Explain This To Me

So mom goes to the store yesterday to buy a few things.  One of the things on her list is deodorant. So mom goes down the aisle looking for deodorant and starts laughing.  Daddy asks what is up.  Mommy said told him that Secret has a line of deodorant out with fragrances from around the world.  For instance, Brazil, Hawaii, Paris and she even saw one from Australia.  Daddy then started laughing.  I mean it is kind of funny.  What exactly do these places ‘smell’ like?  And by all means, if you had a deodorant from your area, do share – what would it smell like?

7 Weeks of Weird

Today my new friend here is highlighting 7 weeks of weird in “Weirdest things you collect”.

This is a really easy week.  It really is.  I think most of my friends here know that I collect a really weird item.  What?  You don’t know?  Sure you do.  I collect pet rocks. 🙂   You think that’s weird enough?

You know that it all started with my first pet rock Bashful.  He was a gift.  He’s my little international rolling stone and travels around the world visiting my friends and having fun. He looks so innocent and has an innocent name but don’t let that fool you.  He’s quite the ladies rock – snorts.  Every time he goes somewhere, he always brings home a friend.

His friends include Princess Coralena from Hawaii, Manny from France, Rockelle from Australia, Virginia from Virginia,  Benedict Cumberock from the United Kingdom and Koishi from Japan.

Dear Bacon

Dear Bacon,
They always say that grass is always greener on the other side.  Well, I stuck my head through the fence to look at the other side.  And you know what?  It doesn’t look greener.  Can you hear what I’m saying pig?  It does *not* look greener.  Signed Mythbuster Goat

Dear Mythbuster Goat,
Thank you for letting me know that.  I’ve always wondered about the grass being greener on the other side.  I just never knew what the other side was.  Now I do.  You’ve helped *me* out so very much.

Dear Bacon,
What?  I’m only helping my brother out in getting all of the crumbs on the bottom of the bowl.  Really?  Cause you know all of the good stuff is on the bottom of the bowl.  Honestly.  Signed Chef Paw

Dear Chef Paw,
I will take your word for that.  Take it from an expert who is used to getting all of his crumbs, it’s much easier just to flip the bowl over.  That way, you can get some of the crumbs as well.  Just a tip my friend….and thank goodness your brother wasn’t drinking water.

Dear Bacon,
I was having a dream that I was fixing to eat the biggest hot dog in the entire world.  It look so delicious.  I could almost taste it.  Then I woke up cause I bit my paw.  What a let down.  Do you ever dream of eating food?  Signed Dog Dreams

Dear Dog Dreams,
Snorticles.  Do I ever have those dreams – snorts.  That’s like asking me if I’m hungry.  Of course I have those dreams.  I can’t say though that I’ve ever tried to eat a paw or hoove.  My legs are too short to reach my mouth – thank goodness! That must have been a mighty good dream my friend.

Dear Bacon,
Where are the clothes pins when you need them?  Sometimes I just need a few to pin back the wrinkles on my head.  That way, maybe my tongue wouldn’t fall out of my mouth when I’m sleeping.  You think?  Signed Rip Van Pup

Dear Rip Van Pup,
I feel you my friend.  I totally feel you.  Sometimes when I sleep, everything wonders into their own zipcode.  My mom feels the same way.  All it means though is you are totally relaxed and comfortable in your environment.  That’s a good thing.

.

20140126-165645.jpg

Dear Bacon,
Bottoms up!  I saw the pictures you had of Bashful at Tybee Island last October.  They really intrigued me.  I thought I would stick my head in the ocean to see if I could find Sponge Bob and Patrick.  I didn’t see them but got a lot of water in my trunk.  And by the way, does this ocean make my butt look big?  Signed Scubaphant

Dear Subaphant,
I’m so sorry little guy.  Bashful saw Spongebob at Tybee last year because they were doing a movie on the island.  I think afterwards he went back home to Hawaii.  But I say, keep looking cause you never know where he might wash up on shore.  As far as your butt, it looks just fine.  I only wish mine was that cute!

Bashful is Back Home – YAY!

20131211-105628.jpg Bashful made it back to the Hotel Thompson from Australia!

We all stayed up really late last night talking about his travels and misadventures.  OMP (oh my pig)!  He had a blast down under.  And like Las Vegas, some things that happened in Australia stay in Australia if you know what I mean – winks winks.

