First off, let’s talk about the most important bowl game today – Puppy Bowl. The show starts promptly at 3PM on the Animal Planet. If you’ve never seen the Puppy Bowl, you really need to watch it today. It is totally awesome and keeps me busy cheering for hours. Daddy has his game later today (which I’ll tell you about in a minute) and I have my game with the Puppy Bowl.
And don’t think that the Puppy Bowl is just about a lot of puppies on the screen doing nothing. There’s actually a referee, puppy touchdowns, penalties, timeouts and substitutions. That’s right – it’s a Puppy Bowl to see!
The rules are easy. Puppies go on the field and when a puppy drags one of the football shaped toys into the end zone, a puppy touchdown is declared. If a puppy has an accident on the field by ‘going to the bathroom’, a penalty is called. If the water bowls need to be refilled or puppies get into a fight, timeouts are called. And, you know what they call it when the puppies get into squabbles? Unnecessary rrruuufffness. Snorts. And if the puppies fall asleep, substitutions are sent in to play.
Over the years, they’ve had different ‘cheerleaders’. In the past, I’ve seen hedgehogs, bunny cheerleaders, chicken cheerleaders and my favorite in 2012 was the Piggy Pep Squad. Personally, I think they need to bring the Piggy Pep Squad back. I would *so* want to try out for the team. I think I have what it takes. I have the look. I have the chemistry. I have the personality. I can dance.
But if the Puppy Bowl doesn’t it do it for you, you can always wait for dad’s game later today at 6:30PM. THE Super Bowl. Two really good teams will be going head to head – New England Patriots vs Philadelphia Eagles.

And don’t forget the half time show on the Super Bowl either. This year they are going to have Justin Timberlake performing.
And the other thing about the Super Bowl, you *have* to watch the commercials. They are usually the most hilarious commercials to remember for the night. So my friends, get your snacks and drinks ready. Go to the potty early so you can enjoy all of the fun today. Get comfy on the couch. I’m going to be watching the shows all day long. And hopefully, mom will pop me some popcorn.
Are you ready for some football!?

This year, we have extra shout outs for the Atlanta Falcons since they are our home team. Rise Up!! Who will you be cheering for? Are you pulling for Tom Brady or Matt Ryan?
And don’t forget the half time show on the Super Bowl either. This year they are going to have Lady Gaga performing.

Oh friends – I hope that you have had a fantastic week. I know we have since mom has been home from the worky place this past week. We have all snuggled and slept and cuddled and slept some more. I think mom is getting a lot of rest this week which is awesome to all of us anipals.
I do have to share something that mom/dad found this week. They went out yesterday morning for a little bit of this thing called Black Friday. No way I was getting up out of my nice comfortable bed at the time they left the Hotel Thompson. But somewhere along the way, dad ordered some reindeer pancakes. They looked just like this picture. Can you imagine eating Rudolph? No way! Not even this piggy has the nerve to eat Santa’s head reindeer. That has to put dad on Santa’s naughty list – I’m just saying.
And don’t worry – I am especially glad this time that dad didn’t bring me home a piggy bag – snorts. But on the other hoof, mom did. And let me tell you – it was fantastic.
.
What
did mom bring me? Pancake puppies. Enough said? I think not – squeals. These look like hush puppies but they are not – they are made with pancake batter and called puppies. They are served with syrup which mom/dad went with sugar free syrup. I on the other hoof prefer them plain and simple – straight up if you will. And I will tell you something – they are fantastic!
So did you eat anything exciting over the holiday? Anything that makes you go hhmm I would like to have some more of that? Do share my friends – do share! And have a fantastic day!

Over the years, they’ve had different ‘cheerleaders’. These little cute hedgehogs holding pom-poms were a huge hit last year. I’m kind of hoping they make a comeback this year. Aren’t they just adorably cute?! In the past, they’ve also had bunny cheerleaders, chicken cheerleaders and my favorite in 2012 was the Piggy Pep Squad. Dear Bacon,
If it’s good enough to put the crying thing in to settle them down, why can’t I get in it too? It seems like the screaming miniature human gets a lot of attention in this contraption. I don’t seem to be getting the same kind. Why? Can you explain that to me? Signed Dogsad
Dear Dogsad,
Aaww – you poor thing. I’m really sorry that you feel left out. I really am. Right now though, your humans are going through a lot with the small human. This will pass when they don’t have to be so fussy with them. You just be patient and stay cute my friend.
.

