I’ve Created a New Season – Happy Sprinter

This picture is from Wikipedia.  It shows the typical seasons – Spring, Summer, Fall and then Winter.  That’s the way it’s suppose to fall.  But this year, dear old Mother Nature is not playing fairly.  Mommy says she needs hormone shots and daddy says she needs more dates with Father Time.  I’m not sure which one is right.  I just know that maybe she needs a kick in the butt.  Yep, I said.  I kick right smack in the middle of her captains quarters.

You see, this weekend is what I’m talking about.  Saturday here at the Hotel Thompson we get up and it is beautiful.  There’s no other way to put it.  The birds are chirping (and that’s a story for another time – snorts), the sun is out, the wind is just right and the temperatures are in the 60’s.  You couldn’t ask for a more gorgeous day.  Mom and me went out to wash her Smart car Albert.  It only took less than five minutes by throwing a cup of water at it – snorts.  I kill myself.

20140112-143627.jpg

Our neighbor Big Daddy had cut our yard and the back yard was spectacular.  Thanks Big Daddy!  We went out there and ran for a while.  Mommy says it was for me to get some sun and I said I understood.  Secretly I knew she wanted me to run some excess Winter weight off so I would sleep more deeply tonight.  I’m good with that.  I just wonder why she didn’t make daddy do the same.  Double snorts.

It was a wonderful day.  Lots of running, loving and snuggles.

Then BAM!  What a change Sunday.  Sunday brought us rain, cool weather and strong winds.  We could actually sit inside and hear the winds!  We all got up and had breakfast together.  It was so damp and yuck outside that after breakfast, we all went back to bed.  Now, I’m not hating days like this because usually, like this day, when we go back to bed we all get on the Select Comfort for a siesta.  It was great.

Picture this.  A king sized Select Comfort bed with two humans, two purr things and a piggy.  Snorts, I’m a 65 with mommy on the Select Comfort.  Daddy and the purr things are a 100.  That’s just too hard for this little oinker.  When we got up from our nap, it was still yuck outside.

Now, I’m telling you all of this for a reason.  It’s suppose to be Spring but it still acts like Winter.  I’m suggesting a new season called – Sprinter.  You get it?  Spring with Winter.  So sometime today, tell someone Happy Sprinter.  Then smile and remember my little story here.  🙂

Happy Sprinter my pals!

Spring is Around the Corner

20130319-083317.jpgI think this says “EVERYTHING” about what I’m feeling – spring is near and around the corner.

I SO CAN’T WAIT!!  It’s time for this little piggy to come out of some hibernation and start moving again.  I miss the days of running throughout the Hotel Thompson and chasing playing with the purr things.  I just know they’ve missed me too.

And with Spring – you know what else comes – all the wonderful fruits of the season.  Oh, it makes my little mouth water so much.

Is everybody with me on this Spring thing??

XOXO – Bacon

Mother Nature Where Art Thou?

Someone forgot to upload Spring in the Earth.  Help please.  It’s raining here.  It’s cold again.

Spring where are you?

Dear Bacon

20140717-070531-25531580.jpg Dear Bacon – This cold.  This awful weather outside.  This snow and ice.  Make.it.go.away.  I’m so ready for Spring.  I go outside to do my business and I just can’t wait to get back inside to the heat.  Help.  Signed Passed Out Frozen

Dear Passed Out Frozen –  Soon my little friend, very soon.  I can almost smell Spring.  I can hear the birds.  I can see the flowers starting to come out to play.  Hang in there little guy – it will be here soon.  I can feel it in my piggy bones!

20140717-070532-25532037.jpg

Dear Bacon –  I think we got it wrong.  See, we heard two fisherman talking about French kissing.  They were describing it but I don’t think this what they meant.  Do you?  Signed Frenchie

Dear Frenchie –  Okay my friends I had to ask daddy about this one because I had no clue as well.  Daddy said that it may feel like you are swallowing the other one’s head if you don’t do it right.  It’s more tongue action and less swallowing the head of your loved one.  He kind of lost me after that.  It sounded gross.  Then I heard mom laughing at me because I said it was gross.  Rolls piggy eyes.  Humans are so weird.  Just stay with regular kissing – best of luck!

