Let’s talk about Subway today. Not just any Subway but the Subway located in Dodgeville, Wisconsin. This building that is now the Subway used to be a Harley Davidson shop owned by Mr and Mrs Forbes. Back on the night of April 13, 1984, the couple went out driving when a car load of young men driving too fast, over 100 mph, crashed into the Forbes car killing everyone involved.
Today, Mrs. Forbes haunts the Subway building. She is know to throw items off shelves, she sets off beepers on the doors, cuts sandwiches and calls out employee names. She is even know to appear at the cash register with a stern look on her face. And when she appears, she has a foul odor.

Welcome my friends to our weekly issue of Journey with Friends. This is a time that we come together for support, for encouragement, for fellowship – all with one single goal in mind – to live better. Welcome to our journey to share our goals and our accomplishments and our disappointments and frustrations.
Together we can do this!
January 22, 2017 – The day of rest. Today calls for cleaning, laundry and FOOTBALL. Too bad the i-Watch doesn’t keep up with the day-to-day activities that we do. You know what I mean. For example: shaving aerobics. It has to account for something twisting yourself like a pretzel to shave your legs. Or scrubbing the toilet/shower/tub areas. All of that moving around, grunting and groaning. What about cleaning the litter box? Or making a king size bed by yourself. LOL – some things just don’t get counted. Miles Moved: 0.70
January 23, 2017– Back to work – back to grind of things. I think I like taking a walk during my lunch ‘break’. It gives me energy to survive the rest of the afternoon. I’m kind of ticked though because my walk didn’t make my exercise circle – it did make my activity circle though. It’s weird. I’ll look at it again tomorrow to see what’s going on. Miles Moved: 2.08
January 24, 2017 – Still feeling good and motivated which is awesome. I can’t remember ever changing my eating habits and feeling this good. Totally weird for sure. I like to take my walk between 11-11:30am at work. This is before people start going to lunch so there’s still a lot of people in their offices just in case I need someone. Funny how we think about that huh? But I’m a safety girl – LOL. And again, my walk didn’t make my exercise circle on my i-Watch. Stomping my southern feet 😦 I’ll give it one more shot tomorrow to see what I’m doing wrong. Miles Moved: 1.79
January 25, 2017 – Still walking the parking lot. I feel good afterwards. Do I want to before hand – absolutely NOT! But in the end, I know it’s good for me. And it’s only been since the beginning of January, but I feel my body changing in good ways – my legs are getting stronger – my pain levels are not so high lately. That’s totally awesome. Miles Moved: 2.27
January 26, 2017 – I almost have a perfect week in my activity rings. As long as I’m pushing it and my activity ring circles, I feel great about myself. From going completely sedentary to moving, it feels good. Yep, I can’t believe I said that. 🙂 Miles Moved: 2.05
January 27, 2017 – Friday! Can I get a YES! Of course, Friday wouldn’t be Friday without something happening, right? I don’t walk on Friday’s at work because I want to walk on Saturday with the hub unit. We shall see how this works for sure. Miles Moved: 1.43
January 28, 2017 – Well, one of the appliances decided to quit working at the house (we will post about that later). Stress is a wonderful thing – ha! Lot’s of waiting today for the delivery man… I mean lots of waiting. Miles Moved: 1.47
Thought of the week: I think I finally found my groove. I walk at work Monday thru Thursday. Then I pick up one day on the weekend to walk with the hub unit. It’s taking me the entire month of January but I think I have a system now – yay! My next weigh in is 02/01/2017. Hopefully there will be a good change going south on the scales. I hope so… I really hope so 🙂
This week walked: 11.79
TOTAL 2017 Miles: 45.23
Weigh In 01/15/2017: -6 pounds

Okay Friends – Here We Go!
My sweet friends at Nikitaland have started this monthly issue of Pay It Forward. We asked for you to keep this in mind all month and to share things here today on what you have been able to do. Paying it forward is not for bragging purposes – it’s an attempt to show how many different things we can do to pay it forward – lots of them don’t even include money. Gestures that we take for granted may be a God send to another person.
You know my mom has been going to the plasma clinic now for several months. There is a nurse there named Val that mom has just fallen in love with. No matter how busy her day, she has a smile to open the sky and always a kind word. Last week, it was birthday. Mom surprised her with a small gift of appreciation – something she could share with her family. I hope it brought a smile to everyone like she always brings a smile to my mom’s face.
And speaking of the plasma clinic – mom has made her 20th donation this past week as well. When she started, she made a personal commitment to herself to do 20 donations. There have been up and down times – times she has wanted to quit – but she kept on to meet her goal. I’m not sure how many people mom has touched with her donations but we are proud of her here at the Hotel Thompson. And you know what, she is trying to do 20 more. At that end of 40, she will reevaluate how she feels.
My buddy Nikitaland made up a good deeds sheet. You can get it here. You can print it, hang it on your fridge and just jot some things down that you do during the month. That way at our next meet up, you can share what you have done to PAY IT FORWARD.
AND if you are interested in getting some Pay it Forward bracelets, check out Nikitaland’s post here for ordering information. Believe me friends – WE CAN ALL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
Next meet up will be March 2nd – mark your calendars!

