NO! Just say NO to Daddy Elf

Daddy I have a word for you with that new hat of yours –

N.O.

No elf hats will be allowed here in the Hotel Thompson.  Nope.  Never.  They remind me too much of that evil little freak Don Juan who better not come back here next year.  You heard that right.  He better not.

If he does, I’ve got an entire year to think of strategy in removing him from this household.  I’m off to work on that strategy now.

Defy Superstition Day

Journalist Rocky the Squirrel here –

Keeping my paws on the nuts of the world!

 .

Today, September 13th, is Defy Superstition Day!  Exactly what does that mean, right?  Well, you know all of those superstitions you’ve heard about all of your life like the following:

13 is an unlucky number; walking under a ladder; opening an umbrella inside of the house; black cats crossing your path; unlucky to put a hat on a bed

All of these are just that – superstitions.  Today, is your opportunity to break those beliefs.  Don’t worry about these superstitions – live life today at your fullest with no thoughts or worries that something bad might happen… especially if that black cat crosses your path.  Today – there are no superstitions.

Bacon’s Show and Tell

Welcome my friends to this months Bacon’s Show and Tell.  We are highlighting a picture from your childhood.  Something that you have fond memories about and/or a story behind.

My dad when he was younger had a love for cowboy things – hats, boots, etc.  He wore them all of the time and would hardly take things off.  He even told his mother when he was younger, he wanted to wear this attire for his yearly Christmas picture.  So off they went.  Him in his cowboy hat, boots and winter coat.

He climbed up on Santa’s lap and told him what he wanted for Christmas.  Of course, more action figures, toys and you guessed it – more cowboy stuff.  You can see from Santa’s face how enthralled he was at the information and for dad’s details of exactly what kind of everything he wanted.  Looking at the picture, daddy’s mom *almost* felt sorry for Santa… almost.

 .

And this is mommy.  She is all decked out in a handmade shawl and hat that I believe was what her grandmother made.  She was a happy baby and excited for most picture days.   I think this picture was actually taken around Easter one year.

And hey look at those chubby cheeks – you want to pinch them don’t you?  I hope you had fun my friends with this month’s Bacon’s Show and Tell.  See you next month!

Festive Daddy

You know I thought last week was the best when daddy sported a festive rocking hat.  Well, I was wrong my friends.  I found another one on mom’s phone.  O.M.P. (Oh my pigs!)  This one has to be priceless.  What is up with dad’s face?  Does wearing those hats make his face do these weird things? Snorts

I wonder if it’s somewhere around here at the Hotel Thompson.  I really need to find it if it is.  I could have so much fun with it – could you?  What do you think of this one?

ASPCA Rachael Ray Giveaway

AAWW – A while back I won a giveaway on my friend Coco’s web page.  You can read all about it here. We found out while we were on vacation at the beach a couple of weeks ago.  We were totally psyched!  Me win – HOORAY!  This could not have happened at a perfect time – you know since we got the little guy Houdini here at the Hotel Thompson.

IMG_0135.JPG

Yesterday around noon, there was a knock on the door and it was the Federal Express guy.  Now I’m just going to say that he might have jumped a little at first when I came to the door with daddy – snorts.  He wasn’t expecting me but I sure was expecting my package made out to me might I add – 🙂

And of course daddy was being a loser but not letting me open my package until mommy got home – turd head.  But he did let me call mommy to tell her that it came.  I’m not sure who was more excited – me, mommy or Houdini who didn’t know what was happening.

IMG_0136.JPG

So as soon as mom got home, we let her put her things down before we started on about opening the package.  It was Christmas here at the Hotel Thompson!  A toy dog, a blankie, a bandana, a pop up water bowl, a travel mug, cookies (the kind that daddy can actually eat – snorts), a frisbee toy and a hat with cat ears.  OMP – score for Little Man Houdini!!

.

.

And mom – oh my silly mom.  She loves the hat with cat ears.  Don’t you think it is so her!?

And the tote that everything came in – that is awesome!  It’s HUGE and insulated.  Mom said there are so many things she can use that with.

So we have to say some shout outs and thank you’s to the following:

Katie and Cocco – Smooches! ❤

Rachael Ray

Ya’ll ROCK!

Play with Your Food?