20140717-070531-25531807.jpg

Dear Bacon –  Our human, he is weird.  He thought it “would be so neat” to put our food in the middle of the pool full of water.  Really human?  This is funny?  Really?  Bacon you gotta help us to get even.  Signed Pissed Off

Dear Pissed Off –  What in the world?!  This means WAR my friends.  Do you hear me – W.A.R.  Here’s what you do.  There’s this fluffy white stuff the humans *have* to have in their litter box they call the bathroom.  Gather it all.  Every single last roll of the fluffy stuff.  Then take it out back in the back yard and throw it in the pool with all of the water.  Evil snorts.  That’ll get them where it hurts.  Trust me on this.

20140717-070530-25530972.jpg

Dear Bacon –  True love always finds a way.  Whether it is across the world, the next state, the next city or the next stall.  We are firm believers.  Signed Love for Two

Dear Love for Two –  That is so very sweet and special my friend.  As I read it, rain of joyous tears came down my snout.  So sweet – keep it alive my friends.

20140717-070531-25531345.jpg

Dear Bacon – I’m keeping an eye on my brother.  I just left him something and he should smell it in 3, 2, 1 – Barks with laughter.  Signed SBD

Dear SBD – Oh dear piggy heavens.  Don’t tell me SBD as in Silent But Deadly.  Drops piggy head and shakes it.  There’s always one in the group.  WOW!  It never gets old hearing about farts – snorts.

REMEMBER FRIENDS – We can’t have Dear Bacon issues without YOU.  Keep your pictures and questions coming to me via email 🙂

Spring Forward

Don’t forget!  Tonight before you go to bed, you need to ‘spring’ forward your clocks one hour for the start of daylight savings time.  Springing forward kind of stinks because I’m going to lose an hour of mommy time this weekend.  Then again on the other hoof, it means that Spring is almost here and that’s my kind of season.  I’m all for that!

Don’t forget my friends!

Come Here Spring!

Dearest Mother Nature – Really?  This weather you are throwing at us is outrageous.  One day it’s in the 70’s and the next day it’s in the 30’s.  Daddy says you are going through – what did he call it? – menopause.  He says that’s the only way to explain the vast difference in temperatures.  I can’t tell you what mommy called it – it was a bad word.

Yesterday here it was beautiful.  It was the first day it hasn’t rained.  Which by the way it has rained so much that I think I’m sprouting feathers and quacking now instead of oinking.  Today when mom went to work, it was so dark I thought it was night.  Nope, it was the same time that she usually leaves.  It was dark because it looked like the sky was fixing to fall out with thunderstorms.  Lovely.

And let me tell you about Albert, mom’s Smart car.  Mommy has not driven him in 8 days.  Why?  Because with your winds, your rain, your up and down temperatures, dad thought mom would be safer in Tank, the other car.  So you see now Mother Nature you are ticking off Albert.  He wants to run and he can’t.

You know there are medicines that you can take for these mood swings.  If they don’t help, maybe you need to see a professional instead of taking this out on everyone in the world.  I’m just sayin’.

Happy Groundhog Day!!

Journalist Rocky the Squirrel here –

“Keeping my paws on the nuts of the world!”

.

.

Today, February 2nd is Groundhog Day.    According to folklore, there are two options that could happen today:

  • If it’s cloudy when the groundhog emerges and he doesn’t see his shadow, then spring will be right around the corner; but
  • If it’s sunny when the groundhog emerges, he does *see* his shadow and retreats back into his burrow, then winter will continue for six more weeks.

The largest groundhog day celebration takes place every year in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania.

Personally, I hope that spring is right around the corner.  I could go for some warmer weather here at the Hotel Thompson.  And I know that oinker Bacon would enjoy it.

