Rocky’s Nut Brunch

Do you remember the cartoon The Flintstones?  It is often played here at the Hotel Thompson.  Bacon’s mom says it goes all the way back to her childhood way back in the 60’s.  Gulps.  That does tell Bacon’s moms age doesn’t it..ssshh we won’t tell her we said that.  Well the roll of Fred Flintstone was based off the character Ralph Kramden from the Honeymooners.  You know Ralph Kramden was played by Jackie Gleason.  Fred Flintstone’s character makes sense now, right?

Do you remember Fred’s catchphrase?  Yabba-Dabba-Doo!  In the original script, it called for Fred to just say, “Yahoo”.  Doesn’t have the same feel to it, does it?  Alan Reed was doing the voice over for Fred Flintstone at the time.  He said that his mother used to say, “A little dab’ll do ya”.  It doesn’t say if Reed ad-libbed the phrase or asked to change it to the ever knowing, “Yabba-Dabba-Doo!”, but it stuck and as they say… the rest is history.

Do you remember the other close characters in the show?  There was Wilma, Fred’s wife.  Then there was the close neighbors – Barney and Betty Rubble.  And let’s not forget the Loyal Order of Water Buffalos Lodge that Fred and Barney were members.  What a fun show it was.  I think I’m off now.  I gotta go catch up on Pebbles and Bam-Bam.

 

Guess Who Came Home?

You got it!  Bashful came home from his adventure visiting Sam from Tails Around the Ranch.  He has talked non-top about his fun times.  Cause you know some things that happened on his trip stay on the trip if you know what I mean.  Snorts with piggy laughter.  We had a rock party over the weekend to welcome him back home with his new ‘friend’.  That’s right my friends.  Bashful has brought yet another girl home.  Sighs – he is such a stud rock. ❤

Without further ado, please let me introduce you to Roxann.  Now Roxann is special.  Roaxnn is a naturalized rock via all the way from the beach in Cozumel.  Here’s the kicker.  Roxann is around 5,000 years old – stunner huh?  Who said with age comes disgrace.  Roxann is kicking it with her beautiful blonde hair, blue eyes and red lipstick.  Can you say hubba-hubba?  Her birthday is March 4th.

And here’s the kicker.  Sam found Roxann and Bashful in a corner snickering one day.  When they were asked what they were doing, they both blushed to the high heavens.  And when the box came to my crib, they were both snickering too.  But this time, they were in separate compartments in their packaging.  That might be good because who wants to see gravel appearing in 9 months?  Snorts with piggy laughter – I’m too young to be a grandpa again.

So my dear sweet friend Sam – thank you so much for hosting my little guy.

What Has Bashful Been Doing Lately?

Bashful is still visiting my buddy Speedy in the United Kingdom.  He is having the bestest of all time.  He’s been hanging out with Pebbles – Speedy’s pet rock friend.  They are awesome.  And Speedy is still walking his humans on their leash – snorts – that kills me!  I absolutely ❤ it!

Speedy took Bashful back to the Cadover Bridge.  It is so beautiful there!  You gotta check out their story and see the gorgeous pictures.  And while you are there, check out Speedy walking his humans – 🙂

Bashful’s Adventures

Bashful is having an awesome time with my friend Speedy in the United Kingdom. Can you believe that throughout his adventures, he still found time to get help and to send me a Father’s Day card??  Look at it above – it touched my little heart so much.  It was the first thing that me and mommy looked at yesterday.  Thanks Speedy!!

Speedy is showing Bashful such a great time.  Please be sure to check out their adventures on their blog.  Here is just a couple of pictures they have posted.  That is the most adorable bed that little Bash is getting to sleep in at night – I ❤ it!  It looks so comfy.  And the other picture – aaww – Speedy’s mom/dad took him out to visit a stream.  WOW – he got to meet some of his ancestors!  So very cool.  Cause you know – Bashful’s dad was a rolling stone but his mommy was a brook pebble!

Being the Responsible One

I feel the humans now – it’s hard being a good parent!

Mom says for me to hang in there and once Bashful gets his ‘baby phase’ behind him he will be better.  I’m not sure that’s possible.  And what if I’m doing this all wrong?  What if he turns out like his dad, a rolling stone, or gets involved in a bad rock band? 

Sometimes I feel like I never get enough rest.  Having kids is hard!  I feel like a zombie pig on same days and just go through the motions so I can finally get back in bed.  It does get better, right?

I’ve been so tired lately that I even gave mom a hard time last night.  I was being fussy with her and she understands.  She sat me down and we talked about it.  It’s all about love.  I feel better after our talk and took a nap.  Mom helped out with Bashful for a little bit and took him for a walk.  He was a lot better afterwards too.  I guess she wore him out because when they got back, he was out like a light and slept a solid 8 hours for a change.  That was such a relief!

Bashful is doing better.  He’s gotten accustomed to living at the Hotel Thompson.  He’s practically house trained now and doesn’t have any accidents.  He rolls around the house and plays with the purr things a lot.  Sometimes he gets a little rough and I have to break things up.  He got into the cereal the other night and ate an entire box of Fruity Pebbles.  It was all over the floor.  But this little hoover cleaned everything up before mom went into the kitchen.  The hard part is trying to keep him on a schedule.  And, dad has taught him Rock, Paper, Scissors.  Shakes head, he always picks paper for some reason.   

So my friends, help me out here.  Any words of encouragement for raising Bashful to be the best “s t o n e” he can be?  Thanks my friends – XOXO – Bacon
