Welcome my friends to our weekly issue of Journey with Friends.  This is a time that we come together for support, for encouragement, for fellowship – all with one single goal in mind – to live better.  Welcome to our journey to share our goals and our accomplishments and our disappointments and frustrations.

Together we can do this!

Sunday, October 8, 2017 –  It looks like we are all getting better here at the Hotel Thompson – YAY!  The hub unit had the cold and then he so nicely gave it back to me again.  A family that shares together, right?  Hopefully this cold is behind us now… I hope.  It’s raining outside today and the next couple of days so we plan on getting rest.  Miles Moved: 1.10

Monday, October 9, 2017 –  The rain has come in and settled here for a couple of days. I kind of like it.  We haven’t had rain here in some time so it’s nice to have had it these past couple of days.  It’s that time of the month to do my statistical monthly end reports.  I foresee me getting these out of the way this week and just trying to maintain.  I may not be moving much but at least my eating is still good.  Miles Moved: 1.14

Tuesday, October 10, 2017 –  aarrghh – I can’t believe I didn’t put on my Apple i-Watch this morning.  I felt so naked all day and had to depend on my i-Phone to calculate my movements throughout the day.  I have been one of *those* people – addicted to their i-Watch LOL.  Miles Moved: 1.00

Wednesday, October 11, 2017 –  The paperwork continues at work.  Should be finished with everything tomorrow.  The hub unit is doing so much better – yay!  He just has a mild cough now and that is getting better each day – thank goodness.  Miles Moved: 1.10

Thursday, October 12, 2017 –  YES!  Finished the month end paperwork.  Now I can breathe.  It’s 4 weeks from yesterday until my surgery.  It’s getting closer.  I’m getting my medical compression garments in now, trying to clean the house, trying to get some meals frozen that will be easy to put in the oven to warm up and tying up loose ends for the time I will be out of work.    Miles Moved: 1.32

Friday, October 13, 2017 –  Trying to  play catch up at work with things that took a second seat while finishing month end reports.  I’m so ready for the weekend!  Miles Moved: 0.67

Saturday, October 14, 2017 –  Ran a few errands today to get out with Jim.  I’m still trying to find a bed rest for my bed to use after surgery.  Any ideas where I can get one?  They use to be everywhere and now they are hard to find.  It’s the bed rest cushion/pillow that you lean against in bed to sit up and read, etc.  I can’t lay flat for a while so I thought this pillow might help a bit.    Miles Moved: 0.55

This week walked: 6.88

Journey with Friends – Week 40

Welcome my friends to our weekly issue of Journey with Friends.  This is a time that we come together for support, for encouragement, for fellowship – all with one single goal in mind – to live better.  Welcome to our journey to share our goals and our accomplishments and our disappointments and frustrations.

Together we can do this!

Sunday, October 1, 2017 –  Did not even put my i-Watch on today to track anything.  Why?  It’s hard to track anything when all  you are doing is laying in bed – LOL.  The man child was sick therefore we stayed down most of the day together trying to feel better.  Miles Moved: -0-

Monday, October 2, 2017 –  Day 2 of the man child being sick continues – LOL.  He may not make it.  It must be something serious because he’s on death’s door.  You know nothing tastes right.  He’s sneezing.  His eyes are running.  OMG – he has a COLD!  Call the authorities.  Call Hazmat – LOL.  Seriously the poor guy has a lot going on and just needs his teddy bear and his mother if she was still alive – bless her heart.  Not moving much today.  Just taking care of the sick. 🙂 Miles Moved: 1.17

Tuesday, October 3, 2017 –  Man child is still sick but moving more.  He has no sense of humor during this time so I hold my breath and count to three a lot – LOL.  He requested soup tonight – specifically chicken noodle soup.  I made him some like the good wife I am – quit laughing.  Gave him a bowl and it was too hot.  Put an ice cube in it.  Then it was too cold.  Warmed it up a bit.  Then it didn’t have any taste.  Put some additional pepper in it.  Then it was too spicy.  Added more stock.  He then ate it and went back to bed.  Will I make it through these trying times?   I had called our family doctor earlier and she called in some medicine for the man child and gave me her condolences – she knows the man child too well.  After dinner, I medicated the man child.  First time both of us slept the entire night all week.  I love our doctor.  Miles Moved: 1.63

Wednesday, October 4, 2017 –  Came home from work and the house was semi-destroyed.  Just how can anipals and a sick man child make such a mess when all they are doing is laying in the bed all day?  Breathed in, cleaned up and kept smiling.  Man child wanted actual food tonight.  He might survive this after all.  Made him some eggs and toast.  He actually enjoyed it.  Miles Moved: 1.36

