Pay it Forward

Okay Friends – Here We Go!

My sweet friends at Nikitaland have started this monthly issue of Pay It Forward.  We asked for you to keep this in mind all month and to share things here today on what you have been able to do.  Paying it forward is not for bragging purposes – it’s an attempt to show how many different things we can do to pay it forward – lots of them don’t even include money.  Gestures that we take for granite may be a God send to another person.  So here we go – I’ll start on what mommy has done in the past month.

Mom *always* buys breakfast for at least one person during the month in a drive thru.  This month wasn’t any different 🙂  She bought breakfast for the guy behind her in line at the drive thru and left him a pay it forward card.

Dad brought the trash cans up from the drive for us and the neighbor.

Mom left a card in the mailbox for the mail lady with a piece of chocolate once during the month as an appreciation gift.

Mom also fixed all six of her supervisors at work a treat bag for St. Patrick’s Day.  They had green shot glasses and some candy.  They were a huge hit and everyone seemed like they really enjoyed them.

AND, they were easy 🙂  All 6 shot glasses with candy wrapped in green paper cost only around $5.00

And this month mommy did something for daddy too.  She surprised him with dinner one night to a place that he really enjoys.  She took off work early, pick him up and they went off in Albert the Smart Car. She didn’t even tell him she was leaving work early that day.  It was a great surprise and daddy had an awesome time!

Thanks my friends for reading and supporting the Pay it Forward mission.  What did YOU do this month to make a difference?  Please post on your page and link back so everyone can see that it takes everyone making a small part to do a great dent!

My buddy Nikitaland made up a good deeds sheet.  You can get it here.  You can print it, hang it on your fridge and just jot some things down that you do during the month.  That way at our next meet up, you can share what you have done to PAY IT FORWARD.

AND if you are interested in getting some Pay it Forward bracelets, check out Nikitaland’s post here for ordering information.  Believe me friends – WE CAN ALL MAKE A DIFFERENCE!

Next meet up will be Friday, May 1, 2015 – mark your calendars!

Mom Get Your Beaver Off the Table

Oh dear friends.  This is exactly what I overheard daddy telling mommy.  “Get your beaver off the table.”  Then, I went and looked at mom’s pictures on her phone and find her beaver on the table!  I was shocked.  I was in awe.  I was almost piggy mortified.

But as I do sometimes, I get ahead of myself.  You see when mom/dad met up with Shoko and Kali’s parents in Alabama, they exchanged gifts.  One of the gifts was this beaver – and don’t worry Shoko and Kali’s mom has a matching one.  Snorts – astonishing I know!  Those two brought their matching beavers drinking and out to a restaurant!  Can you imagine what everyone thought when they put them on the table?

And mom’s little beaver was drinking.  There goes any sanity that might have been thought about that night.  And then… they named their beavers.  Rolls piggy eyes.  I guess if men can name their toys, girls can too.  Snorts with laughter.

Mom named hers Billy.  That sounds like a good old southern name doesn’t it?  Well – oinks – you know there has to be a story behind that name.  You see for the longest time mom/dad watched this television show called Billy the Exterminator.  Billy was one of the main guys on the show along with his mom, dad and brother.  In their business, they would go to houses and make unwanted animals go away like roaches, snakes, mice, squirrels, etc.  One time, his mom called Billy for a job on removing some beavers.  She gave him the information and told him, “Billy, go get that beaver.”  Now, there is just something so wrong with a mom telling her son, “Go get that beaver”.  Shakes piggy head in amusement.  Maybe it was the way she said it?  I’m not sure.  But it was so funny that daddy fell off the couch laughing.

So today my friends, I leave you with this cute little beaver I found on the internet.  Have a great Monday!

And P.S.  Thank you so much my friends Jean and Bill (Kali and Shoko’s parents) for the beaver.  This little guy has gotten around into a lot of places – don’t worry the camera has followed him – snorts.

The The Trip of a Lifetime :)

Oh my friends – SQUEALS.  Finally, we get a change to talk about THE trip.  You know the one where my humans ran off and left us anipals with Nana and met *my* friends and had a great weekend.  Yeah, that weekend trip – snorts and rolls with laughter.  You see my friends Kali and Shoko at The Canadian Cats sent an email to my mom asking her if her and dad wanted to meet up during their vacation.  Of course my mom jumped at the chance.  Finally the weekend came and mom shipped all of us up the street to Nana’s…. which might I add what happened at Nana’s that weekend stays at Nana’s.  🙂

So mom are coming from the Atlanta area and are using the good old GPS to get to Huntsville, Alabama.  Now daddy said that Mr. GPS took them on every pig trail to get there.  Now I kind of take offense to that.  I don’t do pig trails – I make them!

