Hello sweet friends – Happy 2017!!  Can you believe we finally made it to the new year?  We stayed up a little to watch the fireworks.  We had an awesome seat right in our front room at the Hotel Thompson where we could see out the window.  Some peeps in the hood went crazy – I don’t know how they even had fireworks left for midnight there were so many.  We were all okay as long as mom/dad were in the living room.  And with the noise, we all got to sleep in the big bed with them.  Now that was awesome!

This was one of the pictures that mom took of me and dad on New Years Eve.  Me and dad were having a blast.  I just love sitting behind him on the pillows and looking over his shoulder.  You know – someone has to keep him in line – barks with puppy laughter!

So with the new year comes new Jokes with Daddy – are you looking forward to this?  Today’s Jokes with Daddy is a little special.  You’ll see what I mean.  Have an awesome Friday sweet friends!

Travels in the South

Welcome my friends to another edition of Travels in the South.  Today I want to introduce you to a dessert that is popular here in the south – pecan pie.  There are so many pecan orchards here in Georgia – and they are gorgeous.  But today’s pecan pie has a little twist.  This is chocolate pecan pie.  Yep, you heard it.  As if pecan pie was not sweet enough – let’s throw in some chocolate too with a side of vanilla bean ice cream.  This was a dessert that mom/dad shared over the weekend.   First off – awesome job of those two sharing a dessert.  But look at that pie.  The crust was awesome, the gooey pecan pie mixture was delicious and then the chocolate flavoring in between everything – as mom said, Oh my piggy heavens!

So there you go friends – this week’s Travel in the South find.  Hope you enjoyed it.  Have you ever tried pecan or chocolate pecan pie?

Hello sweet friends!  We survived it – Halloween is now behind us and gone for another year.  I’m kind of excited about that.  Why?  Because that means Thanksgiving and Christmas will be here before you know it.  Now I know we have some stumbling blocks at the end of November – namely that evil Elf on the Shelf here that calls himself Don Juan.  But, we got this my friends.  We can so do this in anticipation of the fat man at Christmas.  Have you gotten your Christmas list started yet?  I’ll tell you a secret – come closer.  Mom/Dad have actually already started.  Can you believe that?  I think both of them are more excited for Christmas this year than I have seen them in a very long time.

So friends – I hope you have a wonderful weekend – we plan to run errands here this weekend.  And we all know what that means — mom’s lap won’t be here.  But don’t worry – I will get my lap time.  I’m a Yorkie.  I demand it – barks to you!!

Barks my friends!  I’m still looking for the *perfect* costume for Halloween.  Since we have been watching a lot of football lately, I thought I could be a quarterback so I dressed up in my football jersey – it comes with shoulder and back pads.  What do you think?  You think coach will call me in to play?  I’ve been know to run around the Hotel Thompson with my football and mom/dad can’t catch me at all.  I may be small but I got me some good legs.

How has your week been?  Last weekend, us anipals had mom/dad all weekend.  We never let them leave the Hotel Thompson – not even once.  I guess it helps that Bacon hid mom’s Jeep keys – barks with puppy laughter.  So this weekend, mom/dad have a LOT of errands to run around and get done.  It kind of stinks but we all look on the bright side knowing that mom will pick us all up something special from the market.  That we can’t wait for!   So do you have anything planned for this weekend?

I leave you now with Jokes from Daddy.  Hope you enjoy sweet friends!

Look at me – I’m a bumble bee.  Buzz-Buzz.  I roll around, fly around and kiss you all over.  Barks with puppy laughter.  This was my outfit that I picked when I went to the spa Saturday.  I had to show my friends that I may be little but I’ve got a huge heart full of love to buzz around them.  Mom says this may be my last year with this outfit because I was getting too big for it.  I don’t know what she means.  I’m not that big at all… no way.  I’m just a smidgen bigger than an actual bee, right?

Have a great weekend my friends.  I now leave you with Jokes with Daddy!

Hey sweet friends.  It’s almost Halloween – can you believe that?!  This week, me, mom and dad went shopping for my outfit.  I think we found one.  But nope, I can’t tell you what it is just yet.  This was us that in the Jeep rolling to the store so I could pick just the right costume.  It has to be cool – not scary though.  Something easy for me to put on and take off… you know if I have to go potty.  But yet something that is current and cute… like me.  We shopping for a while and I think we have one picked out.

Now, I also want to talk about Bacon’s Halloween party on “Before and After”.  Come on friends – you got this.  The challenge is to post a before picture in the morning and an after picture in the day.  It’s Halloween.  So decorate yourself, put on a costume, put on a disguise.  It’s going to be awesome for sure.  Bacon is trying to get mom’s before picture before she gets out of bed… you know so you can see her horns – barks with puppy laughter.  And there are LOTS of filters and photo shop programs out there friends.  Work it and make it yours.  Be sure to join us on Halloween for Bacon’s Before and After.  Have fun with it because that’s what this blog is all about – having fun.

Now, take it away dad –

img_8308Hello sweet friends!  How was your week?  Have you had fun?  Are you ready for the weekend – some awesome football games?  Let me tell you – I LOVE me some football.  In fact, mom/dad were watching a football game this weekend. And yes, they were really getting into the plays.  Well I went and found my football toy cause you know – I wanna play too.  The only thing missing was my football jersey.  So maybe, mom can put that on me next time.  Do you watch football?  Do you have a favorite team?

