Boo! Scariest Movie

Oh my friends.  Let’s do a twist today.  Let’s see if you can scare me for a change.  Mom/dad were sitting the living room last night with us anipals.  The room was dark except for the flames of the fireplace.  They were talking about movies they have seen over the years that scared them silly.  Conversation went back and forth until they settled on two.

Dad’s Movie Pick – 1408.  This movie came out in 2007 and started John Cusack and Samuel L. Jackson.  You see John Cusack’s character was a so called ‘ghost hunter’.  He went to famous places and would spend the night in haunted rooms.  Most of the time, nothing happened and the places were debunked.  But then while writing his latest book, he travels to New York to stay at the Dolphin Hotel in room 1408, a haunted room.  In fact, it was so haunted that the hotel would not rent the room to anyone.  Through lawyers, he finds out that if the room is vacant, the hotel has to rent it so he makes a reservation to stay.  He checks in and meets with the hotel manager, played by Samuel L. Jackson. Jackson tries everything he can to persuade Cusack’s character not to stay in the room – a room upgrade, expensive booze and even will allow Cusack to look at a book he has made showing over 50 deaths in room 1408.  But in the end, Cusack stays in 1408.  Let’s just say that 1408 is everything you can imagine it to be.

Mom’s Movie Pick – House on Haunted Hill.  This movie came out in 1999.  Mom/dad will usually go to the movies to see comedy’s but for some reason, they saw this movie in the theater.  Don’t ask me why because it’s not like them.  Mom actually watched part of the movies with her hands covering her eyes.  At one time, she even told daddy that she might have to leave – that’s how scared she was.  The entire movie is about a millionaire who offers a diverse group of people $1,000,000 to spend the night in a haunted house with a horrifying past.  “nuff said before I make water from being scared.

So my question to you my friends, what is the one movie that you saw that scared your pants off?

Spotlight Thursday – Meet Sophie

Spotlight Thursday

Welcome my friends to SPOTLIGHT THURSDAY.  This is the time that I will introduce you to one of my fellow anipals so you can get to know them better.  Some of them, you may already know.  We hope that you enjoy this series!

Name:  Sophie

Age:  About 2 years old (a lady shouldn’t tell her age, right?)

Location:  Orange County, California

Web/Blog Page:  http://threechattycats.com/

What were your first thoughts when you met your new parents?  FOOD! I get real cat food! My mama found me outside a movie theater and I had been surviving on popcorn and whatever else I could find for the first 6 months of my life.

Who do you have wrapped around your paws more – mom or dad – and why?  DAD! I love to lay on his chest and he sometimes lets me groom his hairy chin (I guess they call it a beard). I’m pretty sure I’m his favorite kitty in the whole wide world. He loves the way I coo and chirp when I want attention. I loaf on his chest all the time and he’s putty in my paws.

What was the defining moment when you knew you were in your forever home?  .When my big brother Dexter cuddled and groomed me for the first time. I’ve been his shadow ever since and I love him very much.

What’s the biggest misconception that humans think about you?  About me personally? That I’m a big foodie. Yes, I like food. A lot. But really I just get so excited when I see food because I didn’t have it handed to me for the first part of my life. But I rarely ever finish my plate. And my big belly? That’s just that pouchy thing that some kitties get. But I don’t keep food in it.

What has been your biggest “Oh no, now I’ve done it” moment so far in your home?   Probably the time I trapped my head in a Kleenex box.  Luckily the Pops put the camera down after snapping a few shots to help me out.

Hope you enjoyed meeting my friend – check back next week for another Spotlight edition!

Pay it Forward

Okay Friends – Here We Go!

My sweet friends at Nikitaland have started this monthly issue of Pay It Forward.  We asked for you to keep this in mind all month and to share things here today on what you have been able to do.  Paying it forward is not for bragging purposes – it’s an attempt to show how many different things we can do to pay it forward – lots of them don’t even include money.  Gestures that we take for granite may be a God send to another person.  So here we go – I’ll start on what mommy has done in the past month.

.

  • Mom did another adventure through the McDonald’s drive thru in February.  She paid for the guy’s breakfast behind her.  All he had ordered was a biscuit so mom added a drink to his order as well.  She left one of my business cards with “Pass it Forward” on it.  It *made* the guy’s day!  Later on, I got an email stating, “YOU MADE MY DAY.  Thanks for the breakfast.  I will pass it forward.”  See – little things add up to make someone’s day!
  • During the month, mom and dad try to watch out for the trash can out front once a week.  They brought back the neighbor’s can a couple of times.  In this weather, that was awesome!
  • Mom and dad went to Cracker Barrel for dinner one night.  When they were checking out, there was a small boy that was at the cash register.  He was wanting to buy a small toy – it wasn’t much.  He was so polite!  He didn’t have enough money.  Mommy bought him the toy and let him keep his money for another one later on.
  • Now you gotta know that my parents eat out A LOT.  Snorts and rolls with laughter – that’s definitely a post for another time.  One night they went to IHOP.  There was an older man sitting by himself.  My mom in all of her southern charm, invited him to dine with her and dad.  They talked and had coffee for at least an hour.  His wife had passed last year and each week he goes to a restaurant to think of her.  It was a privilege to spend time with him and hear about his life.

Now I want to tell you about some things that was done TO mommy this past month.  Our great friend and co-chair of Pay it Forward, Valerie, is totally awesome!  Mommy has been so sick this past month and Valerie sent mom a pick me up card.  She enclosed a little something inside of the card for mommy to treat herself with a meal.  Now let me tell you.  That made my mommy smile and bubble with happiness.  Valerie – you go way beyond being a friend.  YOU are awesome and you rock!

