Mailing a Potato

IMG_0066.JPG

Supposedly in the postal world – you can mail an actual potato.  I guess with enough stamps, you can mail anything.  But this intrigues me.  Can you really mail a potato?  I ❤ potatoes.  Of any kind.  Of any size.  Of any nationality.

Now with that being said, who wants to take a challenge and mail me a potato?  Do you really think it will work?  Anyone – anyone at all?

mmm – potatoes – hash browns – french fries – mashed potatoes – twice cooked baked potatoes – grilled mashed potatoes – home fries – crispy potato roast – scalloped potatoes –

do I need to go on?  mmm – potatoes

Pay it Forward

Okay Friends – Here We Go!

My sweet friends at Nikitaland have started this monthly issue of Pay It Forward.  We asked for you to keep this in mind all month and to share things here today on what you have been able to do.  Paying it forward is not for bragging purposes – it’s an attempt to show how many different things we can do to pay it forward – lots of them don’t even include money.  Gestures that we take for granite may be a God send to another person.  So here we go – I’ll start on what mommy has done in the past month.

IMG_1640

First up – Nikitaland sent me this cool bracelet.  I wear it to remind myself to Pay it Forward.  I even and bought some extra ones to pass out (see ordering information at the bottom of this post).  For example, twice I went through different drive thru restaurants.  One was McDonald’s and the other was a Chick-Fil-A.  I bought breakfast for the car behind me and asked the cashier to give the bracelet to the car as a reminder to Pay it Forward.  That way when they Pay it Forward, they can give the bracelet to another person to remind them to Pay it Forward and so on.  The packaging that the bracelet comes in tells the person to do this – what an awesome idea huh?

Also a couple of times during the month on garbage day, me and the hub unit took back the garbage cans of our neighbors.  It’s a little gesture that is absolutely wonderful – especially in this cold weather!

Also one night, mom stopped on the way home at Nana’s and brought her mail to her.

Mom/dad both ate at one night and met woman who is supporting her grandchildren.  She didn’t ask but mom/dad felt the need to give her a little something for the kids. It wasn’t much but hopefully it would help a little bit.

Thanks my friends for reading and supporting the Pay it Forward mission.  What did YOU do this month to make a difference?  Please post on your page and link back so everyone can see that it takes everyone making a small part to do a great dent!

My buddy Nikitaland made up a good deeds sheet.  You can get it here.  You can print it, hang it on your fridge and just jot some things down that you do during the month.  That way at our next meet up, you can share what you have done to PAY IT FORWARD.

AND if you are interested in getting some Pay it Forward bracelets, check out Nikitaland’s post here for ordering information.  Believe me friends – WE CAN ALL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Next meet up will be Wednesday, March 4, 2015 – mark your calendars!

Squeals with Delight!

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/93d/28253568/files/2015/01/img_1308.jpg

With mommy being sick and Houdini being sick during the holidays, we weren’t real timely in getting some thank you’s out that we needed to.  Please forgive us for our delay my friends.

The first thank you we want to throw out is to Auntie Sharon of Gentlestitches. She sent us the coolest Christmas card.  Why do you ask?  Because we are not used to seeing Santa Claus at the beach – snorts.  Here, we celebrate Christmas in the cold whereas in Australia it’s the Summer.  Such a neat different huh?  Maybe one day mom/dad can celebrate in Australia – wouldn’t that be fun?

With the card she sent, she sent me a cute little black piggy – remind you of anyone?  Snorts – oinks.  And she sent a red Christmas hat.  See it in the picture?  Squeals – I was so excited!  I let mommy bring it to her office to put on her desk.  That way she can look at it and (1) think of Auntie Sharon and (2) think of this little oinker during the day – snorts.

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/93d/28253568/files/2015/01/img_1307.jpg

Then Auntie Sharon sent me a 2015 calendar!  OMP (Oh my pig!)  Look at these awesome pictures throughout the year.  I was so excited.  Auntie Sharon said that she had been to most of these places in Australia – WOW!  They are so beautiful.  And I’ll tell you a secret.  These pictures made dad turn a little green.  He wasn’t sick or anything.  He was green with envy – evil snorts.  He wants to visit them too.

