Paw Time with Houdini

Hey my friends and welcome to another week of my Paw Time with Houdini.  Things have been a little scattered around here lately.  Summer is right around the corner and with that comes heat – which the oinker hates and I can’t blame him one tiny little bit.  Also some has a birthday coming up in a couple of weeks – whistles and looks all innocent and cute.  Mom has started her DIEt thingy again and is making daddy do it with her.  This is hilarious – why do you ask?  Cause mommy whines.  I know!  I didn’t know that either.  But apparently here and this thing called chocolate have a love/hate relationship.  Mommy loves it but she hates what it does to her butt.  Barks!  Anyone else have that problem?

A while back my friends Samuel and Wallace sent all of us a care package here at the Hotel Thompson.  One of the things they sent was pupcorn.  I gotta tell you, I absolutely ❤ that stuff!  Mommy puts it in a little dish for me and her and dad will let me eat out of it after dinner.  Oh my puppy!  It’s so good!  But I eat politely.  I take one little piece from the container, eat it and then go back for more.  All during this time, my sweet daddy will hold the container for me.  Isn’t that awesome?!

And don’t worry, daddy also gives the purr things and the oinker a piece here/there as well.  And yep, they love it too.  We love eating this pupcorn when our favorite movies come on the Animal Planet.  Who wouldn’t, right?  So my friends Samuel and Wallace – thank you bunches and bunches from all of us anipals here at the Hotel Thompson  – Ya’ll rock!

And another funny thing.  I’m a Yorkshire Terrier and we can be known for being how shall I say this – more active than a runner in a marathon – barks!  I’m on the constant go-go-go, running around the Hotel Thompson, jumping off the pig like he’s my personal trampoline and chasing the purr things – or them chasing me!

Well when I land, I land HARD.  Mommy says I sleep like a rock at times.  Daddy says that when I sleep, I’m his little angel – barks!  But don’t worry – when I sleep, I’m dreaming of the things I love to do… like running some more!

.

Well that’s all for me my friends – yawns – I hope you had a wonderful week as well.  Happy weekend!

Subliminal Messaging

Hello my friends.  I have a question for you on this early Monday morning of the first of June.  Have you ever loved a certain food that you just couldn’t get enough of it?  I mean, like you dreamed of it and wanted to jump in butt naked and eat your way out… oh wait a minute.  Not that I would ever do that but you get the drift, right?

Well, I might and I stress might feel that way about a certain food called Gold Fish.  They are little crackers shaped like little goldfish.  Cute huh? Well I can’t get enough of them.  They are so tasty.  I like the way they crunch in my mouth.  AND they come in different colors and flavors.  My favorite one at this time is cheese.

Whenever mom is not looking, I always write them down on her grocery list.  I know.  That’s so sweet of me, isn’t it?  That just shows you exactly how much talent this little oinker has. Speaking of talents.  I have a lot more talents than what you think.  For instance, I left this message in the kitchen for mom this morning.  I knew it would be the first thing she saw when she got up this morning.  Perhaps maybe she will get the drift that someone likes Gold Fish?  You think?

Thank *YOU* My Friends

Monday night I hit a milestone in my blog.  Something that this little oinker thought he would never see.

My friends – this could not have happened without YOU!  YOU read my ramblings.  Listen to me.  Participate with me.  YOU make my day.  My aim on my blog is just to make people laugh… maybe wee on themselves just a tiny bit.  I want to bring happiness to your day.  A little laughter.  Something that takes away your sorrow and brings a smile to your face.  Something that when you see a pig or hear a oink, you think of me… little ole Bacon from the Hotel Thompson.

Without YOU, none of this could happen.  I want to bring your happiness but let me tell you my friends.  YOU bring me happiness.  YOU make me smile.  YOU have taught me to overcome the obstacles and there is nothing that can hold this oinker back.  If I can dream it, I can become it.

Thank YOU for being my friend and visiting my blog.  I ❤ you ALL to the moon and back!

My Bedtime

Bedtime at the Hotel Thompson is really a good time for me.  You’re probably thinking, “What is that pig talking about now?”  You see, I’m a kid at heart but when it comes to bedtime mommy makes it fun.  Therefore, I don’t mind going to bed.  Does that make sense now to you?  No?  Okay, here’s the scoop.

When mommy tells me it’s bedtime and to go get ready for bed, I usually jump off of the sofa where I’ve been sitting with her and stumble down the hall to my bedroom.  I do my business on my wizzy pad, yawn a couple of times and jump in bed.  Then mom comes in, tucks me in and reads me a story until I fall asleep.  See picture to the left – that’s me all smiling from my bedtime story.  And yes, that’s my favorite king size Egyptian cotton sheet.  I ❤ that sheet!

Then after I’m asleep, sometimes mom goes into the connecting room to my bedroom.  She turns on her little pink light and keeps the door open so she can see me.  And yes I said pink light – snorts.  She likes the ‘lightness’ of the lamp and you know the full light would wake this little oinker.  Then she starts her writing.  Now, when she does this you would think that it would wake me up but it doesn’t.  It’s kind of like when humans fall asleep with the fan on in their bedroom.  It’s what they call ‘white noise’ and helps you sleep.  And if mom is working up a storm, the tap-tap-tap of the keyboard is like this ‘white noise’ to me.  It kind of comforts me.  For you to experience it this ‘white noise’, I had mom record it for you.  Tell me what you think.  Is it comforting to you?

Help.

