Happy National Cereal Day

March 7 is NATIONAL CEREAL DAY.. you know breakfast cereal. Did you know that cereal is the most convenient form of breakfast? It’s quick and easy. Get a bowl, pour cereal, top with milk and enjoy! And, there’s so many different kinds of cereal out there! You can add fruit to it. You can top it with nuts or raisins. You can top it with granola. You can even add honey, maple syrup or crushed fruit. However you eat it, it can be a delicious way to start your day or end your day.

Now, I know this is going to be hard to believe but hang with me for just a minute.  That pig – you know the one they call Bacon on this blog.  This is a picture of his piggy chow in his breakfast bowl that he gets every morning.  Do you know what the little oinker has on top of his piggy chow?  Anyone – anyone at all?  Cheerios!  Can you believe that?!  Even Bacon will be enjoying this day like all others with a topping of Cheerios on his piggy chow.  He doesn’t care what kind, he likes them all!  Regular, chocolate, banana nut, multi-grain, dulce de leche, peanut butter – all of them!

I mean think about it.  Cheerios are not just for the heart conscious adults – it’s for the little man too.  He has to watch his heart and health so he can be here for a very long time as well.  Bacon and his mom eat their Cheerios together every morning… of course his mother doesn’t have piggy chow added to hers which is good to know.

So on this National Cereal Day, enjoy a nice bowl of cereal – perhaps even Cheerios and think about the little pig.

I’m a Happy Pig

This weekend started off like every other weekend.  We slept in a little – okay I slept in a lot.  I was tired from that little pooch – you know performing my nightly ritual of subliminal messaging to him is hard work – snorts with piggy laughter.  This morning, I just couldn’t get up and get going for breakfast.  So mom did something wonderful… something terrific… something special for this little oinker.  She served *moi* breakfast in bed.  Can I get an aaww or perhaps a hallelujah? Of course – these bananas were just the start.  You know how much I ❤ my bananas.  But no, the main star was something else.

.

20130624-224116.jpg  Of course daddy grunted because he doesn’t get breakfast in bed – snorts.  Before I snarfed it down, I had to take a picture of mom’s masterpiece to show you that the woman does have skills in the kitchen.  She made me a fresh spinach omelet on top of my piggy chow.  And let me add – it was so piggy lip licking good!  You want a bite, don’t you?  Go ahead.  You can admit it.

Cheers my friends for a happy rest of the day.

Perhaps I’ll sleep in tomorrow to see if I get piggy pancakes – licks lips just thinking about it!

I’m a Lucky Oinker

No, really.  I can admit it.  I’m a lucky oinker.  I love my life here at the Hotel Thompson. The room service is awesome!  You don’t believe me?

This morning before work, mommy actually got up and fixed breakfast.  Omelets for everyone is what she said – snorts.  She fixed daddy his omelet and then made me my special omelet – look at that delicacy – it should be in a magazine ❤  It’s a spinach and two egg omelet.  Is your mouth dripping now in desire?

And mom put it on top of my piggy chow.  I’m telling you – this is the breakfast of champions… champion pigs that is 🙂  I LOVE it when my mommy cooks my food.  How could you not, right?

But don’t worry, daddy fixes me food too.

.

This is a picture of my dinner plate that I got last night that daddy fixed me.  It looks mouth watering too, doesn’t it? It’s my piggy chow, lettuce, cucumbers, carrots, tomatoes and grapes.  All of my favorites.

See I eat really good and healthy here at the Hotel Thompson.  That’s how I’m able to maintain this sexy pot-belly 🙂  Snorts and Oinks!

Me and Food

Me and food – what can I say?  I ❤ food.  It’s what I live for.. well that and snuggles from mommy.  I thought today I would show you what I eat here at the Hotel Thompson.  Keep in mind that I might be just a tad bit spoiled… just a little okay.

This by all means does not happen every day or every weekend for that matter.  But, at times mommy cooks me my very own spinach omelet with piggy chow on the bottom of my piggy feed bowl.  Doesn’t it look delish?  Trust me, it is!