And to the man at the theater this past weekend – you rock!  You don’t want me to mention your name but you were a life savior.  You see, when me and the hub unit go out sometimes it is difficult for the hub to go to the restroom.  We went to the theater and the bathrooms were dark.  There was no way that he could maneuver by himself.  A gentleman standing nearby waiting for his wife saw our dilemma.  He escorted Jim to the bathroom and out.  What a knight in shining armor – thank you so very much!

Another Pay it Forward we want to throw out is to the Hilton Garden Inn located at 4801 Governor’s Drive, Huntsville, Alabama 35805.  If YOU are ever in the area and need a place to stay, mom and dad highly recommend this location.  There are the nicest people at the front desk.  The hotel is overly accommodating with any need or desire you may have.  Not only did they let mom/dad check in early last week, they recommended some wonderful restaurants and was so nice!  Thanks everyone – the stay was great!!

Thanks my friends for reading and supporting the Pay it Forward mission.  What did YOU do this month to make a difference?  Please post on your page and link back so everyone can see that it takes everyone making a small part to do a great dent!

My buddy Nikitaland made up a good deeds sheet.  You can get it here.  You can print it, hang it on your fridge and just jot some things down that you do during the month.  That way at our next meet up, you can share what you have done to PAY IT FORWARD.

AND if you are interested in getting some Pay it Forward bracelets, check out Nikitaland’s post here for ordering information.  Believe me friends – WE CAN ALL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Next meet up will be Wednesday, April 1, 2015 – mark your calendars!

Date Night at the Movies

This past weekend my humans decided to venture to the cheap theaters to see the movie Ride Along starring Kevin Hart and Ice Cube.  It’s been out at the theaters for a while and mom and dad have been wanting to see it.  They told me about it when they got home.  It sounded like it was hilarious.  In fact, mommy said her tummy hurt where she had been laughing so much.

The movie takes place here in Atlanta, Georgia.  Mom and dad actually recognized a lot of the buildings which was cool.   Kevin Hart’s character is called Ben and he is currently a security guard dating Ice Cube’s character James’ sister Angela.  Got that?  James is a cop – a good decorated APD detective.  James doesn’t approve of Ben who wants to marry Angela.  Ben has been accepted into the academy and wants James blessing to marry his sister.

To prove that Ben can take care of Angela, James tells him to ride along with him for one day to see what he is made of to be with Angela.  James calls radio and tells them to give him all of the calls that will scare the heck out of Ben.  It *almost* works.  This ride along turns into a wild night with one of the most notorious criminals in the city.  It is so funny.  Mom and dad highly recommend it for some fun and chuckles.

But you know with my humans going out unchaperoned, there is going to be something that they do that makes me shake my piggy head.  Of course, something happened at the theater – snorts.

You see, mom always goes for the tub of popcorn – that’s my mommy!  Daddy always wants a little chocolate.  During the movie mommy tells daddy,  “Your Buncha Crunch just jumped in my popcorn”.   To which daddy replied, “No, your popcorn jumped into the my Buncha Crunch”.

Dad, I hate to tell you this but I think mommy is right.  Your Buncha Crunch jumped in her popcorn.  The proof is in the picture.  But hey guys, you don’t have to fight over this.  Just bring this little piggy home the bucket of delightful corn and box of Buncha Crunch.  I’ll take care of it for you.  🙂  Really, I will.20140515-113520.jpg

Do your humans do silly things like this?

Shopping Around the World

My friend Fozzie and I have scheduled a group posting today of Shopping Around the World.   We thought it would be interesting to see the differences between different countries all over.

Here are our prices for the following from our area – Georgia USA:

  • Loaf of bread – $1.00 on sale or $1.99 if not on sale
  • Gallon of milk – $3.09
  • Dozen eggs – $1.79
  • Gas per gallon – $3.61
  • Movie ticket – $1.50 at the cheap theater or $9.50 at the luxury theater (my mom/dad haven’t decided if the ‘cheap tickets’ are worth it.  Last time they went, they thought they were going to have to get the jaws of life to get them out of the seats made for children – snorts)
  • At the movies, how much are the concessions? – $20.00 easy – Bucket of popcorn/2 drinks (at either place – the cheaper theatre or the luxury theater).
  • McDonald’s cheeseburger – $1.00 for a plain one or $3.49 for the Big Mac
  • Jar of peanut butter – Store brand $1.88 for small jar or name brand $4.99 or higher!

Are you surprised at any of the prices above?  Do tell.

Future Mrs. Bacon –

The piggy of my dreams has a new movie coming out next year on March 21, 2014.  I’m sorry mom/dad.  You are just going to *have* to take me to the movies to see it when it debuts.  I’m thinking if we call ahead and make arrangements with the local theater, they will allow me in for the show.  Heck, I’ll start saving my money in my human bank until then to pay for my ticket.

Miss Piggy – the pig of my dreams – swoon!  Her new movie is called Muppets Most Wanted.  This movie is about the Muppets going on a global tour in Europe.  Somehow they find themselves entangled in a crime caper headed by Constantine – who is a dead ringer for Kermit.  Oh the atrocity!  Personally, they can have Kermit as long as I get the pig – Miss Piggy that is 🙂  But, it’s not fair of me to wish the frog harm so I won’t.  Taps hooves… thinks for a minute… asks for forgiveness… but I am the better pig – snorts.

So, here’s the preview for the new movie my sweet will be in.  Enjoy.  And Muppet peeps if you are listening, Miss Piggy needs more airtime please.  She is the *star* of the movie in my eyes.  Thank you.
