May I Introduce a New Series

My friends – I wanted to give you a highlight on something new I will be presenting here on my blog.

I’ve worked hard on this for the past couple of months and some of you may have already been contacted for submissions.  Don’t worry, I’m still making the rounds and if you are interested too, please send me an email.  What is it that you ask?  Well starting this Thursday, me and the little guy here will be presenting Spotlight Thursday.

This is the time that I will introduce you to one of my fellow anipals so you can get to know them better.  Some of them, you may already know and some of them may be new friends to your circles.  It’s our little way of working together to meet new friends.   We hope that you enjoy this new series and will come for our first edition this Thursday, January 7, 2016.

Netflix Series

Have you watched this television series? I think it showed originally on Showtime.  (This picture was taken off of Google for the 8th Season).  The entire show is about Dexter Morgan who is a blood splatter expert working in Miami, Florida for the Miami Metro Police Department.  What people don’t know is that secretly Dexter is a serial killer.  Now saying serial killer brings to mind a bad person – an insane person, right?  I guess in a way it still rings true but Dexter is a little different.  He only kills people that deserve it.  Sounds weird huh?  We are talking about people that kill that get off in the court system or people that kill that others don’t know about.

While it was on Showtime, we didn’t watch it… you know for obvious reasons – we didn’t have Showtime 🙂 Snorts!  But when it went to Netflix, I put that show in my queue so fast and started watching it… all eight seasons!

Now we couldn’t watch while the purr things or Houdini was still awake.  Me and mom had to wait until they went to bed and were asleep and then we would watch 1-2 shows every night.

Now I want you to think about this.  There was eight seasons and about 12-13 shows per season.  So mom and this little oinker invested probably around 100 hours of watching around 104 shows.  No, we didn’t do this overnight.  Yes, we did it during downtime.  What?  Can’t a pig have a favorite show?

If you haven’t watched the shows, I’m not going to give anything away.  But I will tell you that we went through a LOT of drama, a lot of killings, a lot of twists and a lot of plots that made your mouth hang wide.  I started to know the characters like family.  I grew fond of some of them.  And after watching the shows, me and mom would discuss what happened.

The first three seasons we watched within a matter of weeks.  They kept me on my piggy hooves while covering one eye and jumping at surprises.  Yes, they were that good.

Season 4 through 7 were okay.  Something happened along the way.  You see Dexter was trying to be ‘normal’.  He even got married and had a baby.  All of this was great.

Then there was season 8, the final season.  To us, this is where things seemed rushed.  Have you ever read a book that was so good all the way through it and then in the last chapter you learn that everything was a dream?  Well, it was kind of like this to us.  It was so good but the last show of season 8 left us wanting.  There was so much more that could have happened.  I mean, yes there are only so many killings that a serial killer can do but it just felt empty here.  Too many things happened in the last show that your brain doesn’t have time to process it.  Then when it does, your brain is like WTF just happened… pardon the bad language.

Have you seen this series?  What did you think?  Discuss.

A New Show I’m Watching

So, I’ve started watching this new series on television.  It comes on the Fox channel at 9:00PM on Monday nights.  It’s called… are you ready?  Sleepy Hollow – insert spooky music here.

This past Monday was the first episode.  If you loved the original Legend of Sleepy Hollow by Washington Irving, you will probably love this as well.  This new series is like a modern day version of the fairy tale fantasy.  I had doubts before watching the show but after the first episode – I’m hooked – hooves and all!

This new show has everything – suspense, drama, witchcraft, adventure, thriller and a headless horseman.  Who could ask for anything more?

The show, of course, revolves around a resurrected Headless Horseman, Ichabod Crane and Lieutenant Abbie Mills in 2013 Sleepy Hollow, New York.

As Ichabod Crane, can you imagine waking up to the 21st century when all you remember is 18th century Colonial America?  Technology alone mystifies poor Crane.  There is even some humor in these clips, especially when he gets in a car and starts playing with the windows – up/down/down/up – too funny.

If you get a chance, you must check out this show and see what you think.  We at the Hotel Thompson are hooked on the first episode.  I did hear on the television this morning that there will be some reshows of the pilot tonight.  Check your television guides.

The second episode titled Blood Moon will be on September 23, 2013 at 9:00PM.

Of course, this little piggy has his thoughts on who in the show is bad and who is good already.  I can’t wait to watch future shows to see if I’m right.  Please let me know what you think.  XOXO – Bacon

Monday Night Shivers –

20130102-084326.jpg

WARNING – This may have spoilers about the show.  I’m caught up on it but just in case you’re not – WARNING!

Monday nights are exciting at the Hotel Thompson for television.  All housework must be completed, popcorn must be popped, bathroom breaks need to be done and you need to be in the front room for Being Human at 9:00PM.  If I’m still up, I get to watch.  I admit it’s scary but it’s the greatest show.  The down side to the show is it’s only an hour long each Monday.  It’s one of those shows that you start watching and all of a sudden the hour is up and you’re like WOW – Did that just happen!?

Being Human started on the BBC and was a British supernatural drama.  It started in the United States as a supernatural drama in 2011 on the SyFy channel.  We’ve watched all of the seasons, have the videos and make it a regular weekly show on Mondays for our family movie night.  It is awesome!  Here’s a little breakdown to wet your interest and make you want to watch.

The show revolves around three of the main characters: a ghost, a werewolf and a vampire.  That’s a mix of characters already, isn’t it?  Intriguing in its ownself right there.  The ghost, Sally Malik, has been through her own little ordeal the first couple of seasons.  There’s always a reason why you stay as ghost after death, why you don’t pass over.  You know, unfinished business and all.  Well, she had a lot.  We find out that Sally got killed and that’s why she can’t find her door to cross over.  Bummer huh?  But not to fear, Sally is a lovely lady and in this season she is no longer a ghost 🙂 , she is something ‘else’.  For the details in that something else, well you’re going to have to watch the show.  She’s blossomed into a bigger character than I ever thought possibe.

The werewolf is Josh.  Since he has four legs once a month, I kind of favor him at times.  He’s also on mom’s Facebook – so yes we pick favorites – snort.  In the beginning of the show, he was camping with a friend in the woods and got attacked by a werewolf thus making him now a wolfie on the full moon.  He just really wants to be normal.  I can’t go into details about it but personally now I think he’s more normal than any of them – snort.

His bestie is the vampire, Aidan Waite.  Aidan and Josh just want to fit in and be like everyday normal peeps.  They both work at the local hospital – I know outrageous huh?  They decide to move in together to have a kind of normalcy both knowing the others conditions.  They find a house and move in and that’s when they meet Sally.

So bottom line, we have three unique people all living together trying to have a normal life despite being a ghost, a werewolf and a vampire.  You think that’s enough?  Of course not.  Josh falls in love with Nora who also works at the hospital.  She has had a really rough time in the love department.  Unfortunately… or we might say fortunately after you’ve watched a couple of episodes… Nora also turns into a wolfie.

I didn’t give away too much details.  It’s really an awesome show and I would give it four hooves up but I would fall on the floor so how about three hooves up?  You gotta give it a try and watch a couple of shows to see if you don’t get hooked.  I know we did!

XOXO – Bacon
