Oh my piggy heavens – squeals! I got a letter from the strawberry I met at Summer Camp – you know Piper. Piggy swoons – she even sent me pictures. WOWZER – isn’t she a looker my friends? Now do you see what I saw in her at camp? Hubba hubba – I’m attaching her letter for you to read 🙂

Dear Bacon,
I hope my letter and picture finds you safe and happy. I really enjoyed our times together at Summer Camp a couple of weeks ago. I’ll be truthful with you – I miss you my oinker friend. I can’t get you off of my mind. I dream about you – see the happy look on my face. I keep reliving our last day together where we shared our first hog and snout kiss – ❤ dreamy. You know I don’t live too far away. My mom said she would be game for a piggy date in the future… that is if you want to see me again. Much love my porky love. Love and ❤ kisses – Your Piper
Special Thanks To Laura Gerry who sent “Piper’s” pictures. You are so awesome our friend ❤

Oh my friends. Sometimes there are just things at the Hotel Thompson that happened that have to be shared. For instance, the little guy here named Houdini. He’s cool – most of the time. But sometimes the little guy gets on my everlasting LAST piggy nerve. There. It’s out. You don’t see a lot of pictures of us two together and there’s a reason. We both have to be chaperoned. Honestly that’s the truth. Mom doesn’t trust either of us with each other without her constant eagle stare. Like she says, it only takes one time.
Well what mom doesn’t know is the little guy looks to me for guidance – insert evil snort. He does most of everything I persuade him to do… not that I would do anything to hurt the little rascal. You see, for the past couple of weeks when he nods off to sleep, I’ve been whispering in his ear that he is actually a seal and likes to balance things off his snout. HA! What? You don’t believe me? I thought you might not so I have proof. I so proudly took this picture this morning of the little guy performing his circus routine. See. Subliminal conditioning does work. Evil Snorts.

In Honor of My Sweet Nylablue

You may be gone but you are not forgotten. I close my eyes and smile. I dream of you running without pain or illness through the daisies chasing butterflies and looking so beautiful. When I’m silent and still in my toddler bed with my Egyptian cotton sheet around me, I can almost hear your purrs in my ear – just like old times. You were my first kitty girlfriend – my sweet purr thing – my snugglebug and you always will be the love of my life ❤
I think of you now watching over all of us that are still here. You touched my life in so many ways. You showed us how to keep fighting for life and things you wanted. You showed us love beyond what we could ever imagine. I was privileged to have you in my life – your love was an added bonus that I will *NEVER* forget. You will always be part of my heart.
I pray for your mom and send her loads of hogs and snout kisses. May she find some peace and remember that we all are here for her in her time of need.
We love you Sherri-Ellen!

Do you know what makes this little piggies heart go pitter patter? If you said awards, you were right. I love awards! They just make me want to get up and do a little break dancing!
My friend Noah at http://hutchagoodlife.wordpress.com gave me this award on Friday, February 28, 2014. I’m so piggy excited! Thank you Noah (hogs and snout kisses). I really do hope that Spring is coming soon. I *need* Spring desperately. I need the heat waves. I need the fantastic weather to run and play and bring out my inner oinker!

I would like to pass on this lovely award to some people have touched my heart with sunshine. They are as follows – in no particular order 🙂 Have a fantastic day my friends!

Oh dear Lord, mom has finally stepped off that fine line of sanity. Whatever will I do? Her and dad went out in public again unchaperoned. Shakes my piggy head. I think I’m going to have to set some ground rules here at the Hotel Thompson that they can’t go out unattended in public. And no Nana, you can’t be a chaperone. You’re worse than they are – snorts.
I thought mom was joking all of these years when she said quote, “You’re just so cute, I could gobble you up.” Then she brings home a giant pig nose lollipop. Mom – that’s just sick. That’s like borderline inhumane.
I may need to call PFCS (Pig Family Children Services) on this one.

.
And dad you were not helping! At what point did you find it humorous to point out this coffee mug to mommy? You know what you are. You are an enabler my dear human daddy.
And just so as we are clear. Have you heard one time anyone licking me here and saying, “MMM Bacon?” I think not.
Rolls piggy eyes.

Then there was the overall flavor of ‘pig’ assortments. Thankfully, none of these found their way to the Hotel Thompson.
Mom, we do not need a pig shaped treat holder. I can keep all of my treats in the cold box. You don’t need to remind me that they are strictly mine because of the shape of the holder.

And by the way mom, what’s up with the ‘holey’ pig lamp? It looks like it got in a fight with farmer and didn’t win. That’s just so not pig right.
I think I will have to put my hooves down on some of these mom/dad.
Fun is fun and borderline sickness, well you need to be committed somewhere. Perhaps you need to think about this. Perhaps you need to give me a little extra loving tonight and perhaps a few more treats to show me how much you really do love me. Yeah, that’s it. I think that will work. That would make this entire ridiculous photo opportunity better.
And these, there are just no words.