MARK YOUR CALENDARS!
Paying it forward is is something that we want to start in the new year of 2015. You know the old saying of, “Do onto others as you want them to do onto you?” Well, let’s put it in action in 2015. Every month on the first Wednesday of the month, we are hosting Pay it Forward with my friends from Nikitaland.

Paying it forward is simple. You do something for someone out of the blue, not asking for anything in return just because you can. It’s little things that count. Karma comes around for all of us.
Here are a few examples:
Pay for the person behind you at a drive thru – could be as simple as a cup of coffee or breakfast.
Help someone take their groceries to their car at the grocery store.
Give extra as a tip to your waiter/waitress.
Visit a elderly neighbor and spend some time with them. Read to them or bring them lunch. Listen to them as they talk.
Pay for the person behind you at a toll booth.
Put money in a parking space for someone whose time is getting close to expiring.
Make a donation.
Cook lunch or dinner for a neighbor in need.
Offer to babysit for free to a couple who needs a night out.
See, it’s the little things that count that make the most. Just being there for someone to see their smile can bring great karma your way. So in the new year of 2015 – let’s Pay it Forward.
You have an entire month to Pay it Forward. Do little things. We will meet back here on my blog on June 3, 2015 to post about what we have done and how we have touched someones life in 2015. I hope this inspires you my friends ❤

My friend Fozzie and I have scheduled a group posting today of Shopping Around the World. We thought it would be interesting to see the differences between different countries all over. Here are our prices for the following from our area – Georgia USA.
Items to price this month:
- Spring/Summer is quickly approaching my friends on this side of the world. On the other side of the world, Autumn/Winter is quickly approaching. That is if Mother Nature starts playing well with others 🙂 It was suggested to post what you pay during this time of year for the month for your heating and/or air conditioning. What temperature do you set your thermostat on? Discuss. Okay we keep it pretty cool here at the Hotel Thompson. Mom likes to hang meat sometimes so daddy has to keep her in check. Our monthly bill is a ‘flat rate’ bill. We pay the same thing every month for 12 months. Sometimes we use more watts than other months but it makes up the difference over the year. We pay right at $205.00 a month in electrical – heating/air conditioning. Our house is totally electric – no gas at all here… unless you count the gas that comes from this oinker – snorts and rolls with piggy laughter.
- Meat. Fajita beef. We buy a pound package for $4.99 at the market. It’s already cut in small slices. All you have to do is brown.
- Vegetable. Head of cabbage. When we are lucky, we can get this as cheap as $0.29 a pound. This week though we paid $0.49 a pound. An entire head cost us around $1.26 – awesome deal. Have you ever eaten the core of a cabbage? Mom highly recommends it. It has a bit of a spicy flavor and is awesome!
- Random Item. A can of peanuts. We buy the store brand for only $2.99 a can.
- Homemade Dish. See Below 🙂 This entire meal costs less than $5.00 for two people – and you have leftovers the next day for lunch!
A ‘go to’ dish here at the Hotel Thompson is our version of a Chinese dish. This is easy and takes less than 15 minutes to prepare. It’s a huge hit! We take the fajita beef and brown it in a skillet with a little bit of olive oil. While that is browning, we use two boxes of the Lo Mein noodles that you can buy in the store for $0.99 each. They come with the seasoning packs. You open the packs, fill them with water and microwave them according to the package. While the fajita beef is almost brown, add some chopped up cabbage and cook together. When the Lo Mein noodles are done, pour them into your mixture of fajita beef and cabbage, add the seasoning mix packets, stir together and cover. When the noodles have come together and the cabbage is soft but yet still has a crunch to it, top with peanuts and sesame seeds for taste. There you go – instant meal that will please and is so delicious. Remember to put a little back for lunch the next day. Warms up wonderful!
I hope you had fun my friends with this month’s edition of Shopping Around the World. Hope to see you shopping soon!
