Mom really how could you? Okay I get it. You have a shoe fetish. I used to have one too but you broke me of that. I get that. But you come home with these shoes. Really? They have D.O.G.S. on them. And hey get this – they are not of me. So how could you? I feel betrayed. I think this look tells you everything I’m feeling. Now be a nice sport about it. Take those shoes off so I can take care of them if you know what I mean. 🙂
P.S. These are mom’s new shoes. They are Skecher BOB’s and are awesome. I know when she wears them, she is thinking of me. And mom says they are the most comfortable pair of shoes she has ever had. That’s gotta mean something, right?
Oh ladies – do you have those favorite pair of high heels sitting in your closet? You know the ones – the ones with the red bottoms that you just can’t live without?
Did you know that high heels were originally created for men to wear? Butchers wore them in their shops so they could avoid stepping in blood. Okay – you can say it now. EEWW – can you imagine that?!
Of course, mom says that it might be kind of fun watching some big masculine men walking around in high heels. Lord knows she’s not thinking of daddy here at the Hotel Thompson. That father of mine can barely walk around wearing tennis shoes – snorts!
So the next time you put on those fabulous pair of pumps, think of how the originated. Then put them on and vogue it my friends!
Dear Bacon – I’ve watched your blog over the past couple of months and decided to give it a whirl. This is some hard work that you do! Where do you find the time? I have less time chasing the mailman, cat and UPS guy from the house. I have less time making pee mails on the floor. I have less time sleeping. And heck by the time I do sleep, my paws hurt from typing all day. How do you do it little pig? Signed Blogger in Training
Dear Blogger in Training – Time Management my friend. Once you get involved in blogville, you have to make sure your calendar and scheduling is set. You see being a pig, I *have* to have a schedule. My life is scheduled. If I get off schedule, I get really bent out of shape. So, organization my friend. You can do this! Just schedule your blogging time into your calendar and stick with it – you know in between doing the other things you love like chasing the mailman and protecting the hood. You got this!
Dear Bacon – I can’t help it! I get so excited when I see that yellow looking greenish ball. JOY!! I can describe it in words. I just go crazy. All I can think is, “Ball-ball-gotta get the ball-ball”. My owners just don’t get it. That ball is totally cool beans and I have to have it! Signed Ball Chaser
Dear Ball Chaser – You know my friend there is nothing wrong with having something that you love. I mean, if it’s a ball so what! It could always be something worse that your humans would have to worry about. I say have fun and keep chasing – oh is that a ball there?!
Dear Bacon – I’ve been reading about your mom’s journey with friends in her attempt at trying to change her lifestyle and do better. I have some encouragement for her. “Go girl – you can do this!” That’s right. This little hedgehog has more than looks – let me be her cheerleader. She has this. And you know what? So does all of her friends on your blog. They got this!! Signed Number One Hog
Dear Number One Hog – Thanks pal. That is so nice of you and a great picture of you cheering mom and all of her friends right along. You rock! Thanks for the encouragement and you know what?
You keep rocking and rolling yourself our sweet new friend!
Dear Bacon – Dude, I just had to send you our family picture. OMD! My two brothers got into the biggest trouble the other week. One encouraged the other to shall we say devour one of mom’s heels. You know those heels – the ones moms wear to work. It was not a pretty vision when mom came home and found her beautiful heel gutted with strands of it from the front room to the bedroom. Well mom made them wear signs and take their picture. I told her I wanted to wear a sign too – with a special to you Bacon my idol! Whatcha think? Signed Bacon Jr
Dear Bacon Jr – OMP. I am honored and so touched my little friend that you wanted to do a shout out to me. I say in this instance, YOU ROCK my little friend. Now keep your brothers out of your mom’s shoes. Those shoes with the heels are sacred to moms ❤
Remember my friends – Dear Bacon can’t happen without *you*. Please remember to email me your letters and pictures ❤
My sweet friends at Nikitaland have started this monthly issue of Pay It Forward. We asked for you to keep this in mind all month and to share things here today on what you have been able to do. Paying it forward is not for bragging purposes – it’s an attempt to show how many different things we can do to pay it forward – lots of them don’t even include money. Gestures that we take for granted may be a God send to another person.
What have you done this past month to pay it forward? Here’s what mom/dad have done so far.
One night, mom/dad went to a local restaurant called Cracker Barrel. They were having dinner, it was kind of crowded and this guy got seated between mom/dad and another couple. You could tell that he was a homeless man. He ordered two glasses of water and a coffee. He was content with just sitting there, enjoying the heat from the fireplace and drinking his coffee. He spoke to everyone that made contact with him – and was such a very pleasant gentleman. He wasn’t asking for anything from anyone except for conversation. Before mom/dad could buy him dinner, the other couple offered and did. Mom went up to the register and also bought him a gift card to use at the restaurant so he could also come back for another dinner without having to pay.
Mom is also still continuing with her donations of plasma. She has now made 13 donations and is getting closer to her commitment of 20. Some people ask does it hurt. There are times when you can’t even feel the needle and there are other times that you feel it and continue to feel it until the donation is done. Mom says that it doesn’t matter because what pain she does experience is nothing compared to the help it offers others.

REMEMBER – this is November and Thanksgiving is closely approaching. What will you do to pay it forward this month?. Will you help out at a food bank? Will you help out at a feed the hunger dinner? Will you raise money or give to the food bank? These are great ideas – especially for this time of year. Can’t wait to see what you do my friends 🙂

This month mom/dad decided to do something that was a little different than the usual. They eat out a lot on the weekends. They decided that they would go out during the month and whatever waitress/waiter they met that really went overboard in kindness, they would leave a very nice tip. I mean nice… not cruise around the world nice but generous enough that it would mean more than the typical tip. That was their game plan and they stuck with it.
So one place they went to they met a nice young lady and talked to her throughout their meal. They learned she was supporting herself while going to school and working two jobs to pay for school and rent. Mom/dad both looked at each other and knew this was *the one*. At the end of their meal, they added their tip in on their charge and left. They didn’t want anything in return – just a smile on the waitresses face in knowing that people that really care are out there.
