Are You Ready for Some Bowl Games??

First off, let’s talk about the most important bowl game today – Puppy Bowl. The show starts promptly at 3PM on the Animal Planet.  If you’ve never seen the Puppy Bowl, you really need to watch it today.  It is totally awesome and keeps me busy cheering for hours.  Daddy has his game later today (which I’ll tell you about in a minute) and I have my game with the Puppy Bowl.

And don’t think that the Puppy Bowl is just about a lot of puppies on the screen doing nothing.  There’s actually a referee, puppy touchdowns, penalties, timeouts and substitutions.  That’s right – it’s a Puppy Bowl to see!

The rules are easy.  Puppies go on the field and when a puppy drags one of the football shaped toys into the end zone, a puppy touchdown is declared.  If a puppy has an accident on the field by ‘going to the bathroom’, a penalty is called.  If the water bowls need to be refilled or puppies get into a fight, timeouts are called.  And, you know what they call it when the puppies get into squabbles?  Unnecessary rrruuufffness.  Snorts.  And if the puppies fall asleep, substitutions are sent in to play.

Over the years, they’ve had different ‘cheerleaders’.  In the past, I’ve seen hedgehogs, bunny cheerleaders, chicken cheerleaders and my favorite in 2012 was the Piggy Pep Squad.  Personally, I think they need to bring the Piggy Pep Squad back.  I would *so* want to try out  for the team.  I think I have what it takes.  I have the look.  I have the chemistry.  I have the personality.  I can dance.

But if the Puppy Bowl doesn’t it do it for you, you can always wait for dad’s game later today at 6:30PM.  THE Super Bowl.  Two really good teams will be going head to head – New England Patriots vs Philadelphia Eagles.

And don’t forget the half time show on the Super Bowl either.  This year they are going to have Justin Timberlake performing.

And the other thing about the Super Bowl, you *have* to watch the commercials.  They are usually the most hilarious commercials to remember for the night.  So my friends, get your snacks and drinks ready.  Go to the potty early so you can enjoy all of the fun today.  Get comfy on the couch.  I’m going to be watching the shows all day long.  And hopefully, mom will pop me some popcorn.

Are you ready for some football!?

Dear Bacon

img_5513

Dear Bacon  – So I need advice. My mommy and daddy work a lot and I am at home alone. It gets boring sometimes and lonely i just want to be with mommy. What should I do while mommy is at work.  This is my mommy in the picture – isn’t she beautiful?  Signed Icess

Dear Icess – AAWW she is beautiful just like you my sweet friend!  You know just a couple of thoughts your way.  One is that your mom can leave her sleep top for you to snuggle on throughout the day.  That way you can ‘smell’ mom and feel comforted.  Second is television.  I love my television.  I keep it on all of the time watching the Animal Planet.  That would give you a lot of company as well.  And you can redecorate the living room.  I’ve seen Houdini here do that to the pillows on our couch.  Just don’t destroy them like Houdini has done – that’s another post for another time – snorts.  I hope this helps my sweet friend.  Hogs and snout kisses.

Dear Bacon – Sometimes one just needs to stretch out with the sun rays on their body and take a siesta.  It doesn’t matter where you are – when it hits – IT HITS.  Signed Felix.

Dear Felix – You are so very right my friend.  When it hits, it does hit.  I’ve been there as well as other anipals here on the blog.  Another great place to fall asleep is on your human.  Do you know they will not move until you wake up?  Now to me, that’s deep love!

Dear Bacon – Sometimes the only place you can find quiet in the entire home is the bathroom.  Isn’t that where the humans go for their quiet time?  I know they can be in there for what seems like hours.  Sometimes I hear mom asking my dad is he taking up residency in there.  So with that in mind, I thought I would try it out for a nap.  You know what?  It was awesome!  Nobody bothered me for almost an hour.  Talk about a power nap.  Where’s your favorite place to nap?  Signed Sinkpus

Dear Sinkpus – Oh my piggy heavens!  I’m so going to have to remember this.  I don’t think I could make it up to the sink but behind the pedestal sink would be ideal.  No one would ever think to look for me there.  Thanks my friend for the ideal – Happy Sleeps

Dear Bacon – What?  There’s nothing to see here friend.  Just a dog tucked in to bed for the night.  Doesn’t everyone sleep this way?  Signed Nighty

Dear Nighty – Hey, I have no problems my friend.  I sleep like that all of the time in my toddler friend.  Nope, nothing to see.  Us anipals need to be comfy too in their homes.  Sleep on and sweet dreams of running through fields of flowers 🙂

Dear Bacon –  Here I am – Here I am – Throw the Ball.  I’m just trying to show Cam Newton how to couch the football – meows with evil laughter.  You know how to have fun with the game and be a good loser.  I’m not sure if he knows what that is all about.    Signed Fig

Dear Fig – There are so many places I could go with this but I won’t.  I will be nice and kind.  And if Mr. Newton is reading this – please take notes.  One needs to use the help of others, be nice and have fun with the game.  AND always remember, even if you lose a game – be the bigger person and take notes for what to do better next time.  Don’t sulk and have temper tantrums.  I’m just sayin’.