Mom is going to hang this calendar in my bedroom for me to look at during the year.  Oh, ignore mom’s fingers int he picture.  It’s so hard to teach her how to take great pics 🙂

The next person I want to give a shout out and a thank you to is my brother Easy.  Now this is a funny tale.  Easy and his staff sent a package to me on 12/12/2014.  I didn’t get it until Friday, 01/02/2015.  Amazing huh?  If only we had strapped a camera on to this package to see the places it went!  It was rubber banded together, shrink wrapped and then taped together by the post office.  I actually had to get daddy to help me open it 🙂

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/93d/28253568/files/2015/01/img_1490.jpgBut when I did – squeals – it was like Christmas all over again!  Look at the stash that was in the bag – ALL of us anipals were so excited.  Mommy snagged the piggy calendar.. something about first dibs.  I’m not sure what that meant – snorts.  The cats grabbed their treats.  Me and Houdini grabbed the pillow and toys.  It was a blast!

And get a look at that pillow – what a catch!  The little hands stick out off of the pillow.  Houdini would get on top of it and it looked like the hands were hugging him.  OMP!  It was hilarious!

/home/wpcom/public_html/wp-content/blogs.dir/93d/28253568/files/2015/01/img_1491.jpg

But there was one toy in the bag that is strictly Houdini’s.  He has had so much fun with this ‘newspaper’.  He grabbed it mumbling something about dibs – what is that? – and took off through the Hotel Thompson.  This thing has a high squeak and trust me.  The dog knows how to squeak his newspaper.  It was a snort of a good time for the little guy this weekend.  I played with the ball that was in the bag.  For some reason, I don’t mind pushing it around with my snout.  Not too much though because it’s still winter and I really don’t do much in the winter except sleep, eat, poop, sleep, eat, pee – snorts.  You get the picture.

So dear friends – thank YOU so very much from the bottom of all of our hearts here at the Hotel Thompson.  We really, REALLY enjoyed our gifts.

Evil Squirrels Nest 2014 Holiday Card

OMP (oh my pig!)

I entered Evil Squirrel’s contest to win a hand drawn artwork for Christmas.  Every day for the past week, I’ve been going to the mailbox at the end of the drive to wait on the post man.  The first couple of days I met him, he jumped pretty high when he first saw me.  Maybe it was the snorting?  Maybe it was the fact that I was hiding behind a bush when he rolled up and jumped out at him?  I’m not really sure.  But since our acquaintance, we have been meeting daily for Christmas cards. I think he’s getting used to me now.

Well yesterday, I finally got my card – squeals!  I just *know* it will be worth a million catrillion dollars one day!  I’m such a lucky pig!  So friends, be sure to check out the other cards that were sent here.  And Evil Squirrel – you are the best – I have a piggy crush for sure!

Dear Bacon

20140719-222839-80919088.jpgDear Bacon – The humans went to bed without letting me in.  What’s a kitty to do?  I “hung out” all night thinking that someone in this place might come to the door.  I mean scratching on the window panes with these nails didn’t give them a hint that I was at the door – or the howling I was doing.  Dude – these humans are hard at taking a hint.  Signed Avon Calling

Dear Avon Calling – Dude, let me give you a couple of hints.  First up – if my humans heard nails on a window pane or howls that I know you purr things can make that sound like babies or such, they would be UNDER the bed hiding from the ghosts and ghouls.  Second up – If it’s like my abode, there is a curfew and the humans mean business with their curfew times.  Next time, be on time so you can get inside of the house.  Oh and you might want to go check on your humans.  I think I can hear their teeth chattering all the way here at the Hotel Thompson.

20140719-222839-80919640.jpgDear Bacon – Doctors tell the humans that one glass of red wine is good for their health.  I think this can qualify for us anipals right?  And hey, one glass so I got the biggest glass possible.  Cheers my friend.  Signed Winey

Dear Winey – For some reason, I don’t think red wine has the same benefits to us that it does the humans.  Then again I may be wrong.  Can you pass me the bottle to fill up my glass.  Bottles Up.  I’m so grapeful!  Snorts.