Dear Bacon,
This means WAR! There I was hanging out on the sofa after a really rough day of chasing the mailman and squirrels. I was minding my own business, had my feet popped up and was enjoying a nice glass of 2012 Francis Ford Coppola Pinot Noir. Then the lights started flashing. My dad took this picture of me and put it all over the internet – he’s even talking about Christmas cards?! I will be ruined! What can I do? Signed Sparky
Dear Sparky,
Give me a second friend… snorts and squeals ridiculously loud in a paper bag. Okay, I’m back. Breathes in to get my bearing. What you need to do Sparky is get a hold of that camera. Delete the picture is tops. Then you need to get on the human’s computer and start deleting. I would wait until the humans all asleep and then pounce into action.
.
Dear Bacon,
If you’re happy and you know it, throw your hooves in the air. If you’re happy and you know it, look so cute. If you’re happy and you know it then your face will surely show it. If you’re happy and you know it, throw your hooves in the air! Signed Cute as a Lamb
Dear Cute as a Lamb,
I’m off now to throw my hooves up in the air! You look as adorable as well me! Have a great one my friend and thanks for sharing!
.
.
Dear Bacon,
When the humans asked me if I wanted a pancake and I said yes, this is not what I meant. I wanted a pancake to eat not wear. What in the world were they thinking?! Signed Panbunny
Dear Panbunny,
I could teach you a trick with that pancake sitting on your head my friend. My daddy taught me how to flip it off of my head and into my mouth. You can do it – I know you can! Happy eats.
.
Dear Bacon,
SQUEAL! Look what I made! Mini-me’s! Aren’t they just too cute?! Signed Surprised
Dear Surprised,
They are totally adorable my friend!! So very cute. They look just like you… well except for the bright eyed, bushy tailed, surprise look – snorts.

Dear Bacon,
This is my mini-me. Okay I know he’s not exactly a mini-me because I’m a pooch and he’s a kitty but we look the same which is what really is a mini-me, right? I pity the fool that messes with my mini-me. They have to get through me first. What do you think? Signed Me
Dear Me,
That is adorable that you have a cute little friend that you protect. We all need protectors in this day and time.
.
Dear Bacon,
Stomps back feet. It just isn’t fair. Nope. It’s not. The other bun buns wanted to play hide and go seek. They told me to cover my eyes and start the count down and I did. They left me like this for hours. Can you believe that? Signed Counting
Dear Counting,
You poor bun bun. Did they tell you that you count to a certain number and then you go search for them who are hiding? Shakes piggy head. Some people can be so unfair. Don’t you worry about them. You’ll get them next time okay sweet friend.
.
.
Dear Bacon,
Somehow I don’t believe that this outfit does me justice. My humans think that it is just so adorable but I think it’s so yesterday. What do you think? Signed Uptown Kitty
Dear Uptown Kitty,
You do look absolutely adorable in your outfit my friend. I can’t really say that it’s yesterday. I mean, look at the the rhinestones on the pocket. Aren’t shiny things one of your favorites? I think *you* make that outfit my friend. I say wear it with pride!
.
.
.
Dear Bacon,
What? You’ve never seen two pugs asleep in bed together? It’s our comfy spot. We could both sleep like this for hours at a time. We love our little bed… just like you love your bed. Signed Two Pugs in a Pod
Dear Two Pugs in a Pod,
Hey, I’m not saying anything. If you have a comfy bed, I say go for it. I’m ALL about comfort while one is sleeping. And trust me, I do my share of beauty sleep. Carry on my friends! Sweet dreams!
.
.
Dear Bacon,
Our human insists on us getting some play time in together. I’m not sure this is what we thought the play time would be though. I can’t get my leg up on this pole to save my life. My little belly gets in the way. What’s a dog to do? Signed Pole Play
Dear Pole Play,
I’m afraid I can’t help you there my friends. Looks down at my pot belly. My pot belly would no way in this entire world let me lift my leg that high. No way. Not going to happen. I just say run around the studio and have fun. That’s exercise, right?

Are you ready for some football? The Super Bowl is like the big game of the year. It’s the icing on the cake. It’s the whole enchilada. Its the cherry on top of the sundae. It’s the big game. Do you understand? It’s like me getting a bedtime treat of apples, bananas and strawberries all at the same time. Shivers…give me a moment.
Okay…I’m back. So the Super Bowl will be hosted in New Orleans, Louisiana. I have relatives in Louisiana. My Aunt Tina, Uncle Wayne and my cousins Savannah, Maverick and Sherlock Bones.
The big game will be between The Baltimore Ravens and the San Francisco 49ers.

The game should be exciting because of the football but there’s also a twist in the Super Bowl. Ravens coach John Harbaugh is the brother to the 49ers coach Jim Harbaugh. Neat huh? What are the chances that would happen? One way or the other, a Harbaugh is going to win and bring home the championship.
Halftime festivities will be performed by the glamorous Beyonce. I know there are some of us that watch the Super Bowl for the game. But, there are others that watch it for the halftime performance and the new awesome commercials. I like it all – especially the snack foods that come with the game. That’s probably my favorite – snort.

And let’s not forget the puppy bowl that will be on the Animal Planet. The puppy bowl is simple. Ten puppies at a time play on the field that is three yards wide by six yards long. When a pup drags one of the chew toys into either end zone, a score is recorded. And while they don’t get any breaks for sports drinks, they can re-hydrate with a water bowl on the 10-yard line. In the end, one dog is crowned MVP (Most Valuable Puppy), but really everyone wins. There will be a complimentary kitten half time show. I think next year we need to request pigs on this show… I can entertain.
There’s your Sunday highlights. What will you be watching? Hogs and kisses – Bacon