Dear Bacon,
They say that we can all stand on our heads. I don’t know. I think I may be vertically challenged or maybe my head is not flat enough. I just can’t seem to be able to do it all the way with my back legs straight up. It throws me off balance. Can you do it? Signed Not Happening
Dear Not Happening,
Never dear friend. Sometimes we are just not built to do these weird things that you see the humans partake. I can’t stand on my head. This pot belly of mine knocks me off center every time. And my mom, even though she’s human, she can’t do it either. Don’t try to be like everyone else. Make your own path and be happy – leave the sitting to your bottom.

Dear Bacon,
There’s always that one idiot that has to pop in your picture. Can you relate? I was minding my own business in this shot. I just wanted it to look halfway decent to post on my Pet Harmony dating profile. Signed Available
Dear Available,
Yep. I know exactly what you are talking about. Hemi, the purr thing here at the Hotel Thompson, thinks he should be in every camera shot. He is always photo bombing my pictures. Just keep smiling. Pay back can really be tortuous for our sidekicks. Right? Maybe sign up your friend as well on Pet Harmony and post his picture – of course with your picture cropped out. Snort giggles.

Dear Bacon,
It’s a wonderful thing to have such great friends. Out in the pasture, sometimes I just get tuckered out. That’s my good buddy will help me out and let me take a nap. Isn’t that nice of him? Signed Sleepy on the Road
Dear Sleepy on the Road,
That is an excellent friend. I can’t say that I’ve ever seen that kind of friendship before. You are most definitely one lucky little guy!

Dear Bacon,
I coach a soccer team on the weekends. We are always looking for a few new team players. You ever think about playing? I’ve heard that snout of yours can be classified as a deadly weapon. We could use a player like you. What do you say? Signed Coach Jones of Team Anipals
Dear Coach Jones of Team Anipals,
That sounds like a great deal of fun. I’m In to give it a shot. This snout is very wicked and these hooves are very fast!!

Dear Bacon,
I think I need some anti wrinkle cream. Every time I wake up, I have more wrinkles! Soon, you’ll just see one giant sloppy dog. What can a pooch do? Please help. Signed Wrinkles
Dear Wrinkles,
As Lady Gaga once said, “Just put your paws up, Cause you were born this way, baby”. Embrace the way you are and don’t try to fight it my friend. Be happy in your own wrinkles.
Remember friends – keep sending you pictures and questions to me at Baconthompson@gmail.com

I am speechless. If you have known me for any length of time, you know that is almost impossible. I opened up my comments this morning and was granted the most sincere message. I was posted with the Bouquet of Three Awards. After getting my wits together and getting over being speechless, I squealed so loud that I think the rafters in the Hotel Thompson shook. I took off running to find daddy so I could tell him. We were ALL so excited.
Wandering Jouster (WJ as we like to call her) at http://wanderingjouster.com nominated me for the Bouquet of Three Awards. THREE awards at one time – this may go to my little piggy head – snorts. Thank you so much WJ for making my morning and starting my weekend off on the right hoove. This is a wonderful gift on a Friday!! She nominated this little piggy and wrote about me, “A little bit spoiled pig, loves enjoys talking about his/her misadventures. “
Snorts – yep I guess I would resemble that remark – snorts. I do love talking about my misadventures and sharing them. But spoiled – who’s spoiled – looks around innocently – snorts giggles.

Let’s go over the rules of the award:
- Display the Award Certificate on your website/blog. Check – see above
- Announce your win with a post. Make sure to post a link back to me as a thank you for the nomination. Check – see above
- Present up to 15 awards to deserving bloggers. Check – see below
- Drop them a comment to tip them off after you have linked them in the post. Check 🙂
- Post 7 interesting things about yourself. Check – see below
Simple enough, right? This is so much fun! Let’s nominate some friends. I wish I could nominate ALL of my friends here. I really hate having to choose only 15 friends. That’s hard on a little pig! I never want to leave anyone out ever! I consider all of you very close to me and I love you all. If your name is not listed – don’t be upset – consider yourself awarded as well 🙂
- My friends at http://breathelighter.wordpress.com/ – you have to go check out Darwin. I fell in love with him.
- My friends at http://sweetdaysundertheoaks.com/ – go check out the beautiful photography on this page. The last one is of the rain. You can almost feel the rain touching you and the coolness outside.
- My friends at http://swineandvines.wordpress.com/ – one word – Hitchens. Hitchens is a micro-mini pig. He reminds me of someone – snorts.
- My friends at http://thedancingrider.wordpress.com/ – Talk about a post that has the love of two very close things – ballet and horses. A very special friend here ((Hogs and Snout Kisses!)
- My friends at http://thek9harperlee.wordpress.com/ – Miss Harper Lee – if only I was a barky thing! She’s spunky. She’s gorgeous. She’s a Golden Retriever God! Check her out and you will be hooked too!
- My friends at http://themisadventuresofmisaki.wordpress.com/ – Misaki is a beautiful Alaskan Malamute. Do you know how you meet someone and you feel like you’ve know them all of your life? This is how I feel about Misaki and her humans.
- My friends at http://freerangecow.com/ – Chloe is a traveling ‘cow’ who goes everywhere – rock concerts included. She reminds me of my little Bashful, the rolling stone.
- My friends at http://easyweimaraner.wordpress.com/ – Easy!! Easy is my buddy – I guess you could say we are brothers from a different mother – snorts. Our humans think along the same lines and well that spells T.R.O.U.B.L.E.
- My friends at http://dinz1234.wordpress.com/ – Fozzie from down under. He’s the bestest. We’ve met just recently and it’s been non-stop every since.
- My friends at http://gentlestitches.com/ – Sharon is the most creative person I think I know. Some of the things that she can make with her own two hands are unbelievable!! You *have* to check out her creativity and some of the ‘friends’ she has 🙂
- My friends at http://wileyschmidt.com/ – Wiley!! Wiley is a terrier mix. He is so loving, so caring and his heart is so huge!!
Seven interesting tidbits about myself – the amazing pig – snorts
1. I don’t like the feel of grass on my hooves. It’s a texture thing – shivers.
2. I have a king size Egyptian cotton sheet that is like my security blanket.
3. Mom’s fixes me the best spinach omelets 🙂 Yep, she cooks for me.
4. Mom has a painted picture of my snout in her office at the worky place.
5. Daddy gives me animal crackers throughout the day while mom is working
6. I have my own television in my own bedroom and I know how to work the remote.
7. I have *my* own pet. His name is Bashful and he is my pet rock. He travels on field trips.