Dear Bacon – I tried.  I really did.  I ate and then I couldn’t move anymore.  See, I’m just a little puppy.  I play hard.  I eat hard.  And I also sleep hard.  Hold me.  Signed Tuck

Dear Tuck – Oh my little friend.  Squeals with cuteness overload.  Sometimes you just can’t take anymore.  I know.  I’ve been known to do that as well.  And also Houdini – rolls piggy eyes.  That little guy also does the same all.of.the.time.  You were tuckered out Tuck.  Your tummy was nice and warm and full.  I just want to pet it looking at your picture.  All you needed was for your mommy to come pick you up and rock you while you sleep.  Don’t worry – you will grow out of this.  Take care Tuck.

REMEMBER MY FRIENDS – Dear Bacon can not happen without YOU.  Please keep sending me your pictures and letters to my email.

Dear Bacon

Dear Bacon – Oh dude!  What a game that Super Bowl was over the weekend.  OMD!  I dressed up in a disguise – you know like from the Super Bowl commercial – and was able to get a ticket to see football up front and personal.  Cats against horses – you know those Broncos were going to win – Go Peyton Manning!  What did you think of the game bro?  Signed Mr. Waddles

Dear Mr. Waddles – Love your disguise.  I can see how you got in to see the game in person.  And what a game it was!  I was sitting on the edge of my chaise the entire night rooting for the Broncos.  I’m not sure who was happier – me or dad when they won!  Heck, I jumped on the internet and went ahead and bought dad a Super Bowl 50 Bronco hat – of course with his credit card – snorts with piggy laughter.

Dear Bacon – Dude, you have never experienced life until you stretch out in a hammock and just relax the day away.  In fact, I think your humans should buy you a piggy hammock.  I bet you would enjoy it.  Signed Swinger

Dear Swinger – WOW – you do look really comfy there my friend.  I’m thinking that this Spring/Summer here at the Hotel Thompson, mom/dad might just need to get me a hammock for my magical backyard.  They can put it on the back deck so I can over look new discoveries.  Thanks for the heads up my friend.  Keep on swinging!

Dear Bacon – I think I partied way too much during the Super Bowl game.  I remember eating some snacks.  I remember chugging some beer after playing beer pong.  That’s it.  Afterwards, the next morning I woke up with a cold one still in my paws.  Shaking my doggy head – I gotta quit partying like this.  Signed Born to be Wild

Dear Born to be Wild – Dude, when you stop remembering your actions from the night before, it’s way past time to stop drinking.  Just be lucky you didn’t wake up with someone else in your bed.  Oh my – can you imagine that?  Shaking my piggy head.  Safety first my friend.  You might need to reach out to DAA (Doggy Alcoholics Anonymous).  I’m sure they can help you.

Dear Bacon – OMD OMD OMD.  Sometimes this little red light laser thingy gets the cats going on here at my crib.  But tonight, that crazy red light kept popping up on the ceiling in my kitchen.  I couldn’t have that unidentified red light breaching my food.  So I did what any dog would do, I jumped up at it to catch and destroy the red light.  I must have caught it because it went away.  Have you ever seen this red light?  Signed White Dogs Can Jump

Dear White Dogs Can Jump – Look at you my friend!  I’d say you took care of that red dot.  I’ve seen it before too here at the Hotel Thompson.  It’s very mysterious when it shows up and then disappears for what seems like weeks.  Do you think it’s an alien trying to impersonate us anipals?  It’s so weird!

Dear Bacon –  A gal can only take so much from her man.  Mr. Endless Nagging kept going on and on about such nonsense – I couldn’t take it anymore and lost myself in the moment.  I don’t think he will bother me for a while – do you?  Signed That’ll Teach You

Dear That’ll Teach You – Heck woman – it taught me not to nag you – snorts with piggy laughter.  Whatever happened to if you can’t say something nice, don’t say anything at all?  Cause, trust me your man needs to learn that little tidbit of information.  And hey – you got a great right by the looks of it.

REMEMBER MY FRIENDS – Dear Bacon can’t happen without YOU.  Remember to send me your letters and pictures to my email.

Journey with Friends

Welcome my friends to our weekly issue of Journey with Friends.  This is a time that we come together for support, for encouragement, for fellowship – all with one single goal in mind – to live better.  Welcome to our journey to share our goals and our accomplishments and our disappointments and frustrations.

Together we can do this!

So friends how did you do this week?  Did you have a good week?  I was down 2 pounds – I’ll take that any week.  Little pounds add up to big pounds and slow wins the race here.  I type this watching the Super Bowl and I can tell you a couple of things.  First – Way to go BRONCOS!  I’m so excited that they won – it was a great game.  Half time wasn’t that bad – I was okay with that.  I’ve seen better and I’ve seen worse.  The commercials – my favorite was the singing goats.  Hilarious.  And what better way to end the weekend – I’m sick.  The hub unit came down with something on Friday night and I think he shared – bad husband.  Chills – cold then hot – sometimes both.  Sweats – runny nose – sneezy.  Yuck and muck.  So with 2 pounds being gone last week – 🙂 I’m happy

So how did YOU do my friends?