20140719-222838-80918292.jpg

Dear Bacon – My neighbors are characters… well at least that’s what my parents say.  You see there is a hole in the fence between our two houses.  My favorite thing to do is to stick my head in the fence to see what is going in their yard.  Sometimes it’s better than what’s going on in mine.  But for some reason, the past couple of times I’ve stuck my head in the hole, the neighbors snort and roll with laughter.  I don’t get it.  Do you?  Signed Moose

Dear Moose – Oh My Pig!  That is priceless my friend – I mean PRICELESS!  I think your neighbors have the bestest sense of humor.  It reminds me of my dad’s sense of humor here and the picture looks like something my dad would do.  Snorts.

20140719-222838-80918797.jpgDear Bacon – You know what they say about it’s take a village?  Well, here is the proof.  We’ve watched the humans go to this magical box in the kitchen.  They push this button and water magically appears.  We were shocked and amazed to say the least.  Me and Fido got together and came up with a plan.  He would lend me his back and I would investigate cause you know us purr things are better with our hands 🙂 So, I did and guess what.  Water magically does appear when you push the button – awesome!  Of course it was kind of hard to explain the puddle on the floor near the box.  I just blamed it on Fido.  Hey – it’s what us kitties do, right?  Signed Cleo

Dear Cleo – Snorts!  That is totally awesome!  I don’t see one of those magical water thingies on our box here at the Hotel Thompson.  I think you have hit the mother load of an endless fountain.  And hey, Fido probably had it coming, right?  Snorts.

 20140719-222838-80918574.jpg

Dear Bacon – I’ve heard you talk about Mouse Girl at your Hotel Thompson.  I think she is absolutely beautiful, stunning so glorious and her eyes just capture my heart.  I wanted to meet her so I was going to mail myself to her.  It didn’t work so well though.  When the postman opened the mailbox, he jumped pretty high for an old guy.  I was kind of amazed.  Who knew that he was afraid of cats?  Signed Leo

Dear Leo – Oh goodness.  I just don’t know what to say.  Postman can jump huh?  Maybe we should make a movie out of that.  I think it could be something that the anipal world would love to see.  Purr things make them jump and then barky things can chase them.  It would be a great adventure!

.

.

Remember my friends – Dear Bacon can’t happen without *YOU*.  Keep sending me your letters and pictures to work every week.

I Wonder

IMG_0300.JPG

Mom just called me from the post office. I’m so excited. She finally mailed all of my packages today. There was EIGHT. Can you believe that?

EIGHT of my friends out there will soon be receiving something from this little oinker. Are you excited? I know I am. I can’t wait to see the smiles and hear the comments.

Evil snorts. That’s right. I said evil snorts. Some of you might not think the packages are so good once you see what is inside.

Now are you intrigued? Snorts.

Operation Find Me

Things have been crazy around here at the Hotel Thompson.  Mom and dad have been on a search and find mission.  They told me what they were looking for and I thought it would be an easy fine – they did too. Well guess what.  It wasn’t.  They have spent the last two weekends searching everywhere for something that I’m not at a liberty to tell yet.

Finally nine stores later at a store that is nearly 50 miles away, they found what they were looking for.  Score for mom/dad!  In fact, I think mom’s precise words upon locating her loot were, “Hallelujah sweet Jesus”.  Needless to say, they bought all they had.

I know – I know.  You *NEED* to know what they were looking for and I understand.  But I absolutely can not tell you what it is.  Mom is mailing out some things today at the post office.  Some of you out there might be receiving said package and I hoof/pinky promised mom I wouldn’t say a word.  So, I’m not saying anything.  And this picture has nothing to do with anything.  None of these were what mom and dad were looking for.  That’s all I gotta wink at you.  Carry on my friends.

Thank You and Help Please

IMG_0851.JPG

Oh my friends!  What a wonderful thing that happened here last night at the Hotel Thompson.  I got mail!  Not an email but real goodness mail.  I was so piggy excited that I ran all over the house and couldn’t wait until mommy got home from the worky place to open the package.

 When she did – OMP!

It was the most beautiful thing in the world.  My ❤ just swelled up with so much love to my good pal Fozzie.  Why do you ask?  Well, she actually made me something with very own two hands.  It’s adorable – LIKE ME.  It’s cute – LIKE ME.  It’s priceless – LIKE ME!  It has an awesome bell on it that is so freaking cute!  I’m letting mom take it to work with her to put on her desk beside another great piggy that my Auntie Sharon made me a while back.  That way every single time mom looks at them during her stressful day, she will think of all of the love that went into making these and of course of ME!

