Journey with Friends

Welcome my friends to our weekly issue of Journey with Friends.  This is a time that we come together for support, for encouragement, for fellowship – all with one single goal in mind – to live better.  Welcome to our journey to share our goals and our accomplishments and our disappointments and frustrations.

Together we can do this!

Hello friends. I write this post from my bed. Some of you may know while others don’t about my current situation. I came home from work early last Thursday not feeling so well. I was aching and coughing – a cough I might add is from the depths of hell. I couldn’t sleep that night and was having difficulty breathing. About 6:30am on Friday, I told my husband we needed to go to emergency care because it was getting worse.

Once at the emergency room, they took me straight back and hooked me up to oxygen and started breathing treatments. They took blood, throat and nose cultures, gave me liquid codeine for my cough and gave me steroids. After my second breathing treatment, I started feeling a little better.

That is until the doctor finally came back with my test results – flu. And yes I did get a flu shot this year. The doctor explained that the flu strain they were seeing wasn’t what the flu shot had. Yay me huh?  The doctor wanted me to stay the night but where do you want to be when you’re sick?  Your own bed in your own home. So they did let me go sending me home with a breathing machine.  I’m also taking steroids and ibuprofen. I was instructed to be quarantined with strict bed rest.

I originally felt like a bus had hit me twice. Now I just feel like I’ve been hit once. The aches and pains are still present but the coughing seems to be getting better.

Thank you so much for all of those that sent prayers, healing vibes and cards. I really appreciated them so very much!

Thank You My Friends

Thank you for making my 31 Days of Spook last month a great month.

I hope you had as much fun reading my blogs as I did creating them… and I hope I didn’t scare you too bad.  I work year round in gathering different stories and fun facts to share. I really hope it showed.

As in years past, at the end of October I like to offer a badge for surviving my 31 Days of Spook.  I like to give a special shout out to my brother Easy and his staff across the pond for coming up with this year’s, “I Survived 31 Days of Spook 2015”.  I think this year’s badge really showcases my spooky October.  Please feel free to share this special badge on your blog.

And thank YOU for visiting my blog and being part of my 31 Days of Spook.  Now, I’m going to get some rest because you know what’s coming soon, right?  That evil Elf on the Shelf – shivers.  Is it that time already?

My Blog Anniversary!

Oh my friends.  Where does the time fly by so quickly?  Can you believe it’s been FOUR years since my first posting on October 9, 2011? One of my biggest accomplishments in this time – is meeting all of you my wonderful and cherished blogville friends from all over the world!  Your friendship means the world to this little oinker – it really does!  And what a great thing that my blog anniversary comes in my favorite month – during my 31 Days of Spook.

So I know this post isn’t about hauntings or spooks, things that go bump in the night or squeals, but is about you – my friends.  Thank YOU for all of your support, your friendship, your shoulders when I need them to cry on and for allowing me into your homes.  YOU mean the world to this little piggy.  Smooches!

Wiggle Your Toes Day

Journalist Rocky the Squirrel here –

Keeping my paws on the nuts of the world!

.

Friends – What a glorious day this is – Wiggle Your Toes Day!  Think about it – whether you have paws, toes, hooves or whatever, sometimes it just feels good to spread those toes and wiggle them.  Let those piggies loose (no offense Bacon).

Humans push their toes in shows or socks all day long.  They are always in a rush and sometimes forget to slow down.  Today, slow down!  Take those toes out of their confinements, wiggle them and let them breathe for a while.

Toes, hooves or paws come in all different sizes and shapes.  Have you wiggled your toes yet today?

Friendship Day

Journalist Rocky the Squirrel here –

Keeping my paws on the nuts of the world!

.

Who could ask for a better day?  The first Sunday of August is always Friendship Day.  Isn’t that a wonderful day to celebrate?  What is better than friends – whether they come in the human form or the animal form.  Friends are always there with us in good times and in bad times, to share special moments in our lives.  Sometimes all it takes is just a smile, holding a hand, a hug or just an ear or shoulder to cry on.

Friendship Day should be celebrated by phone, in person or by reaching out in an email or blog.  You don’t have to live next door to show someone how much you care.  Express your friendship in some way today and show the ones that you love what they mean to you.

NOTE FROM PIGLOVE –

We here at Piglove would like to tell all of our friends here how much we love and appreciate them.  You put up with our silliness, our sometimes seriousness (although it doesn’t happen often) and our whack-o ways.  We started Piglove as an outlet to share memories of Bacon… a cute little miniature pot bellied pig.  This blog has grown so much to include Houdini, Hemi, Mouse Girl (the purr things here at the Hotel Thompson) as well as Journalist Rocky the Squirrel and all of the rock clan.

You have helped me to personally grow and do something that I love, to write and make people laugh.  I would like to take this time on Friendship Day and tell each and everyone of you – Thank You for being our friends.  We cherish our times, our talks, our emails and phone calls.  We cherish your ‘go with this’ attitude when we come up with something whacky and new.  You can never imagine how much your friendship means to us.  Here’s to another year of great posting, inter-action with our friends and much laughter –  Bacon’s humans

International Day of Friendship

Journalist Rocky the Squirrel here –

Keeping my paws on the nuts of the world!

 .

