned and kept a secret since Christmas.

And don’t worry folks, since my rolling stone Bashful has dual citizenship in Australia he went along for the ride. Bashful was used to that long flight – somewhere around 20 hours – so he talked to everyone that he might. In doing that, he got invited up to cockpit for a personal visit. And trust me friends, even that wasn’t his first time. We will be sure to post more information when mom/dad get back.

Journey with Friends

Welcome my friends to our weekly issue of Journey with Friends.  This is a time that we come together for support, for encouragement, for fellowship – all with one single goal in mind – to live better.  Welcome to our journey to share our goals and our accomplishments and our disappointments and frustrations.

Together we can do this!

Hello friends – how was your week?  We held our own here at the Hotel Thompson.  From working so hard in the past weeks, we took this weekend to chill.  We turned off the phones, the computers and the iPad and chilled.  Mostly we watched television and cooked in the kitchen.  I have to say, I made some amazing meals this weekend.  I feel pretty good today – which is totally awesome for a change.  It’s finally started to get cooler here – this morning it was 46 degrees when I left for work.  It’s almost finally time to switch from flip-flops to the Ugg boots – YAY!

I’m happy to report that today is Monday and today I feel great.  My pain levels is probably around a 2 from my rheumatoid arthritis – that is excellent for a change!  Hopefully it is finally taking a turn for the better – it seems ages since I felt this good.  This week calls for more work and lots of errands to run next weekend.

So my friends, how was your week?

Hello sweet friends.  How did you do last week?  Last week, I functioned in survival mode.  I had a lot to do at work for the beginning of the month and ending the 3rd Quarter of the year.  That meant long hours and crashing hard upon getting home for the day.  So no.  My eating choices were not on par but yet again they weren’t the worse in the world either.  I call it one of those okay weeks.  I’m only weighing once a month at this point at the end of the month.  I think that helps me get along without concentrating too much on numbers but more on how I feel.

This weekend I played catch up from the week.  Do you ever have one of those weeks where you over-work then on the weekends you run around so much trying to play catch up that you need a NEW weekend just to rest?  That was me this past weekend.  I grabbed my mom and we went and run all the market errands Saturday.  Thank goodness for her because we were able to tag team the list and get everything done remarkably quick for a change.  Then me and the hub unit went for our flu shots for the season.  This has to be the best year for those shots.  We absolutely didn’t feel a thing which was awesome.  Our arms were a little sore that night and the next day but manageable.  But getting the flu show may account for my clumsiness.  Yep, I’m one of those peeps.  What you mean?  Like being in the car.  My mom opened a water bottle for me.  I grabbed it from the bottom and spewed water all over us and the center console.  Yeah, the car needed to be cleaned anyway – LOL.  Or this morning – shaking my head.  I opened up my awesome Pumpkin Spice creamer to put in my coffee.  My fingers are hurting a little for the worse today and I dropped said full bottle… all over me, the cabinets, the floor, the anipals here – shaking my head.  It did eventually end up in my coffee but now I smell like Pumpkin Spice.  Speaking of pumpkin spice, we saw the cutest movie on the Hallmark channel yesterday (because the football teams sucked Saturday 😦  ).  The movie was called Pumpkin Pie Wars.  Have you seen it?  Cutest little romantic movie.  You should look it up.

Hope you had a fantastic week and weekend sweet friends.  Tell me all about it ❤

Hey my friends.  How was your week?  Mine moved right along with its normal ups/downs.  But overall, not bad at all.  Food wise, we made good choices.  Now I did work a lot and I think my body was telling me over the weekend to slow down – and I did.  I rested all day Sunday with the kids surrounding me.  Who could ask for more than that, right?  We watched a couple of great movies on television, laughed and just had a great family day.

We also watched several football games over the weekend.  Unfortunately our beloved Tennessee Volunteers lost yesterday to Texas AM 45-38.  It was their first loss of the season and they did give it their all.  Shout out to Texas A&M for a job well played.  Now the next important game for our Tennessee is playing against their rival Alabama this Saturday 10/15/2016 at 3:30pm.  This is a game we will *not* miss.  We will be glued to our television.  In fact, you will probably here us screaming from the Hotel Thompson.

Another great game was the Atlanta Falcons playing Denver and winning 23-16.  Now, I have to give kudos to Denver and we know there are plenty of readers from that area here in the blogs.  Denver played a great game.  We also have to apologize for one of our Falcon players who got a little zealous towards the end of the game and got an unsportsman penalty.  We were not too happy about his behavior for sure.  So Denver it was a great game and Lynch was awesome.

Today is also Canadian Thanksgiving.  We would like to wish all of our Canadian friends a wonderful day full of love and happy moments.  Rejoice with your families and know that we love you too here at the Hotel Thompson.

So my friends, how was your week?  Did you watch any great games?

