31 Days of Spook – Texts from the Grave

Shivers.  Do you text on your cell phone?  Well, this is the story for you my friends.

You see, for the past three years, a woman along with her father and uncle have been sending text messages to a deceased family member in order to deal with the grief.  The loved one died from cancer and was buried with her beloved cell phone.  When she was alive, she would often text her love ones throughout the day.

You can imagine the shock to the family when they started receiving texts back from their deceased loved one beyond the grave.  One of the texts read, “I’m watching over you and it’s all going to bet better.  Just pull through.”

Can you imagine the shock, the disbelief and then the miracle of what happened.  The family was told that their loved ones number would never be given to anyone else.  What in the world was taking place?  Just for this moment, it was like they were texting again in the family.

Later it was discovered that the number had been reassigned to someone else who was unrelated to the family.  He had been receiving text messages from the family that showed their grief.  He thought he would reply to help them.

Mom is in Jury Duty This Week

Poor mom. She’s in jury duty this week. She says a lot of people get called and try to get out of it. Although she would love to get out of it, she does know that it’s an important rite and freedom to serve. She’s good with that. The bad thing is that she never gets picked to serve on a trial. This will be her fourth time getting called.

She reported yesterday. She  said the security check point she had to go to was worse than Ft Knox. Then after that line, she had to wait in another line to check in with the jury room. Four groups got called as potential jurors yesterday. Mom didn’t get picked for any of them so she waited…and waited…and waited.

But she came prepared. She read her book. She played games on her cell phone. And of course she text me when she was bored. So today she will be there again. In fact, she’s probably sitting there now waiting. And waiting.

PS. Mom says that the snack machine in the jury room needs to be like the one above. Maybe that way everyone can make it through the day of you know waiting. Snorts.

 

How I Got Back on Mom’s Good Side

Just imagine you are on a date with your spouse and then your cell phone goes off with a text message.  You know by the sound of the ring that it’s from one of your kids.  You go to look at it and WOW – it’s a text from ME – Bacon.  Who could stay mad at this little oinker for long?  Especially when I’m giving you a heads up about free coffee!  Mommy is a sucker for coffee.

After mom and dad’s date they did go to Dunkin Donuts.  Mommy didn’t get the free coffee.  She got the pumpkin white chocolate latte.  She said it was delicious.  I wouldn’t know because she didn’t give me a taste of it… BUT, she did bring me some donut holes. 🙂

So, that is how you get back on mommy’s good list.  She drunk her coffee while I was in her lap getting snuggles.  Everything is back to being good at the Hotel Thompson.

Oh, and what?  Doesn’t every pig have an iPhone?  It’s only the 3G that mom used to have but it still works for these emergency type situations – snorts.