You’re not going to accept that, are you?  You want the juicy details of his wicked time with Bimby while making his short silent movie Rockadile Dundee.  I’m sorry.

I can’t tell you any of the juicy details.  Bashful said that a gentlerock does not talk about his ladies.  aaaww – I raised that little pebble right!

.

20131211-105635.jpg

The little international rolling stone came home with some great treasures of his time spent with his host family.  The above left handed picture is Bashful in his suit that he wore to the wedding. What a handsome little guy!  He now refers to that suit as his 007 Rock Bond outfit.  What a riot!  He told me late last night that he wore his suit out one night when he took Bimby out for a date – 🙂

The picture to the right is of Bashful and his Australian outback hat.  What a looker!  And you see that item behind him?  That is a hand painted boomerang from Australia that came home with him.  I’ve already caught him throwing it around the house.  We’ve all learned how to duck really fast with that thing flying about.  And never fear about his cross eyed look in the picture.  I think he was slightly inebriated from the long flight home.  You know, they’ll serve anyone a drink these days in the happy air above.  I guess there is no ‘under age’ in the sky.

20131211-105649.jpg

This picture to the left is of the other goodies that Bashful came home with that was in his luggage.  Stickers of all different things – Koala bears, snakes and Kangaroos.  Bashful told me that I could have some of them to put in our bedroom – I can’t wait to decorate my board.

And you know, they didn’t forget mom either.  See that fluffy pen in the picture?  It’s a Mickey Mouse pen!  It lights up when you write with it.  Mommy is in love with that pen.  I do believe she took it to the worky place so she can use/look at it every day.

.

Fozziemom and company was even so nice to send the purr things some treats.  Trust me, those little vultures jumped on that bag like it was crack!

20131211-105657.jpgAnd talking about crack – snorts.  See that can to the left beside the Koala pouch, Bashful is hooked on that stuff!  Mom/dad tried some last night and gave me a small bite.  OMP (oh my pig!).  It is GOOD!  No wonder that little Bashful couldn’t stay out of it.  It’s peppermint glory.

And you’re probably wondering about that Koala pouch.  It is the cutest little thing that zips up.  There was something amazing in that little pouch.  I’m getting too ahead of myself so you’ll have to wait for what it was. I promise to tell you.

.

20131211-105705.jpgAnd of course, we have to show a picture of the intellectual Bashful with his glasses on and sporting his hat.  Can you believe he went to bed last night wearing that?  And yes, he used his specks when he was reading to us out loud about his adventures in his travel log.

Can you believe that we also had a slide show of his side trip to Sydney?  Oh gracious – it was a hoot.  He visited so many places while down under.  I think we will be hearing about his tales for some time to come.

But, we are talking about the international rolling stone – my Bashful.  He will be home for a couple of more days and then he is off to his next host family and his next adventure.  Where will it be?  Only me and the next host family will know.

.

20131211-105724.jpgBut before he hops that plane, we had to take some family pictures of the “Rock Clan”.  There they all are on their sofa in their bedroom getting to know each other.

From left to right, they are:

Princess Coralena (from Hawaii), Mannie (from France), Virginia (from Virginia), Bashful and wait a minute – who is that?

.

20131211-105734.jpg

May I introduce you to the newest member of the Hotel Thompson.  This is Rockelle from Australia.  She is in this picture wearing Bashful’s Australian hat and wait – what is that?  She is siding up with Bashful and they are a twosome?!  Stop the presses – Bashful came home with a girlfriend?!  And they know how to grow them in Australia.  She has the cutest little accent and look at that purple eyeshadow.  She has so woo’ed the little guy.

And you’re probably wondering about how Princess Coralena must be feeling about this.  Well, let’s just say there’s going to be a rock fight about whose rock Bashful really is.  I can feel it in my bones.  But Bashful, he’s a young tyke.  He needs to experience life right now.  He can always settle down when he hangs up his travel boots, right?

So, to Fozziemom and clan – thank you so much for hosting a great time for the little fellow.  I know he had an awesome time and will always cherish his memories with you in Australia.  You were great.

But the bottom question remains – where will Bashful end up next?

Happy Friday and Such –

Another Friday is upon us – we all survived another long week!

I plan on hanging out at the Hotel Thompson.  I’m trying to enjoy every minute with mommy that I can in the next couple of weeks before they go on vacation.  Saturday is me and mom bonding day.  We might even try to go in the back yard and play in the leaves.  It’s a possibility.  Mommy says it’s fun.  I’m not so sure at this point.  I’ll keep you posted on my findings.