Hey sweet friends!  How did you do last week?  We are moving right along here at the Hotel Thompson.  I’m actually doing good.  I’ve been working a lot of different hours but I’ve also been watching what I’m eating.  It’s meshing the two half way these days.  Complicated but it’s working.  I no way got my walking in because of work.  But I can say that the weather is getting cooler.  Most days it’s still hotter than you can imagine but every couple of days, Fall tries to kick in and make an appearance.  And another thing about fall – pumpkin.  Oh my!  I just can’t get enough of pumpkin.  I actually found a recipe for pumpkin muffins with cream cheese.  I’m going to see if I can tweak the recipe to get rid of some of the sugar and try it maybe this coming up weekend.  It sounds so marvelous.  I’ll keep you posted and try to take pics.  How are you with pumpkin – yay or nay?

So my friends – how was YOUR week?  Hugs to a great week.

Dear Bacon

Dear Bacon – Who says that humans get to have all of the fun?  Us anipals can appreciate a good movie too.  For instance, one of the best movies ever made – can you guess it?  Star Wars of course!  I mean come on piggy – don’t you love it?  The lights, the action, the fights, marrying Hans Solo – what is there not to like?!  What do you think about the movie?  And what is your favorite movie.  You can tell me.  Signed Princess Leia Kitty

Dear Princess Leia Kitty – Well I can see my friend from your outfit that you really, REALLY like to get into your character and enjoy your movies.  I’m piggy enough to admit that I’ve never watched any of the Star Wars movies.  Now before you hiss too loudly, remember I’m only 4.5.  My dad hasn’t introduced me yet.  But I can guarantee you that after I read him your letter, he will.  Lucky me.

My favorite movie?  Of course Charlotte’s Web.  What’s not to like?  Snorts and oinks!

Dear Bacon – I know you have a pesky cat at the Hotel Thompson.  I have one here too.  Shaking my head.  Why are cats so evil?  They say their misunderstood.  Barks – as if.  They have the humans completed snowed – completely!  Us anipals know the truth.  You see, our humans were at work.  The pesky fur ball got onto the coffee table, looked at me and started to push the bowl of flowers towards the end of the table.  I was like NO! – but of course why listen to me – I’m just the dog as he puts it.  As he knocked the bowl off the table, I couldn’t help it with my expression and of course the turd took my picture.  Guess who got blamed for it?  Yep, moi.  Because we all know the cute little kitty would never do such a thing.  Help me my friend.  Signed OMD!

Dear OMD! – That pesky no good for nothing flea bag!  Yes I understand your situation completely.  Hemi here thinks he is the master and does things very similar.  Like smacking me hard on the fanny when no one is looking and when I try to take a nip at him squealing to the high heavens.  Heck, I wasn’t going to eat him – I was cleaning him… yeah that’s the story.  So you see, I know your pain.  I think perhaps your little friend should have some payback.  Call me – I’m sure we can come up with something like honey or peanut butter accidentally of course being left out for him to be covered in… or maybe a swift bath in the toilet.  What?  I would never hurt kitty – nope not at all 🙂

Dear Bacon – We have this cool thing in our hood called doggy daycare.  It is like the total bomb in the summer!  The bus comes to our house, picks us up and takes us on field trips and play dates and the doggy facility.  OMD!  I so highly recommend this.  We go twice a week and this is our picture from the bus – it’s so cool.  This was our “we aren’t doing anything-sweet-and-innocent” looks on the way home.  Dude, you gotta check it out and see if they have one in your hood.  Signed Summer Fun

Dear Summer Fun – Oh my piggy heavens!  That sounds like so much fun for sure!  You get out, your humans get a break and you make lots of friends and see things all over.  Oh my gosh!  I’m so green with jealous.  I gotta check this out.  Thanks my friends for letting me know of this awesome experience.  I wanna go on field trips too!

Dear Bacon – We were set up!  We found several notes in the woods saying there was going to be a party here at the house and that cover charge was a buck.  We came but we were set up – there was no party!  The room was dark and no one was at home.  What a joke!  We were hoping for a great time and a full keg.  Should we stand here until someone comes home?  Signed Buck Party

Dear Buck Party – OMP!  The cover charge was a buck?  Shaking my piggy head.  Oh my friends – you were definitely set up on this one.  I’m so sorry but in a way you have to admit it was kind of funny.  Should you stand there until the family comes back?  Probably not.  I wouldn’t want to see what they have in store for you if you do.  I say chalk this one up to experience and keep tracking the woods to see if the familiar smell of the person that set you comes back.

Take care my friends.

Remember friends – Dear Bacon can’t happen without YOU.  Please continue to email me your letters and pictures.

The visitors are gone and safely tucked back at home now.  The vacation is over and the Journey begins.  June 1st I started hitting it hard and wearing my Fitbit full time.  So any results?  Well, I think the first week is always the adjustment week.  What weight I gained on vacation is now safely off – woo-hoo!  And I averaged the total combined steps I did into miles which equally 4.85 miles.  Okay – that’s a start.  I’ve had a lot of deadlines to meet at the end of last week and the beginning of this week.  That’s kept me desk bound but with the Fitbit I’ve been reminded to get up and move.  And this week when I get home from work every day, I’m going for a walk.  So next week I’m hoping to report better results.

So – how was your week my friends?