Daddy was goofing off with his iPad and found this picture of a banana wearing a hat.  Yep, of all of the things daddy could be looking at, he was looking at bananas.  Strange human he is.

He thought this banana was the cutest thing well since me – snorts.  I just shook my piggy head and walked away.  Walked away that is until I heard him ask mommy, “Hey, we got any nanners in the house?”

Okay, so I redirected my walk back towards daddy.  I mean hey, he’s discussing *my* “nanners” as he calls them.  What did he want with them?  I know he’s not going to eat one.

Yep, you guessed it.  The rocket scientist wanted to play with my food to make said banana hat.  WTP (what the pig!)  I get in trouble when I play with my food and mom is going to let him?  I watched slightly intrigued as to how long this was going to take before he gave up and gave me my banana.

After twenty minutes – rolls piggy eyes – dad did accomplish a somewhat crooked nothing like what this picture looked like of the banana wearing a hat. WOW.  Amazing dad.  Really.  Way to go.

Can I have my banana now?  Snorts.

Bashful is Back Home – YAY!

20131211-105628.jpg Bashful made it back to the Hotel Thompson from Australia!

We all stayed up really late last night talking about his travels and misadventures.  OMP (oh my pig)!  He had a blast down under.  And like Las Vegas, some things that happened in Australia stay in Australia if you know what I mean – winks winks.

You’re not going to accept that, are you?  You want the juicy details of his wicked time with Bimby while making his short silent movie Rockadile Dundee.  I’m sorry.

I can’t tell you any of the juicy details.  Bashful said that a gentlerock does not talk about his ladies.  aaaww – I raised that little pebble right!

.

20131211-105635.jpg

The little international rolling stone came home with some great treasures of his time spent with his host family.  The above left handed picture is Bashful in his suit that he wore to the wedding. What a handsome little guy!  He now refers to that suit as his 007 Rock Bond outfit.  What a riot!  He told me late last night that he wore his suit out one night when he took Bimby out for a date – 🙂

The picture to the right is of Bashful and his Australian outback hat.  What a looker!  And you see that item behind him?  That is a hand painted boomerang from Australia that came home with him.  I’ve already caught him throwing it around the house.  We’ve all learned how to duck really fast with that thing flying about.  And never fear about his cross eyed look in the picture.  I think he was slightly inebriated from the long flight home.  You know, they’ll serve anyone a drink these days in the happy air above.  I guess there is no ‘under age’ in the sky.

20131211-105649.jpg

This picture to the left is of the other goodies that Bashful came home with that was in his luggage.  Stickers of all different things – Koala bears, snakes and Kangaroos.  Bashful told me that I could have some of them to put in our bedroom – I can’t wait to decorate my board.

And you know, they didn’t forget mom either.  See that fluffy pen in the picture?  It’s a Mickey Mouse pen!  It lights up when you write with it.  Mommy is in love with that pen.  I do believe she took it to the worky place so she can use/look at it every day.

.

Fozziemom and company was even so nice to send the purr things some treats.  Trust me, those little vultures jumped on that bag like it was crack!

20131211-105657.jpgAnd talking about crack – snorts.  See that can to the left beside the Koala pouch, Bashful is hooked on that stuff!  Mom/dad tried some last night and gave me a small bite.  OMP (oh my pig!).  It is GOOD!  No wonder that little Bashful couldn’t stay out of it.  It’s peppermint glory.

And you’re probably wondering about that Koala pouch.  It is the cutest little thing that zips up.  There was something amazing in that little pouch.  I’m getting too ahead of myself so you’ll have to wait for what it was. I promise to tell you.

.

20131211-105705.jpgAnd of course, we have to show a picture of the intellectual Bashful with his glasses on and sporting his hat.  Can you believe he went to bed last night wearing that?  And yes, he used his specks when he was reading to us out loud about his adventures in his travel log.

Can you believe that we also had a slide show of his side trip to Sydney?  Oh gracious – it was a hoot.  He visited so many places while down under.  I think we will be hearing about his tales for some time to come.

But, we are talking about the international rolling stone – my Bashful.  He will be home for a couple of more days and then he is off to his next host family and his next adventure.  Where will it be?  Only me and the next host family will know.

.

20131211-105724.jpgBut before he hops that plane, we had to take some family pictures of the “Rock Clan”.  There they all are on their sofa in their bedroom getting to know each other.

