Mom’s Christmas Picks

Hello friends.  It’s not too late to get some last minute Christmas ideas on your list.  Today, I’m going to share some of my Christmas picks.  These are things that I have come across that I find fascinating and wonderful.  If you have found something this year, please also share.  The shopping days are ticking down!  ❤

My first pick – knitted gloves.  They have these types of gloves in all kinds of different sizes and materials.  They have them longer, shorter, with fingers and without fingers.  They look fashionable yet let me tell you a little secret.  If you have someone you know that has arthritis – they need these types of gloves.  I’ve been having a lot of joint pain and my wrists are really bad.  These gloves give my wrists just a little bit of warmth and comfort.  I wear these with long or short sleeved shirts – in and around the house.  Say what you want to the fashionistas in the world – these gloves rock.  They are on the top of my list.

And a blessing – you can find these on Amazon at all kinds of different prices – from less than $2.00 to the ones on the higher end of $20.00 – check them out 🙂

Next up –  make up.  What girl doesn’t love a good quality make up?  And yes, I’m confident in myself to show you this fabulous company I have found.  I saw an infomercial a while back on IT Cosmetics.  I thought it looked interesting and finally broke down and got some make up from them.  It came in the mail so quickly and in such a cute little package.  I tried it and let me tell you something – I’m never.going.back!  This is the best make up that I have tried in my entire life.  This coming from a girl that use to only using Clinique products.  Now I will tell you that IT Cosmetics are not cheap but they are amazing!  I’m showing you my before and after pictures so you can see how beautiful the product works.

I am using Your Skin But Better CC+ Cream with SPF 50+ (medium).  This is your base and goes on like a cream.  It does not feel like a foundation at all and look at all of the imperfections in my face that it covers – totally awesome.  And a little bit goes a long ways.  I then followed this with Bye Bye Pores.  This is a powder that really does make your pores disappear and it is so silky.  Then I added my regular eye and lip make up.  Can you see the difference?  Like I said it is costly, these two products I ordered set me back around $60 BUT again a little goes a long way. AND they do not test their products on animals – isn’t that another great plus?!

My final pick – Pony Up Daddy.  This is hilarious and I absolutely fell in love with this.  At first, I really thought it was a joke.  But it’s no joke!  How many times have your children or grandchildren wanted to play horsey on your back while you went around the house on all fours?  Here you go – a ‘saddle’ that velcros around the horses waist.  The child then climbs aboard for the ride of their life.  Where has this been all of our lives?  I can just see my hub unit using one of these with the kids in our lives – what a blast!  Price range – around $25.00 – I’ve seen them on Amazon and at Wal-Mart.

So friends – what have you found for this Christmas season?  Please share!

Shopping Around the World and Bacon’s Show and Tell – Mark Your Calendars

Hello friends – Please be sure to mark your calendars with our important dates this month 🙂❤

Shopping Around the World

This month it is scheduled for December 30th – after the holiday so we can all make plans.  Since it is the Christmas holidays, this month we will again focus on appetizers, side dishes, salads, soups, main entrees or desserts.  What is something that you look forward to once a year at Christmas.  I mean yes we can have it throughout the year but having it at Christmas screams the holiday?  This gives you a wide variety of foods you can come up with.  Fix whatever your dish is, take pictures and post it with recipes and prices on December 30th on your blog.  Remember to link back to my blog posting so people can see yours.  This is a wonderful way to (1) meet new friends in blogville and (2) get some wonderful recipes.  And I’ll admit it.  This piggy has been known to visit on these days and lick the computer screen at some of your awesome dishes.  I’m just sayin’ – some of pictures look out of this world!!

Bacon’s Show and Tell

To me, what better time of the year to share some embarrassing stories from Christmas.  Did you gather as a family for dinner and someone do something hilarious?  Did you have a mishap and spill your plate?  Go ahead my friends, let’s talk about something funny our humans do or did during their Christmas holidays.  I know these stories will be good!  Bacon’s Show and Tell is scheduled for December 28th.  Remember to do your blog and link back to my blog so we can all see what everyone shares.  Thanks my friend – can’t wait for some great stories.

Price Placement

So daddy lied.  He decided to venture out with mom to take a break from wrapping and they went down the street to a store.  It wasn’t busy which was awesome.  Daddy of course was looking around with mommy.  That’s when mom found this package and started laughing uncontrollably inside of the store.  In fact, mom was laughing so hard that she couldn’t breathe.  Daddy didn’t know whether to call a doctor or an exorcist for mommy.  That’s when she finally got a hold of herself and described to daddy about this video.  Remember stores – it’s all about price placement and where NOT to put the sticker.  OMP – Now I have the giggles – rolls with piggy laughter.