Can someone please explain to me what this is and why mommy wants one?  It looks familiar but I can’t put my snout on why.  It’s in mom’s wishlist on her Amazon account.  I don’t get it.  It looks like a giant pink thingy with buck shots in it.  Anyone… anyone all tell me what this imposter for mom’s attention does or is and why she wants.  And between us, it looks ridiculous.  Look at that tail?  It’s not even as handsome as mine – humph.  And why is wanting my mom’s attention?  I’m sorry.  I refuse to share my mom with this – this – holey want to be.  Snorts.

National Yellow Pig Day

Journalist Rocky the Squirrel here –

Keeping my paws on the nuts of the world

.

Hallelujah! Can you believe they make a holiday for this little oinker we have here at the Hotel Thompson called Bacon? It’s not enough that he’s a spoiled little tyke, now he has holidays. It’s certainly a great reason to celebrate with Bacon – we’ll take that any day.

National Yellow Pig Day is today, July 17th. This is not to be confused with National Pig Day celebrated on March 1st every year. Are you wondering what the difference is between the two pig day holidays? Let me explain it to you 🙂

National Pig Day on March 1st, recognizes and appreciates domesticated pigs, like Bacon. Pot-bellied pigs are often found in petting zoos and sometimes they can be found in regular every day homes like at the Hotel Thompson as members of the family. (I would say as pets but we all know that Bacon has gone beyond that category and is now a ‘member’ of the family. Some would say a child.) I’m sure you already know due to Bacon’s blog here that pigs are highly clever and intelligent animals. They will focus in on one thing until they accomplish whatever they are trying to do. Pigs like Bacon can learn how to open doors, gates, fetch like dogs, roll over and other amazing tricks. Ellen Stanley, an art teacher in Texas, created National Pig Day in 1972. Her intent was to to recognize and be thankful for pigs as intelligent domestic animals. And I have to admit, this holiday is HUGE at the Hotel Thompson.

Yellow Pig Day on July 17th is a mathematician’s holiday celebrating yellow pigs and the number 17. Have you ever seen a yellow pig in real life? Probably not, but wouldn’t it be fun to have them yellow? Why not celebrate yellow pigs anyway! This holiday has been celebrated yearly since the early 1960’s, primarily by mathematicians on college campuses but hey it’s a holiday – let’s celebrate! I wonder if Bacon’s Aunt Tina knows about this date? Did you know that she is in fact a mathematician and a college professor? See smartness runs in the Thompson family 🙂

The Yellow Pig was created by mathematicians Michael Spivak and David C. Kelly in the early 1960’s. Spivak and Kelly were students at Princeton University, studying of course mathematics. History was made as they were listing interesting properties of the number 17. During this thought wave, the yellow pig was born. The yellow pig and the number 17 have been linked ever since.

So, spend some time today thinking and working in multiples of 17 and thinking about little yellow pigs.

Bigfoot Tracks

20140129-223655.jpg

OMP (oh my pig!)  Look at these tracks.  They are Bigfoot tracks.  No really they are.  Look at the size of them.  You can’t really tell from the picture but they are as big as daddy’s feet.  That’s like HUGE, right?

Here’s the scoop.  Daddy went outside yesterday morning to check out things with this snowmageddon here in the south.  Snow was still everywhere.  He saw something in the snow that looked weird so he called mom – AKA Hopalong right now with her back out – snorts.

She came outside to see what was going on. These tracks went across the front of the porch and then off to the side going towards the street.  Really big foot prints.  They looked really unique.

.

20140129-223704.jpg

So mom got some close up pictures of the unique foot print.  Is it a dog print?  Is it a cat print?  I think it looks like Bigfoot – you?  Someone needs to call the BFRO (Bigfoot Research Research Organization).  Get Matt Moneymaker on the line.  He needs to come south to my neck of the woods for an investigation.  Cryptologists need to start circling the house STAT.

You have any thoughts on this print?  Have you ever seen anything like this before?  Any trackers out there?

Help?  There’s no way this little oinker is going outside with this huge creature on the loose.  No way.  What if he kidnapped me?  What if he took me away from the Hotel Thompson.  I can’t live without my computer – or my television – or my mom and dad – or well you know the comforts in life.

Happy Friday My Friends!

Happy Friday!!  We made it through the first week of the year to the first Friday.  Hopefully, most of the holidays are behind us now and we can start the year off with fun and chuckles.  I don’t know about ya’ll, but I am still trying to get rest from Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years.  It’s time for this little oinker to take some major power naps this weekend and snuggle time with mom.

I saw this funny when I was staying up late New Years Eve.  That was a *LONG* night.  Usually I’m in bed by 10PM but mom/dad let me stay up to watch the fireworks.  We had a blast.

I couldn’t pass up this funny – hope you enjoy it.  I’m thinking of suggesting it to Hemi and Mouse Girl, the purr things here at the Hotel Thompson.  I’m off to put on my Sumo wrestling outfit now.  Happy fighting – snorts.

2013 in review

Was I ever surprised with this years results.  It could have only happened with all of my friends here in blogville.  Thank you for reading along and supporting this little piggy in his mission of making people laugh.  Here’s a toast for an awesome new year in 2014!!

The WordPress.com stats helper monkeys prepared a 2013 annual report for this blog.

Here’s an excerpt:

The concert hall at the Sydney Opera House holds 2,700 people. This blog was viewed about 30,000 times in 2013. If it were a concert at Sydney Opera House, it would take about 11 sold-out performances for that many people to see it.