If I’ve been especially good, she will put on her cook hat and toss some eggs around.  Daddy gets one too – minus the piggy chow – snorts.

Most days though, I have a combination of Cheerios and piggy chow.

.

Here is my snack bowl that dad will fix me during the week at times.  You can see my piggy plate better in this picture.  Dad gives me rice cakes, carrots and grapes.  Again, not every day.

My snack during the day changes according to what is in the pantry here at the Hotel Thompson.  Looks good, huh?  Sometimes I have to watch daddy because he will eat my snacks as he fixes my plate – how could he huh?

.

For special occasions like my birthday, I get the platter of my dreams like this picture to the left.  Who needs a birthday cake when you have all of my favorites rolled up into one delicious piggy plate?

Bananas, strawberries, grapes and watermelon.  Licks lips!  Too bad birthdays only come once a year!

If I’m lucky, mommy will fix a tub of this deliciousness so I can eat on it the entire week.  Usually when she goes shopping, this is how she does my food.  She packages it for the week so all dad has to do is pull out a container for me.  It makes it easier for him since he takes care of me during the week when mommy is at the worky place.

.

This plate to the right is my normal dinner.  A great salad topped with carrots, tomatoes and piggy chow on the bottom.  I ❤ my dinner plate.  Doesn’t it look delicious.  You want some, don’t you?  Usually mommy will fix me my plate while she is fixing her salad.

And I love me some snacks.  I can be bought and persuaded to do almost anything with any of the following – Gold Fish (Crackers not sushi – snorts), animal crackers, an apple slice or okay – just about anything.

But for your amusement, there is a rule here at the Hotel Thompson. Don’t eat in front of the pig unless you plan on sharing with the pig.  Snorts – you’ll see once you look at this video.  Enjoy my friends and I hope you learned something about this little oinker that you didn’t know.

Tag Game – YAY Let’s PLAY!

My barky friend Easy over at http://easyweimaraner.wordpress.com/ ‘tagged’ me on the Tag Game.  (Thanks my fellow four legged friend – high five paw/hoove and snout kisses).  The tag game is kind of like getting an award without getting an award.  I know it sounds complicated but it’s really not.  Here’s the formula that I came up with:

No award = answer questions + ask questions = tag more peeps.

Make sense now?  pig snorts – I always work better with a visual – 🙂

So here are the rules to the Tag Game –

  1. Post these rules.  √ DONE
  2. Post a photo of yourself and 11 random facts about you.  √ See Below
  3. Answer the questions given to you in the tagger’s photo. √ See Below
  4. Create 11 new questions and tag new people to answer them. √ See Below
  5. Go to their blog and let them know they’ve been ‘tagged’. √

Random Facts About “ME”… the amazing Bacon 🙂

  1. I’m not really that ‘big’ like you see in the picture above.  The couch sits low and the angle of the picture makes it look like I’m ginormous… but I’m not.  I weigh a healthy 45 pounds which is really small compared to a regular pig that gets upwards 300 pounds!
  2. My tail gives me away every.single.time.  It’s such a magical item – my tail.  When I’m happy, I wag it like no tomorrow.  This happens when I eat, when mom calls my name or when I’m playing.  When it doesn’t wag and is at half staff – snort – I’m not too happy.  When it is at full staff, watch out because I’m fixing to potty – double snort.
  3. I speak human and mom speaks pig.  I know what she means when she tells me to go to my room, get ready for bed, get on the couch, come take a bath, etc.  She’s my mom – 🙂 I speak mom 100%
  4. Do you know how purr things and barky things mark items and get happy by rolling around on the floors?  I do the same thing.  Mom *always* laughs at me when I do that.  She thinks it’s a hoot.
  5. Just like regular ‘kids’, I have chores.  I have to help clean my room and I have to help bring my laundry to the laundry room.  And, I have to take care of Bashful – that’s almost a full time job!
  6. I eat Cheerios for breakfast with my piggy chow every morning.  It keeps me heart smart – what?  A pig has to watch his heart and cholesterol too.
  7. I eat a mixed salad every night for dinner with my piggy chow.  See, I eat healthy to maintain these handsome figure.
  8. One of my favorite all time snacks is popcorn.  Just the buttery smell of it, the sizzle of the kernels in the oil on the stove and the ‘pop-pop-pop’ sound gets me running from my bedroom all the way to the kitchen at the Hotel Thompson.  Mom always shares with me 🙂
  9. One of my favorite television shows to watch on television is called Wipeout.  I LOVE this show.  I jump on the couch, snuggle in with mom and watch the entire hour. It’s hilarious!  I highly recommend it.  I think they need to have a celebrity Wipeout.  That would be so much fun!  Oh and by the way, it helps that I have a MAJOR piggy crush on Jill Wagner – hubba hubba
  10. My Netflix account has a lot of ‘Who Done It”  shows in the que.  I love watching them as well on the ID channel (Investigative Discovery).  It’s kind of like the old game Clue.  I like to try to figure out who the culprit is before the end of the show.  Sometimes I do – sometimes I don’t.
  11. My favorite gameshow to watch on television is a tie between Jeopardy with Alex Trebek and Family Feud with Steve Harvey.  They keep me on my toes.  Of course, that is a post on its own for the very near future 🙂