Paw Time with Houdini

Hey friends!  How was your week?  Mine was awesome – I got a lot of lap time from mom.  You gotta love mommy lap time, right?  It’s the bestest in the entire world.  And I learned something so exciting and wonderful.  If mom is walking or standing and if I reach out with my front paws on her leg, she picks me up and loves on me.  OMD – why didn’t I learn this earlier in my puppy life?  Every time I turn around now, I have to do this so mom holds me and only me.  What a life!?  If she holds me and puts me down, I give a little grunt of dissatisfaction and she picks me back up.  WOW!  Then she carries me everywhere – to the mailbox, out in the back yard, up the street to Nana’s – wherever.  Did you know this maneuver my friends?  If not, you need to try it and let me know what you think.

And this picture of me – let me explain 😦  You see I went to sleep and when I woke up the pillow had exploded.  Yep that’s it.  That’s the story I’m sticking to for sure – looks innocently and gives you a puppy kiss.

No Daddy

Over the weekend, mom/dad went Christmas shopping.  They wanted a jump start to the season and wanted to look at stuff before it was all picked over… their words.  I’m not sure what they meant.  So they are hitting the shelves and daddy found a new friend. All mom heard was, “Honey I want”.  When mom turned around she saw this… where was daddy?  There was a muffled voice behind the horn faintly saying how much they wanted to come home with us.  Mom of course said no.  It’s too big.  Put it back.

Well, daddy never gives up.  I think we all know that by now, right friends?  A few minutes later, daddy said, “It has to be smaller right?’  Of course mom has her back to daddy and is kind of half listening and trying to shop.  She mumbles, “Yes”.  That’s when daddy gets a grin on his face and says loudly, “Welcome home my new friend.”

Now mom knows before she even turns around that this is not going to be good.  She slowly turns around and sees daddy with a new friend that is half the size of the original.  She puts on her best mom voice and says, “Why?  Why do you need a pink unicorn with a horn?”

Dad says, “Well it’s magical.  I don’t want him.  My inner child wants him.  He never had a magical unicorn.”

Okay, so how can you say no to that?  Well mom did.  Snorts with piggy laughter.  She explained to daddy that we were shopping for ‘others’ in our lives not for ourselves.  And you know, it’s much more fun to buy for others.  That’s when daddy pulled out his trump card and mentioned a certain someone here in blogville that he bet his inner child was wanting one of these special unicorns.  Now Evil Squirrel – I’m sure you would love said awesome unicorn but could you imagine sending this to you?  Heck, it would probably be better if I delivered it in person.. 🙂 right?

So mom had to explain that difficulties it would be in mailing the said wonderful, amazing, magical unicorn with a special horn and dad said he agreed…. especially when mom said if he put it back and behaved the rest of the time, she would buy him a drink after shopping.  Amazing how fickle my daddy can be.  One promised drink and Evil Squirrels unicorn went out the window.  Sorry about that my evil friend.  My mom is a hard-ass when it comes to shopping.  Snorts with piggy laughter.

Travels in the South

Today we continue our travels in the south series.  I’m going to take you back to Tybee Island, Georgia.  Why?  Because that happens to be one of the places in the entire world that mom/dad can get to for an escape of reality to find inner peace.  You believe that, right?  Snorts with piggy laughter.

So there mom/dad was in one of the many stores on Tybee Island, wondering around aimlessly looking for ‘it’.  You do know what ‘it’ is, right?  When woman know they need something but can’t quite put their manicured finger on what it is they need.  You follow me now?  So there they were in this store, mom looks up and says to dad, “There it is!”  Oh dear have mercy is what I think dad mumbled.  What was it?  Take exhibit A in the picture to the left.  For a moment mom thought they were in the South Pacific on Easter Island.  Where else would they be finding this ‘dude’?

You know Easter Island – There are mysterious moai statues that are huge – averaging 13 feet and weighing 14 tons.  Although they stand silent reaching for the stars, they speak volumes on how did they get there and how were they constructed which to this day is a mystery.  So was mom surprised when she found “Junior” here on Tybee Island, Georgia of all places.  Now, mom thought Junior would be awesome standing either on her front porch here at the Hotel Thompson or on the deck.  See, mom’s weird like that.  And I’m sure us anipals would have endless nightmares of Junior chasing us in our sleep.  So, this is the one time that I can say dad talked some sense into mom… this time.  But if Junior is still there the next time mom/dad visits the island, I can’t promise it won’t come home… yay.

And another “it” that mom found while shopping endlessly for nothing, was a treasured Tybee Island rock.  You know this rock did make it home to the Hotel Thompson and is now treasured with our other pet rocks.  They all get along and have been talking non-stop about the beach and the fantastic water.  I foresee a pet rock excursion taking place to Tybee Island in the near future.  Do you?

Now, I’m stepping away from this part on food – take it away mom/dad ❤

For obvious reasons, Bacon doesn’t need to see this.  This creation is one of mine and Jim’s favorite breakfast foods while visiting Tybee Island.  We even introduced it to Jean/Bill from Canadian Cats and to Fozziemom/Fozziedad from All Fur One and One Fur All when they visited.

It is hash browns well done crispy sprinkled with chopped up fried bacon.  See, that’s why Bacon didn’t need to see this.  It is insanely evil and so delicious.  You won’t look at plain hash browns the same way.

Hope you enjoyed this week in our Travels in the South series.  Until next time
