I’ve Created a New Season – Happy Sprinter

This picture is from Wikipedia.  It shows the typical seasons – Spring, Summer, Fall and then Winter.  That’s the way it’s suppose to fall.  But this year, dear old Mother Nature is not playing fairly.  Mommy says she needs hormone shots and daddy says she needs more dates with Father Time.  I’m not sure which one is right.  I just know that maybe she needs a kick in the butt.  Yep, I said.  I kick right smack in the middle of her captains quarters.

You see, this weekend is what I’m talking about.  Saturday here at the Hotel Thompson we get up and it is beautiful.  There’s no other way to put it.  The birds are chirping (and that’s a story for another time – snorts), the sun is out, the wind is just right and the temperatures are in the 60’s.  You couldn’t ask for a more gorgeous day.  Mom and me went out to wash her Smart car Albert.  It only took less than five minutes by throwing a cup of water at it – snorts.  I kill myself.

Our neighbor Big Daddy had cut our yard and the back yard was spectacular.  Thanks Big Daddy!  We went out there and ran for a while.  Mommy says it was for me to get some sun and I said I understood.  Secretly I knew she wanted me to run some excess Winter weight off so I would sleep more deeply tonight.  I’m good with that.  I just wonder why she didn’t make daddy do the same.  Double snorts.

It was a wonderful day.  Lots of running, loving and snuggles.

Then BAM!  What a change Sunday.  Sunday brought us rain, cool weather and strong winds.  We could actually sit inside and hear the winds!  We all got up and had breakfast together.  It was so damp and yuck outside that after breakfast, we all went back to bed.  Now, I’m not hating days like this because usually, like this day, when we go back to bed we all get on the Select Comfort for a siesta.  It was great.

Picture this.  A king sized Select Comfort bed with two humans, two purr things and a piggy.  Snorts, I’m a 65 with mommy on the Select Comfort.  Daddy and the purr things are a 100.  That’s just too hard for this little oinker.  When we got up from our nap, it was still yuck outside.

Now, I’m telling you all of this for a reason.  It’s suppose to be Spring but it still acts like Winter.  I’m suggesting a new season called – Sprinter.  You get it?  Spring with Winter.  So sometime today, tell someone Happy Sprinter.  Then smile and remember my little story here.  🙂

Happy Sprinter my pals!

Happy Groundhog Day!!

Journalist Rocky the Squirrel here –

“Keeping my paws on the nuts of the world!”

.

.

Today, February 2nd is Groundhog Day.    According to folklore, there are two options that could happen today:

  • If it’s cloudy when the groundhog emerges and he doesn’t see his shadow, then spring will be right around the corner; but
  • If it’s sunny when the groundhog emerges, he does *see* his shadow and retreats back into his burrow, then winter will continue for six more weeks.

The largest groundhog day celebration takes place every year in Punxsutawney, Pennsylvania.

Personally, I hope that spring is right around the corner.  I could go for some warmer weather here at the Hotel Thompson.  And I know that oinker Bacon would enjoy it.

Good luck on whatever you want.   I’ll be back soon!

Choices – Choices – Choices

Monday brings us a lot of choices in life.  It’s the first day of the work week and it starts the ‘feel’ and groove of the new week.  It’s another week to start over and fresh.  It’s also a great night for television which leads us to choices – choices and more choices.  And tonight, we have a dilemma at the Hotel Thompson.

Choice A –

Being Human airs on the SyFy channel.  Great show. This show is going on the fourth season and we’ve watched every episode.  It’s good.  There’s Aidan Waite (a vampire), Sally Malik (a ghost), Josh Levison and Nora Sergeant (werewolves).  They all live together and their lives have all intertwined with each other through friendship and surviving their individual ‘characteristics’ that they bring to the show.  Season 3 ended with a blast in the title “Ruh Roh”.  We have a loose end, Kenny, that can still come back.  Liam is gone – so there goes the pure breeds.  Sally is now in what should we say – purgatory – with Donna.  Josh is again a wolf but there’s some connection to Donna.  And, in the last shot of this episode, we see someone that looks like Suzanna (Aidan’s wife) appearing on screen.  WTP (What the pig)!?  Exciting – totally exciting this fourth season is going to be.

.

Choice B –

Sleepy Hollow airs on the Fox network tonight. This is the first season for this show and tonight is the season finale – two hours.  Hopefully tonight will tie up some loose ends.  What happened to Ichabob’s son? How does Abbie play into everything?  The show is actually broken into two shows – hour one is titled The Indispensable Man and hour two is titled Bad Blood.  Sacrifices are made and loyalties are tested – that’s what I’m reading about that should happen.  How in the world could we miss this??

.

So choices – choices – choices.  They both come on at the same time.  I don’t have a DVR.  I have to pick one over the other which is so hard.  And, I don’t want to flip back and forth – I would definitely miss something.  You gotta help me out.  What’s a little piggy to do?  Run back and forth from the living room to my bedroom trying to watch both?  I need some help my friends.  What will YOU be watching?

Fall Will Be Here Soon

20120827-071859.jpg

I don’t go outside by choice but I can tell that the weather is preparing to change. Just like my internal clock tells me when it’s time to eat, I know it’s time for the season to change.

This past weekend I did something that I haven’t done since last year at this time. It kind of shocked me as well as my parents. You ask what did I do? I snuggled with dad. Mom is always my snuggle mate but when the weather changes I’ll take whoever is available. He was there. He was it.

See when the weather changes and the cool air starts moving in, I start my little ‘hibernation’ mode.  Yeah, I’m like a little bear until spring gets here again.  I eat.  I sleep.  I do my business.  I snuggle.  Repeat.  I don’t do much running around during this period.  I well, for a better explanation, fatten up a bit.  I become a big ole snuggle pig.  When I smell the spring flowers start to bloom, I come alive again and start running around the house.

I like to call myself my parents calendar.  They can tell what’s fixing to happen with the way I act.  I still can’t read the humans but I’m trying 🙂