Questions Asked of Me –

  1. What’s the worst thing you had to eat?  This is easy – kumquats – the most vile thing in the world! Supposedly in theory, they have a sweet skin that you eat as well as a tart pulp.  Most pigs like them – I detest them.  Mom so wishes she could have gotten a picture of my face when I bit into one that she gave me.  My ears twitched up and she swears I made a face.  It was disgusting.  It’s the only thing that I have turned away food wise.  Amazing, huh?
  2. Do you like TV commercials?  I love television commercials – especially from my buddy Maxwell.  You know the famous man pig that does the Geico commercials.  He is a happening dude my friends!
  3. Have you ever wrote a love letter to a celebrity? Piggy blushes.  Yes I did.  I once wrote Miss Piggy a love letter telling her about my unswaying love for her.  She never replied and ran off with that amphibian that calls himself Kermit.  Love is so fickle my friends.
  4. What’s your favorite movie?  Don’t hate me when I say this but Muppet Twilight.  Mom got all worked up over the Twilight series and I thought this was way better.  Right?
  5. Do you like car driving by night? I don’t personally drive but mom does.  She *hates* driving at night.  And well, I don’t really like going out with her at night because you see pigs have really bad vision to begin with.  That and darkness doesn’t match.  And okay, I’m a little – LITTLE – afraid of the dark.  ssshh – don’t tell anyone.
  6. What’s your favorite ice cream?  I prefer any ice cream, maybe strawberry wins top notch.  Bashful likes  the rocky road ice cream.
  7. What’s the first thing you do in the morning?  I have to wizzy first thing in the morning – doesn’t everyone?
  8. Did you have posters on your wall as you were a teenager?  Which ones?  I have posters of Miss Piggy, Angry Birds, Three Little Pigs, etc on my walls.  Did you know when mom was a teenager she had a picture of King Tut on her wall?!  Can you believe that?  How nerdy was that?
  9. Can you play a musical instrument?  Which one?  Mom says I play the tuba when I eat too much cabbage.  I’m not sure what she means by that.
  10. If you were a teenager, would you join in casting shows?  I would love to be casted in a television show as well myself.  I think I could bring a lot of comedy to the show.  Don’t you think?
  11. Do you prefer to listen to music, watching television or nothing to fall asleep?  Usually mom tucks me in, sometimes she reads me a story or we watch a quick cartoon together.  Most of the time, I drift off asleep while she reads.

My Questions for My New Tags –

  1. What was the last movie you watched?
  2. What is your favorite game show on television?
  3. Small house vs. big house – which do you prefer?
  4. Mountains or beach – which do you prefer?
  5. Are you more of a day person or a night person?
  6. What is your favorite day of the week?
  7. Why is that (#6) your favorite day of the week?
  8. What is your favorite snack?
  9. What was your favorite show to watch as a teenager?
  10. Do you have chores?
  11. If so (#10), what kind?

