31 Days of Spook – Martha Washington Boarding School

Hello friends.  Are you spooked yet?  Well today I continue with my guest submission by Angie Deptula.  Wasn’t her submission earlier today just chilling?  Well, your in for a extra treat with her final submission.  Happy reading my spooks.

There once was a boarding school for delinquent girls, named Martha Washington Institute or Martha Washington School for Girls. It was located at Brighton Beach on Lake Washington in Seattle. It functioned from 1900-1971, and at one point became known as “Martha Washington School for the Insane Girls.” Prior to this, Judge Smith had owned the house. Smith built the home with a nursery and a boathouse, with a hollow stairway to a madrone tree on the property, a location that plays a role in today’s hauntings. Rumors of violence, murder and suicide are associated with the school while it was opened.  It is thought that a janitor of the school had raped and killed a girl by hanging her on the tree. Whether this hanging was done on the madrone tree or not, I’m not aware of that.

In 1971, after the school closed, a satanic group utilized the building for rituals and sacrificed animals on the property. Because this is within a residential location, the general community became uneasy with the building so the city council decided to have the building demolished and turned into a park. Today, without knowing the history of the location, one would think nothing of it.

The park is a popular spot for people to walk their dogs at, or relax and picnic on a nice sunny day. However when nighttime comes, the empty park has an ominous atmosphere. Paranormal activities occur frequently. The old madrone tree is still present and is thought to have ghostly energies attached to it. And the area where the stairway Judge Smith once built is still there and is thought to be a portal. Visitors often feel a presence or become uneasy in that area like they’re being watched. Disembodied footsteps and screaming have also been reported in the park. Teenagers who visit in odd numbers have had a spirit follow them home. A mom who was once visiting the park one evening took a picture of her son and noticed behind him an apparition of a girl looking right at her. Sightings of a girl have been reported multiple times by different sources as well.

One in particular is from a good friend of mine, Pam. One day Pam and her two friends visited the park early in the morning. The girls walked around the empty park. Pam was walking with one of her friend, while the other was off somewhere else. Pam caught movement from her peripheral and turned, noticing a female apparition of a girl in a white nightgown walking, coming up side-by- side to her and her friend. She choked up, froze, the blood rushed out of her face as she realized this girl was translucent. Pam’s friend quickly realized why: Her friend acknowledged the ghostly girl too. They ran and called for their other friend, hurrying to the car. Inside the car, the new car would not start. The girls panicked, feeling ice cold, squealing and squirming in their seats. After a few minutes, the car finally started and they sped away. Pam and the girls have never returned since.

I have been to the park too, with friends, but have never experienced anything like that. I never explored the park long enough, probably because I was too chicken from all the spooky stories I’ve heard of. However, I did feel uneasy, overcome with chills as I felt like invisible eyes were on me the whole time. It’s indescribable, but the place really does feel ominous at night. I wonder if this girl in the white dress or nightgown is the same girl who was killed or murdered at the school, and if she’s the same apparition seen over and over by others? I can imagine there being other spirits on site as well if the place was once used as a satanic gathering. The mysteries of this place are left unknown, but the uneasiness it provokes onto visitors still remains.

Netflix Series

Have you watched this television series? I think it showed originally on Showtime.  (This picture was taken off of Google for the 8th Season).  The entire show is about Dexter Morgan who is a blood splatter expert working in Miami, Florida for the Miami Metro Police Department.  What people don’t know is that secretly Dexter is a serial killer.  Now saying serial killer brings to mind a bad person – an insane person, right?  I guess in a way it still rings true but Dexter is a little different.  He only kills people that deserve it.  Sounds weird huh?  We are talking about people that kill that get off in the court system or people that kill that others don’t know about.

While it was on Showtime, we didn’t watch it… you know for obvious reasons – we didn’t have Showtime 🙂 Snorts!  But when it went to Netflix, I put that show in my queue so fast and started watching it… all eight seasons!

