Paw Time with Houdini

Oh my friends – what a week!  We’ve all been trying to get mommy feeling better here at the Hotel Thompson.  I think she is *finally* getting there.  This weekend, there are no plans for any marathon errand runs…. well maybe there is one errand to be completed.  Mom has been on mission to find me a new groomer.  Someone that can do me more often than every other month and doesn’t cost a kidney.  It’s been hard work!  I’ve seen her searching and looking.  In fact, her and dad even brought me somewhere this week and walked right back out of the place.  Mom picked up bad vibes and of course she goes with them.  Has your human ever done that?

Well, she found me a place.  She called the business and immediately hit it off with the owner – they talked for over 15 minutes about me.  I have an appointment to see them tomorrow for the ‘works’.  Happy Spa Day to me huh?   Of course, the first trip costs the most but after that every month will be half to stay on the maintenance plan.  Mom likes that.  And of course, I kind of do too for the Spa treatment 🙂  I’ll keep you posted on the progress of my new place.

Also this week, I want to let you know that mom has been cooking more here at the Hotel Thompson.  She finally realized that the big hot box on the floor is not a paperweight but a real cooking appliance called the oven… okay those were daddy’s words – barks.  One day this week, she made home made Chinese noodles with veggies and meat.  And I’ll tell you my friends, it was super good.  How do I know?  Because mom fed me with chopsticks.  You don’t believe me?  Look at the pictures below.  Mom would click them together and I would immediately open my mouth.  Spoiled much?  Barks!  Of course now.

Paw Time with Houdini

Welcome my friends to another week with Paw Time with Houdini.  Last weekend, Nana got a new puppy named Dingo.  He’s a shepherd mix.  Very cool to have a bigger uncle.  I say bigger because this guy is bigger than my brother Bacon.  Can you believe that?  Well, he’s taller and has LONG legs like a giraffe.  Okay, maybe not as long as a giraffe but they are super LONG.

Mommy took me up to see Dingo in a meet/greet session.  You know so we could get used to being around each other.  This picture to the right is of Dingo when mommy came in to Nana’s house.  Mom says he had kind of a “what the heck is that thing in your arms” kind of look.  She wanted to make sure Dingo knew I was a friend and not a two piece snack.

So mommy sat down with me in her arms and we all had a conversation together.  Mommy introduced us to each other and told Dingo we were all family.  We don’t hurt family.  Mommy then explained that I come up from my house every once in a while to spend time with Nana.  And although Dingo had the job of keeping Nana company and protecting her now, I still have a job too.  We all have to do our parts.  Mommy then let us say hello and sniff at each other for a bit while I still sat in her arms.

Then she put me down and of course I jumped over to the other couch where dad was sitting.  Dingo came up to me and I said a few words to him to let him know I was welcoming him to the family.  I also told him that I had plenty of toys up here at Nana’s and he was welcomed to play with any of them.  I also told him that we had a big back yard down at the Hotel Thompson and he could come down and play with me from time to time too.  And, that we could go on walkies around the neighborhood together.  He couldn’t fit into my stroller but he could walk beside me and protect from other dogs – that was part of his job now.  I think he understood everything I was telling him.  Especially about the part of taking care of Nana.

Then he told me that he would take care of things up here at Nana’s and that I didn’t have to worry about that.  He also told me that he would protect me because he said I would look like shark bait walking the streets by myself.  We exchanged cell numbers and told each other we would Facetime each other to keep each other posted on what was going on with each side of the neighborhood.

I have to say that I think he’s a pretty cool guy.  He still has a lot of puppy in him he said – he’s only 4 months – so that makes me the oldest by 6 months.  I think we will both have a long time of growing up together and playing.

I told him I would be up on Tuesday.  That was our scheduled spa day and he would absolutely love spa day.  We get the works then when the groomer comes out and makes us all pretty for our humans.  Humans love that.

Well my friends, I hope you had a great time visiting with me this week.  Until next time, have an awesome weekend!

Mouse Girl – A Story of Kitty Spa

There comes a time in every little purr things life that she has to go to what mom refers to as the “Kitty Spa”.  I find this totally fascinating.  Mouse Girl, the purr thing here at the Hotel Thompson, is a girly girl.  We all know that.  Mommy washes me and the other purr thing here, Hemi, with no problems.  But, mommy says that Mouse Girl is different.  How so?!

Well, it might have to do with Mouse Girl being a Maine Coon kitty.  If you didn’t know, Maine Coon kitties are big… like really big.  Mouse Girl is almost the same size as moi.  Does that tell you anything in size?  And, it might have to do something with the fact that mom tells daddy that Mouse Girl has a  wicked back kick?  Apparently Mouse Girl thought to bring out some of her ninja skills this weekend when mom attempted to bathe her in the kitchen sink.  When I tell you that the kick took mom’s breathe away, it’s not just something that I’m saying.  Mouse Girl literally back kicked mommy in the chest.  After daddy stopped laughing, mom kicked daddy in the ankle to show him how it felt.  Yeah, my humans are weird like that.

So, back to the size of Mouse Girl.  If you ever came into the Hotel Thompson, you would never see her.  She’s not overly friendly with people that she doesn’t know.  I think it all stems from her days at the shelter.  You see mom/dad adopted her from a shelter.  They went to look for a kitty friend for Hemi after his brother Tybee passed away. (Both of them were also adopted from the shelter.)  When they were looking at the kitties, Mouse Girl *picked* mommy and daddy and decided she was coming home with them that day to her forever home.  That’s how she came to be with us here at the Hotel Thompson.

A lot of people that visit the Hotel Thompson, don’t even know she’s here.  But I got a great picture of her this weekend.  She’s a big kitty – a handful I might add.  Mommy thought well if she wouldn’t let her groom her, she would take her to the kitty spa.

So, let me get this straight.  She back kicks mom, won’t let her groom her so she gets awarded by going to the kitty spa?  Mom, what are you thinking?  I just shook my piggy head in disbelief.  Hemi was the same way.  It just goes to figure since Mouse Girl is such a girlie girl.

I have to ask.  Mommy never really explained it to me.  Mouse Girl was gone for several hours at this kitty spa.  What the heck is a kitty spa?  All I have are pictures like this in my head:

Please tell me I’m wrong.  Really?  Mani, Pedi, wash, bubble bath, massages AND sauna treatments.  Hair up in curlers – please, please tell me I’m dreaming and this is all really just a piggy nightmare!

Then, the telephone rung and it was the kitty spa saying that Mouse Girl was done.  Done?  Done what?  I have to admit that I was intrigued as to what she was going to look like upon her return.  Mom/dad went and picked her up and opened her crate door in the front room.  The first thing me and Hemi did was smell her.  She smelled like baby powder.  Eeww – how girly.  Then she came sashaying out of her kennel.  She looked so relaxed, different but the same, and she was all smiling.  Yep, she was actually smiling with happiness.  She’s content.  She didn’t try to run away.  She walked through the house like she owned it and jumped on the bed for a nap.  I was able to click this picture of her.

WOW – she was even nice to me and Hemi for a change.  Personally, I think she needs to go to this kitty spa thing more often.  I’m going to make her another appointment next weekend.  If she comes home all this nice and not so moody, it will so be worth it!