Food for the Little Man

20130102-070120.jpgWell, let’s fly into the new year of 2013 – are you ready? I know I am. Mom was off of the worky place yesterday and I enjoyed it all day long! Of course, my little schedule is out of whack with her being off in the middle of the week but I’m not complaining. When mom is off, Bacon gets further spoiled 🙂

I let mom sleep in yesterday morning. I figured we were both up late the night before watching fireworks and we both needed our beauty sleep. Someone has to take care of mommy. When we 20130102-084304.jpgfinally got up, mom made magic in the kitchen. I love mornings like this. I got to try blueberries! She made blueberry pancakes – one of my new favorites. Something was oddly familiar with my pancake though. I couldn’t quite put my snout on it. And she used my favorite Sesame Street plate. The morning was starting off just pigawesome for me! Even dad oohhed and aawweedd about the blueberry pancakes. He said that he hasn’t had them in over 10 years! WOW – dad where have you been? These are the bestest!

Mom tinkered around in the kitchen afterwards cleaning up and putting dinner in the oven. I’m not sure what people food she was preparing but it really smelled the house up in a good way. I kept going around sniffing the air all day trying to figure out what it was. I was in pig h20130102-084313.jpgeaven!

For lunch, mom fixed me piggy chow and a fried egg! Did I mention that I like when mommy is home? She actually cooks for me. That’s why I love her so much. Just about as much as fried eggs and piggy chow. I ate my lunch, did a few laps around the house playing with Hemi and then jumped on the sofa with mom for some snuggle time. She was on her computer doing some writing and in between thought moments, she would rub my little belly – don’t laugh I know it’s not little – snort. We only got up one time to get water and potty. Other than that, it was mommy/piggy bonding time.

20130102-084321.jpg

Before I knew it, mom was waking me up for dinner. Where did the time go? Now, this is where mom is creative. I always get a salad with my piggy pellets at night. It’s something that’s always on my menu. But mom goes that extra little step and makes it special. This is my nightly salad from mom. Looks good doesn’t it? And of course it’s in my piggy plate. It has all of my favorites – piggy chow, lettuce, cherry tomatoes, carrots and grapes.

After I ate dinner, I went to my room for my piggy meditation time. I really need this time every day to relax and reflect on the days activities. During this time, I let mom and dad eat dinner in peace. Again, their food sure did smell good. And, I’ll tell you a secret. I know mom fixed black-eyed peas with rice because she let me try some 🙂 Even I need to start the year out eating the traditional foods!

After mom and dad got finished and I was done with my meditation, I went into the kitchen and supervised mom cleaning up the dishes. Dad was in the kitchen as well and he started you know play picking on mom. Mom jokingly said, “Bacon, daddy is picking on me. Get him.” Well, I did what she said. I went over to dad, stomped on his foot with my hoove and snouted his ankle. Hey, I gotta protect my mom. Mom thought it was funny. She praised me and gave me a treat. Dad on the other hand was fussy but in a fun way. He couldn’t believe that I protected mommy like that. It’s what I do. He should know that by now. Most people have protect dogs. Mom has a protect pig – snort bark! LOL

20130102-084326.jpgWe all went into the front room after the cleaning was done. Dad played with me a while before I jumped on the couch with mommy. We then watched this show on television called Finding Bigfoot. That is a cool show! I love Cliff Barackman, James “Bobo” Fay, Ranae Holland and Matt Moneymaker. They belong to this group called the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization and they look for the infamous Bigfoot every where that you can imagine. Their calls for bigfoot, what a hoot! I think my favorite one to make calls is Ranae. She is hysterical. I also like it when they say they hear or something is ‘squatchy’. I just snort my little tail off when they do that! I try to watch this show every week with mom.

Mom even popped some popcorn for us to snack on during the shows. And of course, after popcorn it was my bedtime. It was a week day and mom had to go back to the worky place the next day. I’ll miss her today.

Hope everyone has a great day!

Hogs and Kisses – Bacon