We absolutely LOVE football here.  The cooler weather, the fires going, the tail gating, the snack foods.  Bacon will tell you in a heartbeat that he comes from a long line of football players… not the team members but the footballs – barks with puppy laughter.  Bacon’s favorite team is the Razorbacks – go figure huh?  But mom/dad’s favorite team is the Tennessee Volunteers.  Did you know that mom/dad’s blood is orange?  I know that’s weird to me too but I hear them all of the time tell people that the bleed orange.  Strange humans.

So what teams do your humans like?  Or do they even like football?  I just like to watch all of the guys run errand on the field chasing their ball.  What can I say, right?

Well my friends, I leave you with Jokes from Daddy.  Have an excellent Friday and weekend ❤

Fear of Heat

Let’s talk about something that is really scary – the fear of heat.  Do you think you can withstand this fear?  Let’s see when i tell you what I’ve found.

First up – the Jalapeño.   I’m sure you have heard of this lovely creature.  On the heat scale, it’s three out of four peppers being hot.  It’s origin is Mexico and these days they are grown everywhere.  You can find them in cheese dips, wrapped with bacon and stuffed with cream cheese, in salsa, in chili – it’s unlimited.  Most peeps can withstand the heat on this one… most.

Then we move up to the fierce red Habanero.  The Habanero is a variety of chili pepper.  On the heat scale, it’s five out of five peppers being exceptionally hot.  A ripe Habanero is bright red where a unripened Habanero is green.  So you see, they color as they mature into their full potential.  They can also come in different colors – look for the beautiful orange.  The Habanero comes from the Amazonas region and from there spread throughout Mexico.

Whereas you might enter a contest to be dared to eat a Jalapeño and survive the contest, you might want to think twice about a contest eating a Habanero.  Mom has said once that she believes the Habanero was made by the devil himself because he thought all other peppers were ‘tame’.

I’m sure you have heard about these two famous peppers.  But let’s go deeper my friends.  Are you ready for the fear?  How about wrapping your lips around a Ghost Pepper?  Maybe your lips shouldn’t touch this pepper.  The Ghost Pepper originates in India.  On the heat scale, the Ghost Pepper is also five peppers out of five peppers being exceptionally hot.  In 2007, the Guinness World Records certified that the Ghost Pepper was the world’s hottest chili pepper – 400 times hotter than Tabasco sauce.  Can you wrap your lips around that?

And you probably thought I could stop right there with the fear of heat in peppers.   But I can’t.  I found one more for you to fear.  Are you shaking yet?  Let me introduce you to the hottest pepper these days – The Carolina Reaper Pepper.  Okay it’s called the Reaper – does that not tell you anything? You are certain for death eating this bad boy – fear it!  The Reaper is officially  the world’s hottest pepper by the Guinness World Records.  It is a cross between a Pakastani Naga pepper and a Red Habanero.  Can you just feel the heat over your lips, down your throat to the deep pits of your stomach?

Is today’s post scary enough for you my friends or do I need to start making some brownies for you… of course with these peppers?  Happy eats my friends.

Liars!

No – not you my friends.  Never you.  Television commercials.  That’s it.  Have you noticed the lies that spew out of that box?  I’m here to tell you it’s true.  Lies – Lies – Lies.  Products that do this.  Clothes that make you feel that.   Shaking my head.  Lies.  Whatever happened to truth in advertising?   I bet you are asking yourself why I’m so pigcited over something that you already knew.  I’ll tell you why in one word – Mom.

You see, mom sweet mom, saw a certain commercial on television.  After watching it, she got this ‘look’ in her eyes.  I’ve seen that look my friends.  It means trouble.  And in this case it was trouble with a capital T.  The next day, she came home with a bag in her hand.  Took out the product, looked at daddy and tried the product.  After opening her eyes, she looked at daddy again.  I didn’t get it.  He was still the same.  Mom on the other hoof, lost it, snorted and went into the kitchen.  You want to know what commercial it was don’t you?  Okay, I’ll show it to you.  But let me tell you straight up.  It doesn’t work.  Snorts with piggy laughter.

Journey with Friends

Welcome my friends to our weekly issue of Journey with Friends.  This is a time that we come together for support, for encouragement, for fellowship – all with one single goal in mind – to live better.  Welcome to our journey to share our goals and our accomplishments and our disappointments and frustrations.

Together we can do this!

Hello friends.  How did you do last week?  It still remains so hot here.  It’s almost unbearable.  All you want to do is stay inside anywhere near a fan or the air conditioner.  We are all so ready for a bit of cooler weather here in the south.  It seemed like last year, we went straight from winter to HOT summer with no in between of Spring.  I’m hoping that we have some fall this year.  That’s my favorite time of the year – you?  I love watching the leaves change and everything starting to go into hibernation.

This week, we are stepping things up here at the Hotel Thompson.  We have been straying here/there and sometimes more there then it should be.  With that in mind, we are going to do better.  It’s also suppose to rain some this week.  I’m hoping that it brings some cooler weather with that rain.  So much easier to breathe without the heat.  I did walk 4.73 miles – not my best but I’m not hating that with this weather.

So, how did you do my friends and what are your plans for this week?

Miles Walked Since 06/13/2016:  63.57 miles