From left to right, they are:

Princess Coralena (from Hawaii), Mannie (from France), Virginia (from Virginia), Bashful and wait a minute – who is that?

.

20131211-105734.jpg

May I introduce you to the newest member of the Hotel Thompson.  This is Rockelle from Australia.  She is in this picture wearing Bashful’s Australian hat and wait – what is that?  She is siding up with Bashful and they are a twosome?!  Stop the presses – Bashful came home with a girlfriend?!  And they know how to grow them in Australia.  She has the cutest little accent and look at that purple eyeshadow.  She has so woo’ed the little guy.

And you’re probably wondering about how Princess Coralena must be feeling about this.  Well, let’s just say there’s going to be a rock fight about whose rock Bashful really is.  I can feel it in my bones.  But Bashful, he’s a young tyke.  He needs to experience life right now.  He can always settle down when he hangs up his travel boots, right?

So, to Fozziemom and clan – thank you so much for hosting a great time for the little fellow.  I know he had an awesome time and will always cherish his memories with you in Australia.  You were great.

But the bottom question remains – where will Bashful end up next?

Dear Bacon

20130531-235655.jpgDear Bacon,
You’ve caught us.  This is what we do when the humans aren’t looking.  ssshh – kind of keep it to yourself okay.  You’re welcomed to join us anytime – just bring your lightsaber.  Signed Squirrel Wars

Dear Squirrel Wars,

Hey – I’m in!  This looks like fun.  Party in the back of the Hotel Thompson this weekend.  I’ll call Journalist Rocky the Squirrel to get the invites out.  Thanks my friends!

.

20130531-235711.jpgDear Bacon,
Part of fitting in is the disguise.  I’ve been hanging out on the pier now for two whole days and no one has noticed me.  I think it’s the hat – maybe the fishing rod.  So I now know the answer to life’s greatest problem – blend in with the humans.  What do you think?  You want me to get you a rod and hat to come out with me?  Signed BirdGilligan

Dear BirdGilligan,

WOW!  I’m glad you told me who you were, I would have never guessed it!  You do blend in so well.  I’m wondering if I wore that outfit would humans ever think it was me?  How about I try to meet you soon and we can test that theory?  But first of all, I have to ask.  Can you lift 45 pounds?  Because if the humans catch on, you gotta get me out of there before they start looking at you as a two piece and me as bar-be-que.  Shivers.

.

20130531-235720.jpg
Dear Bacon,
I’m in the police academy trying out for a police officer.  I think I have the gun stance down.  You think?  Why don’t you come join me?  I’ve heard it runs in your family and perhaps someone in the family can put in a good word for us?  Signed Stop or I’ll Shoot

Dear Stop or I’ll Shoot,

That is a good stance.  I’m impressed.  I don’t think that I’m ‘police officer’ material in that way though.  My hooves – well they just get in the way when I try to hold some heat.  I’m more of a Pig9… you know something like a K9 but with me, an oinker.  With this snout, I think I can be trained to smell out all of the bad things out there.  But hey, what if we were partners?  You the bad cop and me the good cop – raises eyebrows.  That would work partner!

.

20130531-235738.jpgDear Bacon,
HELP!  There’s something on my noise and I can’t see it.  It tickles.  Hurry, what is it?  Is it dangerous?!  Signed Crossed Eyes

Dear Crossed Eyes,

Snort giggles.  Never fear my purr friend.  It’s just a lady bug.  They are good luck.  I think she likes you.  Maybe be nice to her and make a new friend.  There’s nothing to harm you little guy.

.

20130531-235801.jpg

Dear Bacon,

I think me and my friend are twins!  We both have some of the same characteristics – you know like being devious and mischievous – purr laugh.  I think it’s the constant smile that pulls the humans into our lives.  There’s only one small, tiny, little difference.  My friend can reshape his body to frighten peeps.  I can almost do that… not the way he does but I’m learning.  Signed Cheshire in Training

Dear Cheshire in Training,

WOW – I almost couldn’t tell the difference between you two.  That smile – it’s almost identical my friend.  Perhaps you can play his stunt double in real life?  That’s always an idea.  Just think of the fame and fortune you would have.  Carry on my friend and keep smiling.

Remember friends – keep sending you pictures and questions to me at Baconthompson@gmail.com