Now we couldn’t watch while the purr things or Houdini was still awake.  Me and mom had to wait until they went to bed and were asleep and then we would watch 1-2 shows every night.

Now I want you to think about this.  There was eight seasons and about 12-13 shows per season.  So mom and this little oinker invested probably around 100 hours of watching around 104 shows.  No, we didn’t do this overnight.  Yes, we did it during downtime.  What?  Can’t a pig have a favorite show?

If you haven’t watched the shows, I’m not going to give anything away.  But I will tell you that we went through a LOT of drama, a lot of killings, a lot of twists and a lot of plots that made your mouth hang wide.  I started to know the characters like family.  I grew fond of some of them.  And after watching the shows, me and mom would discuss what happened.

The first three seasons we watched within a matter of weeks.  They kept me on my piggy hooves while covering one eye and jumping at surprises.  Yes, they were that good.

Season 4 through 7 were okay.  Something happened along the way.  You see Dexter was trying to be ‘normal’.  He even got married and had a baby.  All of this was great.

Then there was season 8, the final season.  To us, this is where things seemed rushed.  Have you ever read a book that was so good all the way through it and then in the last chapter you learn that everything was a dream?  Well, it was kind of like this to us.  It was so good but the last show of season 8 left us wanting.  There was so much more that could have happened.  I mean, yes there are only so many killings that a serial killer can do but it just felt empty here.  Too many things happened in the last show that your brain doesn’t have time to process it.  Then when it does, your brain is like WTF just happened… pardon the bad language.

Have you seen this series?  What did you think?  Discuss.

Mom You’re Killing Me Here

Mommy ordered a bunch of ‘stuff’ from Amazon lately.  Everything is starting to come in now by mail.  I’m just going to throw this out there.  Mom needs help.  A lot of help.  I think she has finally went over the fine line of insanity.  You don’t believe me do you?

Look at exhibit A to the left.  This is one of the ‘things’ she has ordered lately.  Shakes my piggy head.  What is she trying to do to me – kill me?  I can only roll my piggy eyes so much – snorts.

And I have to remind mommy.  She kills grass.  Literally – she can’t grow anything.  How does she expect this chi-chi chiapig to grow with that insane hair?

I need some help my friends.  I think mom may need a intervention.  Any suggestions?

Help – Who Is Right or Wrong?

Snorts.  Friends – I need your help again on this one.  It’s really important that you sink your teeth into this one and help us out here at the Hotel Thompson.  You see, mommy has a problem.  When she gets stressed, she hits the hard stuff.  Straight up from the box.  That’s right – she goes for the ice cream… or in this case the Gelato.

We are not talking a small bowl – we are talking get the entire tub out and graze straight from the container.  It helps that she bought this new stuff from the market a couple of weeks ago.  That’s right – a couple of WEEKS ago.  See, she hasn’t done too bad in stressing – there’s still some in the container – snorts.  And it may last for several months here at the Hotel Thompson… especially this flavor cause daddy doesn’t like it – snorts.  That’s fine… it’s more for me and mommy.

And by the way, this new stuff is awesome.  Nods head up and down.  I *might* have gotten a couple of tastes… of course in a bowl silly – snorts.  Mommy wouldn’t share her spoon.  This is caramel swirl Gelato.  You want a closer look don’t you?  Here you go:

See all of that caramel goodness?  When mommy gets her ‘tub’ out, she is in piggy heaven!  (I know I was.)  But I digress.  Here is where we need your help my friends.

When mommy takes her tub of gooey goodness out of the freezer, she nukes it in the microwave for 10 seconds to get the ‘hardness’ off of it so she can dig in with her shovel spoon.  Daddy says she’s two steps from insanity when she does this and that it’s not “right” to punish ice cream like that.

What do you think?  I mean personally, I like it either way and I’m not complaining – snorts.  But mom and dad laugh every time mommy does this.  Tell me she’s not the only one in the world that does this.  Tell me that daddy is not going to have to call the men with the little white jackets to come and take mommy away.  Thoughts?!  Please discuss.