But something fascinating happened right before mom and dad took off – actually the night before.  Do you know it snowed here.  Well it didn’t here at the Hotel Thompson but up towards the mountain areas, it snowed and iced pretty bad.  See, this picture mom took from her window.  It’s icy over there on the mountain top.  And don’t worry about mom driving and using her camera.  Snorts – mom said that they got behind someone that wasn’t used to A – driving on winding, curving mountain roads and B – driving on ice.  So mom was practically stopped when she took this picture.  It was really pretty.

Mom said she should have taken a picture on dad’s side.  Why?  Because it was straight down off of the mountain!  I would have watered the back seat if I saw that.  Can you imagine?

Here’s a closer picture of the frozen ice on the mountains.  It was outrageous!  The GPS had mom and dad going through the mountains then to the left dropping in Huntsville, Alabama.  The only ice and snow mom saw really was in the mountains.  Cool huh?  Scenic route full of curves and fun.

And below is a family picture of all of them – from left to right – Bill, Jean, daddy, mommy and yeah that’s the waiter Jordan beside mommy.  Snorts!  He was a cool guy.  And in fact, mommy is doing a food blog today about the restaurant and Jordan.  So check it out here.  You won’t believe the fun they had… or the trouble they found.  And stay tuned to mom’s food blogs for the next week or two.  Mom and dad hit a lot of great restaurants to and from Alabama.

Don’t you love this picture?  Mommy has it printed out and framed on her desk here at the Hotel Thompson in her office.  I just loved it too!  Mom and dad told me so many stories about the weekend.

And look at all of these wonderful goodies that came home with mom and dad that Bill and Jean gave them.  I especially love the Pork with An Attitude shirt.  How did they know I had an attitude – snorts.  And mom says the Canadian Collection are all kinds of chocolates.  She says they are fabulous.  She took them to work and has them on her desk in her candy bowl.  Yummers!

And below these – Houdini is playing with his quack bird or is it a Canadian goose?  Snorts!  Daddy got in trouble for playing with it inside of the house.  You see you hold the tail in one hand and the beak in the other then let go.  That thing can fly!  And of course, Houdini loves it!   The other picture of Houdini is him trying to take over the purr things cat toy.  He got caught and mom was fussing at him that it belonged to Hemi and Mouse Girl.  Busted little man!  There are a few more things that I will share next week.  I know you can’t wait.  It was definitely an awesome night and thank you so much Bill and Jean for the goodies.  I do wish we were closer!!

So here we go – I’ll start on what mommy has done in the past month.

.

  • Mom did another adventure through the McDonald’s drive thru in February.  She paid for the guy’s breakfast behind her.  All he had ordered was a biscuit so mom added a drink to his order as well.  She left one of my business cards with “Pass it Forward” on it.  It *made* the guy’s day!  Later on, I got an email stating, “YOU MADE MY DAY.  Thanks for the breakfast.  I will pass it forward.”  See – little things add up to make someone’s day!
  • During the month, mom and dad try to watch out for the trash can out front once a week.  They brought back the neighbor’s can a couple of times.  In this weather, that was awesome!
  • Mom and dad went to Cracker Barrel for dinner one night.  When they were checking out, there was a small boy that was at the cash register.  He was wanting to buy a small toy – it wasn’t much.  He was so polite!  He didn’t have enough money.  Mommy bought him the toy and let him keep his money for another one later on.
  • Now you gotta know that my parents eat out A LOT.  Snorts and rolls with laughter – that’s definitely a post for another time.  One night they went to IHOP.  There was an older man sitting by himself.  My mom in all of her southern charm, invited him to dine with her and dad.  They talked and had coffee for at least an hour.  His wife had passed last year and each week he goes to a restaurant to think of her.  It was a privilege to spend time with him and hear about his life.

Now I want to tell you about some things that was done TO mommy this past month.  Our great friend and co-chair of Pay it Forward, Valerie, is totally awesome!  Mommy has been so sick this past month and Valerie sent mom a pick me up card.  She enclosed a little something inside of the card for mommy to treat herself with a meal.  Now let me tell you.  That made my mommy smile and bubble with happiness.  Valerie – you go way beyond being a friend.  YOU are awesome and you rock!

And to the man at the theater this past weekend – you rock!  You don’t want me to mention your name but you were a life savior.  You see, when me and the hub unit go out sometimes it is difficult for the hub to go to the restroom.  We went to the theater and the bathrooms were dark.  There was no way that he could maneuver by himself.  A gentleman standing nearby waiting for his wife saw our dilemma.  He escorted Jim to the bathroom and out.  What a knight in shining armor – thank you so very much!

Another Pay it Forward we want to throw out is to the Hilton Garden Inn located at 4801 Governor’s Drive, Huntsville, Alabama 35805.  If YOU are ever in the area and need a place to stay, mom and dad highly recommend this location.  There are the nicest people at the front desk.  The hotel is overly accommodating with any need or desire you may have.  Not only did they let mom/dad check in early last week, they recommended some wonderful restaurants and was so nice!  Thanks everyone – the stay was great!!