Of all of the important holidays I can tell you about, today seems to be the most important in my book.  It is International Day of Friendship.  The world is filled with too much hate, too many wars, too much prejudice and way too many disagreements.  Today, we should put all of that aside and reach out to each other and say, “Hello friend happy friendship day!”

This is just not a backyard problem or a school playground problem.  This is a worldwide problem.  A problem that needs to come to an end.  Everyone has differences – we wouldn’t be individuals if we didn’t.  But when you look down to it, we all want to be happy and what better way than to get along.

Today let’s make friends with different people, different cultures and different countries.  Extend your hand – or an olive branch – and say hello friend.  Say hello to your neighbor, to the stranger at the market and say hello to a person that you see everyday but you don’t even know their name.  Today is the day to make a friend near and far.

To all of our friends, we at the Hotel Thompson would like to say thank you for being our friend – happy friendship day.  And to those that don’t know us yet, Happy Friendship Day.  May we get to know you better today and in the future!

Who will YOU say hello friend to today?

Giant THANK YOU

Oh my sweet friends.  Mommy wanted to take the moment to thank EVERYONE for such a wonderful birthday this year.  From all of the cards, the messages, phone calls and gifts – ya’ll rocked.  Mommy told me and daddy that this was the best birthday ever that she can remember.  And all of you my friends made it that way.

Special thanks to Nana who took mom out to dinner at a wonderful restaurant called Outback Steakhouse.  It was fantastic – so says mommy – not that this piggy would know because she didn’t bring me home anything… but it was her birthday so I’ll forgive her this time – snorts.

And special thanks to Shoki and Kali at Canadian Cats.  You know what your mom and dad did and she rocks!  You touched my mom’s heart more than you will ever know.  (And P.S.  I hope you are feeling better Kali ❤ )

Thanks to all of my friends for making mom’s day wonderful.  She has so many awesome memories!  Ya’ll are awesome!

Shout Out!!

Piggy Squeals!  Yesterday the mailman came to the door of the Hotel Thompson.  He said he had a package for me and he had to see me… of course he knows me and finds an excuse to see me when I have a package.  I came flying to the front door where he petted me and gave my box to my daddy.  Daddy said I had to wait until mommy got home to open it.

I thought mom would never get home but finally she did from the worky place.  She let me and dad open the package.  Squeals!!  Score for all of us here.  Do you see all of these delicious delights that we got?  Are you wondering from who and where the box came from?  Can you guess by looking at the picture?

It came from my buddies Samuel and Wallace in Johannesburg, South Africa!  Aren’t they the coolest?!  They sent a little cork board in the shape of South Africa – you can see it on the upper left hand side of the picture.  Mom put all of the chocolate in the fridge to harden back up.  The pupcorn – OMP! – me and my brother Houdini had some of that.  It is DELICIOUS!

Thank you my buddies.  I really, REALLY appreciate your thoughtfulness.  Ya’ll were so sweet to think about us here at the Hotel Thompson.  THANK YOU!

Renovation Reveal Party!

Welcome to the Renovation Reveal Party for the Hotel Thompson or as my cousin called it the Casa Thompson!  My buddy Fozzie is going to co-host this party.  To get things started, please enjoy some wine, soda and some snacks.  Then sit back for the reveal and let us know what you think.  If you have questions, ask.  Mingle and have fun my dear friends!!

The following food was brought by Kali and Shoko of Canadian Cats.  Everyone be sure to try some of these Canadian delicacies.  I’m licking my lips now and fixing to jump in – YUMMO!

Poutine – French fries with gravy and cheese – how could you go wrong with this?  Beaver Tails – Now Beatrice and Billy were not harmed in the making of this sweet treat – 🙂  Beaver Tails are pastries shaped like beaver tails with chocolate and banana or chocolate and M&M’s.  Personally this little porker NEEDS one with banana and chocolate.  Nanaimo Bars – These are named after a city in Vancouver Island.  They have three layers of deliciousness – coconut, graham cracker crumbs, chocolate and custard.

Okay my friends – do you remember the ‘before’ pictures?  Let me remind you what they looked like okay.

The front room was a cluttered mess as well as the kitchen area.  It was definitely time to ‘grow up’ and get a new look.  Below are now the ‘after’ pictures.

The entry way into the Casa Thompson.  The new sofa.  The new chaise – ❤

The overall front room view from the hallway.  The new kitchen island.  The new cedar flooring in the bathroom.

 **SPECIAL THANKS**

Thanks to my friend Jean with Canadian Cats (Shoko and Kali) for the beautiful virtual potted plant for the new Casa Thompson.  It’s beautiful!  And thank you my friends for bringing food to the party – I’m still licking my lips!  And many thanks for the long phone calls, listening to me whine while drinking my wine 🙂

Thanks to my brother Easy and his mom for listening to my mom’s troubled woes during the ordeal – snorts – there were a LOT.  Your emails kept her sane… well okay as sane as she could be.

Thanks for my great co-host and partner in crime Fozzie.  You mean the world to us my sweet dear friend.  The phone calls, the emails, the rants and raves.

Much love to all of YOU and to those that listened to the endless ramblings here in blogville about the renovation.  We were so glad that we could share everything with all of you my dear friends!!