And of course, mommy did a special thank you video to my friend Fozzie.  You can see that at the bottom.  NOTE:  Ignore mom’s southern twang – snorts.

IMG_0268

And now this is the part where I need you my friends.  As you know we have little Houdini here at the Hotel Thompson.  The little guy is going through some puppy teething kind of bad.  He wants to chew on everything – including my tail – snorts!  Any of you my good friends have any thoughts or suggestions on helping the little guy out?  Anything would be like most welcomed.  Mom tried the washcloth in the freezer trick – he turned his nose up at it and went for mom’s fingers instead – snorticles.

.

So – can you help this piggy out?  I know my tail and mom’s fingers would like great appreciate it so very much!

And He’s Off Again

We had a wonderful LONG weekend here with the rock clan.  We all got together and had a Bon Voyage party for Bashful.  He is now off again to parts unknown.  Where or where will that little rock of mine roll up to next?

Could it be here?  Could it be there?  In the states or across the pond?  On the other side of the world?  I’m not telling.  Nope.  I’m keeping a secret.  There’s nothing you can do to make me talk.  Nope.  Not at all.  My piggy lips are sealed.  Only two other people know.. well maybe three.  Mommy, the nice Mr. Postman guy and the host family.  And none of them are talking either.  Anyone want to take a guess?

Soon…. we shall know hopefully soon.

.

.

And you should have seen all of the girls here crying over Bashful.  Princess Coralena, Virginia, Rockelle and Koishi.  I’m not sure which one was crying the most!

.

.

UPDATE:  Mom always sends off Bashful at the post office closest to her worky place.  I want you to know that the staff there now truly knows that mom is certifiable and should be wearing a white jacket that buttons in the back.  They have been inquiring about the boxes that she sends off.  She told them today what was actually in the boxes.  You should have seen the looks on their faces – PRICELESS.  I mean truly PRICELESS.  The response of, “You have a what that you do what with?” and “Girl, you need a hobby.”

These were said in fun and mom just laughed it all off smiling.  Then she threw in the icing on the cake.  She told them that the rock wasn’t actually hers, it was mine… a pig.  Oh dear piggy heavens.  Daddy laughed and said he was surprised that they didn’t pick up the phone right there and then.

But it’s not weird.  My pet rock travels.  He’s good at it and has a lot of great and giving friends that like to host him and show him a good time.  Shakes piggy head.  I don’t see anything wrong with that.  Do you?  Snorts.

Cards and a Package

20140422-084842.jpg

Earlier in the week, I got two things in the mail in ONE day.  You talk about a piggy being excited and running around the house squealing – that was me!  Of course daddy was mean and wouldn’t let me open up anything until mommy got home from the worky place… he’s such a bubble popper – snorts.

When mommy got home, I was walking the floors looking for her.  I was kind of excited and didn’t wait for her to even change clothes before I was jumping on her and squealing.  We opened my card first… piggy blushes.  It was from my girlfriend Nylablue and her mom Sherri-Ellen.   They are so sweet.  I borrowed dad’s credit card a couple of weeks ago and sent them both a pick me upper from this winter snow.  I think they enjoyed it!  Plus the package had daisies and lady bugs on the boxes… I was hoping that my Nylablue would correlate that with a date we went on back in  March.  You can read all about it here.

Thank you my sweet purr thing Nylablue and my sweet friend Sherri-Ellen!!  ❤

********************************************************************************************************************************

20140422-084849.jpg20140422-084902.jpg20140422-084909.jpg

Then I got a package from down under – that’s right Australia from Fozzie.  I squealed!  Look at the goodies she sent me – and OMP (oh my pig) isn’t that piggy pencil holder/pencils the most adorable thing you’ve seen since I was a baby piglet??  Fozzie even sent my mom some Mickey Mouse band-aids.  Personally between you and me, I think mommy wanted a boo-boo just so she could use a MM band-aid.  They are adorable!  AND, my stickers – YES!  I can’t wait to use them on some special letters I’ll be sending out soon.

Thank you so very much my sweet dear friend Bev!!  You rock and made this little piggies day!  ❤