Sunday I think mom and dad are having date night – eeww. I still don’t get ‘date’ night.  Don’t they see enough of each other during the week?

Do ya’ll have anything planned?

20130909-085248.jpg

I wanted to share something with you that me and daddy saw on “Who Wants to be a Millionaire” earlier in the week.  I was totally in awe and fascinated – so was daddy.

The question came up <<look to the left>> that asked the following:

High concentrations of the mineral olivine are what make the sand at Hawaii’s Papakolea Beach uniquely what color.

Me and dad looked at each other and automatically said it at the same time.  Okay – maybe he said it and I oinked it – GREEN.  And you are probably saying you’re such a smart piggy.  Well, let me remind you of something.  Earlier in the month of September, I did a posting on Papakolea Beach.  You can see it at https://piglove.wordpress.com/2013/09/04/papakolea-beach-and-princess-coralena/

That is how we knew the answer!  So what does this tell you?  Reading my blog can make you smarter!  Who would have thought that, huh?

So, share with your friends.  You never know what you might learn from my blog page.

It could be anything and everything my friends!

Happy weekend – have fun!

Papakōlea Beach and Princess Coralena

Mommy has a friend from work named I.B.  He recently went all the way to Hawaii for vacation with his family.

Before he left, mommy asked him to bring Bashful back a friend.  Isn’t that sweet of her?  Someone to keep Bashful company when he gets back home from France.  Someone he can hang out with at the Hotel Thompson.  Someone he can actually talk to face to face instead of skyping all of his rock friends.  You know, someone he can just hang with.

Well, emails were sent back and forth during the vacation between mom and I.B.  When he came back to work, he brought back a friend.  Let me tell you the story.

.

.

One day, I.B. and his family traveled to Papakōlea Beach.  I.B. took all of these gorgeous pictures of the beach that he gave to mommy to share on this post.  Aren’t they amazing!?

Papakōlea Beach is also known as Green Sand Beach or Mahana Beach.  It is one of only FOUR green beaches in the world.  That’s right.  I said green beaches.   The sand coloring comes from a mineral called olivine.  Olivine is a common mineral component of Hawaiian lavas and is one of the first crystals to form as magma cools.

You learned something new, didn’t you? Let me add this – locally in Hawaii, olivine is known as Hawaiian Diamond.  Sounds rich doesn’t it?

So I.B. and his family went to this Green Sand Beach.  The only way to get to it  is by foot and climbing down a cinder cone.  And you are probably asking yourself, “Self, what is a cinder cone?”  Snorts – I’ll admit it.  I had to look that one up myself friends.  Let’s have a quick science lesson shall we.  A cinder cone is part of a volcano.  Cinders look kind of glassy.  This glassy look is made by gas bubbles that were frozen into place as the magma exploded into the air and then cooled quickly.

This sounds like a mysterious and magical place in a land far, far away from us here at the Hotel Thompson.nd Beach is a bay circled by Puʻu Mahana.  Puʻu Mahana is a cinder cone that was formed over 49,000 years ago.  The cinder cone has partially collapsed and been eroded by the ocean.

You know, I wanted to know exactly how many miles that was from my home so I asked Jeeves 🙂 Jeeves said it was roughly 4,497.00 miles one way.  WOW!  That’s a lot of miles!

.

You know there is a reason why I’m going over all of the facts about this beautiful place and I.B.’s vacation.  He brought back a “friend” for Bashful.  Now Bashful hasn’t met this friend yet because he’s still traveling home from France.  But, I wanted to introduce her to all of my friends here.  She’s been with us for about a week now and yep I said “SHE” as in hubba-hubba.

20130826-105443.jpg

This is Princess Coralena – all the way from Papakōlea Beach, Hawaii.  Isn’t she a looker?  So curvy and so much woman!  I just know that Bashful is going to fall in love.  I mean heck, me and daddy already have!  Snorts – what’s not to love with those pouty lips.  I think she has this little piggy wrapped right around her anywhere she wants!

Personally, I think she has been reincarnated from one of the virgin sacrifices they used to do in volcanoes.  I mean look at her – she’s gorgeous!

What do you think about Bashful’s new friend?  I’m personally thinking we are going to have to keep them separated at bedtime.  We don’t need any pebbles under feet right now.  They are both WAY too young.
