Dear Bacon – I’m just being friendly. That’s it. Really I am. He looked so lonely in the cage. I just thought I would pop in to say hey and you know give him a reassuring pat of assurance from me. That’s it. Really. Signed Felix the Friendly Kitty
Dear Felix the Friendly Kitty – Sure buddy. Whatever you say. Just remember though that the proof is now in pictures. That means no mistakes in your friendly ‘pats of assurance’. Just sayin’ my friend.
Dear Bacon – I’ve heard you come from a long line of football players. We know not players per say but footballs themselves – Barks! Well, we gotta game going in our hood all of the time. Next time you are in the area, join us. And don’t worry, we won’t deflate the ball at all. Signed Peyton, Tom, Eli and Brady
Dear Peyton, Tom, Eli and Brady – What guys you are. Thanks for the invite and I will definitely keep that in mind. Can’t wait for the football season to start this year!.
Dear Bacon – There was this pot that mom had on the porch. She grows beautiful things in it. So I was thinking that I’m a puppy and maybe for me to grow into something beautiful, I would pot myself. I jumped in and added water. Is it working yet? Signed Puppy Flower
Dear Puppy Flower – I don’t really think that is how it happens my friend. But on the other hoof, you look really cute in that bucket. And hey you got a bath out of it too. I say just be you. You are going to grow up soon enough. And remember one final thought buddy. You are already beautiful.
.
..
Dear Bacon – Sometimes no matter how small you are, one needs to draw the line. The humans put me in a wine glass. What.were.they.thinking? A wine glass. I’m not a wine glass kind of pup. I think I’m more of an oversized coffee cup kind of pooch. What do you think? Signed Small Barks
Dear Small Barks – I have to say my friend, either way I think you are cute in either a wine glass or a coffee cup. I think you should play it for everything it’s worth. Make the humans pay in so many different ways – extra treats, extra puppy chow. .
Dear Bacon – I have to say a puppy power nap is sometimes the best thing you can do. I highly recommend them any time during the day or night. Take notes from me pal. Don’t forget your blankie and pillow. Signed Sleepy Town
Dear Sleepy Town – WOW! You are the posted child for a puppy power nap my friend. I love it and trust me. I am so taking notes!
.
REMEMBER my friends – Dear Bacon issues can’t happen without YOU. Please remember to email me your picture and letters.
Last November, mom/dad traveled to Chicago, Illinois. Or should I say, mom planned a trip and told dad absolutely nothing about it until the car came and picked them up at the Hotel Thompson the morning of departure. Mom had already packed everything for their adventure. Why Chicago? Well first up, my Aunt Tina lives there with my cousin Sherlock Bones. Second up, daddy has *always* wanted to go to Ditka’s Chicago. Are you asking yourself what is that? Well Mike Ditka is a former football player, was an awesome coach and a television commentator. He coached the Chicago Bears back in the day which was one of dad’s favorite teams.
In the next couple of weeks, we will be highlighting some of the food that everyone enjoyed during their trip to Ditka’s Chicago.
Have you enjoyed these past couple of weeks my friends sharing in mom/dad’s adventure at Ditka’s Chicago?
Today we leave with the best picture of them all – dessert.
On the dessert menu, it was so hard to decide on something to share.
And we had to share – we had so much food! We settled on peanut butter pie – licks lips. It had whipped cream, peanut butter mousse, chocolate and caramel sauces.
By splitting this wonderful masterpiece, mom/dad said they all had split the calories too. And they said it was wonderfully sinful!
And trust me, everyone had so much food! Look at all of the leftover boxes that they went home with to eat later ❤

Doesn’t this dish look mouth watering? We saved one of the coolest things we experienced at the restaurant for last. A lot of times, mom/dad split meals when they go out. This night was no different. Mom/dad decided to split the 16 ounce slow roasted prime rib. This plate comes with burgundy mushrooms (that melted in your mouth), horseradish cream and an au jus. Mom also had the steak added with a horseradish crust. They were expecting to get one giant steak delivered to the table to split. But no. The restaurant was so awesome that they went ahead and ‘split’ the steak in the kitchen and delivered two dishes like the one above, one for mom and one for dad. Wasn’t that awesome?! And the steak was so tender that you didn’t need a knife to even cut it. It was juicy and had the best flavor with the horseradish and mushrooms. Dad said he would give two thumbs up for sure!

Doesn’t this look amazing?! It’s on the menu under shareable sides called King Crab Risotto. It looks mouth watering and out of this world! The risotto was creamy and the crab meat sweet and tender. We all got some of this delicacy. Mine was great. However, my hub unit’s first mouthful was full of shell. WTH?! It would be the blind guy getting shell. So we thought it was just a chance thing. That’s when all of us starting getting shells in every bite. We had a collection of shells by the time the waitress came by to check on us. The waitress was concerned and brought the manager over to talk to us – we didn’t ask for him. This is when you can tell the difference in an upscale restaurant. He immediately was taken back by the amount of shell’s in our King Crab Risotto. Yes, there might be an occasional shell due to the amount they are putting out but *never* something like this. He was very apologetic. Would we get it again? Absolutely! Never make a judgement on the first time – we will definitely try it again. Stay with us next week to see what else we ordered here.