Thursday, October 5, 2017 –  Day 5 of the man child being sick.  Please God help me get to Friday this week.  I need a weekend to recoup from his sickness.  Man child wanted Moe’s for dinner.  He’s not running a fever anymore – thank goodness.  We went to Moe’s.  He ate most of his dinner.  I’m impressed.  I might be getting my husband back soon.  Miles Moved: 1.32

Friday, October 6, 2017 –  I don’t think I’ve ever wanted a Friday so badly. We are both in desperate need of a long weekend of nothing – just resting.  Weekend – bring it.  I am so ready!  Miles Moved: 0.98

Saturday, October 7, 2017 –   Being a couch potato becomes me – LOL. No really I have to get moving next week.  Surgery is scheduled one month from tomorrow.  Miles Moved: -0-

Thoughts for the week:  This week there was sickness at the Hotel Thompson.  It’s okay.  Sometimes you need to slow down, let your body rest and just ‘be’.  That was one of those weeks.  Next week, we bump it up a notch.

Together we can do this!

Sunday, September 10, 2017 –  Lots of errands today but also lots of rest 🙂  There will be time for a lot more walking in the week. Miles Moved: 0.80

Monday, September 11, 2017 –  Thank you Hurricane Irma.  Thanks to you, work was called out today.  Which the only thing good that you brought was today off so I could finally pack for my trip.  Australia here I come.  Miles Moved: 1.25

Tuesday, September 12, 2017 –  Go day!  Airports are busy.  Atlanta Hartsfield Jackson Airport is huge.  First part of the trip, Delta Airlines Atlanta to Los Angeles, California.  I have never moved so fast running through an airport in my entire life.  Oh my goodness.  All of the training I’ve been doing paid off today.  What a run!   Miles Moved: 3.23

Wednesday, September 13, 2017 –  The good thing about today is this – we skipped today in traveling – LOL.  You see Australia is what like 14 hours ahead of us so in flying we kind of skipped over Wednesday right into Thursday.  And really how much walking could you have gotten on the plane anyway, right?  Miles Moved: 0.15

Thursday, September 14, 2017 –  Life in the air… no walking here.  We sat and watched movies and walked a bit to/from the bathroom but that was about it.  My behind was beyond asleep by the time we got to the land down under!  But what an awesome time it will be for the next week. Miles Moved: 0.54

Friday, September 15, 2017 –  Happy Anniversary to us and Happy Birthday to Bacon.  What an awesome way to celebrate our anniversary today but in Australia.  Game plan – lots of walking, sight seeing and a great anniversary dinner tonight with friends.  Miles Moved: 2.69

Saturday, September 16, 2017 –  What an awesome day!!  Let me tell you something, Fozziemom can cook!  Today all of her kids were over and she cooked the bestest meal ever.  It was simply delicious.  Not much moving around except walks around the property looking for kangaroos – LOL.  They know I’m here so they are hiding.    Miles Moved: 1.86

Sunday, September 17, 2017 –  Today we went through some older mining areas in Australia. What a beautiful place but so very sad!  So many people gave up everything to start their lives mining for gold and then lost everything never getting what they came for.  So sad!     Miles Moved: 3.38

Monday, September 18, 2017 –  So many places to explore in such a short time.  How will I ever see everything?  Is it even possible?  LOL – Of course not.  But we are going to try our best for sure. Miles Moved: 3.15

Tuesday, September 19, 2017 –  Slow rest day today.  We are going to need it – lots of things planned for the rest of the week.  Miles Moved: 1.31

Wednesday, September 20, 2017 –  Yarra Valley here we come – LOL.  The Yarra Valley has lots of places to explore – dairies, chocolate shop, and we are staying tonight at Oscars on the Yarra.  What an absolutely beautiful place!  So quiet.  You can just sit and relax.  Close your eyes and just listen to the different birds, relax and destress forgetting everything.  What a beautiful place!  Miles Moved: 3.06

Thursday, September 21, 2017 –  Today’s agenda – Healesville Sanctuary.  What a beautiful sanctuary.  I never thought I would get so up/close personal with so many beautiful Australian animals.  Absolutely wonderful day here.  Miles Moved: 4.55

Friday, September 22, 2017 –   Can you believe that this is the last full day here in Australia.  It has gone by so fast!  Today we visit the Yarra Valley Diary and the Yara Chocolaterie.   I may never fit on the airplane going back to the USA ever again – LOL.   Miles Moved: 3.37

Saturday, September 23, 2017 –  We leave this morning.  What an absolutely amazing time we have spent in Australia.  I will never forget my time here.  Now I prepare for the long plane ride home.  YAY!  Miles Moved: 1.58

Thoughts for the week:  Even though we were traveling in an amazing place, we still got some exercise in.  AND I didn’t do too bad eating.  In fact, who can say they go on vacation to an amazing place like Australia and end up LOSING weight?  In the past couple of weeks, I lost 8 pounds.  Amazing!  Still on plan and working towards my goal.  Thanks my friends ❤

Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad

20130910-075632.jpg

Once upon a time, there was a cute little boy and a cute little girl.  They grew up relatively in the same area not too far away from each other.