Isn’t it snoutfully beautiful!? Mommy is in love with this picture of my snout. She says that she wants to buy it for her office. That way she can look at it throughout the day and think of me – see I’ve got her trained, right?
This picture was painted by Sheila Wedegis who lives in Florida. Sheila has a blog at www.sheilawedegis.blogspot.com that you just have to check out. She absolutely has some beautiful paintings that she has done and me and mom were in awe! You can also see her work at www.sheilawedegis.com Go find out who her muse is – 🙂
I found out about Sheila when she painted my friend Cocco’s cute little piggy snout. You can see his picture at http://myminipetpig.com/2013/02/a-snout-shot/
These little piggy snouts have a lot of personality all rolled up in them! What do you think?

For our movie night last night, we watched a special on television about miniature pot bellied pigs. It was fantastic! We learned exciting things. I thought I would share some with you.

Did you know that miniature pigs were first introduced into the United States in the 1980’s? See, we haven’t been here that long.
Did you know that the standards for a miniature pot bellied pig for a full peidgreed are: after fully grown can not be more than 15 inches tall and has to be under 55 pounds. I am classified in this category. I am a miniature pot bellied pig.
Did you know that pigs like to play and blow bubbles in water. As soon as mom and dad saw this in the show, we all started laughing. I’m known for doing this in the tub. I just think its fun and the bubbles around my snout tickle.
Did you know that pigs love to be snuggled. We don’t much like to be picked up. We like for our hooves to touch the floor – we feel safe that way. When I was little, I loved for mom to snuggle me when I was a baby. These days, sometimes I feel like it and will walk into her arms. Most times though, I want the security of the floor beneath my little hooves.
Did you know that piglets are usually adopted out at 12 weeks. However, mom adopted me at a mere 3 weeks. I was what they called a runt. You know “a member of the litter that is smaller or weaker than the others, faces obvious disadvantages in competing with its siblings for survival”. There’s lots of us famous runts out there: Wilbur from Charlotte’s Web; Clifford the Big Red Dog; Cadpig from The Hundred and One Dalmations; Babe; Seabiscuit (a famous racehorse); and Darwin from G-Force.
Mom and dad raised the purr things from three weeks and bottle fed them. They had confidence that they could take care of me as well. I think they did a pretty good job at it, don’t you?
Being adopted so young, I didn’t learn how “to be a pig”. I learned how to be a human. That was my formative time between 3 and 12 weeks. I learned how to act based on mommy and what I saw her do. I guess that’s why I’m so ‘humanized’ if you will. Me and mom have a special bond.
I hope you learned some new things about my breed. Have a great one! XOXO – Bacon

WOW – that was a mouthful. Bet you don’t know what it is, do you? I didn’t either until a friend told me about it (thanks Dana) and I did a little research. I was simply amazed. So before you got trotting off and googling it, let me show you what it is first.
What does that look like to you? Helicocranchia pfefferi, the banded piglet squid, is a small squid of the genus Helicocranchia. They live near the surface of the oceans between 100 m and 200 m deep.
Doesn’t it look like it’s smiling in this picture… like everything is just wonderful under the sea? It is rarely photographed and this picture was captured on film at a rescue aquarium. Can you see the ‘pig’ shape? Round, sluggish looking with that adorable snout nose?
You learn new things every day. Consider this your new thing for today. There’s lots of creatures out there that look like us. You just have to find them!