Favorite Super Bowl 2014 Commercial

Before we go ahead with *the* Super Bowl, let’s talk about the Puppy Bowl.  What a game!  Awesome half time with Keyboard Kitty.  Awesome penguin cheerleaders.  BOTH teams came to play – snorts – unlike *the* Super Bowl.  And I loved the part where it showed the forever homes for the previous game players.  Excellent Puppy Bowl X.

Now about the Super Bowl.  The Super Bowl last night was the Seahawks vs Broncos.  Let’s not talk about the game.  Puts my little piggy head down in disgust.  I was rooting for the Broncos.  It’s like they didn’t even show up!

Since the game was over before it started – snorts, I concentrated on the commercials and the half time show.  Let’s talk about the half time show first.  It rocked.  I love me some Bruno Mars.  The Red Hot Chili Peppers not so much.  Maybe it was the one song they played – shrugs pig shoulders – not sure.  But Bruno kicked it – literally.  That guy has some foot movement!  It was great – probably one of the best I’ve seen in my 2.5 years – snorts.

Now, the commercials.  There were lots of commercials to review.  Some I absolutely loved and some I hated with a piggy passion.  My top were (in no particular order):

Ellen Degeneres playing Little Red Riding Hood.  Did you see the piggies in the commercial? Squeal!  You just know when she gets to condo with the bears they are going to huff and puff and blow her down – oops wrong Fairy Tale – snorts.

Then Pappa Bear says, “Play it” and they all break out dancing.  That was a hoot.  We all laughed at this one at the Hotel Thompson.

.

Then there was the Audi commercial about ‘no compromises’ where two people are at the adoption agency. One wants a Doberman and the other wants a Chihuahua thus they compromise on a mixture of the two.  Thus you get the Doberhuaha.

I have to admit that we laughed at the Doberhuaha.  It reminded me of Scrappy from Scooby Doo.  You see it now?  Snorts.

.

The VW commercial.  OMP (oh my pig).  Snorts.  It’s hard for me to even type this because I’m snorting so hard.  VW turns 100,000 miles and when it does the people that make the cars get their ‘wings’.  That’s what the dad tells his daughter in the car.  The daughter is like yeah right and says, “And I guess at 200,000 miles they fart the rainbow?”  AND it starts to show them farting rainbows.  Okay maybe I don’t have it verbatim but it was hilarious!  I looked at daddy and said, “How much mileage you got old man?”  Snorts

.

My favorite commercial the entire night at the Hotel Thompson was for the new Butterfinger Peanut Butter cups – which might I add are AWESOME!  Peanut butter and Chocolate are in therapy and Butterfinger shows up to the couch.

This commercial is freaking hilarious.  You have to watch it – it’s so funny.  And the new Butterfinger Peanut Butter cups – thud – mom/dad down.  They tried one and they LOVE IT.  Mom gave me a small taste and I do mean small.  It’s like a peanut butter cup BUT the filling is butterfinger.  It’s the perfect combination.

So what was your favorite commercial from last night?  Thoughts on those or the game of the Puppy Bowl?

Super Bowl – Are You Ready?

Are you ready for some football? The Super Bowl is like the big game of the year. It’s the icing on the cake. It’s the whole enchilada. Its the cherry on top of the sundae. It’s the big game. Do you understand? It’s like me getting a bedtime treat of apples, bananas and strawberries all at the same time. Shivers…give me a moment.

Okay…I’m back. So the Super Bowl will be hosted in New Orleans, Louisiana. I have relatives in Louisiana. My Aunt Tina, Uncle Wayne and my cousins Savannah, Maverick and Sherlock Bones.
The big game will be between The Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers.

20130202-114824.jpg

The game should be exciting because of the football but there’s also a twist in the Super Bowl. Ravens coach John Harbaugh is the brother to the 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh. Neat huh? What are the chances that would happen? One way or the other, a Harbaugh is going to win and bring home the championship.

Halftime festivities will be performed by the glamorous Beyonce. I know there are some of us that watch the Super Bowl for the game. But, there are others that watch it for the halftime performance and the new awesome commercials. I like it all – especially the snack foods that come with the game. That’s probably my favorite – snort.

20130202-121853.jpg

And let’s not forget the puppy bowl that will be on the Animal Planet. The puppy bowl is simple. Ten puppies at a time play on the field that is three yards wide by six yards long. When a pup drags one of the chew toys into either end zone, a score is recorded. And while they don’t get any breaks for sports drinks, they can re-hydrate with a water bowl on the 10-yard line. In the end, one dog is crowned MVP (Most Valuable Puppy), but really everyone wins. There will be a complimentary kitten half time show. I think next year we need to request pigs on this show… I can entertain.

There’s your Sunday highlights. What will you be watching? Hogs and kisses – Bacon