Welcome back my friends as we continue our trip in Chicago to Ditka’s Chicago. Today I want to show you something that Aunt Tina ordered at this fabulous restaurant. Do you see that picture? Does that not look like a rack of Fred Flinstone ribs? So tender and so wonderful – served with a side of fries to the left of the plate. Can you say WOW look at all of that food? And the picture really doesn’t do it justice because it was such a huge plate of goodness.
Make sure you come back next week to see what mom/dad split at the restaurant. Oh my goodness – so much more yummy!!
And remember I told you that this entire trip was a surprise for daddy? Watch this video for his reaction… and next week I’ll show you something that happened to them at the airport – you won’t want to miss that my dear friends!

Like in this picture. This is an appetizer called Coconut Crusted Shrimp. It is settled in a bang bang sauce with a basil oil. A little spicy on one hand but delightfully sweet on the other hand to balance the shrimp. And that is also a piece of fried lemon on top of the shrimp. It was a wonderful way to start the meal.
First off, let’s talk about the most important bowl game today – Puppy Bowl. The show starts promptly at 3PM on the Animal Planet. If you’ve never seen the Puppy Bowl, you really need to watch it today. It is totally awesome and keeps me busy cheering for hours. Daddy has his game later today (which I’ll tell you about in a minute) and I have my game with the Puppy Bowl.
And don’t think that the Puppy Bowl is just about a lot of puppies on the screen doing nothing. There’s actually a referee, puppy touchdowns, penalties, timeouts and substitutions. That’s right – it’s a Puppy Bowl to see!
The rules are easy. Puppies go on the field and when a puppy drags one of the football shaped toys into the end zone, a puppy touchdown is declared. If a puppy has an accident on the field by ‘going to the bathroom’, a penalty is called. If the water bowls need to be refilled or puppies get into a fight, timeouts are called. And, you know what they call it when the puppies get into squabbles? Unnecessary rrruuufffness. Snorts. And if the puppies fall asleep, substitutions are sent in to play.
Over the years, they’ve had different ‘cheerleaders’. In the past, I’ve seen hedgehogs, bunny cheerleaders, chicken cheerleaders and my favorite in 2012 was the Piggy Pep Squad. Personally, I think they need to bring the Piggy Pep Squad back. I would *so* want to try out for the team. I think I have what it takes. I have the look. I have the chemistry. I have the personality. I can dance.
But if the Puppy Bowl doesn’t it do it for you, you can always wait for dad’s game later today at 6:30PM. THE Super Bowl. Two really good teams will be going head to head – New England Patriots vs Philadelphia Eagles.
And don’t forget the half time show on the Super Bowl either. This year they are going to have Justin Timberlake performing.
And the other thing about the Super Bowl, you *have* to watch the commercials. They are usually the most hilarious commercials to remember for the night. So my friends, get your snacks and drinks ready. Go to the potty early so you can enjoy all of the fun today. Get comfy on the couch. I’m going to be watching the shows all day long. And hopefully, mom will pop me some popcorn.
Today, September 4th is Labor Day. Labor Day is celebrated every year on the first Monday of September and is a United States federal holiday. Labor Day celebrates the social and economic contributions of workers. This day is often associated with parades, food and the end of summer. Labor Day also marks the beginning of the NFL and college football seasons – YAY!.
So this day, enjoy your cookout. Enjoy your family. Celebrate your day and be safe my friends!
Barks! Hey my friends. Hope your week is going awesome. Last weekend, I spent some time at the Spa. Someone here at the Hotel Thompson told me how much fun it was to go in our magic backyard and roll in mud – I’m not mentioning names but we all know who oinks and snorts in these parts. Well, I did. And guess what. That mud sticks to your fur in places it doesn’t need to stick if you know what I mean. I didn’t find it fun at all. Mom let me out just for “a few minutes” she said and then came back to a mud caked Yorkshire Terror– her words not mine. She was taking me in that day anyway to the Spa. I just wanted to make sure they earned their money when they gave me my oatmeal bath. See, I was helping mom out, right?
I came back home later in the day and mom had bought me a new toy. OMD! That toy is the bomb. It’s my favorite this week for sure… well at least today. You roll it, squeak it and it lights up. OMD – I played with it until I wore myself out. I had mom take a video to share it with you my friends. I hope you enjoy it and Jokes with Dad. Have a great weekend and remember to roll in some mud ❤
Barks! Hey dear friends. Hope your week has been going splendid. I’ve been hanging out at the Hotel Thompson enjoying my DOGtv. Do you remember a couple of weeks ago when I told you about DOGtv? You can read about it here. Something important has happened since I first told you about DOGtv. I wrote DOGtv, linked my original posting and told them how much I love their channel. Well, Zuri from DOGtv wrote me back and they have extended all of my followers here with two months of freeDOGtv online subscription when you sign up for one month service using the code piglove at dogtv.com. Isn’t that the coolest thing ever?! So friends, please check it out if you get a chance and see if your fuzzy little anipals love it as much as I do. AND I may have more news about DOGtv in the future so don’t miss out my friends. I’m off to watch me some live DOGtv now. ❤
Miniature pot bellied pig and friends - Bacon, Houdini, Hemi and all of the Rock Clan with Journalist Rocky the Squirrel all out looking for adventures from the Hotel Thompson.