20130910-075622.jpg

You know what they say about three degrees of separation?  It was the same in this situation.  They knew some of the same people.  He went to a private Christian school that she attended church at during the week.  They ate at some of the same restaurants. For all they knew, they might have passed each other during their childhood.  It was possible.

They grew up,  went through school and college.  Until one day, the girl applied for a job at a business that changed the course of her life.  She was interviewed by the mother of the boy who took an immediate liking to the girl.  In fact the liking was so much that the mother hired the girl for the job having a secret agenda.  The secret agenda was to have her son meet this girl and fall in love.

The mother introduced them and they went to lunch together for the first time on September 14,  1988.  It was an immediate chemistry and love was in the air.  The young boy courted the young girl throughout the years doing everything together.  There would be times that one wanted to get married but the other didn’t at the time and vice versa.  Not that they didn’t love each other but because they had things they wanted to get done first.  You know the things in life like finishing college and getting a solid paying job.  But throughout this time, families merged and got to know each other.

The young couple courted for 16 years.  Yes my friends, that is not a typo.  Life was good.  What was the rush?  They grew up and got set in their ways.  She bought a home and was taking care of herself and he was taking care of his parents and helping them.

Then on Valentine’s day February 14, 2004, the young man got down on one knee and asked THE question, “Will you marry me?”  The young girl was shocked and amazed.  Her response, “What’s the rush?”  A sense of humor that has maintained throughout their relationship – that’s a good thing.

The young girl accepted.  A date was discussed.  Sadly, the mother of the young man had passed away over the years.  In honor of her, they made a date for September 15, 2004.

20130910-075717.jpg

Now, this is the fun part.  Two lives merged as one into ONE household.  They said their I do‘s and moved in together for the first time.  What a wake up call!  PLOL (pig laughing out loud).

Today marks their 13th wedding anniversary or 29 years of being together.  Was it easy – nope.  Has their been good times and bad times – of course.  Every marriage has bumps in the road.  It’s how you travel over the bumps to the other side that makes a long lasting relationship.  It also helps that both of them have a really wicked sense of humor.  I mean look at me.  Who do you know would adopt a pig in their lives?  Enough said on that.

So today, we at the Hotel Thompson would like to wish mom and dad a Happy Anniversary.  Here’s to another 29 years of being together!

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres.

1 Corinthians 13:4-7

Together we can do this!

Sunday, September 3, 2017 –  Day of rest – LOL.  My RA is trying to really fight me these days.  I’m going to win though.  As soon as this RA realizes that, I will be fine.  So for today, I’m treating myself nice.  I plan on resting today/tomorrow.  I need the rest.  This hurt has to go away.  I have way too many things to get done this week.  Why?  Well there is a certain surprise that will be revealed the end of next week.  Curious?  LOL   Miles Moved: 0.80

Monday, September 4, 2017 –  Rest…rest… and more rest.  Okay I did do some things like housework, laundry and quality time with the babies.  And I did schedule in a nap somewhere in the day.  My RA pain is about a 7 today compared to off the charts last week.  My hips hurt so bad they feel like they can break.  I’m moving slowly but I am moving today.  That’s always a good sign.  Miles Moved: 0.79

Tuesday, September 5, 2017 –  I’m being nice to myself this week for lots of reasons.  The flare up is still here.  I felt like for a bit today I was trying to get a cold.  But then again, that could be from my immune system being challenged.  Then we have our ‘surprise’ coming up.  I need to be 100% for this surprise.  It will all be revealed soon.  Just be a little bit more patient my friends ❤ Miles Moved:  1.13

Wednesday, September 6, 2017 –  Irma the Hurricane needs to go away like NOW.  It’s going to interfere with a lot of things if it hits this far inland.  That’s all I can say right now.  Boo Irma! Miles Moved: 1.28

Thursday, September 7, 2017 –  Okay Hurricane Irma is not looking good at all anywhere.  Hurricanes suck big time.  It’s already leaving such tragedy in the bahamas.  Why?  Why do we have to  have these horrible things of nature?  Miles Moved: 1.73

Friday, September 8, 2017 –  Lots of work today.  These papers are not going to get moved off of my desk by themselves.   Miles Moved: 1.31

Saturday, September 9, 2017 –  Spa day for the Houdini – he so needs it.  Then it’s some finalization with some businesses for the surprise.  It’s going to be a busy day.  Miles Moved: 1.19

Thoughts for the week:  Can you feel that my friends?  The BIG surprise will be revealed towards the end of next week.  It’s huge.  Well, it’s huge for us.  I think everyone will be shocked.  I can’t believe we’ve been planning this since Christmas and that none of us have spilled the beans.  Soon my friends.  Soon all will be revealed.