Good luck on whatever you want.   I’ll be back soon!

Mom and Dad’s New Game – Answers

Hey my friends – today I’m giving you the answers from mom and dad’s new game that I posted about yesterday.  Remember, I showed you a picture to guess but did not give you any clues like how many letters or words the answer was.  My deviled Ham side came out to play – snorts. The answer are posted below – how many did you get right?  Remember these are the game answers and the game’s way of thinking.  Should be interesting.

EXAMPLE

You have to put on your thinking cap and really look at the pictures.  By looking at this picture to the left, you see a man, a boat and a tiger.  The conclusion:  Life of Pi

Does that blow your mind?  Now figure out these –

.

Picture 1 –  IMG_0186.JPG

By looking at the nail and the manicure, you are suppose to get beauty.  The lady has a crown so she is a Queen.

The answer – beauty queen.

.

.

IMG_0188.JPG

                   Picture 2 –

This one took mom and dad a bit to figure out.  The number 10 means perfect in this illustration.  The umbrella with the rain means storm.

The answer – Perfect Storm

.

IMG_0190.JPG

Picture 3 –

A house – that’s kind of obvious however the tree throws you a bit.  The illustration of a woman in a wedding dress means wife.

The answer – housewife

.

IMG_0192.JPG

 Picture 4 –

Candy is obvious as well as apple.

The answer – Candy Apple

.

Picture 5 –IMG_0199.JPG

This one is one of the more simple ones.  There’s a piggy – yay me – snorts.  Then there’s a bag of money.

The answer – Piggy Bank

.

IMG_0193.JPG

Picture 6 –

This is one that really blew mom and dad’s mind.  It’s deep.  You have to really look at the pictures.  A snowflake, the sun, the leaves – and then you shake your head in confusion huh?

The answer – Four Seasons

.

IMG_0195.JPG

 Picture 7

Another one that requires a little thinking.  There’s a cat, a dog and a horse with a world looking image. What could it be.  Oh – now it’s obvious –

The answer – Animal Planet

 .

 IMG_0194.JPGPicture 8

I leave you with another one that your probable got right.  A snake and a set of eyes.

The answer – Snake Eyes

You Know What They Say…

Do you know what they say about the grass is always greener on the other side?  Or here’s another one – be careful what you wish for?  Yeah, I think I stepped four hooves right into this problem.  I wanted Spring.  Spring is here.  The weather is warmer than Winter… there’s a nice breeze outside… the birds are chirping… the grass is green.  What could be wrong you ask?

One word.

Yep, that six lettered dirty word – POLLEN.  In the south, it’s bad.  I mean really bad.  Today’s forecast:

Total Pollen Count for 4/11/2014: 4054

That’s really high.  That means everything is yellow… or like mom calls it pollinated.   The itchy, watery eyes.  The sneezing.  The can’t breathe because your throat is full of pollen.  And, you can taste it.  Really, you can.  Who wants to go outside and roll around in the grass with all of this out there?  Perhaps I should have been more specific with Mother Nature about Spring?  Daddy has to wear a mask outside when he ventures out.  Between us – he kind of looks like a human wearing a snout – snorts.  And snouts – I’m not going out in my magical backyard until this pollen goes away.  I don’t care how much the unicorn and bigfoot plead for to come play.

Do you have pollen?  Are you a sufferer?  They say it will last for a couple of weeks until everything ‘blooms’.  Until then, welcome to Sprinollen… yep that’s what I’m going to call it.

The *Best* Sign I’ve Seen for Spring

OMP (oh my pig!)  This is too funny.  I’m hoping that sprinter (combination of spring and winter) is almost over.  I saw this sign and couldn’t resist.  I squealed and rolling around laughing so much that mom thought I was having a seizure.  Daddy was ready to call 911 and tell them that we had a piggy down here at the Hotel Thompson.  Aren’t they just too funny – snorts.

So, are ya’ll so excited that you can wet your plants?  PLOL (piggy laughing out loud). 20140330-184003.jpg
