Do You Want to See Something that Will Make YOU Smile?

Oh friends.  I hope you had a fantastic weekend.  We did nothing really.  Well okay.  Mom and dad went on a little field trip that I will post about this afternoon but other than that – nada.  But, this morning I saw a video that will absolutely BLOW your mind.  It will make you oohh and aaww.  We have watched it here at the Hotel Thompson repeatedly.

It’s from my good friend Speedy.  You *have* to jump over to his page and watch the video.  He’s on a leash!  And he likes it!  And yeah, Bashful is in the video too but this time, it’s all about Speedy because he is simply AMAZING!  So, check him out here my friends.

AND while you are watching the video of the beautiful countryside – check out the horses in it too.  I want to live there!  I wonder if I can mail myself to Speedy?  A couple of air holes in the box should do it, you think?  Snorts

Dear Bacon

20131113-093216.jpg Dear Bacon,

Leash training.  Well, it sucks.  I can’t go too far without the human deciding that I shouldn’t be that far.  A pig has to have his freedom!  That’s what I say.  What about you?  Signed Gotta Run

Dear Gotta Run,

Poor little guy.  Mommy *tried* to leash train me.  Let’s just say that I wasn’t a leash kind of pig either.  I’m sure with more practice, I would have adjusted but she didn’t have the will power – snorts.  Look on the other hand my little friend, they are just trying to watch after your safety.  Consider it a gesture of love. 🙂

20131113-093238.jpgDear Bacon,

HA!  This will make you think twice about stomping in that puddle outside again won’t it?  I just had to share.  You never know where my kind might jump out at you.  Consider us like clowns.  We’ll make you laugh but we are scary as heck to look at sometimes.  Signed Hide N Seek

Dear Hide N Seek,

Shivers to mergatroid!  I will never stomp my little hooves in the puddle outside in my magical backyard EVER again.  Heck, I close my eyes and still see you.  EEWW – you are like clowns – scary!!  I gotta get in therapy.  Thanks.

Dear Bacon,

You’re not the only cute thing that rides around in your mom’s moving thingy.  I love to settle in the back seat and go for a spin.  It kind of relaxes me and helps me to go to sleep.  I think it helps my mom too to hear me go bbaaww.  Signed Tiny

Dear Tiny,

OMP (oh my pig).  Yes you are so right my friend.  You are the most adorable little thing.  I just want to pick you up and cuddle with you!  If my mom saw you, oh goodness, we would so have to adopt you here at the Hotel Thompson!!  Stay safe my little friend.

Dear Bacon,

I turn my back for one minute and my tail hit my nuts off of the pole.  I think my face tells you everything.  I got make every nut count during these winter months!  Signed Flabbergasted

Dear Flabbergasted,

I’m sorry my friend for laughing but that look is priceless!  Hit me up, I’ll give you some nuts 🙂

Dear Bacon,

No matter what you do in life, never give up and never surrender.  You don’t know what strengths you have until you try.  Stay strong my friend.  Signed Adam Ant

Dear Adam Ant,

Those are some powerful words my little buddy.  So true and spot on.  I will never give up and never surrender with anything in my life.  Thank you!

Remember friends – keep your pictures and questions coming.  Send them to me at  – thanks for making my Tuesday specials of Dear Bacon just that – very special!

Being the Responsible One

20130321-223227.jpgI feel the humans now – it’s hard being a good parent!

Mom says for me to hang in there and once Bashful gets his ‘baby phase’ behind him he will be better.  I’m not sure that’s possible.  And what if I’m doing this all wrong?  What if he turns out like his dad, a rolling stone, or gets involved in a bad rock band?

Sometimes I feel like I never get enough rest.  Having kids is hard!  I feel like a zombie pig on same days and just go through the motions so I can finally get back in bed.  It does get better, right?

I’ve been so tired lately that I even gave mom a hard time last night.  I was being fussy with her and she understands.  She sat me down and we talked about it.  It’s all about love.  I feel better after our talk and took a nap.  Mom helped out with Bashful for a little bit and took him for a walk.  He was a lot better afterwards too.  I guess she wore him out because when they got back, he was out like a light and slept a solid 8 hours for a change.  That was such a relief!

Bashful is doing better.  He’s gotten accustomed to living at the Hotel Thompson.  He’s practically house trained now and doesn’t have any accidents.  He rolls around the house and plays with the purr things a lot.  Sometimes he gets a little rough and I have to break things up.  He got into the cereal the other night and ate an entire box of Fruity Pebbles.  It was all over the floor.  But this little hoover cleaned everything up before mom went into the kitchen.  The hard part is trying to keep him on a schedule.  And, dad has taught him Rock, Paper, Scissors.  Shakes head, he always picks paper for some reason.

So my friends, help me out here.  Any words of encouragement for raising Bashful to be the best “s t o n e” he can be?  Thanks my friends – XOXO – Bacon

A Fun Weekend With Bashful

Bashful is getting adjusted to his life here at the Hotel Thompson.  It is different from living in Florida where he came from.  He’s still a little bit camera shy but he should be getting over that soon.  I told him that mommy likes to snap pictures like a tourist at Walt Disney World to document everything and anything.  Be patient with him – he will get there soon and I’ll be posting pictures of my him.

For the first couple of days, he wouldn’t eat.  We couldn’t understand why.  Mom tried everything and I even gave him some of my food but he just wouldn’t eat.  We were really getting worried.  I got mom to call his rockatrician.  He recommended rock food.  Of course, why didn’t I think of that?!  I asked mom and dad to go to the store to get some and they came back with this box.  Don’t you know I can’t get the little booger to stop eating now!  I’m so glad we figured out what was wrong so he didn’t starve to death!

The past couple of days me and Bashful have just talked up a storm in getting to know each other.  I found out that his dad is a rolling stone and his mom is a pebble in a creekbed.  What a combination!  That accounts for his soft skin.

He does like to listen to music and watch television.  He likes to hear classical rock when we go to bed.  He says it helps him to relax.  I found that it helps me too.  He has also found a fascination with the cartoon the Flintstones.  He says it brings him fond memories with them living in Bedrock.

We are working hard on house training the little fellow.  He had one accident over the weekend on the carpet.  I explained to him that it was unacceptable here at the Hotel Thompson.  I’ve told him to watch me when I go in my room on my potty patch.  It’s a work in progress.  Hopefully soon, he won’t have any problems whatsoever.

He’s also getting along with the purr things here, Hemi and Mouse Girl.  That’s good because I was afraid if he would be aggressive and try to bite them.  But nope, he acts like he’s been here forever.  Mouse Girl has even taken to him a little which is great.

He’s been sleeping in bed with me but mom said she might get him a little bed of his own.  I’m worried about rolling over him and suffocating him.  Mom says he’s tougher than what he looks but I don’t want to push it and hurt him.

The other night after he finally went to sleep, I got on the computer and found this funny cartoon.  I thought I would share with you.  Just remember, be patient with Bashful – I’ll get ya’ll some pictures soon.

The picture says it all – PLOL (Piggy Laughing out Loud). Bashful is a little pee shy.  I told him we were family and there was nothing to be shy about around here.  We talk about everything and there are no secrets with mom and dad.

Hope everyone has a great and happy Monday –

XOXO – Bacon
